I cant help my vast knowledge!!

Im not claiming to know it all, I am just saying, somethings could be handled differently...

that applies to you as well?

yeah, it probably does. But then I have never claimed to always be right, or a saint!!

well done.

admirable.

I'm sorry, I wasn't aware I had "upset" anyone, I've said nothing personal to anyone, or about anyone, just voiced my thoughts, sorry they are not the same as yours, jackson.

If YOU want time to get used to the changes, imagine what THEY need, as they've just been put in this very public position, and are anxious to do the right thing.

We're talking about five reasonable adults, here. If you give them time to figure out the bicycle, they'll do you proud.

Totally agree,  having been a moderator several times as well as a Forum member only on different sites with Mods over the years personally I can't believe how long this is taking to resolve, have never seen anything like this before in my years of being online....but that's my personal experience. Hopefully it will all settle down pretty soon.

amen.

lori.. i do think it would be an idea to outline what we do if we have a disagreement with a mod for future reference.    There has to be a better way to handle it than a public pillorying

Are you quick at everything JB?

i'm sure that's just a vicious rumour..

OT I know but that made me laugh Kaffy....Mr Lee's niece is pregnant, she's 24 and been with her BF since they were 16,her baby is due any time but if anyone asks her dad how she is when baby is due etc his answer is its a vicious rumour, tongue in cheek of course.

~Lee~

Just say "no" to public pillorying, that's what I say.

If you have a problem with a mod, you should follow these steps:

1) Is it something that time will fix? (e.g. a "training" issue). If so, move on.

2) Is there a post that is associated with it, so you can use the report button? If so, use the report button.

3) If not, you can PM me. I'm really hoping that RARELY happens, because the intent IS to allow these guys to do their job without second-guessing them or me telling them what to do, but in cases of extreme unhappiness, feel free to PM me.

I did say, more than once in this thread!

but we shall sweep it all under the carpet for the sake of forum peace eh. What is the point of debate, on a forum of all places?

Excuse my ignorance, Lori but if a post is reported, would it not be alerting the Mods here and not yourselves as they are now assuming responsibility and you are backing off? If it alerts you, what happens when you are sleeping/away, will the board Mods not be aware of any posts being reported? The posts may be BB related, not Mod.

I've enjoyed posting with many of the people on here over the years, and will no doubt bump into some of you again in the future. It will be interesting to hear who is the first person to get banned for atrocious spelling or poor grammar, and how long it takes for Real's latest reincarnation to be bopped

I'm backing off, but I'll still be around for awhile. The report button will alert any mod staff who is subscribed to it, so if it's something you don't want them to see, you should PM me.  However, I still encourage the report button. One cal learn from one's mistakes, you know.

I have effectively been called unprofessional on this thread because I commented on the CONTENT of a post, not the poster as some would like to believe.

Given all that, why is this thread still here and why are we all still able to post in it?

And herein lies the problem of a FM becoming a mod. Impossible to be impartial and too much history to make it possible to exist in the forum while moderating the content.

Not trying to have a go Fluff i'm just using this as an example. If this is going to have a chance then the new mods need to develop a thicker skin and everyone else needs to give them time to learn the ropes.

and tbh removing a perfectly ok post is not a good start neither is a brusque tone when reprimanding.. a soft and gentle hand is needed for Modding roles..  if I am not allowed to say what I think because it doesn't toe the party line there has to be something wrong there.... and as a long time member surely I am allowed my say just as all the happy clappy, go with the flow, backslapping people are too..

What i mean is this is how things are going to be here now so we either get on with it or join somewhere else, i don't know which post you are on about being removed but they've only been doing the job for a few days so there are bound to be teething problems and if people keep pulling them up about what they are doing and they pack in then we'll probably be shut down and i think none of us want that, let's just give them a try and see how things pan out

but to me if what they do do is so obviously wrong they need to be pulled up in the early stages so they too can learn how to Mod.. after all they volunteered so that we could 'save' the community but surely we should all get a little bit of input too when things are going wonky?

Also if non of them have ever done it before it makes it even harder to know what to do as well without feedback

I agree with you on that but i don't think we need to make it so obvious, let them settle in first and then let us see how it's going

Let's not fall out over this olly, i'm obviously wording what i'm trying to say wrong

Maybe, and the highlighted bit could be construed (or misconstrued) as a side swipe at me. Did I retalliate?....No, I ignored it,

Oh, give it up... you made two posts as a new member and you think any of this about you As if a new member would think that they're that significant so as a long term poster would leave because of them But much, much, more sadly, that an old member would think so  Go have your pity party elsewhere.

On second thoughts, even Real wouldn't be this bleeding obvious, so, if you've newly regged to pretendy be him then just sod off, pretty please

Growlybear either he or she made references to me being Real incarnated. I registered on here to prove the post i read on DS by the person mentioned was untrue- This was about this place not registering members as it was a friends only forum. I am sorry you take this view but am sorry that growlybear is leaving.

Take no notice of the malice posted on here from some members who take it upon themselves to spit venom at all those they do not like before riding off into the sunset. Why not just leave without the drama?

arrrrrrrrrgggggh fgs Fluffs again I repeat, I never said I thought it was you that deleted a post.... *brickwallheadbang*

as for being heavy handed yeah I think your tone of post was heavy handed and can put peoples backs up.. as was said if you are going to Mod you need to be objective and not take things personally or bite your tongue if something gets to you like Lori does cos you can't mediate a thread properly if you are emotionally invested in it.. ... maybe check out some of Lori's posts when dealing with stuff that needed dealing with, firm but polite and impersonal... I know it may feel like you are getting picked on but it's not the case or intended to be the case. . we need to know the mods will behave how Lori did and need to be able to say if they don't..

lal I am waiting for growly to get back to me re the deleted post. . I only mentioned it cos she had deregged when she noticed it and couldn't post about it and as she is a personal mate of mine in RL I did it for her.. I'll let you know what she says

Yes, you went on to say to a forum member that Growlys post was below the belt....hardly "impartial" Fluffy!  As olly said, dont take it personally... it is just that we have been fortunate with the way we are treated on here, and dont see why it should change!!

zazz

Olly, the moderators including Lori have already been discussing over the past 14 hours the concerns that people have raised in connection with the matters you have raised. (Zazz, your last post was posted after I started this posting, so I've just seen it, but it matches Olly's comments).

I'll post part of what Lori has said to us moderators:

"I rarely delete posts, and I always post that I've done so, otherwise they all get up in arms, as you've seen. Even tense discussion is OK, as long as no rules are broken. Remember the light touch: give them the chance to work it out. And, you're gonna see some posts that question your actions. Best to leave those be: speech is pretty much freely allowed here, even opinions that run counter to the management.

Don't take them personally, either. You all have a good support base with members, and they (and you) just need time for this situation to get resolved."

It's a learning experience for us moderators so please allow for that.

As Lori has already posted, if a member is unhappy with a comment that a moderator has made the member can report that post. That report goes into the moderation queue which can be seen by all of the moderators. Alternatively, a major concern can be sent in a PM/dialog to Lori for her to look at.

El Loro

Lori speaks sense and seems to be saying what I and others have said

Tho I am sorry but I refuse to report a post if I have a concern I can discuss out in the open. . it may just be me but I find the act of reporting something a tad sneaky and I don't feel comfortable doing it. . I prefer to address an issue openly so on that point I will have to break the 'rule'.. sorry

gawd I'd love to have access to your Mod forum or thread.. I think my ears are probably burning for a good reason

I agree with that - and I just want to clarify that when I asked where we report a mod to, I was envisaging a situation where someone has been banned or suspended or whatever unfairly.   Of course, had I thought about it, I'd have remembered that the newbie mods can't ban off their own bat.  Anyhoo.... looks like Lori's got it sussed and I hope the mods will rise above the personal stuff that gets aimed at them.  It's not a job I'd like and tbh would totally spoil my enjoyment of BB if I was reading posts with a view to moderating them.
