Remembered something

Harry was in court for tax evasion , but got away with it because he could barely read or write so trusted his advisors and accountant....case dismissed

That's like saying I got fat drinking coke because i didn't know diet coke existed

Yes

To be fair though I do think that accountants should be accountable (see what I did there) for their advice. Harry can afford a good defence the rest of us would have had to pay a massive fine. If a financial company gives bad advice then they can be claimed against and fined by the FCA.

So if they believed he had bad advice I take it his accountants went to jail...or were at least charged with misconduct?

The clue is in the word advice.....you can suggest with the caveat that it could contravene the law, but not recommend it directly, then if the client goes ahead then on their head be it.....it would be in writing, but as Harry claimed that he could hardly read, he didn't read anything.....everybody walks

Don't get me wrong, I don't like the shrieking and stupid horsing around, but James is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too far at the other end of the scale.

I am pretty sure he can read to a decent level but I am also sure the prosecution couldnt prove that so very expensive lawyers are worth their money arent they.

I only ran a small company nothing like the level that Harry would and my accountant would do everything I just had to submit the accounts and take all responsibility...Added to that  HMRC are delightfully vague about some rules and change their mind on a whim at times.

Don't start about HMRC....they're the devil......I worked for one of the big boys and what clients attempted to fiddle doesn't bear thinking about...nuff said!

Thanks Bethni ....I still don’t recognise her

She was in Crossroads, apparently , reached no.2 back in the 80's and voiced Spitting Image for years.
