I was gonna go for Duran Duran's Rio album, bit thought it might be a little lowbrow.
It's hard to pick, tomorrow I'd probably say Bridge Over Troubled Water or Abba's Arrival.

Its brilliant as he tell a story of a village/town and the people, he tells the story between songs, just great imo (there is an album Greendale, which is just the songs and no story telling)

It's from Hunky Dory. 
I have to add that I also adore "night at the Opera" by Queen, 'Theodore and Friends" by The Adventures, both "Oxygene" and "Equinoxe" by Jean Michel Jarre and the B-side of Abbey Road is the best B-side of any album ever but I do love Revolver. I love many albums, it's very hard to choose just one. Because my musical taste is very eclectic (it's not uncommon for Mozart to shoulder up against Blur and then be followed by Gershwin) it's very difficult to just pick one album.
Lots here I like...some I've never heard of and will check out. I've really rather surprised myself with my choice, but, on the basis that I like every single track and it has lots of great associated memories, I'm (maybe?) going for Alison Moyet's Raindancing. For the same reasons EBG Acoustic and Gregson and Collister's Love Is A Strange Hotel are strongly in the running......Oh bugga I've changed my mind already, I'm going for Gregson and Collister!

Same here LLF. I was in Southern Africa this Summer and driving about sometimes the only radio stations with a clear enough signal were either Rock or Country (sorry Jer) stations. I was surprised at how much I loved (and knew the words) of so many songs I hardly listen to. The ones that stick in my mind were rocking out to 'Owner of a lonely heart' by Yes going through Botswana and some Jim Reeves and Lady Antebellum country music at the Victoria Falls.

I love Squeeze, Croc I'm going to see Glenn Tilbrook in November - he's just as good on his own.
How cool, Croc - I'm all excited I've just seen him the once, one of the best gigs I've been to, tiny wee venue. Have you seen the whole band? I'd love to see them all play, not managed that yet (I'm not into this all standing venue nonsense)
