Hi both.
Not too bad day here. Threatened rain at times but never delivered.

Hicky. Your weather report sounds it could be from a British Summer, not from Oz.
Sounds like a great apartment complex you are at.
That's great that your cold disappeared. Probably with the change in temperature.

I thought your son had arranged for you to travel Business class already?
Pity the seats were so uncomfortable.
Yes, probably best to avail yourself of the wheelchair service if it's available. Specially if you get priority for boarding.

Mollie. Yes, we think we have too many adverts in the UK, but it's nothing compared to the States and other places.

That's interesting that you might be an invigilator at school exams. I seem to remember you mentioning that previously?

I watched Police Interceptors then 24Hrs in Police Custody.

emptybox

Hi Mollie.

warm here at 23c sunny intervals not much wind.

We went out this afternoon by train for a bit, had a coffee and burger.

We are thinking of dumping the emirates return flights and buying new ones from Cathy Pacific home from Cairns to Manchester, at least they have Premium Economy.

Getting on better with the baby, she is slowly getting around to allowing me into her life, she enjoyed the train journey.

That will be a handy part time job for you all.

Hicky

Emptybox

what have you been up to today? Anyone else chasing you to do their grass yet?

Hicky

Sounds nice and warm there for you. Good job heading off to the sun got rid of that cold. How sweet the baby enjoyed her journey on the train.

I assume your lad had just upgraded you to business for the outward Manchester to Dubai section? Not good if Emerates economy seats are so uncomfy, you can't sit for long in them as they hurt your back. So as it is such a long journey, a good idea to search for alternatives. My aunt goes to Sydney soon, and she is doing the stright through one from Heathrow. Hope you can sort something out with Cathay.

There has been a lot of form filling in for us all for this job, but working with children, it is to be expected. The council even had to pay for a DBS check for us, which took some time to come through.

Did around 5 washloads today, as it was drier than it has been. Not completely dry though as it started to drizzle, so will have to hang it round the house to dry off.

Met son in his lunch break and I had a latte from Gregs, he had his fave pepperoni pizza. I bought a vegan sausage roll for my tea to have with veg. They are very popular from Gregs.

Watching Bake Off, very funny the contestants are tonight.

Hope you have a lovely day with your family today HIcky.

Goodnight Emptybox. What you watching on tv tonight?

xxx

M

Hi both.
Mixed day. Mostly cloudy with drizzle at lunchtime, but then it brightened up a bit this afternoon. Was quite cold, but a bit milder this evening.

Been having some symptoms the last couple of nights. Probably a combination of stress to do with my Uncles death etc, and getting back to doing some work.

Got a couple of places cut for the first time today. The grass was very soggy though. Quite heavy going. But I've got to get some places done before I have to take a few days off for the funeral. Unfortunately it's come just at the wrong time. Just as I'm starting to have to get started mowing.
(not that there's ever a right time for a funeral )

Hicky. That was nice, going out for a coffee and a burger.
Yes, you want to make sure you have more comfortable seats for the long journey home.
From the way you are describing it, sounds like the baby bawled her head off at first sight of you? Glad you are getting on better now.

Mollie. Yes, I expect there's a lot of red tape involved in a school invigilator role.
That's good that you mostly got your washing dry.
That was nice meeting your son in his lunch break.
Saw a bit of Bake Off. Nice seeing Sandy doing well at the baking, and getting a hand shake from Paul.

Saw an unusual creature behind my house today. Think it was an Otter or a Mink? Looked a bit like a Stoat, but much bigger and dark brown in colour. Haven't seen one here before, but we do have a river down the bank behind the house, so it must have come from there.

Evening Both.

23c here today, been in bed all day, got a bit damp the other day with the drizzle and if i get wet i get a cold, sore throat etc, had some lozenges.

Fly to Cairns Saturday, not going home Emirates or Cathy Pacific, going Singapore Airlines Premium Economy.

I'll tell you nearer the time which flight etc.

Just been out for a meal, didn't feel like it much though.

Hicky

Oh dear Hicky. Sorry to hear you've caught a cold over there.
Hope you shake it off quick so it doesn't spoil your trip.
Perhaps the weather will be drier in Cairns, and not so 'British' like.

Not bad day here. Up to 12c and some sunshine. A bit windier than I'd have liked though.
Got another two places started for the season.

emptybox

Emptybox

Well done getting  a couple of places cut and another 2 places started. That is the trouble being the start of the season, it is hard work for you because of soggy ground.

sorry to hear you have been getting symptoms.  I am not surprised, it is not only upsetting for you to lose your uncle, but now you have the stress of getting to and attending the funeral . Also as you say, it is just the start of back to work time for you too. All you can do is to try and take it easy doing relexing things you like to take your mind of things. I hope the symptoms ease.

That is interesting that you think you saw an otter or a mink. I wonder if it will come back again?

I agree, it was nice to see Sandy do so well on Bake Off.

Hicky

oh dear that is not nice at all that you got a cold after you got so damp, and have had to spend the day in bed.   Not like you at all to not enjoy a meal out. Hope you feel a bit better today.

Who are you flying with to Cairns? I think it is still the wet season there now, isn't it? But at least it is going to be very warm, so hopefully that will help you shed that cold. It looks lovely where you will be staying up there.

Glad you have sorted Singapore Airlines Premium Economy for your long flight home. When we lived over there, we found Singapore the best airlines and the airhostesses absolutely charming and always around attending to us. In addition to the extra leg room, I see you can choose and reserved you main meal before you go, and select your choice of wine or champagne to go with it. Sounds like even though you have not had to fork out for business class, this should be fine for you.

Weather been ok here today, cloudy and a bit drizzly now and again, but not bad.

Went to Cardiff with daughter on the train to do a bit of shopping. Got the lads some new shirts for work, and OH a couple of shirts as it is his birthday on Friday.

Watching GP show then the new drama on itv at 9.

Goodnight Emptybox xxx

Hope you have a better day today Hicky. xxx

M

Emptybox

I see Hicky didn't call in today, so hope it is because he is busy with the family, rather than unwell.

Did you get out to do any work today? According to the forecast, looks like we are due for a calmer weather period for awhile, hope so.

How are your symptoms? Hope they have eased.

I think it is today your brother is due back from Thailand, isn't it? So you should be able to get clarifcation of the funeral arrangements at last.

Not a bad day day today, drizzly most of the morning, but drier in the afternoon and at least the winds have gone now.

I went swimming as I know I should really to help the arthritis. Then after I met son and daughter at the snack pasta shop and I had a halloumi wrap, very nice.

Not much on tv, but watched Fraud on itv.

Disgusting how light they get away with frauding all these innocent people of thousands and thousands. All got suspended sentences apart from one!

Goodnight xxx

M

Hi Mollie.
Yes, I hope Hicky's cold hasn't got worse.

Not bad today. Quite warm, but colder in the wind. Some sunshine and up to 12c.
Got another couple of places done. TBH neither of them was desperate to be done, but I want to get plenty done this week to avoid everybody wanting it done at once when I get back.

Yes my Brother is back home now (according to SiL's Facebook), so I'll likely get a call in the next couple of days about the arrangements. I'm going to drive across to him and leave my van there I think.

Unfortunately had quite bad symptoms today. Feeling uncomfortable and an urgency to pee. Considered coming home at lunchtime, but I persevered and it eased off during the afternoon.
Of course I forgot to take extra liquid with me, and i forgot to take Ibuprofen with me. Won't make those mistakes tomorrow.
Fairly sure it's to do with getting hot and sweaty working, then when I take my jersey off the chilly wind makes me cold again.
I quite often get symptoms at this time of year, but usually once I get back into the swing of working again they're not nearly as bad.
Probably my over-thinking things to do with this funeral is playing a part as well.
I guess if i felt really bad on the day I was due to travel I might have to call it off. I guess my Brother would just have to represent us both.

Hope your swim did you good. Nice to meet up with your son and daughter after.
Yes I watched that programme on fraud as well. As you say the sentencing for that kind of crime is inadequate. And also the banks should do far more to stop it happening in the first place.

Evening Both.

Haven't been able to get on to the site, could get on any other but not here until now.

25c today, 18 min, light rain, haven't seen any, feeling a lot better today, it is Friday 12.09 flying to Cairns tomorrow, not sure by what.

Had loads of King crab legs for tea last night and lovely salt fish for brekkie today.

Mollie. Very pleased to be going with Singapore Airlines, really nice, will get assistance were needed.

We couldn't get any money back from Emirates, we even offered them ÂĢ3,000 to upgrade, but no, so will dump the tickets and had to buy new ones from Singapore, not a good advert for Emirates.

I have turned down a meal out tonight as well, a bbq place, but i eat so little these days it's just a waste, the meal the other night cost $330 AUD and i only had a mouthful of fillet steak.

Emptybox, I'm not back to normal yet but better than i was, eating a bit more.

Those symptoms returning is a bit worrying, hope they keep away when you need them to.

Hicky

Emptybox

Sorry you are getting symptoms again. Oh dear at forgetting your ibuprfen and extra liquid. Sounds like the symptoms are to be expected as you normally get them this time of year, plus being upset over losing your uncle, and worry about attending the funeral. Don't feel bad if you don't feel up to going, as you say, your brother can represent you both, especially as he doesn't have the same health probems and is used to driving distances. If you go when you are unwell, it will be difficult for you both and might make you feel worse. Perhaps warn your brother, you are not feeling right and just see how you go?

But a good idea to get done what you can now work wise, as you don't want to start the season by getting behind. I guess, if you go, it makes sense to drive to your brother as he is not too far to drive to for you, is it? Did he enjoy Thailand?

I agree the banks are part to blame for this fraud, but they wont' spend updating their systems to make them safer.

Looking forward to watching Gogglebox in a mo, as the rest of the tv has been bad, nearly all sport on tonight!

Hicky

hope you are feeling better today and had a good flight to Cairns.

Should be pretty hot up there now,so hopefully the showers in such warmth won't bother you.

How nice you got to look after the baby giving your lad chance to go to the gym.

Hopefully you have got your appetite back, so enjoyed your steak pie.

That will be handy for you to get around having a scooter.

OH's nephew was working in Cardiff , so he called in today, He was going to auction so took me and my eldest son with him too. Lucky the auction have a cafe there now, so I could sit in there and rest the achy limbs, whilst he took his time browsing. I had apple crumble and custard, very nice.
When we got home, OH had got back from work, so nephew sang Happy Birthday with us, when we blew out OH's candles on the cake daughter made for  OH's birthday today. After nephew left, we went for pub meal in buy one get one free pub. I had vegan burger with mash and sweet chilli coleslaw, very nice.

Googglebox time.

Goodnight Emptybox. Take care, drink plenty. xxx

Goodmorning HIcky. Look forward to hearing about Cairns. xx

M

Hi both.
Not nearly as nice today. Cold and windy and drizzly. Up to 8c.
Still I went out and did another few jobs, just to get them done.
Not sure if I'll work tomorrow? Will depend on the weather.

No symptoms today. That's the thing, I can't predict from one day to the next how I'll feel. You can have a bad day followed by a good day.
I did remember to take extra liquid with me today, but didn't really need it, as it was too cold to work up a sweat.
Hopefully the symptoms will hold off to allow me to go down.
heard from my Brother. They enjoyed Thailand, but found it too hot. 35c by day and 25c by night.
SiL has to go back to work, so it'll just be me and my Brother going down.

Hicky. Glad you are feeling a bit better now. Pity you can't get your money back on the original flights.
That's great that you are able to indulge your liking for seafood while you are there.
Pity you didn't feel like going out for another meal tonight though.
A mobility scooter sounds a good idea, if you have to walk any distance.

Mollie.  Just less than 2 hour drive to my Brother's, but it's very familiar roads, and no busy motorways or complicated roundabouts etc. That's what I can't stand when I drive down South myself. But no doubt I'll have to do it again sometime.

That was good you got to go to the auction with OH's Nephew, and could rest in the cafe.
Sounds like you made a big fuss of your OH on his Birthday.

Not much on telly tonight. Watched a prog on BBC2 about Australia's wildlife, and thought of Hicky.

emptybox

Evening Both,

28c today, for the future it's 30+, so humid with all the rain they have had.

Had a good journey from Sydney to Cairns, also get a change of time zone, now only 10 hours ahead.

A nice ride by those that picked us up, apartment on 2 floors, 3 & 4, with about 6 balconies all round, very posh, 4 bedroom, 2 shower rooms, big lounge and kitchen, only one problem, no lifts, bit of a problem, spent the afternoon around one of the 4 pools, just been out for a meal, connected to the complex$304 AUD.

Baby good as gold,

Here's a few pictures taken as soon as we arrived, from a few of the balconies,  showing 3 of the 4 pools, fantastic really.

View from balcony

Another view, pool

more pools

Hicky

Great pics Hicky.
Glad you are now getting more Australian weather, rather than the 'British' weather you were getting before.
I see Cairns is up near the top of Australia, so nearer the equator.
Looks like a lovely apartment, though 6 balconies seems a touch excessive?

Not too bad day here, sunny and quite calm.
Went out to do one job, but managed to break the pull cord on my strimmer, so had to fix that when I came back.

I thought I was going to stay with my Aunt while at the funeral, but found out that I'm going to be staying with one of my cousins for the first night at least, as my Uncle is going to be laid out in the house the night before his burial, and my Aunt doesn't want anyone else there. Understandable I suppose.
Doesn't make much difference to me really, except I'll be on a sofa bed somewhere rather than my own bedroom.

Hi both xx

Hicky

thanks for the great piccies.

Looks like a lovely place and so nice for you to relax in, especially with temperatures like that. Glad you had a good journey up there, and the baby was so good. Sounds like she is a very contented little thing.

Pity there is no lift and you are not on the ground floor there. Just make sure you take your time tackling the stairs then! Sounds like a huge place with lots of nice views with all those balconies though.

Emptybox

so glad to hear your symptoms have gone. Fingers crossed it stays like that. Hope the sofa bed won't be too uncomfy for you, but at least it should only be 1 night.

How irritating you broke the pull cord after only 1 job, but good job you managed to fix it.

Yuck , those temperatures in Thailand sound awful! Not for me at all. But I guess your brother and SILS must like it as they keep going back there.

Went out to Weatherspoon for brekkie again, then costco for a bit of shopping after.

Watched the Voice, but not really much else of interest.

Nice and warm today with a bit of sun, so OH and I got to sit out in the garden too. He did a bit of painting and I got to read some of my book. HOpe the good weather spell contiunues.

Goodnight Emptybox  xxx

Good morning HIcky. hope you have a good day in the warmth of Cairns.  xxx

M

Hi Mollie.

That's nice that you and OH got to sit out in the sun today.

And also another Wetherspoons brekkie.

Don't think my Brother was a fan of the heat in Thailand, although they did enjoy the holiday. It was their first time in Thailand. It's Egypt they've been to a lot.

Watched a bit of The Voice, but they seemed to get rid of all the good female singers.

emptybox

Evening Both.

5.40 pm Sunday here in sweltering Cairns.

Will be moving Rooms Wednesday to the ground floor which is better, the rooms aren't but saves me going up 2 floors and them carrying baby up 3 floors.

Had brekkie in the beach restaurant, as the picture will show, then we stayed by the poolside in the rock pool, it has a spar there as well, nice.

The temperature will be staying at 30+ while we are here, but at night it is only about 23c.

It is hotter than when i had a holiday in Turkey, 30c in the shade is not what i am used to.

On the poolside there is a call intercom to order drinks and food to be delivered to the pool, handy, i am slowly eating better, had some lovely salt roast ribs last night and the chips here are unbelievable.

View from Breakfast Table

View from brekkie table to beach.

First course of brekkie.
Part of the first course of brekkie.
Rock Pool
A rock pool, well designed, fantastic really.

The ladies taking a dip in the warmed water by a waterfall.

We ordered all the food today for home cooking, we ordered everything for a slap up curry meal for 3 of us,o/h doesn't eat food like that, we ordered the Rendang Paste which is fantastic, just one item not available, guess, the meat, ha ha, we ordered Flank as it was down to be ordered, we were going to make the meal tomorrow anyway, now it's a trip to the shops, that was from Coles.

------------------------

PS, if you right click on a picture and select 'Open image in new tab', then go to the next tab you get a big picture.

Think i showed you the place, if you click on Restaurant you can see where we eat on the beach, but also lots of places, and must be dozens of resorts here as well.

Hi Hicky.
Cold windy and drizzly here. Forgot to look at the temp, but was under 10c.
Not sure I envy your 30c in the shade though. A bit too hot for me.

That'll be handier for you, on the ground floor. Great pics.
And a poolside intercom is handy as well.
That brekkie menu looks great.

That's good you are eating better.
I suppose ordering food to make your own meal in the apartment works out cheaper than eating out.

Will try and post during the next few days, but will depend on where I am, and whether there is internet access.

I'll be thinking of you the next few days. Not an easy time for you.

Oh yes, sorry of course I remember now, it was Egypt you said your brother normally went to. Wonder why he went to Thailand this time? Just for a change perhaps? Wonder if he will go backto Egypt instead again next time? I think you said he liked going there for diving, was it?

Shame the weather was bad, hopefully it will improve.

It was a lovely day here today. Put the sundress on for a read on my swingchair again. And we had chips down the seafront for tea. Lots of people there enjoying the sunny weather.

Hicky

what lovely photos again.

Glad to hear you are getting your appetite back again. Good job too, as that brekkie looks delicous, and very healthy too. What a good menu it is.

The rock pool looks great for enjoying a swim in.

A good job you can move in  a few days to a ground floor apartment. It must be hard work for you climbing all those steps and for the family to take the baby and pram etc up 3 flights.

Looking forward to watching Race Round the World soon.

Goodnight Emptybox xxx

Good morning HIcky, hope you have a nice day today on your hols.  xxx

M

Hi Mollie.

At my brother's tonight. Had a nice Lasagne for supper.

Not bad drive over this afternoon, but cold and drizzly. Only 5c.

That's good that you had a nice sunny day and chips on the seafront.

Perhaps it'll be warmer for me when we come South tomorrow.

Yes my Brother likes the diving in Egypt, so will probably go back again.

They thought the diving in Thailand was OK, but apart from seeing a Whale Shark, nothing special.

emptybox

Good Morning Both.

Monday 07.56 here in Cairns, only 27c at the moment, 31 today though, thundery showers expected, no wind really.

https://www.bbc.com/weather/2172797

I can see the rock pool and waterfall as i type, the sun is blazing down, we just had hot dogs last night we made on the top floor kitchen, massive dining area/living area/kitchen with big on suit bedroom, my lad using it, i am on the 2nd floor which has 3 bedrooms and a shower room.

Slept fine, nice beds, probablt eating in for brekkie, depends on wht arrived, we ordered unsmoked bacon but they had none so sent smoked as a substitute, will be making a trip to the shops again today, need to pick up what didn't arrive with the order.

If my scoter arrives i will get a picture, should be able to get around more, as now they have to go without me if they are walking.

Mollie, Its not a pram, just a folding baby buggy, it is left on the ground floor, we forgot to pick it up at the airport and it was sent here for us.

I keep my watch on uk time, just deduct 2 hours and invert day to night for here.

Emptybox, Dont worry about posting, just hope your symptoms stay clear for you, safe journey.

After the fruit type brekkie starter you order whatever you want, i got an omelette with all in, far too much for me, such a waste i am, quality food here though, top.

I'll get some nice pics as well.

Hicky

glad to see your brother is looking after you with a nice supper. Hope your long journey has gone well and you are keeping well.

Hopefully you should find it warmer down south now, and at least it is a dry forecast. But supposed to be cold overnight. I guess that is to to be expected with clear skies overnight at this time of year.

Shame your brother was not so impressed with Thailand but that is interesting they saw a whale shark.

Hicky

what lovely photos, beautiful looking beaches. Your scooter looks ideal for you to get out and about with, and of course you certainly won't feel cold in it with those Cairns temeratures.

Sounds like your appetite has come back again now. Have you completely shook that cold off now?

You do have lots of space for all of you in that apartment.

Nice sunny day here today, so got a little sit in the garden and my washing dried well.

Went to aqua fit this morning. It does help my aches and pains if I make the effort to go. It was the zumba class which I prefer as it is quicker than the ordinary class.

Not much on tv tonight, with the football on again!

HOpe you sleep ok on the sofa bed Emptybox.

Hicky...glad you are finding your bed there so comfy.

Evening/Morning Mollie.

We got the hire car, a 8 seater so loads of room, very nice it was, after about 60k of just road and trees we stopped for an ice cream, standard 4 flavour tub it seems, all fruit grown on their own ground.
We then set off for Port 'talbot, it's a ferry crossing by winch, ok, then another 50k drive through rain forest to the Boardwalk into the rain forest, wow, needed my scooter as it was a 1.2k walk, on the way back we stopped at a closed cafe as baby was crying, so we walked onto the beach, as you will see, coconuts laying around as nobody lives anywhere, didn't see any houses for 60k.
Amazingly the trees are trying to grow, just lying on the ground.

have you got your appetite back now?

Aaawww Hicky, you poor thing. Sorry you have been up all night and need more antibiotics. Is it that cold stil bothering you? And is your arm ok? Let's hope the 5 days meds do the trick and knock this on the head now.

Good job you have a nice spacious suite to relax in. along with warm weather.  Wonder if you picked something up on the plane? Or maybe it was something you already had, that you haven't got rid of properly.

Emptybox

hope you will be on on your way back home soon. At least the weather has been kind for your travels and for the funeral. And hope your symptoms kept well away during this stressful time for you.

A beautul sunny day here again, reall warm in our garden, so I sunbathed, and read my book, as well as got plenty of washing dry. But what a shock when I popped out with neighbour's dog, as soon as the sun has gone down, it feels very cold!

An old friend who I hadn't seen for a few years was due to meet me for lunch in Cardiff, she lives in Weston super Mare, but had to cancel beause they cancelled her train and the next one was late, so it wasn't worth coming. We have rearranged for next week though. Trains site said there had been "an incident" near Exeter.

Goodnight Emptybox xxx

Good morning Hicky xxx

M

Hi both.

Back home now, but I'm exhausted so will only do a short post tonight.

Pity you are ill again Hicky. Hope the antibiotics help you. Did you have to pay for Dr's appointment in Australia? Lovely pics BTW.

Mollie. Pity your friend had to rearrange her meet up in Cardiff.

Bit of a nightmare trip down. I had a bad night at my Brother's with my symptoms, but they seemed better the next morning, so we set off, but within an hour I felt dreadful, and considered asking Bro to turn back, but didn't think that would be fair. But I felt nauseous and had a woozy head on and off all the way down. Worse than I've felt for years. Only good thing was I didn't have peeing symptoms.

Things did improve over the next few days, but I never felt particularly well. At least I knew it was due to my Prostate thing rather than a bug.

I'll post about the funeral tommorow, as I need an early night tonight.

emptybox

Evening Both.

A lot better today, just had egg on toast for brekkie indoors, for lunch had a poolside delivery of crispy fried baby Baramundy fish with chips.

We are getting addicted to the Vietnamese Roast salted pork ribs, they are to die for, i could live on them.

Had 3 of the anti-bios now so things looking up, it is a repeat as well.

It isn't a cold, it's an infection, probably.

Every room has it's own air con, crazy isn't it

Just going out, will finish when i get back.

----------------

Back again, went for a pretty long walk, on the scooter, fantastic, had some whitebait, lots of other stuff but didn't fancy it.

Could do with lights on the scooter at night to see where i am going.

Mollie. I don't know, could have arrived with the infection, but had been here a while before it took hold, as you say, could be from the plane of course.

Emptybox. The doctor was $75 AUD the Anti-biotics was about $15 AUD which i have had twice so far.

Sorry to hear you had symptoms while away, not nice at all for you.

sorry you felt so unwell when you had to do that long journey. I am not surprised as stress/upset does seem to affect your condition and I know you were upset about losing your uncle and stessed about the journey and the funeral. I bet you are glad to be home again now. Such a long journey for you.

Hope you feel more yourself now you can rest at home.

Hicky

glad to see the meds seem to be helping you feel better.

Can you claim the docs costs and meds back on the travel insurance?

Pity they didn't think to install lights on your scooter.

Another lovely day here today, even though it took awhile for the fog to clear.

OH is taking Monday off so we can go visit his relatives in North Wales, so we leave 1st thing tomorrow, and back Monday. So if I am not around, you know where I am.

Hi both.
Nice day here, mostly sunny and quite warm.
Took the day off from work. I'll start again next week.
Was very tired last night. Slept from about 10.30pm to 9.30am.

I did pot up my tomato plants though.

Not sure why I felt so bad at times when I was away? Probably had something to do with stress, but as my Brother was driving, that should have taken a lot of the stress off. Ah well. At least I'm feeling OK now.
Had to stop a few times for a pee on the way back up, but apart from that it was a much better journey that the one down, when I just didn't feel myself.

I stayed all three nights with my cousin. It was easier than moving to my Aunts after one night. I did have to sleep on the sofa bed in the same room as my Brother. haven't done that for nearly 40 years.
We went out for a pub meal for the first night. There was a meal after the funeral, so that took care of the second night, and we got an Indian takeaway for the last night.
On the Wednesday a bunch of us went for a walk along the beach with various dogs, and then had fish and chips on the seafront. (I thought of you Mollie. )
Only thing, if anything it was chillier in Norfolk than it had been the Borders, so we were wrapped up warm.

The funeral was very moving. It was just close family and a couple of old friends.
My Uncle was buried next to his veg patch, in a hole dug by his son and grandson (with a digger).
There was a funeral director as well, to make sure the lowering of the coffin went as it should.
My cousin read out a speech about my Uncle's life, then his two daughters and my Aunt read out poems. There were a lot of tears.

Hicky. I suppose that wasn't too bad a price to pay for your treatment in Oz. Hope it does the trick.
Not bad getting your lunch delivered to the poolside.
Yes, you'd do better with lights on your scooter.

Mollie. Hope you and OH enjoy your trip to North Wales.
Hope you found something you liked at the auctions?

Watched Midsommer Murders tonight.

Good Evening Both.

You have probably seen them on twitter.

A couple of pictures, just outside one of the double doors to outside a few yards away we have this notice about Crocodiles, then when i turn around i get the 2nd picture.
It really is an amazing place, been on the poolside but too hot in the sun, could do about 2 minutes, but at 30c in the shade it does nothing to cool me.
It seems they warn you about crocs and jelly fish, the coconuts in the trees of the resort may have been taken down, but once you step outside there are massive coconuts towering above you, rather scary to me if you wander under the trees.
A polite Warning, for the Germans it seems.. as well.

One of the many 3 storey complexes of suites, i think they can only build to a hight lower than the trees so no building can stick out.
From out at sea no buildings can be seen.

Mollie, i probably could claim the medicals stuff back but doubt if i will.

Enjoy your trip, see you when you get back.

Emptybox, I expected the anti-biotics to be dearer as well as seeing the doc.

We are out tomorrow to another rain forest, a skytrain up the mountain and a wire back over the treetops, interesting.

Hi Hicky.
Dull and rainy here today.

Don't think you've got much to fear from Crocodiles? More likely they should be frightened of you, if you get peckish.
I suppose it's safer for the resort to take all the coconuts down from the trees. Saves on the lawsuits.
Tomorrow sounds like it should be an interesting day for you.

Watched a bit of The Voice. Three girls and one boy in the final.

Evening Emptybox.

Yes, an interesting day, just been for a mothers day meal, wow, the crab claws where as big as my hand, had to send it back to get get in it.

30c very humid, no aircon on the train, just no glass in the windows.

Went to Kuranda on the scenic railway, quite an experience, a long way up the mountain, 12 tunnels dozens of river crossing bridges, great though, spent a couple of hours in the town, fantastic, then we got the Skyrail Rain forest cable car down, wow, mind you it was raining, got a few pictures though.
Part of the train going round a bend.

Looking down a ravine from the train, quite a drop.

A waterfall we saw when the train stopped for us to get a picture as we went up the mountain.

The start of the journey railway station, the train has 10 big carriages.

One of the original carriages from when the railway was built over 100 years ago.

The start of the journey back down the mountain, each cable car held 6 or 4 adults a baby and a wheel chair folded up.

Hi Hicky.
That sounds like a fantastic trip you went on (I saw the pics on Twitter).
Must have been great taking a train through the rain forrest.
A bit on the hot side though.

Very different here. Frost overnight and only 0c when I went for my paper this morning.
A bit warmer now, and we had some sunshine.
Just about to go to Lidl.

Hi Emptybox.

The heat is hard to bear, humidity mainly, with it raining all the time, and overnight.

30c everyday, it drops a few in the morning or overnight but hard to tell the difference.

Spent a couple of hours on the poolside, drinking cool Sprite i ordered on the intercom, also ordered the Vietnamese deep fried salt & pepper pork ribs, i will live on them i think.

We had a big meal out last night, wow, the bill was $478 AUD and we only had a few drinks, a shared whole mud crab seafood platter with some big prawns, oh, and you get a dish of rice, the crab was so big i could have got a ride, pity they don't make it easy to get in the shell.

Might be going fishing in a short while, have to dodge the Crocs though i suppose, will be fishing in a stream outside the doors, tide coming in.

Shopping just got delievered, a bit like home, but here it's from Coles.

Hicky
