Thanks Baz

For reasons best known to the BBC the episode on Monday 8th is scheduled to be shown in two halves:
19.35 to 20.05
then Eastenders
and the second half 20.30 to 21.00

Thursday 11th 21.00 to 22.00
Friday 12th 20.30 to 21.30

Thanks El â€Ķdoes seem a bit a strange â€Ķ.especially as Eastenders could easily have been shown at 19.35 !

Hopefully the timings will settle down a bit â€Ķ

There are six weeks for this series, the first 4 weeks are the heats, the 5th week the semi-finals, with the finals in the last week. There are 22 episodes in all.
So that suggests that the first 4 weeks have 4 episodes with the 5th and 6th weeks 3 episodes each.

The first heat with 4 chefs tonight.
The first episode is the Skills Test. Marcus's test for 2 of the chefs the classic bangers and mash served with a beer and onion gravy, Monica's test for the other 2 monkfish with a pea and bacon ragout.
In the second episode the 4 chefs return to create their Signature dishes - a main and a dessert.
2 of the 4 go home, the other 2 through to Friday's quarter-finals

Thanks El â€Ķ.if they can’t do those skills tests they probably shouldn’t be professionals

Marcus and Monica will be looking very closely at the skills the chefs demonstrate with both tests. You'll see with Marcus's preparation of bangers and mash that his sauce is rather special, that the bangers are fried so that they are evenly browned, that the mash is passed through a sieve to ensure it's smooth - the chefs are given 20 minutes and if they rush through in 10 minutes that won't impress.
