and they are buying zillions of maskswhich are totally useless Roll Eyes

There is nothing like spreading total alarm
Who are the 159 people who have died in Mexico City?
It could be they are elderly, very young, very poor etc all of whom have poor immunity anyway and would be vulnerable to any flu virus
No one outside Mexico seems to have died

BTW
I saw yesterday that those of us who have had Flu vaccinations in the UK are NOT covered for this particular virus
P
am with you there puds. those dead in mexico could be a few of hundreds of thousands who have had it. they don't have our primary care system so the only cases that are heard about are the ones that end up in hospital. loads more are probably at home with a box of paracetamol and some tissues.

but scare stories are so much more exciting (and sell more papers *ninja* )

Hey pengy x the thing is often the press report the worst case senario, and when people work hard to make sure it doesn't happen they complaine we didn't all die... like with Aids that was a massive campaigne and it worked... and the press complained as we didn't all die. Roll Eyes They like more dead foke so they can intrude on people greif to make headlines. Frowner

Officials in Washington gave no other details of the patient. Federal health officials had been warning the virus would probably claim lives in the US.

I don't eat animals - it would be different if I was a hairy hunter slaying mammoths - at least I would have a fair idea that it had been eating grass.

Farm animals that are naturally plant eaters are fed other animals as well as antibiotics to fatten them up. Natural selection has not provided them with the digestive means to cope adequately with animal proteins.

The farming industry should spend some time reflecting on what it is doing in the quest for profits IMHO.

I agree. We are keeping in the wee ones ...a bit Parnoid but I want to see what happens over the next week. we will keep visits to a minimum. The deaths are so sad but a two year old.... I don't want to think about it.

I read that face masks are useless,as soon as they become moist by breath .You'd have to wear about 40 a day.
