I really hate that phrase and its meaning, and I can't get the image of it out of my head every-time you plaster it all over this forum.
I have to agree.  not cos of it's meaning, just because it sounds so horribly cheap american teen film

sorry Senora - I like you but the phrase makes me cringe - but please continue to slag off JJ, though and  I shall happily join in

I saw him clapping but I don't think he was clapping in celebration - think it just seemed like a nervous response.
After watching it again, it looked more like an acknowledgement than anything. It appeared (IMO) to be on a par with the other HMs who clapped as Sunshine climbed the stairs. [BTW: it may just be my imagination, but I thought I heard someone-else clapping at the same time: impossible to say for certain, though, because of the restricted camera shot.]

A final point: JJ was one of the first to give Sunshine a hug.

can't stand the knobber.......he's petty, childish and blames everyone else when things go wrong that he's caused.....after seeing sunshine's carpet burn caused by him dragging her across the floor....he deserves a kick in his vegimite sandwich.
he's one of those blokes who thinks he can get by and do what he likes cos he's a 'pretty boy'.......but he's selective......would he gob off at steve or shabby or nathan?.....no chance..they'd eat him for breakfast and he knows it

Bit of lynch mob mentality going on here.  If you watch it again you`ll see that JJ actually looked really gutted when Sunshine`s name was called.

Lynch mob  Some house mates you like some you don't, JJ can talk to women anyway he wants, but we shouldn't have an opinion of him! Last week he was crying buckets when Govan went, JJ's so fickle, he moves from who he perceives as popular.

think he'd thought they were announcing it like the last couple of times , safe ones first.
I thought the same. My OH was talking at the time (grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr) and I wasn't paying attention.

I know it's unpopular to say it but .........I think JJ is just incredibly immature - a silly little boy. I said it last night - I'll say it again - I'd have been peed off if someone threw water on my bed. He told her not to do it and said he'd throw her in the pool. Just as he is a little boy - so Sunshine is a little girl .........she was flirting outrageously and then panicked when it got out of hand.

jj's problem is.....if he does something in his eyes 'it's funny'...if someone else does something it's not and he has to issue a 'warning'.....he did it with both josie and sunshine........he can dish it out but he can't take it..he'll blame anyone rather than take responsibility for his own actions......he can goad and taunt.....ie:rachel,ben....but if someone gives it back he can't take it..then plays the victim

Is tad American? It has been around for years.
yes, but not forever,  I remember when it started here and it has never sounded right to me...what's wrong with using a bit, or a little!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now I am going to have to look it up... I am sure I have heard it in old films... " a tad more sugar old bean" sort of thing.

All part 'n' parcel of "globalization" - no culture is absolutely free from it.
oh I don't mind importing bits and pieces from all countries...it makes life more colourful ...........it's just the massive overdose of american culture that  irritates me,   A lot of it is just cheap and nasty and derived from shit downmarket  crap TV programmes

You should have seen the steam come out of my ears when the BBC morning news people starting using "drive-time" instead of rush hour

I think Shabby and Caoimhe are far worse to be honest
I would like to see the evidence against Shabby.

JJ treated Rachael horrendously in an aggressive and intimidating manner - the poor girl had done nothing wrong - other than expressing some natural mannerism with her eyes that he took great offence to - but also does himself!

Just a few days ago we saw Sunshine withdraw under her duvet with her eyes welling up unable to take any more of JJ's so called humour - he just simply couldn't stop and leave her alone. Ironically(or hypocritically, even) he was doing to Sunshine what he had accused Josie of having done to him.

I'm finding JJ a fascinating character to watch. He strikes me as a complex individual who displays good and bad qualities; unfortunately the bad qualities might outweigh the good.
