John Hurt
Baz Yes [ more ]
El Loro http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b065rn7t It's a repeat from 2 years ago. The play by Keith Waterhouse was originally played by Peter O'Toole on stage and is available on DVD as a performance was filmed. There is a warning for strong language. Although it was broadcast in the afternoon, the watershed rules for television do not apply to radio provided that a warning is given. If it was given a BBFC certificate it would presumably get a 15 as the Peter O'Toole DVD does. [ more ]
Baz He's also been in a play on Radio 4 this afternoon ...in Geoffrey Barnard is ill [ more ]

The Mystery of the Unknown Man
Baz Whoops ..sorry ...we were talking at cross purposes .....I was talking about the body of a man found on Saddleworth Moor last year ....and finally identified a few days ago ....and I'm guessing you are talking about the guy with Alzheimer's whose family dumped him over here . [ more ]
Extremely Fluffy Fluffy Thing From what I've just read, his son would dearly love to - LITERALLY! [ more ]
Saint Once again we had a "coming up in the show" scenario And then they proceeded to tell the whole story in the first 30sec [ more ]

Sink Hole
kattymieoww Loads of old mine workings in the central belt of Scotland.I'm in Glasgow and about six years ago we had huge machines infilling in my garden and others, they weighed tons and forced concrete(I think) into large tubes they sanke deep into the ground. They did this before the houses could be upgraded. [ more ]
Extremely Fluffy Fluffy Thing Google says - (short answer) - some sort of collapse of the surface. But surely the surface can only collapse if the underneath layers of ground have fallen away? [ more ]
Enthusiastic Contrafibularities I would have assumed the very same Fluffy. Seeing as I am out and about I can't bring myself to Google it. [ more ]

Would any of you like to watch my Demo Reel?
Eugene's Lair ❤️
Eugene's Lair Bit belated as usual, but: great stuff, Rawky! [ more ]
Rawky-Roo Thanks, everyone. Amythist, I've enjoyed the course. More so for the opportunities and connections I've been able to make. I will say there are elements I'm not too fond of, but that's probably the same for every course out there. You do realise I'm in Toronto, right? It's not a cheap course. I got super lucky in that I received a 90% bursary to help pay for it. If you can afford it, by all means. Toronto's a great city with a huge industry. If not, get him to look into Bristol or London. 'Allo 'Allo! star Gorden Kaye dies at 75
El Loro Staff at Gloucester's Café Rene have said a sad "au revoir" to Gordon. Every year on the café's birthday the staff have held Allo Allo-themed parties. The café was named after Rene Descartes rather than Rene Artois but that hasn't stopped the Allo Allo local urban myth. [ more ]
Yogi19 Aww, RIP Gorden. [ more ]
Baz What a shame ...really not that old either RIP [ more ]

Bronski Beat keyboardist Larry Steinbachek dies at 56
Eugene's Lair Yeah: saw this last week. Like many here, Bronski Beat were a huge part of the 80s for me. Funnily enough I was thinking about them recently because BBC2 showed the film "Pride" over Christmas, and the centrepiece of that film was a reconstruction of the "Pits and Perverts" benefit gig for the striking miners that Bronski Beat headlined in 1984. It's very sad news, and as others have said, 56 is nothing... [ more ]
Former Member Awww. So sad and only the same age as me too [ more ]

Extremely Fluffy Fluffy Thing Chubby doesn't shy away from sharing his outlandish views, sailing so close to the mark even the most seasoned of fans will be left gobsmacked! As politically incorrect as ever and far too hot for telly, the live stage is the only place you'll see this flamboyant comedian. If easily offended, please stay away! [ more ]
Lori I don't know that performance, but I would guess that I don't want to see it... [ more ]

Nigel Farage!
Carnelian I'm sure they're not, but if you're insinuating those are qualities I have, then maybe! But those qualities are relative to the power someone has. A three year bully arsehole really has power over other three year olds and under but no power over anyone else! Still, I'm not a c*** thin skinned racist demagogue t*** of the highest order like Farage. [ more ]
Yogi19 Very true, Baz. [ more ]
Baz I don't think those qualities are restricted to Farage .... or even to politicians [ more ]

Extremely Fluffy Fluffy Thing Well, I've had a look but can't find anything, guess I must have already deleted it! [ more ]
Enthusiastic Contrafibularities I had one at work this week from Nigeria. As you say the spelling was hilarious, they even tried to double bluff by making out this is not a scam and that the money I needed to send to release the £273 billion from a frozen bank account had already been paid by my 'bennerfactor' and all I now needed to do was send my bank details. [ more ]
Extremely Fluffy Fluffy Thing Oooh.....I think I might actually have got one of those a wee while ago. I just laughed and ignored it. It was so obviously nonsence: Words missing, spelling errors, addressed to 'Dear customer' etc. Maybe I'll dig it out and send it to the fraud section! [ more ]

Human Interest Story: The guide dog that spies on people who ignore its owner
Enthusiastic Contrafibularities I actually think this was the point, when things become different or changed from what is known is when help is needed most. [ more ]
Baz I totally agree EFFT [ more ]
Extremely Fluffy Fluffy Thing Same here Baz. I understand it to a certain degree, but at what level do they consider people not wanting to intrude becomes being ignored? Though the rail station story certainly sounds like ignoring. [ more ]
