Sorry for absence, life got in the way :/

How about this then...

Oh, too easy Roxan!

I'll leave it for someone-else to claim, but I'm in a musical mood tonight and therefore can't resist posting this:

Love it! I was asking for the character/ person if that makes it any more challenging!

Erm - not really, Roxan.

The picture you posted is of a collector's card (given the subject matter, I'm guessing bubble gum rather than cigarette), and the player's name is printed at the bottom!

Something you may have forgotten (and I have to admit that I only remembered this when I looked it up on Wiki) was that Pigsy was played by a different actor in the second series.

It's perhaps also mildly surprising (well, it surprises me, anyway), that that particular series (commonly called "Monkey" here in the UK, or sometimes "Monkey Magic") was the very first TV adaptation (and a Japanese one at that) of what is after all a very famous Chinese novel.

I've always wanted to see the Chinese series "Journey to the West" from the 80's, which is considered by many to be the most authentic interpretation of the story.

Journey to the West (1986 TV series)

And then of course there was the Gorillaz-inspired version for the BBC's 2008 Olympics coverage...

Was it "The Good Life"?

@Roxan yes!!!

smarty pants

It was said by Tom to himself when he was openng his 40th birthday cards, some of which had rather sarcastic messages.
Originally when that episode was released on video in 1986 the BBFC gave it a U certificate. Then that was changed to a PG cerificate in 2000. Although they gave no reason for the change it was probably because of what by then would be regarded as "mild bad language" using the BBFC terminology as it wasn't said in an agressive way.

@El Loro I will have to check that on mine own DVD copy cos i'm sure he called Barbara that word cos she'd done something.

Anyhoo I loved that show and all the characters/actors

Richard Briars with that wonderful voice and Jerry - Paul Eddington, in his last interview when asked how he'd liked to be remembered he said,

"As someone who did very little harm" - a beautiful sentiment

Was it not to do with the wording/verse on his birthday card?
