Wow ...I just got a question right

Which one?

I got the D-Day question after two clues.

I would imagine a number of people got the TMNJ question, but I was never a fan...

Hi Eugene The book prequels/sequels

Ooh - well done!

I had a rough idea about that one, but Victoria was being very picky so - like the contestants - I expect I'd have come a cropper!

LoD,  did not see that coming until the last ten minutes, how can I wait until next week?!!

Could see the way the wind was blowing, but with Mercurio you can never be sure of the details. All I will say is that everyone seems to continually underestimate Lisa...

As a bit of a heads-up, it's apparently been confirmed that the series finale in two week's time will be 90 minutes long (you may remember that the finale of "Bodyguard" was extended too). Will probably discuss this more closer to the date...

I just knew Lisa was going to turn on him ,(first thing I have sussed out!).  Is the wpc  with AC12 a bent cop?  I have my suspicions and I am not too sure about Hastings new love interest, especially since he has now rejected her.

Has she though? Why was she sobbing after she was alone in the corridor, after the guys had dragged John's body into the room where they'd been playing cards?

Just caught up with LOD .....it better not be Hastings

Too obvious, don't trust his boss 😉

That’s what I was thinking too Machel ....I hope we are right

I don't trust anybody except Hastings, Steve and Kate........and maybe one or two minor characters. DEFINITELY( ) not any of the top ones and definitely definitely not Gill!

Feeling lonely? Regret because she thought he was a friend and ally?  At the  beginning I did think she was a good guy.

6 hours to go!

Is Steve's ex not to be trusted?

Oh, I don't think we can trust anyone!

I think many have been suspicious of her from the beginning, and she's now been compromised by Hargreaves. Could still be innocent though, and she may be just feeling guilty about abandoning Steve when he came under suspicion.

The other thing muddying the water here is that there seems to be a lot of political manoeuvring in the background. A lot of the "suspicious activity" amongst the coppers (and let's not forget the actual politicians   ) could be linked to that rather than the actual "H" corruption investigation.

Then there's the Freemasonry angle... That hasn't been so big an issue this series (so far) as in previous series, but I have a feeling it's going to blow up soon, and will prove key to why certain characters are or aren't in the positions they are...

The two big teases that Mercurio has been playing out on us this series are:

1) Is Hastings "H"? and

2) Is Lisa undercover?

I'm going to stick my neck out and say "no" to both, but either way I think the key in both cases will come down to their backstories.

For Hastings, there has been a lot of speculation dating back to the very first series about how a Catholic policeman rose up the ranks in the RUC. At the end of Series 4, Mercurio pretty-much stated flat out that the next series (i.e. this one) would address that (or at least start to, seeing as a 6th series is confirmed too...).

I'm expecting a lot of revelations about Hastings background in tonight's episode, and I'm relatively confident they'll be mostly good ones...

As for Lisa: I'm still uncertain, but I think what we're seeing is really down to good writing and acting combining to show the emotional struggle Lisa's constantly under from being a woman with some remaining morals in a very  macho, amoral world.

The reason (IMO) why we the audience remain somewhat suspicious of this is that we're not used to emotional depth in LoD (think about how little we really know about what makes Steve and Kate tick after all these years...). The thing is that while Mercurio is a master of plotting, he's never been all that brilliant at characterisation, often relying instead on top-class actors to pull it off. I still have occasional nightmares about that dreadful SF series of his "Invasion: Earth", where all the characters were only defined by their job titles...

As expected, nothing more conclusive than at the end of previous episodes/series.

Mercurio effectively implied that Series 5 would be inconclusive when he was lobbying to get both series 5 & 6 commissioned at the end of series 4. The BBC had committed to a 5th series, and Mercurio said that his initial draft for that series was written in such a way that everything could be wrapped-up neatly, but he really wanted to extend the story out to a 6th series. The BBC duly obliged...

One of the better LoD "Coda" sequences, IMO.

Loved the business about the "missing" ÂĢ50k - implying that Hastings is both corrupt and honourable at the same time!

And as for Pilkington: I missed it in the original episode, but twigged during tonight's "Previously..." montage that the exams he passed must have been Police Entry exams! Shades of "Infernal Affairs!", there!

Have I got news for you,   didn't record last night anyone know why it wasn't shown?

I saw that on bbc news page ....it said that the precorded  programme had included a Change Uk member and I quote ....

The BBC said it was "inappropriate to feature political party leaders" in an election period as it did not allow for "equal representation" of views.
