I was astounded that people do that TBH. My daughter told me that several gigs she's been to (Arctic Monkeys, Kings of Leon and Oasis) that it's commonplace! A friend of my daughters (a really lovely inoffensive girl) was at a gig at the weekend - she told my daughter that the weather was OK but she kept her raincoat on beacause of the cups of piss flying about. This girl looked down and saw that the guy next to her was pissing on her shoes ..............she had a bit of a go at him (as you would) and his girlfriend promptly proceeded to punch her in the face. She is now sporting a black eye.

I know I'm an old fart but ....................what is the world coming to? I really don't get it at all.

Anyone else had experience of this?

I don't know Sooozy. Last gig I went to was a Pat Metheny concert (jingly jangly jazz guitarist) with my dad. To be honest, most of them there looked like they were of an age to have urinary complications but there wasn't a pissy cup to be seen.

It is gross!

I have always assumed its a way of using up the wee that has to be released..    peeps that are down the very front at these things are there for the duration..

its either stop your fluid intake..    or pee where you stand!

Idiots that are jealous of the people nearer the front then think its cool to throw it!

TBH its other missiles that worry me more..     Daughter & I had to beat a hasty retreat away from the front when we were at The Prodigy gig last year

Maybe they were wearing their incontinence pads ....................or possibly colostomy bags ..................................................Sorry bad taste!

Maybe it's a protest thing - my daughter said she always stands well back from the front (because of this) and never, ever drinks because the queues for the toilets are ridiculous and that the toilets are really disgusting anyway! I guess if you charge a fortune for tickets and then treat the customers like animals - they'll act like them. Not that i can think of any animal that pisses in a cup and throws it!

Hahaha. My son was born with congenital bladder problems (which caused a whole heap of secondary crisis saga) and he uses a catheter to pee, so I can see the humour in it in theory. But having someone pee over my open toed Gina heels would become a serous issue.

Here's a little Pat to go to bed to. Night Sooozy and all.

I'd throw a cup of piss at the Kings of Leon, or rather I would if someone pointed a gun to my head and insisted I attend one of their concerts.

A cup of piss would be too good for that collection of useless derivative, talentless, meat and potatoes throwbacks to 1972.  A cup of piss with sulphuric acid would be better!

I really can't stand that band,

That image has really made me laugh

It was hysterical but she managed to win them over in the end. I can still see her now ducking and diving she never got hit once

that's disgusting   I don't go to festival type gigs anymore...they're always so difficult to get to and sooooooo difficult to get home from.  The only person I'd go to Slane for now would be Robbie, so fingers crossed he doesn't feel the urge to do Slane again.

I remember I went to see REM at Slane and people started lighting the paper cups and throwing them in the air....in fairness in the dusky light it did look very pretty...but surely when they landed they bloomin hurt?

I was at the kings of Leon last week and it was an effing ZOO! There's been hell on about it in the local news since. P*ss flying around, people snorting drugs off keys, fights, someone took a dump on the floor.. rubbish everywhere too! I has to wash my hair at 1am after we got home, and I stunk of fags too. All in all, it wasn't a pleasant experience and I'll be sticking to indoor venues in future. I bet the same things happen at Glastonbury animals!

Sounds appalling.

Ev (Peachy)

I've suffered at a Oasis gig of a piss throwing idiot, This was by someone who had queued overnight  to get a place at the front of the stage, only to then keep pissing in a glass to throwing behind him, He got booted out before the show started.  It is now quite common for this act to happen at outdoor gigs and festivals, Wembley who don't allow you to take bottle water in in case you throw it, rub their hands at the act of a near ÂĢ4 a pint of beer being thrown up in the air.

That sounds revolting, Summer. What a shame that some disgusting idiots spoil things for everyone else.

I went to Reading festival in the late 80's and they were throwing cartons and bottles of piss at Bonnie Tyler. At that time I had never heard anybody swear like she did. Then Meatloaf came on to the stage to defend her by threatening people with a baseball bat. A couple of hours later I got crushed in a crowd surge and had to be thrown unconscious over the security barrier. I never went to another festival.

Temps did you not get to Croke Park at the weekend for the TT concert?  My sister went and was chuffed to bits when she got a handshake off Robbie Williams.

I first heard about piss-bombs in the late 80's/early 90's from  friends who attended the Donington Monsters of Rock event. Bags full of urine would be launched into the air above the massed crowd with the aim of striking an individual and spraying all those around them  - nice!

At the Kings of Leon concert in Hyde Park yesterday evening I had a few close-calls as fluid filled, pint sized beer cups flew around the audience. In the mass scrum that was the queue to enter the venue you were unintentionally kicking disgarded beer bottles with every other step. Just about the first sight that greeted me (17.45) was that of a man flat out, unable to stand or to give stewards/paramedics any sensible information.
Having attended similar gigs I knew exactly what to expect and just enjoyed the music, regardless. When they host the proms in Hyde Park later this summer will attendees be in danger from an unwelcome golden shower?
BTW The above was as 3 paragraphs when i copied/pasted it from my word facility.

I sure was there Ella...I didn't get to touch him unfortunately   How did your sis get to shake his hand?  On the flying platform thing or at the end? Lucky so and so

Usually it's beer dregs that sail over my head at gigs......why people throw stuff I don't know. I remember seeing Placebo at V fest years ago, and Brian the lead singer having a massive swear at the people throwing stuff. There's just no need for it, people should be there for the sheer love of music, not for the purpose of annoying other fans.

The punk gigs I've been to are among the most well-mannered in terms of the crowd. It's usually pop and mainstream rock that you get the morons.
