but to say they cheated just reflects badly on your part.
no it doesn't.

cheating is cheating and there's a lot of it in football, if they were  truly sportsmen then they would not seek to gain advantage unfairly, which is what they did.whichever team it is, and that goes for england too.

i rather like germans and germany as it happens, spent a lot of time  over there, loved it, still doesn't mean i like cheating in sport tho.

when their goalie picked the ball out of the net and pretended it hadnt gone in.
JB, you know fine that every goalie would have done the same thing. He could have flung himself prone in front of the referee, the decision was made and would not have been overturned. All he did was take the ball out and got ready for a goal kick or a decision. Obviously, I completely agree that it was a goal and should have been given, but that's football surely. I didn't like the decision in 1966, but I managed to get over it and I know that England won fare and square. As did Germany.

i am saying i don't like watching  or revering those in sport, even if its football, who cheat.
Nobody does but some are worse than others. On the Cheating League Table Germany would come way way down based on form. The keeper didn't even cheat outright anyway. His reflexes told him to get the ball out of his goal.

If you want a Masterclass on cheating watch the Italians, French, Portugese and Spanish.

i'm not arguing the point that germany deserved ot win, of course they did. i am saying i don't like watching or revering those in sport, even if its football, who cheat.
I'd agree with you more about the old German team who used to fling themselves about without provocation. They've stopped doing that now and are seriously intend on winning. The misallowed goal wasn't a German cheat because everybody but the officials saw it going in. I also agree that it may stop the opposition in it's tracks, but Germany still didn't make the decision. If we had instant replay (at least around the goal) these things wouldn't happen anymore, but the game would slow down. I think we all had to swallow a bitter pill in the past. Argentina went through by Maradonna scoring with his fist. How was that fair? Water under the bridge tho and a real wake up call for the English team to pull their socks up.

i know argentina cheat, as do all the other teams  ive mentioned , that ive seen play in this world cup.

the goalie knew it was a goal, he decided to pretend it wasnt' he could have kicked it into the goal himself, but he didn't.so in effect he cheated.

as did uraguay tonight.

just because it's common form to cheat in  football, doesn't make it right.

In 1966 England were awarded a goal that never was, this is the year as you know England won the world cup, England won the match 4-2 , but surely they cheated their way to that trophy if we use your theory?
ahh so they are cheats to, which i think proves my point, that football isnt  really a sport , its who gets away  with cheating.

I'm sorry, I have a perfectly reasonably debate here with some people and you of all people tell me to chill. What have I said to give you the impression that I'm not chilled?
'You of all people' Mr.Pot, Mrs Kettle calling!

You get a right strop on if anyone even so much as farts near Germany. Nowt wrong with being patriotic but you can hardly call your retorts in this thread impartial. Ho hum! *whistles*

Not true Karma, I'd like to see the evidence in a non football thread. The kind of stuff that some Englsh people throw at me for being German is like water off a ducks back. In fact have not been on often enough during the world cup to promote Germany and I know that I don't go on about it during the year unless somebody either comes out with German stuff or comments on me being German. Rubbish talk as per.

oh well, its worse than i thought then, its everyone cheating, why on earth do people travel across the world and remortgage their houses to watch people cheating?
Because the fat cats are earning mega money off it, if they put the goal line senser in it would be a fairer game but then the likes of Sepp Blatter would'nt be able to control the teams that qualify or win....

Can I just ask people to calm down here please. I hate Argentina I won't deny it. Cheating is their option when things don't go their way, similar to other nations I've mentioned. Germany are not known for cheating and have a young, talented hungry team with no small amount of skill who are excellent on counter attack.

I want them to win for football reasons. That is all. Please leave petty politics out of it.

i really don't know why, when i said i hate germany and argentina  and uraguay, because they cheat, some folks immediately assumed  that i believed england doesn't cheat, and  that i was suffering sour grapes because england aren't in the world cup anymore, and some one even dragging up 1966!

it was quite clear  to me that i was saying football is not a sport it's just who  cheats the best.

i don't like football, i don't watch football, i have watched this world cup  and it was  not a pleasant experience, i will not be watching another one, ever.

beautiful game, my arse.
