El Loro There was an article in the Times today about six big companies in the UK who declared no taxable profits in 2014. Shell, BAT and Lloyds. Don't know about Shell or BAT but I can understand why Lloyds wouldn't and that's because of the huge losses they had to provide for PPI claims in recent years. With company tax, a company could have made profits every year for years and paid tax on it. Then one year it makes a huge loss. Not surprisingly it pays no tax that year. It is able to carry back... Former Member R.I.P Terry I have to say, how much i respect the family for keeping his illness quiet. Cant have been easy these days. He did wonderful work for Children In Need, i know many who have benefited from it. He not only fronted the yearly show, he did actually visit places where the money had gone and took a great interest. [ more ]

Eugene's Lair I think that's what struck me most while watching the tributes to him today - the sheer range of stuff he's been involved in meant that although you may not like everything he did, there was a good chance there was something you would like. For example I never listened to that much radio, and I could take or leave his chat shows. However I loved Blankety Blank, I probably wouldn't even have bothered watching Eurovision in the later years if it hadn't been for Terry, and I admired his work... [ more ]

Kaffs I'm gutted about it. Let's not forget this is the man who gave us Blink and Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead. Three of my favourite episodes. Maybe he should go back to just writing. I love PC too - but then I've like all of the new Doctors, maybe I'm just easily pleased. The only thing I hated about the revival was Catherine Tate. [ more ]

Enthusiastic Contrafibularities I had high hope to Peter C as I too never really warmed to Matt S. Initially I was not so into David T, but I warmed to him over time. Looking for maybe a change in style, let's drop the story arcs and try something more stand alone, I for one do not need a 'grand plan' for the Doctor. [ more ]

Extremely Fluffy Fluffy Thing It is unfortunate that a lot of people only know one way of driving and also there seems to almost be an expectation that they should be able to drive in the same way no matter what. So it is often NOT THE CONDITIONS per sé that cause the accidents, but the number of people that do not drive accordingly! [ more ]
