He comes across as a bit of an idiot, but I sense a bit of canniness there too. I think the idiot outdoes the canniness though!

A bit of an idiot? Nah, he's much more than that

I agree on that score
Canniness, no he's dangerous, him and that vermin Cummings

When Johnson became PM, I meant to ask you, Velvet, if you knew what the odds were on him becoming the shortest-serving PM in history.
Iâm regretting not following-up on that now...

You should have backed Thundering Surf. At Royal Ascot. 12/1. Few years ago though. There's never been a better named horse.
And I hope your gambling life takes a big upturn
He vowed to "go to Brussels and get a deal" that would allow the UK to leave the EU on 31 October.
So why doesn't he just go and get this deal done - and stop all this flapping around!

He's done no such thing. He's playing for time
As with everything he says - it's just a lot of hot air!
If he really meant most of the things he's said we might actually have a workable deal and be ready to leave in a dignified fashion.
I've been reminded a lot recently of a "joke" that's apparently been following Johnson around for a while:
"There are two types of people in Westminster: those who like Boris Johnson, and those who know him..."
Did the dirty on his wife. Unforgivible. All his children hate him.
It's not going so well for him
velvet donkey posted:Did the dirty on his wife. Unforgivible. All his children hate him.
Well, those that we know of, anyway...
Nish Kumar made this point on last week's "Mash Report": Johnson's such a massive liar that no-one knows how many children he has. His Wikipedia page gives the number as "5 or 6"!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boris_Johnson
Nish also pointed out that "Boris" hasn't even been honest about his name: his first name is actually "Alexander"...
Boris Johnson told Leo Varadkar a no-deal Brexit would be "a failure of statecraft"
----------------------------------------
So how come everything he says and does seems to be aiming for a no deal?
If 'no deal' is such a betrayal, why is he so insistent that we leave on 31 October 'with or without' a deal?
Johnson denies lying to Queen over Parliament suspension. Well, isn't that a surprise - NOT!
As if he would admit it if it was true!
I cannot stand the man but underestimate him at your peril. He plays the buffoon but he is extremely clever and dangerous. I donât doubt that what is happening now is part of a very calculated plan.
Is he the best of a bad job?............I am not into party politics, bit like sorting out 'who did it' in a school playground to me.

I agree Syd

Bad job? - yes. Best of? - NO!

He's definitely dangerous machel.
Extremely clever I doubt. Self entitled.
He pulled out of today's conference because of a few hecklers!

Vacuous to say the least.....it's all about me, me me, if you can't stand the heat.....
Supreme Court rules AGAINST Boris, Parliament to reconvene tomorrow. (Wednesday 25/9/2019)
He is such a piece of shit wanker.
He's gone through life doing whatever suits himself with no regard to the hurt he causes - particularly to his family, where most self centred shits would draw the line.
Self serving, arrogant, cynical career liar, thinks the country's his meal ticket, thinks the law is for other people but not him, thinks he can do what he likes to whom he likes with no recourse. He is scum!
Anyone that having seen events from the HoC tonight, I'm at a loss as to how you would vote for an absolute shit or a party like this!

Me too. That was different level.
"Shit" being the operative word.

There is no deal if the EU saw that yesterday.

I still like Jess Philips
It's wild. Dominic Raab Foreign Secretary. No respect for him - none.
Sajid Javid Chancellor. My dad was a bus driver. Alright we know - you've traded on it for long enough. No offence to bus drivers but why bring him into it?
Whitehall will hold your hand Javid.

I still luvs you though Velvet, but your taste in politicians
If they ran the referendum again, I think (personally) that the result would be NOT to leave. I think a greater proportion of the voting public would turn out to vote than did originally. I think a lot of people didn't bother to vote because it was seen as a dead cert. that the general feeling in the country was to remain in Europe and the proportion that wanted to leave would be so tiny as to be insignificant.
The point is, we can keep on running the referendum but whatâs the point of a democratic vote if we donât abide by it?
What if it was re-ran and it was the same margin but to stay, do we then have another?

My feelings exactly Moonie ....if this is anything to go by we will end up rerunning every darn election we ever have , cos its never 100% whichever way you cut it ! Strikes me itâs fast becoming a case of whoever can shout loudest , and be the most disruptive wins ....itâs like watching toddlers in a playground !

I think it would turn out to be much the same result
