Shirley Bassey ?

Joan Hickson?

Joan Hickson is a wonderful suggestion and would have gone in but sadly she passed away some time ago. June Whitfield would also have been included but is no longer with us.

Shirley Bassey is a great suggestion - better than Joan Collins??

I loved both Joan hickson and June Whitfield ....but not sure either Bassey or Collins should be in there . How about Maggie Smith ?

Aaah @Baz i was waiting for that name

Dunno where but i've got the impression she can be quite prickly, not sure if it's true though.

Is she endearing - you're right J. Collins and S. Bassey may not qualify in the endearing.

BUT hasn't Shirley Bassey hob-knobbed with Royalty and sang for them?

She may qualify

It's a toughie

I’m sure she can ....but she’s definitely a national treasure

I wouldn't say Cliff Richard is a national treasure.  He's liked by women of beyond a certain age but I don't think there's much love for him in the nation.  He's considered an annoyance rather than a treasure.  His Xmas records are generally irritating.  He annoys many with his piety and bored the nation by playing the martyr over the BBC covering the police raid on his home.

Tis a fair point Carny - he's not without a few skeletons.

People tend to forget the religious rallies he attended where homosexuality was denounced, even though he may be gay himself.

He does, however represent some kind of significant place in British history and came out of the Police investigation untainted.

I tend to think he is gay.  Anyone with his good looks back in the day and celebrity would have been a man who would have had conquests in their hundreds or even thousands.  Having a queue of very attractive women with all kind of attractive personalities wanting to be Mrs Cliff Richard and not choosing one, suggests homosexuality to me.  I'm no homophobe, it's not for me to tell anyone how to live their lives.  He's probably conflicted by his religion.

Laurence Fox perhaps?

that's a no from me!

Made me laugh when Bruce said, "Pritti Patel says the UK press isn't racist".  No, it isn't to a rich ladder pulling right-wing lunatic like Pritti Patel, because as a low tax for the elite, right-wing lunatic, she's on exactly the same page as most of the Tory press.

Patel isn't going to bite the hand that feeds her.  Fiona Bruce is so bloody clueless!  I've seen that clip but that's all.  I don't watch BBC news and current affairs anymore after their blatant bias to the Tories in the last few years.  We should abolish the licence fee.

Hmm, I’m not sure.....she’s a bit marmite.

I prefer Brenda Blethyn
