At work we have been running it on a couple of examination workstations now for about two months. So far it seems stable and the feedback I'm getting is that it's not bad at all. None of the computers are connected to the Internet so there is no interaction and updates have to be downloaded.

I will still give it a couple of months before upgrading my home PC.

I'm on 8.1 at the minute and it's fine for me.  Obviously if I don't want to pay I'll have to upgrade in July and then I'm thinking just wait until I need a new pooter and buy with it already in. I was looking up when the support stops for 8.1. Got a few years left yet then

Windows 8.1 falls under the same lifecycle policy as Windows 8, and will reach end of Mainstream Support on January 9, 2018, and end of Extended Support on January 10, 2023.

That's your perogative.

And anyway I'm sure I've seen something in print to say 8 and 8.1 watch what you're upto too, although probably not to the extent of 10. but a lot of it can be turned off.

The thing I'm not going to like about 10 is having updates forced on you

What's the score then Sprout, whatcha gonna do?

Stick or twist?

I really don't know EC. By what I read in my pooter magazine..there's still bugs in it

If you intend to upgrade two very easy and cheap ways are to add an SSD and increase your system memory  (if you haven't already). You could extend the life of your computer by a couple of years.
