Afternoon Mollie and Hicky Busy day here at chez Baz .....but last night I found a way of positioning my ankle so I was able to lay on my side like I used to......and I got 6 hours sleep Apart from that I’ve done some washing , fed the birds and anti bac and put away my shopping delivery ....a couple of things were missing ...and a couple of subs .....but the funniest thing was that instead of sending me 7 bananas , they sent me 7lb I’m now drowning in them cos they won’t take any returns  Hope everyone else is having a nice Sunday .

Mollie, yes, Gogglebox was funny Hope you enjoyed BGT ....I never really got into that .....or any of the other talent shows ....but I know lots of people are Hicky , did you enjoy GW ? I didn’t like the one with all those tulips in buckets ....looked a right mess to me . Do either of you watch the new Primates series that started last week ? I thought it was quite good. That bit about the Japanese doctor is intriguing ....

Anyway , I hope you are both staying safe ...and have a good evening

Baz

Evening Baz.

Had cheese on toast for brekkie.

Transplanted the Showmaster onions.

Put the feed in the 5 Hydroponic 20L buckets, filled the 10L from the water butt then added the food.

Put the 4 toamato plants into the 20L tubs with a cucumber plant, the masses of roots that grow when using the Hydroponic system is amazing, some are a foot long.

For tea had the last portion of the Hot & Sour soup, my that was hot.

Made smoked salmon salad sandwiches with Salad Cream, love it.

Thats a good idea to find the best position for your leg so you can sleep, very important.

Thats the problem with deliveries now, no returns and subs.

Did you think you can tell them how many Bananas you want, never heard of that, they go by weigh in KG so when you said 7 they thought you meant LB as you wouldn't ask for 7 Kilo.

I recorded GW as i don't watch flowers, i only like fruit or veg.

I don't watch Primates, never heard of it.

some paper is saying the report from the Japanese Nobel Prize winner is fake but i think he has been made to keep quiet like all the other doctors etc who spoke out.

What was said about it coming from a lab in Wuhan is certainly what i think anyway.

Keep safe, be careful and stay in.

Hicky

Baz

that is brilliant that you found a nice comfy position in bed, so got a good few hours sleep in.

That is a lot of bananas to get through on your own. Oh well better than none at all. Yes none of them take returns now incase we pass on disease. I can't get any bananas at all (or tomatoes) from Morrisons, the only place I can get a booking right now, so shame I can't share your bananas.

Yes Gogglebox was so funny, but BGT was not that interesting this week. As Hicky said the magician was good though.

I hadn't noticed that Primates show. But I do like monkeys. (if its about them).

HIcky

hope your seedlings do well. Sounds like your hydroponic system is coming along well.

Glad you enjoyed your hot and spicy soup. Me, OH and son had a cooked breakfast this morning for a change with yummy crispy fried bread. Took me awhile to perfect it though as I burnt the 1st piece.

Very interesting article. This is a terrible silent world wide killer and very scary, and it doesn't make sense how something can take off like this world wide and be so catching. . It looks like it doesn't disappear in the winter like the flu does.

There's a lot of fake stuff about this virus I reckon, and a lot of stretching of the truth with the figures from our government too. I won't even trust our authorities if they say we are safe to go out and mix, as we might not be!

Not much on tv tonight.

Evening Mollie.

It's amazing how ell the plants grow in water, hard to believe, some of the roots were 1 ft long, the roots on the tomato plants were so big i had to help it get through the 8cm hole in the 20L tub when i took them from the 10L tub, they could never have grown like that in a 9cm pot, Hydroponics is sure the future.

I love fried bread but keep forgetting to make it, haven;t had it for years, try and remember tomorrow.

Yes, something strange about this virus, if the Japanise man is saying he didn't write the letter he could be trying to protect himself as China would send people after him, or he could have had a phone call.

I believe the figures from the Government, they have no reason to lie, and they would gret cought out anyway.

They wont say you are safe to go out and mix, not this year anyway, and maybe not next.

You will need a face mask, rubber gloves and you should have a disposable smock type thing, but you will be at risk, they will never say there's no risk. you won't be able to mix, thats for sure, for a long time.

They had a party in the street here all afternoon, all eating Birthday cake, music playing, games, very little social distancing, utter madness.

Night Mollie, keep safe and sleep tight.

Hicky

Evening Everyone.

Hope Mollie & Baz are ok today, a beautiful day here.

Had bacon done on the bbq again on fresh-ish seeded bread.

Finished sowing the last of the seeds in the tubs outside, the last of the spring onions, transplanted loads of celery seedlings, thinned the greenhouse vine grape clusters out to 1 per shoot, took 27 bunches off, some had 4 growing but it's too much for the plant to support, i could leave on for wine but there just isn't enough growth to bother with that, i'll see if i can get some nice bunches.

For tea i cooked a small piece of beef, 2 baked spuds, cooked a small cauli and make some gravy.

Then made a couple of sausage rolls as i had half a pack of sausage meat, 200g and a roll of puff pastry, very nice too.

Going to get a lift off o/h tomorrow to put the clear plastic sheet over the canopy of the raised bed that has the Hydroponic buckets in.

Had to change the pipework on 2 of the 5 raised beds as i want to turn the water sprays off the bed with the Hydroponics on as the water is in the buckets all ready, with feed in, so want to keep the rain and wind off as well, i cut the pipe and inserted end plugs inn the 13mm plastic pipe, then added a 13mm tee piece and connected a hose to the top pipe on the right, i put a 13mm tap in it so it could be isolated, there was already a tap on the left section but of course it isolated the 2 beds which i needed to change, it's now sorted, i can isolate either, both or none.

Have a good evening, stay in and stay safe.

Hicky

Hi both xxx

Baz

hope your ankle and mobility are coming on well, and you have had a good day.

Hicky

gosh they must be crazy in your street. The contageon and death rate is still awful in this country, so why would you want to actively mix with others like that. I bet it won't be long until you hear of someone who has got it.

I think the government try and downplay the disease figures, eg not including care homes at the start, and their policy of sending the elderly with the virus from hospital into their care homes without telling care homes they had it, was appalling.

I read that the real death rate is closer to 400k than to 200k. And I think the test figures they give are deliberately misleading, as they only give capacity, not amount of people tested. A week or so ago they gave 40k capacity but only 22k tests were done on 13k on people. They can distort stats to suit themselves.

I worry that it looks like they are so desperate to get the money coming into the economy again, that they are going to make people go back to work in unsafe conditions before adequate precautions are taken to protect them in the workplace.

I agree you will need all those things to help keep safe, the government should of admitted a long time ago, that it was best for the public to wear a mask or face covering. Very few are even now because of this.

My family love home made sausage rolls. Bet you enjoyed them.

My family had chicken and veg pies for tea and I had veg with yorkshire puds my son made.

Nice day today, so sat on swing chair for awhile. We also took dog a walk, anyone we saw out walking kept a long distance away.

You have been busy with the pipework.

Watched Celeb SAS tonight, and can't remember what else, but whatever it was, it was boring. So I worked on my tesco shopping list as I managed to get a slot for Wednesday.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

It only takes one of these in the street to be effected and it will cause havoc.

They couldn't include the figures from care homes as they didn't have them, a doctor has to sign the death certificate, it's not like a hospital, they have got the homes to send through the data now.

They aren't trying to downplay anything, it's not in their interest to, it would go against what they want to get over.

I don't know if they sent elderly patients back to care homes with the virus, it wouldn't make sence, but care-homes have so many visitors constantly i don't wonder they all got the virus anyway.

The test figures are how many people took the test, they might not have returned the stuff, how many is available is a different figure.

The capacity is what is available, how many who get tested depends on how many come forward, the government don't control that the people do, and you only get tested if you have symptoms.

I noticed tonight for an hour, the BBC ran a news bar on the tv saying the the government failed the test limit of 100k a day for the second day, are they stupid, how many turn up to be tested isn't in the governments hand, its up to the people tom go and get tested, and of course over the weekend they can't be bothered to go.

They don't distort anything, it's all open and can be challenged so there would be no point.

The government aren't trying to get people back to work to get money, it's because you can only keep people locked up for so long so they will try and get the system moving again, where it is safe to do so, thats what the people want.

No-one will be going back to anywhere if it's unsafe, where did you get that idea from, the conditions have to comply with the same conditions we have been abiding by for weeks.

The science said wearing a mask did very little to help and no-one had the masks so you couldn't wear them, and if everyone tried to buy them then the NHS wouldn't be able to get the ones it needed, it is only any good if you have the virus, no-one knew if they had it or not and wearing a mask outside is pointless as the virus passes between people indoors as outside there is wind.

Whether people wear them or not will be up to the individual, they say it won't stop you getting the virus anyway as it's passed mainly by yur hands.

The sausage rolls were very nice, will be buying more sausage meat and puff pastry, so easy to make.

Chicken and veg pies sound nice, yes, had a busy day really, time flys when you have a lot to do.

At least you can get out for a walk, haven't seen much tv as one of my lads has been D, messaging me on twitter, i send him a picture of what i make then we discuss it, he loves spicy food and chili etc.

Stay safe, sleep tight.

Hicky

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky  Sunny , but quite chilly here today ....but birds fed ....turns out, according to the RSPB website they like bananas.....so only six and a half pounds to go!Apart from that I’ve changed the bed sheet , done two loads of washing , dusted and cleaned the kitchen . Now I’m slobbing  out in front of the tv Hope everyone else is having a good day .

Mollie , hope you and yours are well . Don’t forget it’s sewing tomorrow....and this week they are making garments for children  Hicky , I won’t be going out any time soon....even if I could walk properly And I certainly won’t be using public transport until they either get a vaccine , or can assure us that the virus has gone .....which won’t be for months and months imo . Until then once I can walk without the boot , I will be confining myself to walks around the block

Yorkshire Vet for me tonight .....but whatever you are watching have a good evening both ...and take care

Baz

Evening Baz.

Rather a nice day with 16c sun and a moderate breeze.

Did a lot in the garden today, cut 2 pieces off the end of the soaker hose, the one that was too long, i formed a circl with a section of the pipe and joint the ends with a 13mm to 4mm reducing tea piece then put it around the trees, did 2 for a trial, than connected to the 4mm pipe that is connected to the sprinklers for the tree now.

Got o/h to give me a hand to put the 4x3m heavy duty pvc sheet up over the raised bed with the Hydroponic buckets in as i don't want the rain to get in.

We got the energy bill, wow, the price of gas is only Β£3.926p a kWh and electric is Β£18,725p a kWh, shocking.

Am looking into changing my induction hob to a gas one, the yearly saving i reckon could be Β£1,200 and thats a lot of money, the oven is ok because it is controlled by a thermostat, unlike a hob which is on until you turn it off.

Had a Bury black pud for brekkie, boiled it like you do with a Haggis, love them as well, just had some toast with it, very tasty.

Do you watch them struggle trying to peel the bananas, only joking.

Yes, until we get a vaccine we are stuck really, unless we can get the correct attire to keep use safe.

My Brother is going to get in touch via a vid call from Spain in the morning, he has been there for many years, haven't spoken to him for years, he wanted us to go over for a holiday a few years ago but we were not able to at the time.

For tea i'm cooking a tray of Spare Pork Ribs, yummy.

stay safe, sleep tight, hope the bed is getting more comfy now.

Hicky

Hi both xx

Baz

that is great that birds like banana, so yours won't go to waste. I never knew that.

After doing all those jobs, you certainly deserve to slob out.

I am looking forward to children's week on Sewing Bee. I love children, and they are of course are so unpredictable. So should be interesting this week. I will try and make it to the forum page as I enjoyed it last week.

I agree, this virus is likely to be here for months and months, so not a lot we can do other than be patient. Though of course you wouldn't of been able to go out with your bad ankle anyway. Thank goodness for online and tv, that's all I can say.

HIcky

this is one of the artilces I read about care homes, really upset me...

https://www.manchestereveningn...-manchester-18170181

but there are lots more articles out there about the cruel government policy to send elderly back with the virus into care homes to die a very nasty death, whilst knowing they had it, but not telling the care home they had it. So cruel.

I also believe the  government should of moved quicker to cancel Cheltenham races, football matches, etc. But the economy came first so they didn't, and now tragically we have the worst death rates in EU. I believe our governent are wholly to blame for such huge figures. They couldn't even provide care workers with the PPE they needed.

My friends in New Zealand and Oz tells me they don't have anywhere near the problems we have here.

But not a lot we can do other than isolate. I guess we just have to weigh up ourselves when we feel it is safe enough for us to choose when we want to go out mixing. Sadly it is so unpredictable with a silent killer though.

My own first cousin is just out of hospital after being in intensive care for 2 weeks, on a ventilator, and had to have kidney dialasis, as it affects the kidneys too. He nearly died with it. He worked in security for a car company ,so mainly worked alone, but still got it. Only in his 50's, so not elderly. He is still very poorly and has oxygen at home. My aunt was in tears as she said she can't even go and stay with him for at least 2 weeks, and he lives alone.

Its nice your lad is keeping you busy messaging you, as the tv is not that good.

And not even Love Island this summer for you to enjoy.

That's great you got so much done in the garden, it was a nice day here too today.

Yes utility bills are so expensive  now. Hope you can manage to reduce it.

How nice you are going to speak to your brother is Spain tomorrow. Did he originally go there for the warm weather?

Did the usual today..... a little doggie walk, bit of tidying and washing, little swing on swingchair.

Son made a huge macaroni cheese for 5 of us tonight, I love his cheese sauce..

Watching the drama on bbc1 about an autistic boy, watched the last series and it was good.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

You can't believe everything you read, all the papers are ringing people up to get a story for their publication.

The government didn't start this virus so they can't be to blame, they can only do so much with the resources they have.

There are 21,723 care homes in the uk and NI etc and they have always sourced their own equipment, nothing to do with he government.

Of course there will be a high death rate in care homes, it goes without saying the residents are old and infirm so have very little chance of survival, the carehome decides who goes in and when, not the government.

Did the government say they told hospitals to send patients back with the virus? that could be an error on the part of the hospital certainly not the government telling them to.

The government followed the advice of the scientists and the medical profession, they don't make decisions on their own, the decision was nothing to do with the economy it was done via a body who considered the risk. which was probably pretty low because the race is outside and the transmission is mainly indoors, face to face.

I think you are being a bit unfair, the government aren't magicians, they have to get the equipment made or buy it, do you think they have a warehouse under the house of commons full of PPE?, i don't understand what you mean, the whole world was trying to buy the same thing.

Yes, after it effects your lungs it effects the blood making it sticky so it blocks your kidneys, a terrible disease.

Yes, my lad moved to Spain as its warm and very cheap to live, he says, he's 6 yrs younger than me so it will be good to see them.

Thats a lot of Macaroni Cheese, wow for 5 people, well done him, thats quite something to put on his CV.

My next door neighbough fell again, i heard her shouting, she fell in the garage, she must fall a few times a day, she just gets dizzy and shouldn't leave her seat, but she does, she shouted to ring her husband but we didn't have the number so she went round to knock on the door, he is very old and infirm but he can get help on the phone as she can't get up on her own, and you could damage her trying to lift her so they have to get the air cushions to get her standing, and with social distancing things are even worse now.

She has more visitors than the queen but she forgot to ask them to get stuff from the freezer in the garage.

This will all end one day, but not one day soon.

Keep safe, sleep tight and stay happy.

Hicky

Evening All.

Another nice day, 17c sunny and a gentle breeze.

Had bacon on the bbq today then it goes on toast.

Had a vid call from Spain, my brother is fine, he's on an Island with no Covid-19 deaths.

Had a vid call from Oz as well, all good and it looks line a grandson on the way.

The gardener picked up his big tray of veg seedlings, he is happy with those.

Rang the gas people because the gas meter not talking to the hub so estimated bill.

Trying to get a delivery of Grano dust for the garden so i can start the gardener off on the fake grass project.

O/H is making the lamb shoulder roast dinner, yummy.

Picked up a few weeds from the blue slate, they arent rooted in they are bare root as there's no soil.

Hope you are all well and keeping safe.

Hicky

Hi both xxx

Baz

hope you are managing well.Doe your ankle till feel painful when you try to walk on it?

SewingBee tonight, hooray, looking forward to seeing the kiddies and joining you on the forum.

Hicky

Glad you got the good weather, we did too. It does make life easier when the sun shines and we can go in the garden. I had a nice little sit in the garden.

I had a shopping delivery, so it took ages to wipe it all down and put it away. But nice to have a good supply in again.

How nice your brother lives on an island in Spain with no virus deaths too.

I am not surprised your gardener was pleased with his collection of seedlings you gave him.

Are you saying your lad and and wife told you today they are expecting a baby boy?

My neighbour was picking out the weeds from his slate yesterday. The slate does look nice in gardens.

Son made a big korma curry for the family tonight, withc chicken breast and added potato/carrots.

HOpe you can sort the delivery for the fake grass.

Took dog our usual stroll tonight just local though.

Nearly time to watch Sewing Bee, so must do a quick tidy first.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

I gave the gardener onions, sweetcorn, tomatoes, lettuce, pepper, celery, cucumber, hope they survive.

I made 2 more circles from the end of the soaker hose, one for the Walnut tree and one for a Fig tree, i can see me using this method next year for all the big tubs, so simple and i can bury the pipe as it only has a 4mm mini plastic pipe connecting it from a main line of 13mm pipe with a 13mm to 4mm reducing tee, i would have to my more tee's but you can buy bags of 25 pretty cheap.

I can't get through to the gravel company, tried one the gardener gave me but will try that again tomorrow.

The Korma is too mild for me, a bit of a Madras lover, try others though.

All the programs i turn to i end up changing as i have seen before, so annoying, recordings again.

Have a good evening, sleep tight, we get some easing of the lockdown Sunday for Monday, not sure what.

Hicky

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky  Hope everyone is having a nice day . I’ve had a busy morning ....gardener and window cleaner came ...load  of washing done ....went for a walk around the garden ....and I’ve just had a lovely video call with three of the Darnies (Ros , Ducky and Scatts) It was sunny here earlier , but it’s actually raining now

Mollie , it was lovely seeing you yesterday evening ....hope you enjoyed it ...I thought some of the smocked dresses and dungarees were really quite good ....if you fancy joining us for Marigold Hotel this evening you’d be very welcome Yes, my ankle let’s me know when I’ve done enough , so I go and rest it Hicky , glad your son is on an island with no Covid My gardener mowed the lawns and trimmed the front hedge today ....but is coming back on Saturday to weed the back garden...which will be a mammoth job ! I’ll be glad when , in a couple of weeks , I can do some gardening myself

Anyway , whatever you are doing this evening, enjoy and take care

Baz

Evening Baz.

19c today, rather beautiful sun all day and a gentle breeze.

Had 2 crumpets for brekkie, for tea decided to cook 1kg of meat so i can freeze to make meals further down the line.

I used 20% of the meat for a Jalfrezi curry tonight, will freeze the other 4 portions in the liquid beef stock i used to cook it. as it's not good to freeze cooked meat dry.

O/H was out at the supermarket at 6.15am she got a decent shop but no ready made puff pastry.

got plenty of bread and most of what we needed.

Made 2 more watering rings for 2 trees.

You've had a busy day it seems, and a lovely video call, that is great.

It's not my son, it's my brother who is in Spain.

I managed to order the Grano Dust and the decking i need and joining plates so the garden changes are on the way, but they said they didn't have the deep fake grass, oh dear.

Have a good evening and stay in and safe.

Hicky

both xxx

Baz

how lovely for you to have a nice video call with three of the Darnies.   Is it the first time you have spoken via a video with them? I have never spoken via video, not sure I'd know how to.

Did you manage to keep your distance from the gardener and the window cleaner, as you don't want any germs coming your way whilst you are recovering yourself? Hopefully you will be able to enjoy doing it yourself again soon.

But you have been busy today, and its so good you can at least manage a walk round the garden now. You are doing as much as most of us are doing now. But good job you do rest your ankle when it starts to ache. As you had a lot of damage to it.

I did really enjoy the show and the company for Sewing Bee, so was glad you asked me, thank you. I loved the smocked dresses, so cute for littlies. And I thought the kiddies looked so cute in their dungarees.

Shame Marigold Hotel was cancelled. I will have to try and remember to watch out for it next week.

HIcky

that was a good variety of produce you gave the gardener. HOpe it all does well for him.

Yes too many repeats on tv now, but I guess that won't improve now they have had to pause filming.

That's good your OH got a good shop in today. I hope it was quiet as she went so early in the morning. Did she choose to get it herself, or were you unable to get a click and collect?

Shame they didn't have the fake grass, especially as you managed to get Grano dust.

You are making good progress with those watering rings.

Hot day here today, so sat on swing chair. A neighbour decided to spray paint his garage door, so we had to come in, as it was blowing in our garden! And it stank, you could even see it in the air.

Son fried some halloumi for tea and we had it in wraps with salad and the strawberries.

Had a surprise delivery from Iceland tonight. Daughter had ordered some treats as we can't go out to eat eg...nice pizzas, Gregs pasties, noodles...

Watched Have I got News For you, but couldn't find anything else to watch.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

O/H can get in early as she is an employee so they let her in as the security know who she is.

She prefers to shop herself and knowing where everything is makes life easier of course, we tried the click and collect, a real disaster, waste of time.

Very happy with the watering system now, all seem to be growing fine for now.

I will make more enquiries about the fake grass, but o/h was going to buy it from a little windfall that came the other day, it seems that we are owed some money from the PPI thingy from many moons ago, she must have applied, i didn't know, she hasn't got the money yet.

You certainly shouldn't spray paint if there is any wind at all, crazy.

I meant to have some more fruit and ice cream earlier but forgot, had 2 crumpets or i will wake up hungry.

Your fried halloumi sounds nice in a wrap, tasty.

That surprise delivery was nice to get.

I have a Pizza in the fridge, might have that tomorrow.

Look after yourself and keep safe, smile and it will all be over soon.

Hicky

Evening All.

Lovely today with 17c sun and a gentle breeze.

Had eggs on toast for brekkie, and for tea had a Pizza with extra mozz cheese all over.

Have decide to use the 6 black buckets (B&Q) type to form a pyramid 3, 2, 1 and a structure of plastic canes/rods to provide a support structure so i can supply the watering needed, i cut another 4ft of soaker hose and ran it along the frame and connected it to a water hose which supplies Zone 2 which is the raised beds tested it because if you press the manual button on the zone timers and the main one it gives you 10 minutes of water without altering any settings, tomorrow i will plant some seedling i have over and nowhere to put them, hate to bin them.

Also, i made a water level test probe for the Hydroponic buckets as you cant see in them of course, i drilled a 40mm hole with the taper drill, so easy and then got a piece of 13mm clear flexible piping, added an adapter to fit a small tap and the other end a blanking piece with a 2mm hole drilled in the end, then fastened the pipe to a cane, marking measured positions.

You open the tap, fit the pipe down to the bottom of the bucket, turn the tap off and raise the pipe, the water level is trapped in the clear pipe so i know if the bucket needs some more water with feed, too simple really, but it works.

I have ordered a sample of fake grass from a company that just deals in fake grass.

There has been a massive street party here all day, and till 9pm tonight, music games, bingo the lot, bunting all hung from streel lamps etc.

Have a good day, stay ina nd stay safe.

Hicky

both xxx

Baz

hope your ankle is not bothering you too much today. Did you manage to get into the garden today?

Gogglebox tonight, hooray.

Hicky

that is handy your OH is allowed in the shop early by security. Nice and quiet for her to choose for herself then.

That's great you had a nice surprise with a windfall coming your way.

Good idea to order a sample of fake grass before you decide.

Your water system is keeping you busy I see, sounds very complicated to do.

We too had a nice day weather wise today.  Very warm and sunny.

OH made a bunting for the front of our house. Printed off Union Jack and Welsh flag alternative buntin shapes, cut them out, then joined them with rope. Good job it didn't rain. Quite a few houses here had buntins out. One neighbour asked us to join them for their social distancing party at 4pm.  We all took our own little table and chairs and sat well away from each other, eating our own nibbles and drinking our own wine. One guy had made a military style outfit and little pretend medals he'd made too, and his wife was in 1940's clothes, even the headscarf. There was 11 of us in all , including me, OH and our daughter.

I think the street party in your street sounded a lot busier than that HIcky? Do you think they did social distancing or not?

We stayed about an hour and half then came home as daughter wanted to make party food for son's birthday. We had eg....pizza, chicken skewers, brie, salad, salt and peppper chips. We too like to add extra cheese to our pizza.

Then took doggie a little local walk.

TV time now.

Have a good evening both xxx

M

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky  How are we all today Very sunny and warm here , not that I’ve been out,  cos the garden team have been here all morning weeding and trimming all the back garden hedges . It’s going to cost a bit , but it really needed it ....and once it’s done, and I’m back on my feet properly , I should be able to keep it under control Apart from that I’ve hoovered and done some washing and ironing. I’m finding getting around easier now , although I wish the big wound would de scab ( like the small wound) so I can stop having to put a dressing on it ! But it should be ok once I can stop wearing this bliddy boot  Hope you are both enjoying your Saturday too .

Mollie , I thought Lee and Jenny were hilarious last night So sad to see that June had died though I used to love her (and her late husband ) How lovely that you still managed to have a VE Day celebration I think there were some individual parties going on here , cos I could hear lots of wartime songs being played Hicky , don’t worry , I don’t go out to either the window cleaner , or the gardener . I leave the window cleaning money on the step ....and pay the garden via online banking Lovely that you had a street party too I wonder what sort of easing they will announce tomorrow ....not that it makes any difference to me

Anyway , I hope you both have a good evening  .....not much on the tv ....although I am enjoying Michael Portillo Asian Railway Journey.  Take care and stay safe .

Baz

Evening Mollie & Baz, lovely her today, `9c sunny and a gentle breeze.

Had bacon on the bbq again on toast, for tea had bacon ribs then made battered prawns with sweet chili sauce and rice with added chili paste.

Planted the rest of the left over plants in the new pyramid of 6 buckets.

My order of 5 small square clear bowls came, to get them had to buy other stuff as they had a minimum spend for delivery, so got 6 buckets and a brush/pan set, very handy too.

Using the bigger bowls in the fridge and freezer stops stuff falling out if its loose or in a bag, it also keeps the shelves tidy.

I can tidy away all the stuff i've had out for the winter/spring, get it all ready for next year, going to speak to the people who make the soaker hoses to see if my idea in using a pice in a circle for a tree in a tub or even for veg the same, i think i will change all my tubs over next year.

Mollie, We didn't go out, they played music till 9.30pm and we don't play bingo.

Sounds like you had a good party with the bunting and tables, they start with social distancing but it fades the more drink they have.

That party food for sons Birthday sounds lovely, love all that.

I probably put too much extra cheese on mine.

Baz, Glad you are finding getting around easier, don't do more than you need to, it's always a risk, yes getting the hedges etc cut best done if needed.

Big scabs do take a long time, new growth has to form underneath, don't touch or try to get it off or you will have to start all over again as the scar tissue can't be used for new growth.

They will only be easing places that can follow the distancing inside and out, so mainly garden centers and some shops i suppose.

Stay safe, we will get through this.

glad your garden got done today. Hopefully it won't be too long until you can manage to do it yourself again. How much longer is it until you can shed the boot?  Its good news that you are getting around better now though.Let's hope the big scab comes off soon.

Yes  Jenny and Lee are so funny together. Yes sad about lovely Jean. She did not live long after she lost her hubby. I used to love watching them together.

I am watching BGT tonight, as I enjoy it, even if many of the acts are not much good.

Hicky

You have been busy with your orders and plants.

Don't blame you not going out to the Bingo as I remember you said they don't really stick to social distancing, and they stay out a long time. and you must be careful with your vulnerability, We only stayed an hour and half, and luckily the small group there stuck to social distancing on their own drives and no one shared food or drink. I too have to be cautious after having pneumonia.

Have you tried a few odd spoons of mascapone on your pizza? Me and daughter love it on ours. I have started making mine with flatbread and tomato puree we got from Costoc, theirs is delicious.

OH did a BBQ tonight. Family had chilli chicken sausages, and we all had jacket potatoes (we find them delcious done on BBQ), salad and apples with sultanas and cinnamon powder in the middle. Very nice. It was the 1st time OH had used his new BBQ. we got it from costco online. here it is...ideal for a large family...

https://www.costco.co.uk/Garde...l-Barbecue/p/1900677

In Wales they say we can go for 2 lots of local exercising now, i have trouble getting motiviated to go just for one lot.   I think all that talk of lockdown easing a couple of days ago was just a bit of a publcity stunt, they know the death rate and amount of people still catching this dreadful disease is still far too high in the UK to ease a lot of anything. They are opening outdoor areas of garden centres here though, which makes sense as the supermarkets are open with social distancing, and it must be even easier to keep people apart in large outdoor garden centres.

Back to BGT now.

Have a good evening both xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

Did you wrap the potatoes in foil, how long did they take, some take nearly an hour in the oven so no idea how long on bbq.

I havent had Mascapone, don't often have Pizza though.

Had a look at your bbq, nice, you sure can cook a lot of food on that, i'm into gas ones as i mainly just want to do my bacon or a burger, i only use half of it as it is.

I noticed the Welsh pm has jumped the gun, a bit naughty really, not sure why.

I think the garden centers will open one way or another, maybe bringing items outside because outside is a lot less risky to catch the virus for a start.

You have to release people from lockdown in stages if it's safe to do so.

BGT was dreadful, only saw half, crazy.

Stay safe and have a good Sunday.

Have ordered the extra 13mm x 4mm tee pieces i need to do all the tubs, going to do them this year before the plants get too big, easy enough.

Hicky

Evening All.

Cool today at 11c cloudy with a moderate breeze.

Not what i like at all, didn't do much outside, had a sit in the summerhouse but it was only just over 10c.

For brekkie put 2 sausage in the oven and heated a tin of toms with toast.

For tea decided on having a breast of duck to get rid of it, baked 2 medium spuds and a small cauli and made some orange/lemon sauce to go with the duck, had a few easy peels to use with additional stuff of course like a little sugar, the peel chopped up, some lemon juice, a little cornflour liquid and some chili oil, heated and put the slice duck in, nice anyway.

Have a good day, stay safe and stay happy.

Hicky

both

Baz

hope you are feeling ok and getting around a little today.

Was it cool for you too there today?

Hicky

Don't blame you not doing a lot today as the weather had changed so much.

I just wore my sundress yesterday even though it was 8.30pm when we went for our walk, and I was still hot. But today at 6pm because it was a lot cooler here today, I needed to wear my peach coloured summer jacket, plus cardigan,  as the wind was so cool. Haven't worn the jacket before, got it half price (Β£10) at the end of summer last year from Asda.

Yes the barbeque is great for a family ,but  you can just use half of it if there are only a couple of you. OH found the exact same BBQ in Amazon for Β£380!

But as you say, we can't cook a quick smaller item like the morning bacon on it, which is the great advantage of the gas one over the charcoal one.

The potatoes must of taken about an hour and half from raw. We didn't put them in foil, the skins were quite dark, but tasted delicous.

So if ever you do need an expensive item it is worth checking if you can get it online from Costco first. (if you don't have to be a member to buy online, not sure?).

No the Welsh first minister didn't jump the gun. Due to our devolved government Mark Drakeford is entitled to announce Wales own plans for this. Nicola S announced her plans for Scotland just before Wales did, and like Wales and Northern Ireland, it was to carry on with the advice to "Stay Home", which I think is the sensible one. They have rejected England's "Stay Alert". I think "Stay Alert"  is at this stage an open invitation for this disease to spread.  I was never one for Scottish or Welsh independance, but after this, I am coming round to the idea. Boris did not even tell the other leaders of his plans until they read it in the Sunday papers today.  So no change for us, we will be staying home and just a local walk each day.

Your recipe for tea sounds tasteful. Did your OH like it or was it too spicy for her with the chilli?  I have been trying to get hold of a coly for ages, but shopping deliveries so far haven't had one.

At the VE party yesterday, I spoke to a neighbour who said she was feeling lonely as she lives alone since her hubby passed away a few years ago and her son left the area last year. So I gave her some jigsaws of my daughter's. She gladly accepted them. Then last night she knocked our door and left a big bunch of lovely flowers for me to say thank you. How sweet.

Not much to watch on tv for me tonight, think I'll watch a recording.

Have a good evening both xxx

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky  Very chilly , but the sun is out at the moment l Young lad next door has put my bins out ready for tomorrow , bless him . Apart from that I’ve not done much today ....just the usual washing , and cleaning the kitchen . I might hoover later , if I can rake up the energy  My ankle is isn’t too bad , but it still gets quite swollen when I’ve been using it  ....and from what I’ve read that is normal and can go on for months .....but it’s much better than it was . Hope everyone is have a nice relaxing day too

Mollie , I can finally give the boot the boot weekend after next I’ve been walking around without it for short periods ....which is a lovely feeling How lovely that your neighbour bought you flowers, but I can assure you , as someone  else who gets very lonely since my husband died ,  that your  kindness towards her will have meant the world Hicky , what do you think of the governments strategy ? I didn’t hear the speech ....just seen the comments Personally , I’m not going anywhere for the foreseeable future

It’s GBM finals this week ...so my 8 o’clock viewing is sorted Hope you both have a good evening , whatever you’re doing . Stay safe

Baz

Evening Mollie & Baz.

Cool here at 11c with some sun and cloud with a moderate breeze.

Had eggs on toast for brekkie for tea had a Laksa soup then battered squid rings.

Mollie, The meal i had was for me, we only share if it's a Sunday roast, o/h never eats what i make, she likes plain grub.

I suppose, Wales, Scotland and Ireland want to prove they will act independent of the UK Gov so jumped in first.

Nothing needs doing in the garden, just getting ready to redo all the tubs with the new idea, have to wait for the new 13mm x 13mm x 4mm reducing tee's to come.

I'll be staying in anyway as i can't get a face mask with the visor, i think you need that.

You neighbour appreciated the jigsaws, nice of her to bring you some flowers.

Yes, tv not helping the situation at all.

Baz, Don't do too much, don't think letting the ankle swell up is good for it, it create pressure on you brek doesn't it.

It will be great when you can give the boot the boot but you will still have to be very careful.

The Gov knows people want to get back to work, staying safe is the problem, you must be able to keep your distance.

A few more places oping Wednesday like garden centers etc, they are desperate to sell their plants etc.

Public transport will be a problem as they really need 2 doors, 1 in, 1 out but there is a problem with fares, unless they are free, also there is only 1 aisle.

Stay safe and keep smiling, stay alert and sleep well.

how nice of the young lad to put your bins out for you. Glad your ankle is much better, but when it swells up, is a good signal to tell you that you need to rest it. Not too long now until the boot gets the heave ho. Bet you can't wait.

I can imagine the loneliness has been even worse for you since we got this covid thing. But you are sensible saying you don't plan to go anywhere for the near future, especially now you have the twofold reasons of giving time for your injury to heal and avoiding this awful disease too.

Everyone in Wales they have spoken to on the news today say thery are relieved the Welsh minister's message was so clear and that we are to just stay home, as we were before.

Enjoy your GMB final tonight.

Hicky

hope you were able to get in your garden today.

It was quite a nice day here today, the wind was chilly, so I needed a light jacket again when we took the dog a walk, but I did manage to sit in the swingchair and gets lots of washing dry.

We had Greggs pasties with veg and graveyfor tea that daughter got from the Iceland delivery. Followed by strawberries and double cream.

Not sure what to watch tonight, might watch recordings.

Saw a consultant from ICU in Cardiff on the news and he said too many were out at gatherings and drinking on VE day that he fears his unit will be overwhelmed in the next couple of weeks. So worrying.

Looks like we have some  nice dry weather coming according to the forecast, hope they are right.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

The wind ruined the day really, with the temperature down the last thing i want is wind, it was ok in the summerhouse.found more doubled up bunches of grapes in the greenhouse, so hard to see what they are at the preflower stage.

I had a frozen pork pie, it sure slows you down eating it.

I had the rest of the strawberries and blueberries and a banana, have run out of icecream for now, have plenty of cream mind.

Well, if the public act wrong we will be back at square 1 in lockdown again.

Yes, the weather picks up from Wednesday

Watching Outback Opal Hunters.

Sleep tight.

Evening Syd and Everyone.

Thank you for popping in, the more the merrier.

Cool again today with 12c but sunny intervals which i like, the moderate breeze i don't like.

Not doing much in the garden as its all working fine, doing a bit of work in the summerhouse towards changing the veg tubs watering over to my new idea, just waiting for the reducing tee's to come so i can get that sorted, have got everything else.

Have to ring the stone company every morning to find out if they are delivering the Grano Dust bulk bag as i want to see them when they come to get it dropped in the best place.

The sample of Fake Grass hasn't arrived, was hoping it would but sending parcels with Royal Mail isn't a good idea, i parcel arrived a month late and with no way of tracing, they trace letters, what.

My wood foer the grass surround isn't coming till June, the joining brackets should be here in a week.

Had a cheese and tom toasty, well 2 really, those toasty bags that go in the toaster are great.

The Farmers Country Show on tonight, enjoy that.

This is a nice Food Box from Morrison's for Β£45

Stay safe, stay Alert and stay Happy, eat well and sleep well.

hope you are coping ok today with your ankle and the boot. Did you manage to get into the garden?

Hicky

pity we have had a couple of breezy days, but the forecast does say we are due some warm weather, so that should mean you will be able to enjoy your garden time again.  Good job it was ok in your summerhouse though.

Hope your dust and fake grass sample turns up soon.

Does the cheese and ham toasty still come out crispy in those toasty bags?  I have never tried those bags. Are the bags easy to clean?

We have had a few of the Β£35 Morrisons food boxes for essentials when we haven't been able to get a food delivery. They are really nice, good quality stuff. We have tried the meat and the vegetarian ones. Its fun opening them.   (especially during these times when there is not much to do!). But the larger new Β£45 is a new one. I think the new BBQ one looks good too.

OH made potatoes, sweet potatoes and apples with sultanas on his barbeque. They all came out nice, but sweet potatoes come out especially good.

Cool again for the dog walk, so on with the summer jacket again. Only a quick read and sit on the swingchair today as it was so cool. The washing dried nicely though.

Not much on tv again, but did manage to find the drama called The A Word on bbc1, and I do enjoy watching it.

Goodnight all xxx

Not a regular writer, but a regular visitor, and am glad to see you are all up and about and keeping yourselves well....xxx

Welcome Syd.

lovely to see you call in here.

I love your name, especially as you share it with my daughter's cute house bunny called Sydney.

Hope you too are keeping fit and well.

And hope you can call in here again soon. x

M

Evening Mollie.

It's nice in the summerhouse, if the sun hasn't come out i turn the fan heater on for a bit.

, i have hundreds of screws everywhere screwed into every bit of wood with pieces of wood with screws in bothe sides fastened to the roof struts, i like everything that can be hung, hung, if it can't i put loops of cord around so it can hang up, i like to be able to see everything, and i remember where it is for when i need it.

I cleaned the toasty bag by turning it inside out, i used 2 so i made 2 toasty's at once, the secret is to only put the toaster on for a minute then let it sit inside for 30 seconds so the heat can travel through the cheese and tom center then turn the heat on for another minute, my toaster doesn't pop up, you turn the timer on for what period you want.

Wash the bag under warm water with some washing up liquid. it says you can put in the dishwasher but you would have to have it inside out and sit it over some prongs to get it to stay in position.

Those food boxes are super, strange Sainsbury's not doing one, that Β£45 one had everything i like in it.

The money for the PPI came through, that is handy for the new fake grass and the grass and underling only comes to just over Β£300.

I haven't seen the bbq one as we don't get Morrisons online.

That was nice doing all that on the bbq, it tasts so much better.

I fell to the floor the other night, i was in bed, it was pretty dark, i had left the earphones turned on and a video had come to life, i had to turn them off so i went over to the desk, moved my zip jumper off the seat but only had hold of one of the arm rest when i tried to sit down, i must have been on the seat edge as the chair shot away as it's the 5 wheel type and of course i just went sitting down tot he floor, my arm took a lot of the fall as it had been over the arm rest, i wasn't hurt apart from the bang on my arm, not sure why i didn't put the bedside light on, there is always some light as the hall light never goes off at night, also the loung/diner also has a dusk to dawn table lamp so we can go the kitchen which is some way away and i don't like the place in darkness.

I watched a few minuted of the A word then went to the recording, i have 85 of the "How do they do it" and hundreds of other ones.

will be in bed by 11pm.

Have a good sleep and stay safe.

Yes, talking about Syd, the name of my FIL and one of my grandsons, and my lad in Oz lives in Sydney.

Afternoon Mollie , Syd and Hicky  How are we all today ?Ive been out in the garden feeding the birds , and finally managing to refill the bird bath .. But my big achievement for today was that I managed to climb into the bath ...with my boot on ....and very carefully holding on to the grab rail ....get the shower hose down ....so that getting out again and by leaning over the bath I could wash and rinse my hair properly , without the use of the darn jug over the sink !! I even managed to * shower* one arm and most of my top half by dangling it all over the bath tub  Anyway , I hope you are both  having a good Wednesday .

Mollie , hope you and yours are keeping well ......quick reminder that its Sewing Bee tonight They are making sportswear Hope you are going to join us Hicky , ouch Glad you never did yourself any serious damage . Not putting the landing light on was what lead me to head butting the bathroom basin ! I’ve now got motion sensor lights Syd , lovely to see you over here as well ....hope you and the family are staying safe

Anyway , have a good evening everyone . Take care

Baz

Evening Baz.

Glad you managed to get out in the garden again, had to laugh when you said you filled the bird bath, then said you managed toi get in the bath.

I think you are taking risks doing all this with your boot on, you mustn't take chances on havinf an accident, it could put you back months, or more.

Lucky i don't have stairs, thats why we sold the house to buy a bungalow, all one level, i should have put the bedside table on, i usually do, silly me.

Yes, motion sensor lights are very handy, the porch, hall and dining room have dusk to dawn sensors and the kitchen has the under-cupboard mini led strips which i turn off when i fill the dishwasher before bed.

Forgot to say, 11c again, sunny intervals and a moderate breeze.

Had bacon on the bbq then on toast, for tea had baked spuds and fried Hake.

Stay safe, be careful and sleep tight.

gosh what hard work it is for you to get in the bath to use the shower hose. Not long now until the boot goes, so that should mean things are easier for you.

But as Hicky says, you must take care as it would be so easy for you to slip.

Thanks for the Sewing Bee reminder, I will join you.

Always best to have those motion lights for safety.

HIcky

that;s good you are enjoying your summerhouse, yes hooks are very handy to store things.

Thanks for the toaster bag hints, I will have to try them.

Oh dear, at your fall, good job you didn't hurt yourself, but I bet it shook you up for awhle. Take care now. x

I never realised Syd was so popular in your family,   My grandad was also called Syd.

Cool wind again here today, but not a bad day as it was nice and dry.

Had jacket potatoes, mini pizza, veg , cheese sauce, (son made me) for tea.

Then had some frozen cherries with a bit of caramel cake and cream for pudding.

Sewing bee time now.

Goodnight xxxx

M

Evening \mollie.

Not too bad here today, 13c with sunny and a moderate breeze.

Had sausages on the bbq and then on toast, nine.

For tea decided on Chili con carne with rice as i have spme mince it was very nice.

Been working on the new watering system for the big tubs, finished it, wow, put them all one one system as the total ampunt of soaker hose used only came to 13m and the original length is 15m so it should be fine, i put 15 tee pieces in a hose pipe so each tub can have the 4mm pipe connected, made 15 circles of the soaker hose each 33" long, each tub has a 4mm veri flow tap in it.

Have sorted some fake grass, the sample came but o/h wasn't impressed, at grass-direct.co.uk never seen so much grass but the Bahamas one in the Elite section is good so going to order that in the morning.

Yes, i was lucky really, falling is always a preblem, the seat may have help by slowing my fall, it was a struggle to get up, had to turn onto my knees as theres nothing to grab hold of only the desk and thats not much use.

Theres something about baked spuds, so easy and so nice with lots of butter.

I've got loads of cake mixes and cookie dough, have got choc chips as well.

Hope Baz is ok and managing with the Boot.

Keep safe, stay alert and stay happy.

Hicky
