Sorry never saw your reply

Hayfever is hurting my eyes terribly and my mum is not very well so its on hold PLUS i'm having to catch up with F1 as it happens

So ... I've watched 3 episodes and finding it a very quirky, different and fascinating series - never a fan of Billy Bob but he's fitting the role well in Fargo.

Martin Freeman is excellent

Glad I chose to watch it

Now .... only The 4400 and HEROES to catch up on  - AND of course Made in Chelsea (It's like the Mother Ship calling me hone)

Hope you both feel better soon @Saint.

I know the new series starts on Wednesday, but you can always record it or do a catchup at some point.

Enthusiastic Contrafibularities

Hopkins is beneath contempt.  Tweating about "final solution" she is f***** disgrace to the people who fought against Nazi Germany.  Why is it that far right demagogues use the same rhetoric as those that killed so many innocent people?

A z lister who failed to get on BB, managed to get on the Apprentice and now spouts her bile for anyone who'll fill her pockets with gold.  A Guardian article rightly pointed out that she had nothing to say about recent domestic US gun massacres because she knows opposing gun proliferation in the US won't get her any fans on Fox News.

Carnelian

As I understand it, Harris has NOT been found 'Not Guilty' - the jury failed to reach a verdict. This was a retrial on three of the charges, so the prosecution have decided not to request a second retrial.

Legally , he's considered innocent of the charges, but of course his previous convictions stand.

IMO, it all rather illustrates the difficulties in getting convictions in historical abuse cases.

 Agree with all of that

I put it to you Eugenie (sounds like Rumpole of the Bailey) that the prosecution failed to deliver prosecution evidence - hence the jury could reach no decision.

Firstly (and rather obviously): IANAL.

That said: you're quite right that the prosecution failed to prove their case beyond reasonable doubt. I was just making the (admittedly rather pedantic) point that he wasn't "found not guilty" because no jury delivered such a verdict.

Harris comes out best from this in that he walks free, but arguably it's a result that doesn't fully satisfy anyone. He remains a convicted sex offender, and I suspect he won't have the peace he craves as he'll forever have to worry that further evidence will be found, or other alleged victims will press charges. I also wonder just what state his home life is in given that he admitted having a relationship with one of his daughter's friends (although not, he claims, while she was underage).

Personally, I hope he sticks to his word as I've no desire to see or hear from him ever again: a view, I suspect, shared by many of his victims (both proven and alleged).
