I've found there is a problem with posting smilies from a popular site http://yoursmiles.org/ and believe others have had the same, as Mac users. I'm now using Chrome on my Airbook as my desktop is still off the road and all smilies, even the 'in-house' ones weren't working here on Safari.

But Extremely Fluffy Fluffy Thing has stumbled across something when trying to sort out my niggle in The Sinking Ship and it may be worth asking her what she unravelled as it may sort out other smiley issues in Gaga and LiveCloud etc.

I'm far too techy dumb to explain, but it involved the url address being also attached to the http address for an image within extra brackety bits...

Like this (without spaces, obviously).

[ url=http://www.moppo.net][img ]http://www.moppo.net /links/616433001300753423-final.gif[/ img][/ url]

I'm sure some of you will understand this, because I did eventually. But you have to strip the bracket parts out AND then post in the pic icon box of the reply box! Obviously far too much of a palava to bother doing to post a smiley, but may help?

Anyway. Ask Fluffy!

Hi Xochi

I tried your link which shows an error because the hyperlink has included the and. It should be http://yourmiles.org/

When you use this site, you will see there are 3 options shown ubb, html and url.
If you try each option you get different codes. You should be using the url option as this excludes the bits which are not needed.

For instance "http://yoursmiles.org/tsmile/yes/t2702.gif" (ignore quotes)

With Fluffy's moppo site, it is necessary to manually strip out the excess bits if you use the highlight link options. But instead of doing that, if you right click on the smiley you want, then click on Copy image location (not the copy image option), and proceed as normal you get for instance

Thanks El Loro, but I'm pretty certain I did that. Let me try again now I'm not so tired!

Right... tried what you said... and on all three option buttons.

If I strip out the brackety bits and post through the pic icon option here it should work...

Nope, not that either. This is error message I got here, however.

Your request could not be completed at this time due to an unknown system error. Reference ID: 204370254150008432[1213658377][1879291277]TUR-96BUGFIX.r12684.b98-livecloud.ps002-2

any more ideas?

I only ever use the insert image icon for posting pictures and paste the copied code in the Image URL line. I wouldn't expect to be able to get the picture by just entering the copied code direct in the Post Reply screen. I think some broswers can cope with this, but mine doesn't.  In the yoursmileys site, I would just use the 3rd option marked url.

The reason you got that error message is that the forum site gets confused by the extra bits of HTML code which is shown with the other two options.

Sorry El Loro. I used to be able to post the url line straight into the comment box for a smiley from that site without going to the pic icon option from my Mac in Ancient Safari, and now can't post anything because I get that error message above, from Modern Safari or Chrome! . But thanks for looking into this.

I've tried the url option every which way. Sans and with pic icon option.

It must be another bug I have here.

ftw on my Mac Airbook. I'm 10.0.648.151 in Chrome.

Mac OSX 10.6.6

Just sayin'!

Hello again!

You can't believe how the evil Aztec God of Computer Crap has struck me recently! My MacBook Air also crashed! However, they both seem to be sorted now. *prostrates before Goddess of Computer Kindness*

So I just want to report, yes, the new fix is fine on my old version of Safari for the smileys! Fankoo!   I've read there are other issues that have arisen in my absence, some of which I think I was experiencing before my Air failed, but won't judge until I tried. (I do remember I was having problems posting pix last time?)

Thanks for doing the messenger bit El Loro and Lori... can you please pass this on to Brian too?

Xochi

I've just re-read and now realise that my issue was about that site listed at the beginning of my topic. However, I do remember I'd had a problem with the in-house smileys before. So that problem's deffo fixed!

But just trying that link I posted to the other smiley site doesn't work now, so I guess it was in the middle of a computer tail-spin when I had that problem.

I'm tooo scared to go delving into other smiley sites as I guess they're all phishing type ones?

Any recommended ones would be nice, but I guess that's a bit of a tall ask!
