...I mean I like them AS a housemate. I may not necessarily like them as a person. As Leccy pointed out earlier Ben is a good housemate and I'd imagine not bad company at all on a night out but if I had to live with them I'd probably find Corin and Steve far easier to get along with. I know a lot of people like to support the "nice" housemates but I've always liked the game players and shit strirrers quite frankly.

Ben is funny (whether intentionally or not) but having worked with three selfish arseholes just like him for the last few months on a day to day/confined space basis I'd probably have strangled him with his own dressing gown cord by now.

JJ amuses me as a viewer but if I was in that house I'd insist he spent at least 6 hours of the day gagged to give the rest of us some peace and quiet.

Shabby would have discovered that bloody hat in a place she least expected.

I know there are a fair few here who think the same way, which is a bloody relief. I just wanted to set out my stall so that if I ever post anything supportive about any of them you know where I'm coming from.

I'm kinda with you, Cariad.      My problem is with the really nasty ones (like Charley for instance)    I love watching them and having them drive me mad for the duration... but when they're up for the vote, my conscience won't let me reward the nastiness by voting for their opponent...and, as always, they go far too soon.    It's a dimella I've never got over

Yep! Wholeheartedly agree.  Makosi was scary and more than a bit bonkers, I would not have liked to live with her, but she made bloody good telly.

I love Corin this year and I'd class her as one of the "nice" HMs but a house full of Corin's wouldn't be very entertaining.  We need JJ and Ben.  Ben is a wind up merchant and JJ bites, every time.  Last night's bedroom was hilarious viewing.

Good post Cariad

i'm much the same cariad, if i wanted  a friend , i'd probs go for corin and steve, not that i'd want them to visit that often.

but a bb  winner? i'd have to go with ben, who i dislike quite a lot  or shabs, who i like quite a lot.

jj won't be evicted this week and that's good ,even tho he irritates the hell out of me.

nathan is the better choice to go.

I hated Charly, this year I hate Kevin and Dave, but the ones who aren't out and out villains...the ones who are more complex (for my money, Science, Makosi, this year Ben and JJ) I love watching them.  I find JJ fascinating in some way, I want to figure him out.

Gypsie had a thread the other night saying she thought a lot of HMs were complex this year...I agree.  Apart from Kevin who is as shallow as a puddle

Oh I agree Kaffy. The really nasty ones (like Grace IMO) I don't find entertaining because their airtime largely involves negatively de-constructing (I'm not a fan of the b word) other housemates. And who was the one who hounded Sophie (the one who later married Lee I think)? THAT is not entertaining viewing.

I know one person's entertaining housemate is another's vicious thug so it's a fine line sometimes. For example, a lot of people loathed Rex but playing BB at his own game by spending the entire shopping budget on those vouchers was superb in my view.

Great post Cariad

i always like the Barsteward housemates Ben, Rex , Victor, the list goes on but i wouldnt want to be bessie mates with them and i wouldn't get on with them in the house either

as much as Davina winged about Ben not doing the tasks on fridays big mouth i was thinking thats what makes it so funny for me to watch as he doesn't seem to understand the consequences or care    i generally hate the rule breakers ie kitten or siavash but i've got a soft and really don't care about the others so Ben does no wrong in my eyes

Ah Leccy, you're having a laugh, two major pains in the ar*e.
They were but I don't think they were full of malice.  Not like Alex *pow pow memba ah told ya* Grace, Sleazer...

The ones I like can show sparks of humanity, Rex was a smug arrogant git but he was witty, that house wouldn't have been the same without him.  Rachael was lovely, he was rotten to her but he had loads of priceless quotes.

Cariad, what does negatively de-constructing other housemates mean? I am one of those that absolutely LOATHED Rex, what he did is no different to what Grace or any other pain in the bum house mate did! Both affected housemates negatively. One may perceive Rex as being the cleverer of the two but he wasn't, not by a long shot.

I was trying to avoid the b word.  It means their airtime is largely about targeting another housemate and pulling them apart, rather than providing any entertainment. Now I'm not convinced Rachel would agree she was bullied but I can only refer you to my learned friend Leccy's post above....

he thought people like Ben only existed on the Titanic,
He must be disappointed they're still about then.  My son came home today and told me he'd spent history watching "the worst film ever". I thought he meant The Da Vinci Code and was mentally composing a letter to his teacher when he said they'd been lumbered with Titanic and "that bloody song".

Hahahahahahahahaha he best never visit Ben's pad then....Apparently he got a spark in to sort the leccy so if/when he brings a lady home when he turns on the lights with the dimmer switch mood music comes on too.
