That's an interesting perspective. That a song is automatically mediocre by definition if it makes it on to a 'chart'. Or perhaps you mean the current charts because knowing that you're a Human League fan reminded me (if I recall correctly) that they had a Christmas number one record in the 1980s.

He chose "Ernie, the fastest milkman in the West" not because he really thinks it's any good but because he needed something in his list that said 'Call me Dave has a sense of humour' and something for the older generation.
