FIFA say no to the poppy. What are your thoughts?
I can see a bit of reasons for both sides of the argument.
1) We have all the rest of the day to commemorate the fallen, so why does a couple of hours matter? It's not as if we suddenly don't care/have respect, just because we might not be wearing a poppy.
2) What's FIFA's problem and why should we let them dictate to us?

Normally one would put this down to the increasing tendency to faux poppy outrage.
However apart from being a bunch of crooks FIFA have no reason to ban poppies so I would suggest the players go ahead and wear them on their shirts if they want.
I'm sure I have read or heard somewhere that this type of thing is not new with FIFA. At the back of my mind I think it's something to do with them controlling what countries display on their kit.
I'm sure they can't stop the players all having a non permanent poppy tattoo on the backs of their hands. During the national anthem the players can all cross their arms across their chests making a fist over their heart with the poppy displayed on the back of their hand.
How's that sound.

Last year I bought my poppy on the tenth at work and left it on my desk so that I wouldn't forget it on the 11th. Come the 11th and we were pitched into work right away, got so embroiled that I never got the opportunity to actually WEAR my poppy! So it spent the whole day on my desk.
I want one of those very small unobtrusive poppies that I've seen some people wearing but I can't seem to find them 
We bought ours in M&S last year but they don't have them this year. I'll probably pop into Morrisons they usually have the special ones in the foyer. Plenty of time. We already sponsored a cross in the NE memorial garden. I think I mentioned before that we bumped into Muslims wearing poppies in Darlo and now Whitby so that's another urban myth dispelled just in time before the Christmas nonsense!

I made my comment earlier on - our teams should wear poppies. There's nothing in FIFA rules to prevent them.
ION the other places are awash with faux poppy outrage!
According to the BBC website both teams have agreed to go ahead with a poppy tribute. That's it! There's nothing the FIFA crooks can do but if they try then surely we can be the first state to leave the corrupt organisation.

In that case, I'm even happier that our teams are ignoring FIFA and will wear the poppies.
As my chum recently pointed out, there's a lot of difference between our teams wearing poppies and making a Nazi salute in 1938!

I bought one last night in Sainsbugs Local....ÂĢ2 donation. I put it in my coat pocket for safekeeping. I must've pulled it out at sometime through the day today with my paper hankie and lost it *Wails*
I don't like 'posh poppy jewellery'. To me it is all about the paper poppies that we buy year after year after year.
Or day after day after day in my case, coz I keep losing the flipping things!

Does anyone know of any old service men or women who actually benefit from the Poppy Appeal?
My great uncle was shot down during the war and suffered brain damage. He spent the rest of his life in Erskine Hospital,

I have recently learned that he was stationed in Egypt for a while and had intended to stay in Egypt after the war was over.
Shame he never got to fulfil that wish.
