A little warning would help
Lori That's why you (as an Admin) should subscribe to the blog, James. You'll see notices about updates and other information that way. [ more ]
James The Sinking Ship was a not bad compared to GaGa Lori. I just saw a lot of troubled people. Is there no way to message Admin people on individual channels to alert them? They could pass the message on if they think it's needed. [ more ]
Lori Hi, James: I meant to post on Gaga that there would be an update today....and I forgot. I'm sorry about that. However, I'm guessing it's not Gaga that you are worried about. You can keep up with updates and announcements in future by following the company blog . Ted made the announcement earlier today. [ more ]

Smiley posting issues.
Xochi I've just re-read and now realise that my issue was about that site listed at the beginning of my topic. However, I do remember I'd had a problem with the in-house smileys before. So that problem's deffo fixed! But just trying that link I posted to the other smiley site doesn't work now, so I guess it was in the middle of a computer tail-spin when I had that problem. I'm tooo scared to go delving into other smiley sites as I guess they're all phishing type ones? Any recommended ones would be... [ more ]
Xochi Hello again! You can't believe how the evil Aztec God of Computer Crap has struck me recently! My MacBook Air also crashed! However, they both seem to be sorted now. *prostrates before Goddess of Computer Kindness* So I just want to report, yes, the new fix is fine on my old version of Safari for the smileys! Fankoo! I've read there are other issues that have arisen in my absence, some of which I think I was experiencing before my Air failed, but won't judge until I tried. (I do remember I... [ more ]
Lori We released the fix for this just a little while ago. [ more ]

YouTube video overlaps
Lori Hehe. Well, "life and death" varies for everyone on this site, I've noticed. Sounds like it's also Chrome, based on the other thread. Thanks, guys! I'll report. [ more ]
brisket Thanks Lori. I mostly use IE version 8.0.6001.18702 It's not a matter of life and death - it is manageable so don't worry too much. [ more ]
Lori Hi, brisket: I've talked to Brian about this: can you please remind me of the browser (and version number) that you use? [ more ]

Mac Airbook problems
Baz I am on a Mac Airbook right this minute Xochi, and it is working fine.... but like El Loro says it could be that you need to update either your operating system, or your Safari As for everything else, I have been using mine (well catually it's Mr Baz's ) for about a year and have no probs with either the forum, or the battery life Hope you can sort it out [ more ]
El Loro I hear from Zaphod that you have been having problems with being able to post at all. It may be that you need to update your Mac operating system and your Safari browser. I have found these links for recent versions which may help. Mac OS X v.10.6.6 Safari 5.0.3 [ more ]
El Loro As another member and I don't have a MAC I can't help that much, but as far as the plugin for embedded videos are concerned this refers to the need to have Flash Player installed. This is a link to the Adobe download page for Flash Player . On my computer it automatically recognises which computer system I use, so hopefully this will be the same for you. Manually you can select MAC operating system OS X v 10.4-10.6, so provided a MAC Airbook uses this, it should work. I think Seattle are... [ more ]

Avatars
Former Member Thanks Loro. Yes, I've had a look in my settings but as you say can't find anything either [ more ]
El Loro sprout, I am not aware of a way of going this, but the people at Seattle may know of a way. On the Social Strata help forum there is a post which indicates that it is possible to do what you want via your Profile settings, but I've had a look at my Profile settings and can't see such an option. It may be they were talking about your own avatar which you can delete, but that's not what you mean. [ more ]

Searching for posts in the Refine List box
El Loro It looks according to the Social Strata help forum that work is continuing on this search facility. They hope to have something in place in the next but one update sometime at the end of February/beginning of March. The search parameters will look something like the advanced search facility in Google and this picture has been posted there. I do not know if this will be the same for Gagajoyjoy - but it could well be similar. [ more ]
El Loro Tooth Fairy, I posted my suggestion over on the Social Strata help forum and have had this reply from Brian Lenz, one of their software engineers. The current behavior that you describe of only original posts being searched when using refine list is correct and intentional. Since all the feature does is refine the list of topics/blogs, if we included replies in that search, it wouldn't be useful to include replies since the replies would not be highlighted in the list in any manner. We do... [ more ]
Tooth Fairy El Loro - what you are proposing then is a search facility that works? That seems sensible. [ more ]

The Quoting function
El Loro brisket, I did see on the Social Strata technical forum that the next update is expected to be rolled out in the week starting 7 February. As another user I have no knowledge as to what will be included in this update, but I am hoping that the proposed changes to the quoting function will be in this. The only info I have is as per my post of 16 December as above. If Seattle are looking in, perhaps they could give us some details as to what to expect. [ more ]
brisket Just wondering if there is any news of the new release which may correct the inability to quote on IE. Is it imminent? Many thanks. [ more ]

Feedback needed
El Loro This is a copy of a thread I've just created: As you know, there are problems with either not being able to quote in replies at all, or having to open the reply box, then scroll back to the text you want to quote and highlight, then scroll back to the reply box and click on the quote icon, which can be a bit of a hassle. I thought I would ask on the Social Strata help forum pages what was being done and I have had a reply from Brian Lenz, one of their software engineers. This is a copy of... [ more ]
Marguerita I still cant quote I am on safari.. [ more ]
El Loro Reference: I can no longer quote on Firefox...used to ...hummph! The method we used before the recent change no longer works, but you still can quote in Firefox. What you have to do is first open the Post Reply box, secondly highlight the text you want to quote from, thirdly return to the open Post Reply box and click on the quote icon (the one with 2 quote upside-down commas which is near the right end row of icons). It's messier then the old method as it potentially involves 3 scrolling... [ more ]

SuBe Thanks soooooooooooo much for doing this list...I would never be able to find the groups (now Channels) if not for this list and for Lori directing me to this list... THANKS to both!!!! [ more ]
El Loro I wasn't ignoring Low's question, as I'm just another user here, and know nothing about private channels. If Low means a private message or a blog, then if he goes to the Livecloud site (the link to that is at the top of the first post here), he will find the old ones still there. [ more ]

Rosemary O'Neill Okay, the word is that right now, custom profile fields don't auto-link. However, we've got a suggestion under consideration now to add that as a function. [ more ]
Rosemary O'Neill Hmmm....it's weird that they're not auto-linking already...that's normal URL behavior here. Let me go look into that and report back Thanks for letting me know. [ more ]

El Loro muf, usage can depend on which version of Windows (if you are using Windows) you have. I suspect that single core, dual core and quad core processors will have different effects on usage. Lori Hi, onetoo: I see a LOT of tweets by a new user, but they don't look like spam (although I understand that is a matter of perspective. ) If you see one that looks like real spam (out-and-out commercial advertising, or pornography), go to the blog. Underneath the entry, under that box that has tags, posted to, and ratings, there is a link to forward or report the blog. Just click the report link, and put in a reason for reporting. [ more ]
