I know like loads of girls my age who are pregnant Eeker, but I do think teenage pregnancies have spiralled out of control most have been unplanned. Some also don't realise until it hits them how hard it is. I know some who also when they see their friends going out and having fun clubbing etc they get upset and wish they was doing it but they made their choice. There really needs to be more done. Also more needs to be done for teen dads more Sex Education in schools wouldn't go amiss either should be compulsary for teens which in some schools it isn't.

i aggree with you even though i had 2 kids at 16!! i used 2 go into schools 2 talk 2 teenagers about how hard it is 2 be a parent. I had 2 fight tooth and nail 2 keep my 2 older kids, I worked and cared 4 them on my own and its was so hard

Hug FC good for you Smiler, if it makes them think then you've done some good bet it was so tough but it's worked out for you.

Thanks hun Hug

You're not serious are you? I'm 52 there were very few teenage pregnancies then .......................now I only have to walk round town and there are teenage mums simply everywhere ...............and ...............I'll wait for the sticks and stones - most of them are doing a horrendous job of bringing up their kids - it breaks my heart to see it. I accept that the minority do a good job but .........i'm speechless to think that you believe the teenage pregnancy rate hasn't risen beyond belief.

As I said....someone will probably prove me wrong. No need to be speechless.

I haven't actually proved anything TBH ............it's simply a fact isn't it?

From Wikipedia...but I'll post it anyway Big Grin

Births to teenagers increased during the 1960s and peaked in 1971 at 50.6 per thousand of the population. Since 1971 they have gradually fallen to their lowest level since the mid Fifties. The proportion occurring outside marriage has increased from around one in six in the 1950s to nine in every ten in 2006.
Cagney
Numbers of teenage girls pregnant (approx)

1955 - 33.000
1959 - 46.000
1964 - 76.000
1969 - 82.000
1971 - 83.000
1973 - 73.000
1981 - 57.000
1983 - 54.000
1990 - 56.000
1996 - 45.000
2005 - 45.000
2006 - 45.500
2007 - 44.800

From that I can see that yeah it rose in the 60s. Also that over the last 13 years the numbers aren't actually that different

Exactly Nod, the boy needs to take responsibility too. There should be more support for teen dads.

Nod where i live there are loads of young mum groups but nothing 4 the young dads

It's not fair really, they need support too.
