I was thinking it was Mickey Dolenz too - because I thought it was him!

However I now think it was Davey Jones.

I think it was the Screenwriters Guild in the States who went out on strike for quite some time. Huge effect on films and TV shows and series at the time with many series having to be shortened as a result.

I've just Googled and I don't think I've ever heard of that opera.

I googled it today too ...but have never heard of it either
