I have received an email supposedly from Fedex. It includes this:

We were unable to delivery your package on time, currently your package is at the closest FedEx office to you. kindly contact us on our  hot line or download the e-copy of the shipping label here (I've removed the link) to get the full package of what you ordered. You can also track your order by clicking on the tracking number below. Shipment can be picked up during the working hours of 8.00AM-4:00pm during the week,

It refers to a package for which I've paid $2,100 via Paypal which I haven't.

I have removed the link as I believe that it would lead to a site with either viruses or one trying to phish for personal information.

Fedex has warned of such scams though the wording is different. It says that this sort of scam is done at holiday seasons.

It is likely that this email scam will be widespread so beware of any such emails if you get them today or the next day or so.

Yeah , I’ve had several of those

Baz

Baz, that's the first Fedex one I've had so thanks for confirming my suspicion that it was a scam

Doing some investigating and found something on a malware investigation site posted 3 months ago about the link I removed from my post above.

Ransomeware

Some days ago there was an email which went into my spam folder. Someone has sent me something via Dropbox to open. I'm not opening it as I haven't been notified by anyone saying that they were sending me something via Dropbox. Almost certainly a scam of some sort.

I don’t blame you El ....tbh , I tend to never open anything that I’m not expecting.
