Casualty.... I loved Duffy back in the day and thought I'd love her and Charlie to get together.   How come I hate her since she's come back and done just that?  When did they become so saccharine sweet and twee?   They make me heave.

I used to love Casualty but gave up on it a few years ago.

i stopped watching for years, Yogi and only came to it  last year.   Charlie Fairhead. highest paid actor in the BBC.. not sure why.

I don't get the BBC pay structure....I mean, Chris Evans is the highest paid!

Ah.. I like him... and although he earns most, when you consider pay by hours of entertainment output - 15 per week for ÂĢ2.5m as opposed to PART of one hour per week for Charlie for ÂĢ400k - i think Charlie's paid even more.  It's all about the pulling power on the punters I suppose.    Whilst the gender pay gap is out of order - I don't believe it's possible or even sensible to expect equal pay for equal work in the entertainment industry.   It's like saying Elvis (were he alive) should be paid the same for a gig as Michelle McManus... just because they both sing.

Not that I'm an expert, but...

I believe Derek Thompson (Charlie) was the highest-paid actor on the list because he's a major character on a flagship show, and the nature of "Casualty" means that he's paid directly by the BBC as a "full-time" employee. I would bet that Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Hiddleston and quite a few others earned a lot more than Thompson, but shows like "Sherlock" aren't considered "full-time" (so aren't included in the list), and/or they're paid through production companies, etc. It was explained that the latter reason is why Graham Norton "only" earned ÂĢ850,000 - he actually earns a lot more, but his BBC chat show work is paid through an independent production company.

Note that many of the highest-paid BBC employees were radio DJs or presenters, because that's considered a full-time job (and they're working directly for a BBC radio station). I was personally surprised that Steve Wright was the 7th-highest paid, but perhaps I shouldn't have been.

As for Chris Evans; I'm not sure it was properly confirmed, but I think his "current" salary is still boosted by what he got for "Top Gear" (which was a lot...)

I can't remember whether I've mentioned this one here.  Just seeing people mention Making a Murderer reminded me of The Jinx: The Life & Deaths of Robert Durst.  It's a 6 part documentary, very good.

I hadn't heard of this one, I'll check it out.

He was the rich guy who was implicated in the disappearance/murder  of his wife and two other people Yogi ....I knew the name rang a bell ........there were also some  episodes of Law and Order based loosely on him I think ...
