New Year, New Avatar

As a new year beckons, it feels like the time to spruce up one's online image. What better way to do it than choosing a new avatar. Not only do you get some new clothes, it shows you are open to change, exciting, creative, fun and willing to keep people on their toes.

Here is one for a forum friend, I wonder if he/she will take it up?

I am keeping mine because it was picked for me by a very dear friend 😊

I will always keep it for that reason

I can understand that Moonie and that is fair enough.

Although, you might want a change of clothes for one month and then go back.

Nah, I feel comfy in my dirty ones fankoo EC

As this is about old to new can I ask what changes are people making next year?

I hesitate to say  "New Years Resolution"

I plan to get fit, making exercise my regular hobby

I'm getting back into mountain biking - and weight lifting

As you wisely hesitate (as most get dropped within 2 weeks of making them) I have for a couple of weeks now been eating a lot healthier, cutting down meal sizes and not just eating for the sake of it. Almost stopped eating sugary things, kept this going through Xmas. Also tried to keep up my walking each day.

So not exactly new, but a determination to keep on going with it.

What I am hoping for (something out of my control to some degree) is that I find the right home to move into. I have been looking for sometime now and not really found the right place. New year means people might start putting property on the market.

I only got an 82% success rate in my hits at work and will try much harder before my next review in April.

Does that mean liquidating the enemy?

I'm sure you're James Bond

Seriously though I feel for people who have their performance constantly 'reviewed' - it's akin to slave driving.

Me - I hope to become a Landlord and work for myself

I want to lose weight and increase my fitness level (which is non existent atm)

A: Possibly

B:I am already.

Well . . .

Getting fit = short term

Landlord = long term

Not working and supporting my parents instead has been a God-send for me.

Not only am I not a slave to relentless grind but it's given me space/time to be at home and enjoy their company ... and just time to breath.

I hope this continues in 2018

Me too Sainty

I've been well aware from the very beginning that my avatar is rather "low tech", but it is directly related to my username, and it's very difficult (so far, read "impossible") to get a better quality picture that "works".

There are one or two other related images I'd like to use, but I've never been able to get a decent image of them...

@Eugene's Lair

I'm assuming it's a character from a game (I'm not a gamer myself). But it also looks quite 8-bit, you could use an application to create a better quality picture, but keeping the low tech look.

I found this doing a quick reverse Google look-up.

Yeah: I've mentioned this before, but my name comes from one of the levels of the old Spectrum game "Manic Miner" (the baddy "Eugene" was an in-joke aimed at rival games programmer Eugene Evans). Although I'd been lurking since BB3, I finally joined the old C4 forum during BB6, and my username was meant as a jokey reference to my favourite HM of that year (and still one of my all-time favourites), Eugene Sully.

My avatar's from a screen shot of the game, whereas that picture is a reconstruction of what the sprite is meant to look like.

It feels a little too "clinical" to me, but it's still a lot cleaner so if I find the time I may adjust the size and replace it. I'd really like to have a moving avatar from the game (or related), though...
