...Two illegal street parties have been broken up by police during another night of unlawful gatherings in London.

And it still happens despite all the attendees knowing that they should not. Yes, I did say ALL, because you must have been living on Jupiter not to know what is happening with C-19.

I totally agree EC .....I’m not usually a fan of a police state , but in this case I think they should be given more powers , and turn the bliddy water canon on them

The statue in that photograph is actually a drinking fountain. It's known as the Temperance Fountain and depicts a woman giving a beggar some water. It was commissioned in 1884 in the hope that it would encourage people to stay sober rather  than get drunk on beer.

Thanks Fluffs and @velvet donkey I am sorry I keep complaining, it’s just that the total lack of leadership and the hatefulness of the followers is really getting to me.

I've never seen any of your posts as complaining, just commenting on your status over there!

How can you lockdown a city?  Control all the roads/trains/rivers in and out? It’s not the place but the people who are infectious, you are bolting the stable door after the horse has left

Realistically they can lockdown businesses/ parks/schools /shops etc, but it is the people that are infectious and they will just travel further afield unless ways in and out are patrolled

This much is true Machel ....but I’m presuming that , hopefully , they will enforce lockdown some way .

I'm getting deja vu of BJ and his Gov

It's like Tony Blair and everything just wonderful all over again ... in the middle of a world tragedy

How can we "build, build, build" in a time of recession and mass unemployment and pandemic and death?

Bloody imbecile

Up to 3 million Hong Kong residents are to be offered residency in the UK

Are all the people in Hong Kong British Nationals Overseas?

Anyhoo . . . years ago we were heading to the airport in London and the taxi driver saw a broken down car - he must have known on that route they were going to the airport.

So he stopped and they came along with us and we split the costs - nice!

They told me they came from Hong Kong and said they felt betrayed by the British Gov after HK was handed to China and that sooner or later China would do what ever they wanted with HK regardless of UK/China agreement.

They were not happy and seemed a bit anxious back then

A German national of my acquaintance has just flown into the UK, clutching details of where he intended to subject himself to a 14 day quarantine. He asked with whom he should lodge those details. Nobody knew. He walked through and out of the airport unchallenged.
Dame_Ann_Average

75 countries. SEVENTY-FIVE, to be exempt from quarantine!!!! Why bother? They might as well list those that WILL need to be quarantined. I'm sure that list will be shorter!

Totally mad , isn’t it EFFT

If you weren't aware of it, mandatory MOT testing on vehicles resumes from 1 August. There had been a temporary 6 month exemption from 30 March to 30 September but that now ends from 31 July.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-53221512
Applies in England, Wales and Scotland.

They have made it really hard to get tested in Orlando. Outdoor testing at the convention center 9am till they run out or pass out. No appointments, people are lining up all night and still not getting seated, and the poor medics are out there in hazmat suits in the full sunshine in a heat wave.

24% of tests are coming back positive, way up from last week. I think they are making it harder to get tested to manipulate the numbers so they can justify letting the theme parks reopen.

Please everyone, be careful as the UK reopens.

Awww that’s awful Roxan ....what a nightmare

@El Loro El , my browser is saying that parts of this thread are unsecure .....I think it’s one of the clips above that is doing it .

Baz, I've just checked every page of this topic. The only thing I found was in fact a BBC video clip that I had embedded here some weeks ago. So I've deleted it. For some unknown reason any embedded BBC video clip on this site does result in it being shown as insecure. Strange as those BBC clips appear to come from a https link rather than http and I used their embed code which they only supply on clips they are happy for people to embed elsewhere. It's something I found ages ago and did notify the BBC about this but they never did anything about it.

Hopefully, you won't see an insecure message now
