I think the PM is hoping they can see this through, but if it continues on and the Gov lose political capital, he will be ditched. I think he is well aware of this and is wanting the former, but if the latter happens, he has not thrown the PM under the bus.

Was his tank full in London or did he fill up in London before setting off. He drives a Range Rover does he not? Not the most economical vehicle.

I agree with most of that EC ....but do you think he really cares about not throwing Boris under a bus ? I think he’s way too mercenary and arrogant to care about that .

Yes, but only in the sense that the PM may have given him some assurance to future work, be it a recommendation or through contacts. A golden handshake if you will.  That's just me speculating.

We have had that question. These journalists should sort out what they are going to ask so we get lots of different questions or probing variants upon them.
