I am just the same as I ever was Machel. I don't change much. I don't come on here very much now though because all the people i knew seem to have gone away - apart from you of course Machel. You have been my friend right from the beginning. I miss all the others though - especially my beloved doggie friend - Bagabones- who died. I sometimes cry when I think about him. I wonder what happened to Mr Tom and Nirmal as well. They just seemed to disappear. I really miss the old days. We had a lot of fun.

Still I mustn't get sad. Spring is coming and soon the birdies will be laying eggs and hatching little birdies and that's always good news for a cat!

The Little Cat

Hello mrs Lori.

I am a happy little cat just now. It is summer again and the sun is shining. My yuman has just planted a big catnip plant outside the front door. I must try to let this one grow a bit and not destroy it like the others. The trouble is I just mean to nibble a little bit but then the catnip takes effect and I stop caring and before I know what has happened the bush is just a pile of chewed stalks.

Hi,

We have taken in a stray cat who came to the garden like that. I used to put a dish of food down for him and he'd run away up the garden path as soon as I went out and watch from a safe distance until I'd gone inside again - and then creep up and eat the food when he thought it was safe. I persevered and gradually he lost his fear and would stay closer and closer and then he would eat while I stood near him. Then, one day I reached out and just touched him while he was eating. He jumped and hissed but the next day he let me touch him again. I also got his dish closer and closer to the back door and then left the door open while he ate and then put his food just inside etc. All this took over a year ! Eventually he would come inside to eat and allow himself to be stroked and settle down to sleep on the sofa. We then took him to the vet and got him micro-chipped, neutered and vaccinated. The vet said he was about 3 years old. He's been living with us for nearly two years now and he's the most loveable and affectionate cat anyone could wish for. We call him Gremlin. He's a real joy. We already have 2 other cats. One hates him and there was a bit of trouble from her at first - Gremmy wanted to be friends but she wouldn't. They've settled down now though and just ignore each other. The other cat -another female called Phoebe fell in love with Gremmy. He has really improved her life. They are great friends and he looks after her and sleeps next to her. It's really sweet. We're so glad we persevered with him and took him in.

Don't give up with yours. You never know - the dogs might accept a cat once they get to know it. A lot of cats and dogs living in the same family get on really well. Otherwise - see if you can make the cat a home in a utility room or garage or shed or outhouse for the cold weather and then try to find him or her a permanent home somewhere.
