A BBC spokesman said, "We are very proud of Robot Wars and would like to thank Mentorn Media, the presenters Dara Ó Briain and Angela Scanlon, and all those involved in the last three series.

However, in order to create room for new shows it won't be returning to BBC Two."

 

Maybe another channel will take it up Eugene .

So, in order tp make room for NEW shows that they don't really know if anyone will like or be successful enough, they will axe (again) a show that they know is loved by thousands and is EXTREMELY successful. Meanwhile still doggedly plodding on with some of the dross that is mainly watched by the BRAIN DEAD!

Anyone get the impression that I am not impressed by this move?

WTF !!!  

Sometimes I get the impression the people at the BBC haven't got a f****** clue what they are doing. I'm sure that if I looked at the ratings, I could find dozens of programmes that get hardly any viewers.

It's not your fault you live in Sheffield 

Imagine axing a programme that actually meant something and saved lives - yes SAVED LIVES !!!

They axed CRIMEWATCH and tried to claim falling figures were to blame.

Really? Then why transfer it to day time viewing and put it on every day with Rav Thingy-ma-jig AND THEN put it on it's normal spot, live every week .... if it was no longer 'relevant'

How irrelevant is solving crime (and it could boast a real hand in doing so) and  saving lives. What could be more worthy or interesting?

Well, Baz: the #BringBackRobotWars suggests their actively looking for a new home, so that's encouraging. I just hope that they find one on Freeview... 

After it got axed the first time it had a brief spell on C5, but I'm not sure they could afford it now. I'm guessing part of the current problem is that the BBC is finding it too expensive, but I really thought that the most recent series of Robot Wars had hit its stride and was starting to expand out to a wider audience.

There were also little hints in the last series of possibly giving more coverage to the lighter weight categories (such as the "ant weight" robots which were billed as a great way in for kids) , and I would have thought that would have fitted neatly with the BBC's "education" brief...
