Monty Halls was inspired by Gerald Durrell's vision to protect and save the natural world. The title of the series is a homage to Gerald Durrell - one of his most famous books being "My Family and Other Animals".

I didn't see the first series and it's quite likely that this was mentioned in that series.

Thanks El I’m not sure if it was mentioned , but I can recommend trying to get the first series on catch up , cos it was very interesting
