The US has its first death from swine flu, a 2 year old child.
Very sad news, and actually quite worrying.
I agree. We are keeping in the wee ones ...a bit Parnoid but I want to see what happens over the next week. we will keep visits to a minimum. The deaths are so sad but a two year old.... I don't want to think about it.

Think that’s fair do’s hon, I’ve no kids but if I did I reckon I’d be doing the same.

I read that face masks are useless,as soon as they become moist by breath .You'd have to wear about 40 a day.

I'd rather take my chances with a face mask than with nothing..the minister for swine flu said they were useless but when asked what should we do he said to cover ones mouth..

With a tissue hon, and then immediately dispose of the tissue, or with your hands and immediately wash your hands.
The masks ARE useless, in fact they could make matters worse if people are relying on them and not washing their hands and stuff. The only masks which are any good are those which have been ordered in bulk for NHS staff, they have proper filters and so on.

Joking aside - I'm getting worried now....just had a case diagnosed in Devon, Paignton...not that far from us...12 year old girl and they've closed the school and every fink. Frowner

I've got three kids so probably am just being an over protective Mum....but still can't help feeling a wee bit scared now. My eldest is the same age as the girl in Paignton.

I heard that as one of the guys at work has a daughter that goes to that same school. He was sooooo worried, I'll hear more about the details tomorrow . I work 15 minutes away from there as well.
