Bit of a heads-up for two TV shows returning for new series tonight (Monday):

1) "Only Connect" is back! New series starts 8pm, BBC2.

2) The second series of "Ghosts" starts 8.30pm, BBC1. For me, this was one of the great "finds" of last year, and is probably the show I've recommended the most to others since then. Great ensemble acting from the "Horrible Histories" team.

A quick heads-up for those who might be interested in a piece of classic TV nostalgia (or, for those who haven't seen it before, a still remarkably strong historical drama):

"Elizabeth R" - the 50-year-old (yes: fifty ) BBC series in which Glenda Jackson plays the title character of Elizabeth I starts a repeat run on BBC4 tonight (Wed) at 9pm.

Oooo thanks for the heads up Eugene ....I enjoyed the series first time around , so I’ll record it ......but I can’t believe it’s 50 years ago .

Piece of trivia. Rachel Kempson is also in the cast. She was married to Michael Redgrave and their daughter Vanessa was Mary in the film "Mary, Queen of Scots" also made in 1971 and had Glenda Jackson as Queen Elizabeth again.

I’ve set up a series link, thanks Eugene

Heads-up for anyone who missed it the first time round:

BBC4 are repeating all three series of the Danish crime thriller "The Killing", starting tomorrow (Saturday) with the first three episodes of the game-changing, 20-episode first series. (Programme runs from 9 to 11.50pm.)

Thanks for the heads up Eugene …..I’ve never watched it , but I’ve set it to record tonight , just to see if I like it .

If you can, do try to watch the first 2-3 episodes before making a final decision. If you're still not hooked by that point, fair enough!

I nearly gave the series a miss first time round, but it was my Mum who recommended it and I saw it on the midweek repeat (not being done this time round, but it's on iPlayer). My Dad was the big fan though: he really liked the way the show focussed heavily on the victim's family and how they tried to cope with the aftermath of the murder.

Sounds interesting Eugene

Can't believe this thread's been inactive for 3 months.

Thought I'd resurrect it in order to give a heads-up for a great little film on C4 tonight.

It's called "Searching" (C4, 12.40am) and stars John Cho, who plays a father "searching" for his missing daughter. The twist is that the entire search - and therefore the entire film - is played out on a computer screen. It's a conceit that's been done before, but the handling of it is really clever here: it's one of those films where you have to play close attention to every little detail. It's also got an opening to rival that of "Up" as a beautiful, self-contained mini-story.

Admittedly, it's on very late. so I'll probably be recording it myself...

I have trouble paying close attention in broad daylight, let alone that time of the morning
I'll take a look on catch up tomorrow

I’ll be tucked up in bed …even if I’m not actually asleep Eugene .

Blimey: this thread has gathered even more cobwebs.

Given that we're still technically a BB forum, I thought it worth a little heads-up on the fact that C4 are showing a tribute to Nikki Grahame tomorrow (Thursday):

"Nikki Grahame: Who Is She?" - C4, Thursday, 9pm.

Be aware that as well as looking back on her time in the BB house, the show will be "exploring her battle with anorexia that led to her untimely death in 2021".
