Hey guys, thought i better make a post in here telling you all i pm'd Ted on Wed night offering to help out if needed. He has replied and kept me up to date (most recent reply saying more details on Monday)

I hope this doesn't upset anyone, i just thought with BB on it's way back soon it may be too much for just 1 or 2 people.

Can't see why anyone would or should be upset Jen... I've not posted in here for ages. The way I see it from Ted's post, they wanted us to take more responsibility with the forum,  We have had a free ride for knocking on three years, so it's put up or shut up time as far as I'm concerned.

If we don't like the choice of mods, stick our hands up and offer ourselves. I'm more than happy so far with the ones that's offered to give up some of their free time to do it and even if I wasn't I'm not willing to do it, so I'd not be moaning about it anyway

Good on you for volunteering, Jen.

My thoughts entirely Lee.  I don't like my postcode being there tbh, its like posting your phone number for all to see.

I hadn't thought about that - I've just deleted my postcode

Aquarius I was so taken aback tbh....,I want  to remove that, the new terms of agreement doesn't permit  us to post personal information here, and rightly so, imo,our postcodes are as personal as it gets so with the changes we should be allowed to get them off our profiles.

They did for me too Lee.. but I was in work so time was limited - I just clicked ok (bascially because I don't expect I'd break them)  Now, I'm not so sure.

Fluffs pls don't take it personally, you've explained how you deal with sensitive info in a daily basis and that is good enough for me.We don't as yet know who or how many will be mods,if they don't work out who then will possibly fill the role.A whole lot of why's  and what if's I know but unsettling none the less, easily remedied by having the choice to either delete emails postcodes etc,or none of it being accessible.

The post code is an optional field. Nothing bad happens if you remove it.

So we can delete it Lori, can we also delete our email address, some do contain our forenames and or surnames?...Oh and ty for replying.

~Lee~

Lee, although we can easily delete our postcodes, I don't think you could delete your email as that's used as part of the log in procedure. We don't know yet if the community moderators will have access to members emails. If they do, I would expect that any moderator who used emails for any purpose other than for moderation or for truly exceptional circumstances such as someone was missing from the forum causing concern to others - any other use would not be tolerated by the administrators here.

And that's precisely why I have now deleted as much information as I can from my profile, and have also changed my email address to one that doesn't contain my real name.

FM

No, I don't want my information visible to the new mods.  Like everyone else, I joined this forum in the knowledge that the moderation was carried out by people who had no personal knowledge of any of us and who were on a different continent.  Having new volunteer mods from within our membership is entirely different, particularly when it appears that we will have no say in who will become mods.
