Evening All.

Not a very nice day with rain threatening all the time, 22c so not cold with a fresh breeze.

Had bacon eggs sausage and beans for brekkie, 2pm had a bowl of jellied eels, tonight had a dressed crab, mostly thick on some bread.

Been watching some of Bobby Fishers chess games, hes so good, vdry interesting, the one i was playing with my lad yesterday i won.

The workmen arrived outside by the new streetlamp position and removed the old concrete one, they haven't filled the hole in fully or put the flags back, probably a different crew.

Made my shopping list out, Mrs H amalgamates it with her list for the mornings shopping.

Stay safe, keep smiling and sleep tight.

Baz

hope you had a good day and slept ok. How is your ankle now?

Hicky

it has been very grey here too, but warm and humid. Some rain showers too. Managed to walk the dog between showers though.

I see you have been enjoying your sea food today.

Your time with the chess club sounded good fun for you. Well done winning your son at another game.

At least your dry ice meant your fish was kept nice and cool, even though it sounds you need to be careful with it.

The fibre broadband we have says it goes up to 59 mbs, but they told me it was due to our distance from the phone exchange we can only get about 12mbs.

Thanks for the test link, just did it and we had 12.12mbs down and 5.75mbs up.

Hope MrsH gets all you want on your shopping list.

I had pizza bread pitta with sweet potato chips and baked beans for tea, and scone, clotted cream and strawberries again.

Watching Paul Ogrady dogs now.

Have a good evening both xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

Yes, the crab and jellied eels went down a treat, plenty more to go.

Your fibre sounds like it only part fibre because fibre doesn't matter about distance like wires, and 85 is what i used to get with part fibre, you have probably got some fibre in the middle section but non into your house, 12 gown and 5 up is dreadful what the speed test showed.

You eat as well as me, your tea sounds delish.

Hope you stay safe and sleep tight.

Hicky

Afternoon Mollie and HickyNot a bad day here at chez Baz I slept reasonably well ....gardener has been so lawns are looking good ....towels washed and dried ...kitchen and bathroom cleaned ....bird food and new bird feeder delivered (so birds are happy) .....hoovering and dusting done ....and early b’day parcel arrived ....not that I’ve opened them  Now I’m sitting here stuffed after a lunch of honey roast salmon , parsnips and chips Hope you are all having a good day too

Mollie , how are things where you are ? Looks like we are going to get a nice weekend weather wise , so I’m guessing you will be out there on your swing Your tea sounded yummy We watched Celeb Gogglebox USA last night , it was quite amusing Hicky , how are your eyes doing these days ? And your sons knee ? I’m intending taking my ankle for another test walk tomorrow I can actually walk up the stairs properly now ....one foot then the other one .....but coming down is still a bit difficult cos I’ve still not got full mobility /bending action ....but I’m getting there slowly

Well, I’m off to check the tv schedule for tonight .....but I will definitely be watching Escape to the Chateau at 8Hope you both have an enjoyable evening , whatever you are up to . Take care

Baz

Evening Baz.

Glad to hear you slep better, also great that you can walk upstirs again, yes coming down puts a lot of strain on ankles, just be careful you hold on thats the main thing.

You did a lot of work as well today, the birds will be your friend for ever now, that honey roast salmon sounds lovely, i've just made a fish madras with rice, nice.

Had a portion of rather big strawberries ealier, so nice.

My eyes seem about the same really, lwft one not a lot of use so can't tell distance of course, can just manage with the right one, if i go in the sun then can't see much when i come back in, should wear sun glasses outside really.

My Lads knee is ok, he went aways for a night to St Ives or somewhere and it was fine.

Yes, escape to the Chateau, will have to look after that.

Got F1 on for the next 3 days on Sky F1 so thats fine with me.

Had 3 fried eggs fro brekkie, this curry is rather nice, didn't put the fish in the curry as it might have broken up so laid it over the rice and poured the curry over it.

Been playing videos of old chess games from the past, learning some clever traps..

Keep safe and keep smiling, sleep well.

Hicky

Baz

glad to see you didn't have a bad day today and that you slept well.

Yes I bet those birds are happy visiting your garden as you look after them so well. We get lots too, because MrM bought a giant bag of bird seed, so they should be happy for awhile.

How nice you got an early birthday pressie, when is your birthday?

Sounds like it could be a bit too hot this weekend here, up to 30c, but as you say, I will make it some time onto my swingchair, will just go out early if its a hot day. I like to read my book or listen to LBC on the swingchair.

I watched the Chateu too tonight. I've never seen Celeb Gogglebox USA, what channel is it on?

Sounds like you are making really good progress on that ankle. Great you can do the stairs like that, hope the test walk goes well tomorrow. Take care coming down those stairs though.

Hope you sleep well again tonight.

Hicky

No wonder my gamer boy compains about the speed on our intenet. On checking that really good link you sent me, I can see the speeds in Wales are the slowest in the UK, and interestingly I noticed when you go across the channel the other countries are a lot faster than the UK's. What speeds are yours there? Openreach have been back again today laying cables, so you never know, it might work better soon.

Yes you really should wear sunglasses outside as the sun is so strong right now. I never go out without them, I reckon its because I have blue eyes, so can't cope so well as MrM can with his brown ones in the sun. Although I also have fair hair,so  I am lucky my skin doesn't burn in the sun though. Does your skin cope well in the sun Hicky?

That's good your son is doing well enough to be able to go away to St Ives, that is a long way to travel from where you are. Is he driving ok now with his knee?

I am sure you will enjoy your F1 this weekend.

I see you are still enjoying your chess. We played the card game Uno again.

We had halloumi wraps for tea, with salad, (MrM's tomatoes from the garden) and strawberries, clotted cream and scone again).

Have a good evening both xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

On the speed test i've had 135 download and 29 upload, sometimes its only 135 down, it probably depends on the day or the time of day, not sure.

My skin is ok in the sun, when i was in Singapore for 18 months with that sun burning down we didn't use sun cream, we used a mixture of coconut oil and olive oil, thats all i used, when i can home i was almost black.

I assume my lad is driving, didn't ask but he said a while back he was allowed to.

I had loads of strawberries, just cored them and ate them, didn't even bother with a dish, will do with the next punit.

Been watching chess games from a high level chess club in the US.

Take care, stay safe and sleep tight.

Hicky

both xxx

Baz

hope you slept ok and had a good day and hope the walk went well.

Hicky

gosh your speed is incredible compared to ours. Ours went off all together in the middle of the night again last night for awhile, so annoying when it does this as I listen to the radio in bed.

I thought you'd said before that you were lucky in that your skin doesn't burn. Its a good thing as it means you can absorb vit D before winter arrives whilst enjoying being outdoors. I don't wear that suncream either, just put some of the oil on, to put the insects off biting me. I remember that coconut oil many used in the sun, I liked the smell of it.

The strawberries are lovely right now, so no wonder you ate a pummet straight off.

So hot most of the day, luckily (as it was too hot) it clouded over later, and we have a bit of a breeze now. Didn't do much , just changed the bed, did 5 loads of washing, went on the rower for 8 mins, then sat in garage (as it was too hot in garden) , had 2 cool showers as I was so hot and read my book. MM did a BBQ. Chicken wings for family and MrM did some plain chicken in squasted Doritos, egg and spices that he'd seen a chef do on tv. We had sweet potatoes and sweetcorn on the BBQ too.

Watching Vera now. I enjoy it, (just like Emptybox used to).

Frogot to say we went to seafront yesterday , timed it before the weekend so it wan't busy. I had my fave lime striped cornet. It was fairly busy, but not as busy as normal for the main holiday period as the hotels are still closed. Very nice day for a walk on seafront didn't take dog as too hot for her. She did go a short walk yesterday evening and this evening when it had cooled down.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

Thought i had posted, oh dear, been playing chess again, i won.

Its so hot in the bungalow 26.3c by the computer.

Had a bit of a swing on the swingseat, not too long, it was hot.

I had 2 Manx kippers for brekkie, so nice, for tea had chicken wings.

I made a 4 minute video using my mobile to send to my lad and to one of my BIL's in Suffolk.

Have you got Whatsapp, if you have i could send you the video, it's 45mb doesn't take long if you have good wifi, you would need to let me have your mobile number of course.

Glad you could get out for an ice cream the other day, i had one of the pineapple lollys i made, not very exiting.

Sleep tight.

Hicky

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky  Cloudy, but quite warm here today....thunderstorms forecast for several days next week  .  It was uncomfortably hot last night so I had a very disturbed sleep . Consequently, I’ve not done a lot today ....just some cleaning and a load of washing . Hope everyone else is enjoying their Saturday

Mollie, the walk went ok thanks....won’t be doing the London marathon any day soon , but ......Don’t think it was quite as hot up here yesterday as it was where you are ....my son , who lives in the New Forest , said it was 34 degrees in his office yesterday morning How lovely that you got to the beach before the crowds ....and that ice cream sounds really yummy My birthday is next week ....so I’ll be knocking another year off my age

Hicky , I used to love pineapple lollies Glad you sons knee is doing well Did you watch Chateau ? Dick Strawbridge is so clever ....he seems to be able to turn his hand to anything .....and Angel is very good at crafting ....although her dress sense leaves a lot to be desired

Not a lot on tv tonight , so it will be nature programmes for me Hope you have a good nights viewing , whatever you are watching . Look after yourselves

Baz

Evening Baz.

Yes, it was hot last night, i slept ok, not sure how, it 26.3c here while i type, your disturbed sleep wont help you.

My lad took his son to the beach today, not sure which one he didn't seem to know, he sent me a picture.

Yes, i watched the Chateau, as you say, Dick is very clever, nothing he can't do, Angel is a strange one, very clever in the design worl, not much she won't try to make.

I'm watching Rolling in it, new on ITV.

I watched the F1 practice and pole races, watched the Masked Singer USA.

Got to make more lollies, not sure what to make, might make a loaf tomorrow, still got a few rounds of the last one in the freezer but i cut the slices too thick.

Star safe and cool, sleep tight.

Hicky

both

Baz

sorry you had a disturbed night last night, not surprising as it was so hot and humid. I too was restless in the heat. Kept my fan on all night.

Don't blame you for not going a lot on such a hot day today, I haven't done much either. Too ho to take doggie a walk.... her and the bunny have been very tired in the heat. Daghter told me she had found an "ice lolly" for the bunny and when I looked he was sitting enjoying a peice of forzen broccoli as his "ice lolly".

So glad to hear the walk went well. You have impoved so well since your op.

Gosh 34c for you son, not good to work in those temperatures. He does live in a beautiful part of the country though.

Yes Angel's dress sense is certainaly unusual, but both of them do really well with their creative ideas.

I agree, tv rubbish tonight, so am curretnly watching a recording of Antiques Roadshow.

Hicky

at you forgetting if you had posted or not because you were so busy playing chest. But glad you are still enjoying your chess.

I'd love to see your videos. Yes of course I'll pass my number on to you. I love whatsap and use it a lot for photos but have trouble poting photos on here. Shall I PM it to you here from the place we originally set up when I had my op?

What a shame your pineapple lolly was not very exciting, I don't think you would find our Sidney bunny's brocolli ice lolly very exciting either.

Don't blame you son taking his son to the beach as it has been so hot. Do your neighbours still have street parties like they used to during lockdown or have they stopped now they can go out elsewhere? My son did an online quiz with his drama group last night but next Friday they are meeting at the pub, so that will be nice for him to see them in person at last. They are only sititng outside though, which I am glad about as I know this virus doesn't spread outside like it does indoors. I noticed lots of pubs have put up outside sun/rain umbrella areas. Cardiff has closed a whole busy street and done this all down the street.

My other lad is in a dliemma. He had a year off his final year of his BSc this year suposedly to go to Japan to practice his language, then covid struck, so he has wasted this year. Now does he go and finish it by going back to Uni this September when he knows most of it will be online? It is a technical course, a lot of it will be using software, so they can do it at home, but they usually also use a studio for part of the course, so not sure how that will work, as the Uni says they have covid rules to follow.

So his other option is to put off Uni another year and try and go to Japan, but of course foregin travel not so good now either, or get a job, but that won't be easy to find one now. He will get a bit of work at the school , exam time but not much. I've told him to apply to Uni now, he has nearly 2 months to consider and see how things go before Uni goes back, he can always refer his offer to next year. .

Too hot to sit outside, so me and MrM sat in garage, I read my book and he did some painting.

Had salad for tea with some left over mash with grilled cheese on top, and potato salad. Then strawberries and cream.

My Morrisons shop came today, so antibacked it all, their food is good quality, but they didn't have any oranges at all this week.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

Had a plate of 3 sausages, 3 hash browns and beans with a round of toast, for tea i had Cauli cheese, made 4 portions, will freeze 3.

Yes, use the usual place to pass your mobile number on, think you need to be VIP to upload pictures from your computer onto this site, but if the pictures are *.jpg  from a site then you can post them.

When i post them i have to send the picture to Twitter then right click and select "open image in a new tab" then you copy the URL to post here using the "insert image" icon on the bar above.

I think what let the pineapple lolly down was either part of the fruit cetre wasn't removed before it went in the tin or i didn't zap it ong enough as it ended up bity/woody bits which i didn't want/

The neighbours stopped having the street parties, think they must have been warned, they have been away this week in their caravan.

Thats good for your drama son, good to meat as long as he stays safe, the other son has a real problem, he needs advice from UNI if he get get it i'm sure there are people he can talk to.

The street lamp still isn't lit but all others in the area are lit, but they haven't been back to finish the hole and put the flags back.

Glad you got your shopping, watched the Voice Kids, wow they are so good for their age, you would never know they were children with voices like that.

Keep safe, sleep tight.

Hicky

Evening Everyone. :

24c today, mostly cloudy with a gentle breeze.

Had egg on toast for brekkie, for tea had a starter of hot and sour soup, made a loaf and cooked a Welsh Hill lamb mini shoulder for the sandwiches, well half as the other half is for a curry tomorrow.

Watched F1, a good race.

Think i will take a look at the Vivaldi spuds i planted to see if they are ready, its said they should be stored in a cool area, dark so i have trays with paper and i have carboard to go over the potatoes, they need 2 weeks to harden off and must be kept out of the light.

Will look what is on tonight on TV, have loads of recording and plenty of chess games to watch,

Time for some Kiwi and cream/ice cream.

Stay safe, stay happy stay in and sleep well.

Hicky

both xxx

Baz

hope you slept ok and managed to get your little walk in today.

Hicky

I bet you enjoyed your cooked brekkie. We had one too today, as we always try to on Sundays.

Pineapples can be a bit difficult to get rid of the stringy bits, oh well you learn by your mistakes, if you did it again, it would probably be much improved.

Hopefully they will finish your street lamp soon. I bet your neighbourhood feels very quiet now the partygoers have gone away on hols.

Son has checked the Uni site and all lectures are to be online for at least the 1st term, and if they need to do anything practical it will be in smalll groups only. I do wonder now if things would be much different virus and learning wise if he delayed another year?

I see you too had the nice weather, we did today, as it was cooler than yesterday and that awful humidity we had yesterday has gone. So doggie got her walk. Washing got dried. Had salad roll for tea and strawberries and cream.

Vivaldi are lovely potatoes, you are so good at growing produce, I am sure you will have no problem.

I am watching Downtown Abbey, its a repeat, but I missed it 1st time round, so at least it gives me something to watch.

Have a good evening both xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

Don't understand why the streetlamp isn't lit again, very strange, they connected it up last week, must be something else needs doing.

The party makers are back from their break, it was quet today though.

I don't know whats best for your lad regarding Uni, i don't know enough about it.

Its 25.9c by my computer now, it was that in my manshed.

I had some Kiwi and banana with cream, very nice.

I just put anything on, i've been watching chess videos, got another game going with my lad.

He went to Wales today and had fish and chips on the beach, he sent me pictures.

I've seen your post, i'll look in the message section.

Good night, stay safe, sleep tight.

Have messaged.

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky  Hope you managed to sleep ok last night .....it was very muggy here ....but I didn’t have a bad night . So far today’s I have anti bac’d the shopping , taken delivery of a birthday present .....and had a visit from my friend She didn’t come in , but I masked up and we sat in back garden ..... it was nice to actually talk to a human being Apart from that I haven’t done much , just a load of washing and cleaned the kitchen . No sign of any thunderstorms yet , but there were a few spits and spots of rain earlier . We really do need a downpour though , just to clear the air ....otherwise it’s going to be another clammy night  Hope you are all having a good Monday , whatever you are doing

Mollie , what a dilemma for your son ....Covid has messed up so much  Two of my grandkids are due to go back to uni in September ....one is doing sports science , the other environmental studies ....but I’m not sure how much of their courses will be online . My other granddaughter was due to get married next year , but they’ve postponed it until 2022....which is probably a wise move . Hicky , nice that your son was able to go and sit on the beach ....and fish and chips always taste better at the seaside Hope they’ve managed to fix your street light today

Baz

Evening Baz.

Glad you managed to get some sleep, it all helps.

24c today here with light cloud, had some sun and it went very dark just before with a thunder clap.

Had bacon on toast for brekkie, for tea had the rest of the lamb from yesterday in a Madras curry with rice.

Dug some of the potatoes up, got a bucket ull anyway.

Been playing chess with my lad online for a bit.

I googled about the internal temperature of a loaf when its done, it seems to b3 190c or 87.7c so going to test it tomorrow as i have the temperature probes, for meat really, i find it very hard to tell when the loaf is done, with my eyes and being colour blind its very difficult.

Its quite a way to the beach for my lad, that one lives in Manchester, nowhere near a Welsh Beach, nice having fish and chips though, and he had mushy peas.

I don't understand the new street light, it wasn't on again last night and the barriers are still around it.

Stay safe, stay in and sleep well.

Hicky

Baz

glad you slept ok and how nice your friend came to visit. Its lucky the weather was good enough to sit in the garden together.

What day is your birthday?

Muggy here too, but no thunderstorms or rain.

Yes probably for the best to put the wedding off for a full year.

Difficult for all students I should think, especially those who need to live away from home. Sounds like it will be difficult for your grandkids courses to be all online too. But I expect they will start of doing as much as they can online, then just small groups where they have to, like my son's uni plans to do.

Hicky

very warm for you too there I see. I think the humidity is making it worse with the storms around.

Which part of Wales has your son gone to ? The North I am guessing as the South is a long drive.

Did you know they are doing IACGMOOH from a 200 year old haunted castle in Wales?  They think it is that one in Abergele, you would of probably noticed it on the left hand side of the main A55 road when you drove up the coast. Gosh it will be freezing there in December! Will make a change as  I think the show was getting a bit stale coming from Oz.

https://www.walesonline.co.uk/...a-celebrity-18742453

That's good you have a good crop of potatoes. What are you having with them? MrM still has a crop to harvest.

Hope your probe helps give you the perfect loaf.

Didn't take the dog far for her walk,as it was so humid and she gets tired.

Read my book for awhile on the swingchair. Did some washing. Did 9 mins on the rowing machine, that really made me feel hot.

Had a veggie burger with seasame rolls and MrM's tomatoes for tea, followed by strawberries and cream.

Great to be in contact now on whatsap. I too only use it when at home and have wifi.

Have a good evening both xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

Not sure which part of the coast my lad went to, there is a lot of beaches down the north west of Wales, Wales is just over the river from me, the river Dee, the other side of me is the Mersey, to go round the river is probably 25 miles.

It will be great if they have IAC from a Welsh castle, brill, i don't care if its cold, i wont be there.

I still have 2 crops to dig, one is in a tub, no idea how that will turn out i just put sprouted spuds in, covered them over 2 layers so no idea if that worked, the other patch was a bag of big red skinned spuds that started sprouting in the garage, the spuds were so big i cuth them up and let the cut sides heal.

My second fish order comes tomorrow, only salt cod and monkfish misshapes and smoked peppered mackerel.

Its good to have contact, you can text on the number, yiu don't need Wifi for that, but pictures etc only work on whatsapp, anything you want to see just say.

Stay safe, keep smiling and sleep tight.

Hicky

Good Evening Everyone.

Hope you slept last night Baz, i found it challenging, so hot.

27c today, with sunny intervals and thunder storms expectdabout now, we had a gentle breeze.

I had 2 rounds of my wholewheat bread as toast with Irish butter on for brekkie, delish.

I transplanted my 6 baby trees that i kep alive with their feet in water, Mrs H was repotting some of her many flowers so i got the left over compost, having found some plant pots i used them for the 6 trees.

My fish delivery came, its only 3 pieces of salted cod and 3 packs of Monkfish cutoffs and 4 big smoked peppered Mackerel.

Made a loaf, 20% wholewheat to test the internal temperature, using my probes i baked the bread till 190F but i only had the oven at 200c and it needed to be at 210c for the test, i think, anyway when i took the bread out it wasn't cooked even i could tell that so i put it back, when the time ran out the temperature was 200F, it was ok then, Mrs H even asked for 2 slices to have as sandwiches, wow knock me down with a feather.

Its 27.5c on my desk, good heavens.

For tea made a big pan of hot & sour soup, love that stuff, had one portion, it might make 3 or 4.

Have a good evening, find something to watch, just watching Antiques road trip, just watched money for nothing, they are so clever with what they make.

Sleep tight all.

hope you had a good day and hope you are feeling well.

Hicky

wonder how your sprouted spuds turn out? It will be good if you get some decent ones.

MrM bought seed potatoes for his online.

Irish butter on toast, so tasty and a good start to the day.

Yes its great to have contact now. I will sort some more photos out tomorrow. If you have any old photos, I'd love to see those. actually any photos will do, as I like looking at photos. I have a few cooking ones to send you.

That fish should last you awhile.

I see both you and MrsH have been busy outisde today.

You ended up doing well with that bread if MrsH asked for 2 slices.

Very hot, humid and sticky here today. Took doggie a walk but late in the day and only when there was shade. She didn't walk far. Daughter had bought a delivery from Iceland so we could have cold food today...so family had sausage rolls, ham rolls, Scotch eggs, chicken skewers, and I had sweet potato fillafells with salad and seeded rolls. Strawberries all gone, so had one of these....

  yum, yum..they are delicious.

Watched the dog programme, now watching A and E, but think it is a repeat. So hard to find stuff to watch lately.

Have a good evening both xxx

Evening Mollie.

I usually just buy 1 bag of seed poatoes, that was the Vivaldi, the rest i planted because they just want to grow.

Yes, i just fancied some nice toast, a bit unusual for me.

I have tons of photos, it depends what you want to see.

Its 26.8c on my desk, i have a piece of saltfish in a bowl of water to get the salt out, will have for brekkie.

I was very surprised when Mrs H asked me to cut her 2 slices for sandwiches.

I'm doing a test with the bananas, i read that if they are wrapped in a plastic bag sealed it delays or stops them going black so i wrapped them all in clingfilm 1 at a time, should have left one out really, well none gone black yet, mind you i oonly got them Thursday morning.

I've just had my last Mango smoothie lolly, will have to get more they are fantastic.

I love ice cream lollies, keep safe and sleep tight.

Glad you've had a good day, busy as well, so many flowers, your place will smell lovely.

Its been 25c today with sunny intervals and a gentle breeze, thunder expected soon.

I'm with you, i don't care where they film IAC either, just get it on the TV.

I have handed my shopping list over to Mrs H for the morning, added the Mango smoothie lollies as well, they are so moreish.

Had a salt cod, smoked bacon, poached egg brekkie with toast, for tea had a portion of the hot n sour soup, got 2 pieces of KFC to have now, Mrs H brough the meal home after she had ran a neighbour to a garage.

Keep safe, keep smiling and sleep well.

Hicky

Baz, the Birthday girl

So pleased to hear you had a lovely day and have been spoiled for your special day with all those flowers.

Hope you enjoyed your phone call with the Darnies. I am sure your hair looks a lot better than you think it does. (especially now you have the Go-Blonder)   How long did you chat for? I have never used one of those video group messages.

Did you treat yourself anything nice to eat?

That's good we have a few new shows being filmed to look forward to, so fed up of watching stuff and realising its a repeat.

I watched Bobby Moore's story tonight, but from his wife Tina's viewpoint, I enjoyed it, on again next week.

Hicky

those Mango ice lollies sound nice and just what you need in this very hot weather. I had another Minion after my tea tonight.

That's nice MrsH bought you some KFC home, I am sure you enjoyed that.

You will have to let us now how the banana wrapping goes.

Do you have any photos of when you were abroad with the forces? That would be interesting? Or an old wedding photo?

It was 32c in this area today....  far too hot for me and the pets! It was so humid too.

Too hot  to sit outside, so me and MrM sat in the garage.

Goodnight both xxx

Evening Mollie.

The bananas i put in the fridge in clingfilm last thursday morning, after a week they are still the same as i put them in, i have 2 left, none went black.

I have a picture of me in the Military on card but i can take a picture, that might work from 1961 ish.

In my manshed it was 35c, i went in to cool off till i looked at the thermometers, i have 3 in there.

Had another game of chess with my lad, i was black and won again, 6 on the trot.

Stay safe, keep cool and sleep well.

Hope you ok Baz, this heat makes it impossible to sleep, had to get up in the night to close ,y browser windows and then found windows wanted to update so ost more sleep, i have about 22 Tabs on my browser windows and that takes a lot of memory etc so the fan is working overtime, after i closed the browsers it was ok.

Pretty darm warm today, 28c in the shade, 35c in the summerhouse, 26.9c on the desk, sunny most of the day but a gentle breeze.

Made a rather nice loaf, didn't do much outside far too hot, thawed a pack of crab claw meat only to find out i'd thawed brown crab meat.

Had sausages and frsh tomato done in the oven for brekkie, for tea made crab sandwiches with the new bread.

I have some nice corn cobs from what i can see, thought i was getting none.

Got my shopping and meds this morning, ni shrimps again though, the bananas worked fine wrapped in clingfilm, have done the same this week, had one from last Thursday, still not black.

Playing chess again, won that one yesterday.

Stay safe, keep cool and sleep is possible.

Baz

hope you have had a good day and enjoyed admiring all your lovely flowers you had for your birthday.

Hicky

thats interesting that your bananas did not go brown, so the theory proved correct.

Gosh 6 wins on the trot...you son will get fed up of playing with you.

Not surprised your manshed reached that temperature yesterday, it was incredibly hot all day. I was glad to see a bit of cloud today, so it has been cooler.

Shame you thawed the wrong crab meat. I am sure you enjoyed it on your home made bread though.

MrM also made a loaf with the breadmaker. The loaves are quite small from it, so we used nearly all of it between us just for tea. I had salad on mine and hot camabert cheese . Had a salted caramel ice cream cone after.

Doggie got short walk, cooler but still hot and humid, but at least its an improvement on yesterdays 32C here!

Not much on tv so watched the Castle people, now watching a recording of Antiques Roadsow.

Have a good evening both xxx

Evening Mollie.

Yes, very surprised abou the bananas but them going black doesn't effect the taste, but they look better and its no problem wrapping them each in clingfilm.

I beat him at chess today as well, not sure if thats 6 or 7 on the run, he's not concentrating and making too many bad moves.

I enjoyed the crab but the mixture i had made to go with white meat didn't work with cbrown meat because of the texture so it was like trying to hep tomato sauce on a sandwich, impossible, am thawing the claw meat now, and another tub of Jellied Eels.

Had one of the Pineapple lollies i made, not impressed, will have to bring some fruit in from the garage to make smoothies and lollies.

Have you tried using the breadmaker just to mix and knead then take out to rise, use olive oil on the worktop to mess with the dough, when oiled put in a big bowl to rise, then knock down and shaoe then put in a loaf tin, bake at 200c for 30 minutes, that for a 2LB loaf which is 500g flour.

Glad Doggie got a short walk, this weather you have to wait till things cool a bit.

I've watched the Antiques road show, anything really, countdown, tipping point, red dwarf,

Stay safe, keep cool, sleep tight.

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky  Thank you for the lovely birthday greetings I was spoilt rotten by the forummers .....and some fantastic  gifts .....one of which was a Himalayan salt lamp ....which I had always wanted ....and some beautiful bird boxes .....and the blue tits are already checking them out Weather is a bit less clammy today ....although I still had a disturbed night ! Still , it’s looking much cooler for the next few days . I’ve changed the bedding today , washed , ironed , and a friend popped  around for half an hour , so we sat in the garden and chatted I also received a yummy chocolate birthday cake from a crazy , yellow feathered forum person....so my tea is sorted   Hope you are all having a good Friday , whatever you are doing

Mollie, can I ask which Breadmaker you have ? We used to have one , but it was huge , so I got rid of it after my husband died . However , I’m thinking of getting another one , but smaller , so..... I hope it’s cooler down there now .....have you had any thunderstorms?Hicky , I know brown crab meat is tasty , but I prefer the white meat  I’ve ordered some king prawns with my shopping this week .....yummy

Baz

Evening Baz.

Glad you Birthday was such a treat, some lovely wishes and presents, ooh a chocy covered Birthday cake.

You will have a garden full of birds soon, even more than you have now.

Never heard of a Himalayan salt lamp.

I have a breadmaker sitting in the garage, it's much easier to use the little mixing machine i bought as it makes dough anyway, also i didn't like the holes it made in the bottom with the paddles.

23c here today, sunny intervals with no wind.

Had 3 eggs on toast for brekkie, for tea had Greek Souvlaki with some new baby spuds from the garden.

Midday i had some crab on toast, wow, so yummy.

Watched F1 today as it was on 2 programs, the same tomorrow so happy with that.

Playing chess with my lad on the web, i have won the last 7 games.

Have a good evening, stay safe and sleep well.

Baz

how lovely you got spoiled so nicely on your birthday.

I have heard of the Himalyan salt lamps but can't remember what they do? Looks like the little birds got lucky too with one of  your birthday gifts.

It was nice for you too to get a friend visit, and and its always great to receive Birthday cake. Enjoy.

Our bread maker is years old but I will ask OH if he has a booklet saying which model it is.

I too miss Gogglebox on Fridays. Hopefully they will be back after their summer break.

No storms here at all, just a bit of lightening in the distance.

And thankfully nice and cool here, but still a bit humid.

Hicky

Shame you are not impressed with the pineapply lollies, at least you can enjoy your mango ones though.

Thanks for the bread making hints, I will ask MrM if he can just use the breadmaker to kneed it. I too don't find the holes in the bottom of the bread annoying.

7 chess winnings and going I see.

That's good you have F1 to watch.

doggie got her walk again, it was drizzling a little but not much and still warm.

Had oven chips and pizza for tea.

Watched Vera tonight.

Have a good evening both xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

Had another game of chess today, won, thats 8 on the trot.

The lolly maker moulds are too small, a waste of time, thats 2 sets no good.

The last breadmaker i got had 2 paddles, it was better but more trouble than it was worth.

Easier without it.

I wanted to get the spuds up from the tub but it's too hot to sit out in the sun, foecast says rain for 2 weeks from tomorrow.

Will watch more chess games, some vids show what not to do.

Yes, more F1 tomorrow, Practice 3 and qualifying.

Stay safe and sleep well.

Hicky

Evening All.

23c tody sun all day and a gentle breeze.

Had sausage, hash browns, mushrooms, tomatoes and beans with a round of toast for brekkie.

Had a vid call from Oz and the Iceland delivery came at 1pm with some goodies.

Tried the new electric can opener last night, Mrs H couldn't get the one she wanted from Amazon as it was currently unavailable but she found one on Ebay and bought that one, it was sent from the USA, very expensive, the total cost was about $80 US, it came with a US plug but not thinking i put an adapter on to try it, it seemed fine when i tested it, i assumed it was a 100-240v model for use in most countries, i couldn't see any voltage info in the book or on the box, didn't know the info was on the base, i couldn't read it because it was imbossed in the black plastis and i couldn't read it, anyway i wanted to test it with a tin so i wanted to ope a small tin of red salmon, it opened the tin but was smoking, wow, so i turned it off quick, it was a 120volt, they had sent us a 120volt can opener to the UK.

Had a pot of jellied eels at 2pm for tea had some of the Chinese style pork ribs and a pot noodle, i have now got so much food, wow.

Watched the Fi practice and qualifying, Lewis got P1.

Going to have to pull the spring onions and chop and freeze or they will die off, shame to waste them.

Stay safe, enjoy your evening and keep smiling and sleep well.

Baz

hope you had a good Saturday and are getting enjoyment from your nice birthday gifts.

Hicky

It starting to look like you are getting impossible to beat at chess now.

Rainy here today on and off and no sun, and as you say, looks like we have some rain to come too.

Sounds like you had a good cooked brekkie there. And how nice to get an Oz call after too.

Gosh that tin opener sounds a bit dangerous. Are you able to return it now?

Hope the weather is ok tomorrow for you to get up the spring onions and potatoes.

Were you pleased with Iceland? We like their deliveries especially as they are free too.

Didn't do much today, managed to take dog a walk inbetween the showers.

Morrisons shopping came, so cleaned it and put it away with OH's help.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

I have had to turn my watering system back on as i can't trust the forecasts.

Its unlikely i can return the can opener now as noone will take responsibility for it.

It seems that Coisinart have a web site in USA and a different one here in the UK.

When i search for the can opener in the UK site it says not found but the US site has a few and also different ones.

I am going to try and contact the company that sold it to us to let them know the unit can't work in the UK.

I have written to the US Cuisinart company to explain the situation.

The Iceland delivery is fine, Mrd H just doesn't trust other companies that Sainsburys.

Won another game of chess tonight, have lost count now.

I was hoping to get more spuds up tomorrow and sort the spring onions, there are som Corn on the cob ready as well and potatoes, but if it rains i doubt if i will do any of it, have the F1 race and a belly pork to cook.

Sleep tight.

Hicky

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky  Wet and cool here today ....a bit like my mood  I had a disturbed night , so not really done a lot today . ...just washed and changed duvet cover , cleaned kitchen , anti bac shopping delivery , and fed birds Hope you are all having a good Sunday though

Mollie, I ordered a breadmaker today It’s just a compact 1lb loaf maker from Lakeland ....I’ll let you know how it goes once it gets here How are things down your way ?The weather goes from the sublime to the ridiculous I will be so glad when we can stop cleaning the darn shopping .....it’s a right chore !Hicky , I have Sainsburys too ....although once M&S start delivering on September 1 I’ll definitely give it a whorlBummer about your cam opener I’m guessing no gardening for you today .

Nothing much on tv tonight ....but I am sure I will find something to watch Hope you both have a good evening , whatever you are doing ....stay safe

Baz

Evening Baz.

It's coolish here but sleeping still not easy, 23c today with cloud, rain, and thunder soon.

Sorry about your disturbed sleep, was it the heat/humidity.

I was trying to plan my next wash day but the only day was thursday, that was supposed to be dry but the forecast changed and now the next dry one is next saturday, i might have to hang it in the bathroom on the pull up/down clothes rails, at least i can put the extraction on.

M&S are very good, dearer than most supermarkets i think, but quality good.

I had a wander around the garden, will have to get the gardener to get on top of the weeding in parts of the slate floor, the roots have nowhere to go but they just grow in the slate gaps, also growth trying to get through the fences from outside, its a wild area.

I have emailed the company who made the can opener in the US and have messaged the company who sold us the can opener through Ebay, don't think much will be done but i was determined to let them know what happened as it might save someone else as it's still for sale exactly the same now.

Made a belly pork roast dinner with new spuds from the garden and babbage with gravy, rather nice, Mrs H enjoyed anyway.

Stay safe, stay happy and sleep well.

Hicky
