I can't see another thread for the Championships and as it starts on Monday, I thought I would start one nice and early for it.  Will Andy Murray be the first British men's champion since 1936 and the first singles title winner since 1977?  Will any other British player get past the first round?  Our ladies are doing well at the moment, two in the world 100 so must fancy their chances.

Will Rafa Nadal win again?  Or will Roger Federer win back his title.

Surprised that Serena Williams has been given 8th seed in her first Grand Slam since her Wimbledon win last year.  She has just lost at Eastbourne in 3 sets.

News today that Kim Clijisters will not be playing due to her ankle injury, shame I was looking forward to seeing her play.

As requested, this thread is dedicated to brisket.  May you be watching Wimbledon and enjoying it wherever you are xx

I love Wimbledon, hope the weathers good like last year, and like last year I will be supporting Nadal, but i really think any of the top 4 seeds could win it. It could be Murray's year.

Har har! well you have to humour them.

I'm looking forward to it too.  I hope that John McEnroe and Boris Becker are commentating again this year and not just Andrew Castle's smug mug on the telly all the time.

I hope that Andy Roddick and Richard Gasquet (if he's playing) do well this year.

Looks like it may be Leyton Hewitt's last hurrah as he'll probably retire soon, I would think

Me too! McEnroe and Becker are so much more interesting in their commentary.

Can't wait, I love these two weeks of the year, sitting in the armchair and listening to that thwack thwack of the ball and the ooooohing in the crowd Wish I had tickets this year, I used to go and queue in a tent on the pavement to get Centre Court tickets.

have the top 3 seeds in the mens withdrawn then

I've only managed to get time off on 3rd July for the semi finals so I'll be recording most of it every day whilst trying to avoid the scores - not easy.

Hoping Rafa wins of course.

I know this might seem self indulgent, but this thread should be dedicated to brisket, he was so looking forward to Wimbledon. I like tennis (much more than golf or cricket), so does anybody agree?

I have fond memories of brisket from previous tennis threads - his wonderful contributions will be sadly missed.

I'm pleased that Richard Gasquet has got through the first round.  Hope he does well this year.

I'm hoping for an early exit for Murray but have a feeling that he may make the final this year

I have done it tonight, TBH I did think about it, but couldn't think of the correct wording.

I think the roof being on last night might have affected Murray in the first set. Everyone was saying how different the court was, and it must've taken a while for the players to adjust.

I've been watching Ward/Llodra - Ward's just lost in 3 sets, but it was by no means a walk-over for Llodra who, I think, thought it would be since he's seeded 19 and Ward's unseeded. I was interested to see how Ward would get on after reaching the semi-final of the French open.
