Significant albums in my musical education and as it happens, album covers I've looked at many, many times over the years. Like any art it's subjective. Interestingly I think the music on the first album is harder for people to get into than any of the others.

Wait till part two.

Seriously?    John Foxx for me.     He was the support last year when I went to see OMD (fabulous gig), but when he finished his set - I looked at my mate like this   and said nothing.   She said 'Have you ever heard such a load of pretentious twaddle in your life?  Worra loada crap'  Not a fan.

To be fair this thread is more about art than music, but I also saw that tour and he mixed music from many different periods of his life not just the Metamatic album.

Like almost everything in life, it's all about personal preference. I actually think that not only is the cover a good one (I was drawing a comparison with the Tubeway Army cover), I also think the J G  Ballard inspired album is one of the best of it's period and its genre.

Conversely I think that boy bands are the devil's spawn, producing throwaway pop tripe with no musical depth or originality and that the vast majority of chart music is as close to worthless musically as you can get - but that is my opinion and I know a lot of people who would disagree strongly. When I watched X-craptor I could not believe how mch garbage was served up week after week. R&B identikit acts!

Having said that I do on occasion trade songs with Jen-Star. We seem to try to post a song which we think the other may not have heard but is something they may like. Been quite a successful experiment so far in my opinion.

I'm sure if we talked at length we would find much common ground musically, speaking personally I think I have quite a diverse taste in music covering many styles. The problem I do have is that I have quite a big interest in music and can go on at length (and probably bore the pants off the listener).

One of the positives of being on GGJJ is that I have been introduced to a number of songs I would not normally have encountered - Velvet D being one person I have to thank.

I hope you don't think this is a rant - it's not supposed to be, I'm writing it as a friendly letter - I have no 'smilies' as I am mobile and a bit limited on that front!

I don't think it's a rant at all... a rant is what I did after I listened to John Foxx (I wasn't aware of him in his heyday)    I do like the cover though!

I'm sure we would find a bit in common - I like to think I've got diverse tastes too..       I didn't meant to slag off your taste in music (although, I guess I did...sorry  ) I was more surprised at the comment that you thought OMD would be harder for people to get into than him.   I'd have thought quite the opposite, that's what prompted me to comment.

If I had two dogs I'd call them Barney and Bobby......for no reason at all, and if I had a tom cat I'd call him Bob........Bob the cat
