Good morning Hicky and Mollie.

Baz has asked me to let you know she had a fall on the stairs at home yesterday.

She has broken her ankle in two places and will be in hospital at least until Tuesday. She didn’t want you worrying because she is absent.

Thank you Yogi19.

Oh dear, how dreadful, poor Baz, i did wonder were she was, thank you so much for letting us know, this is going to make her life just that bit harder, give her my best wishes for a speedy recovery if you get chance to message or speak to her.

Thanks again.

Hicky

Good Evening.

The BBQ didn't go as planned, it needs an overhaul, it will have to wait so had to cook my meal in the oven instead, made a rather tasty rice to go with it then opened a tub of Thai Green Curry as a sidedish, it was super anyway.

Didn't do much today, watched some darts this afternoon, on again tonight, am recording the ice dancing.

I was going to plant the peas but the weather couldn't decide between cloud sun and rain.

Had a little swing on the seat swing just to get a bit of sun.

Watching Gold Divers on GMax.

Watch this, wow, incredible, he builds an underground houes, he doesn't even have a shovel.

How to make a mat to ly on without tools, just hands and feet, incredible.

How to build a house on a river using bamboo, and no tools, fantastic, worth a watch, never seen anything like it.

Oh no Yogi.

Poor Baz. What a horrible and scary thing to happen to her.

I was wondering why she hadn't been here to discuss Gogglebox or the DOI final.

Typical of Baz to think of others by asking you to let us know.

Please send her our love and best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Has she got someone to look after Sammy? I know she will be concerned about her.

And thank you Yogi for letting us know.

M

Hicky

That's good you are managing sight wise with the tv and pc.

Hope you can manage to get hold of the gardener to help you with the tubs.

Pity your BBQ didn't go as planned. What went wrong, the acutally cooking, or lighting it up? Good job you enjoyed the oven meal after though.

Yes it was that sort of a day here too, nice and sunny, then a very heavy shower or two suddenly arrives, so don't blame you, leaving the peas until it is a bit more predicatable, and just sticking to your darts today. Its good you managed to squeeze in a couple of swings in the sunshine. though.

Poor Baz,  it is not going to be easy for her stuck in hospital then managing at home whilst the ankle heals.

Didn't go out today,my arthritis in back/ankle not so good, as I think I did too much the last 3 days, so I just did some washing and tidying. OH got our carpet cleaner out and did the lounge carpet.

Enjoying DOI final tonight. Can't believe how much Joe has improved during this series, thought his Chaplain routine was really good.

A new series of Race Aross the World tonight. The last series was brilliant, if you have chance I recommend it. It's on bbc2 at 8pm.

Have a good evening xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

How dreadful for Baz now, bad enough being in hospital but it's going to be a problem when they let her go home, if they do.

The problem with the BBQ was, I should have given it a service to clean all the parts and the jets/holes for the gas to come out and the electrical sparks, it wasn't lighting properly and one burner didn't light from the one next to it, then i think it blew out as it was making a funny noise so i turned it off.

I made a special rice from a Greek recipe and had a portion of Thai Green Curry as a side dish, it made 2 meals so i froze one.

We had a vid call from Oz so it was nice chatting and watching granddaughter.

Rang my Lad who had the hip op, he can drive again in a week, still having problems with movement.

That camera comany have asked me if i would like to test their new security camera, i told them i cant fit it and what i thought was wrong with it anyway, it has a mic and speakers built in so you can talk to those it picks up, i said the mic and speaker should be on a separate lead so you can hide the camera better, if the sound came from the camera then they would know where the camera was.

Thats not good, the arthritis playing up, best just rest.

I've recorded doi for tomorrow.

I'll have a look at that race program on iplayer, what are they racing in or on? cars, boats, buses, bikes, trains, planes or all of them.

Have a good evening and a good sleep.

Hicky

Hi Mollie and Hicky Hope you are both having a good day. ...or at least better than me !Im still waiting for the operation to fix my ankle ...it might be tomorrow , but I doubt it ....got to wait for the swelling to go down ....then it will be 6/8 weeks on crutches ....oh joy ! Anyway , could be worse ...at least they have free WiFi

Mollie, sorry your arthritis is so bad ....it’s no joke eh  Old age certainly isn’t for wimps , that for sure !Hicky , sorry your son is still having movement problems ...but hopefully the worst is over for him now  The DOI result was a bit of a shocker , eh I honestly didn’t see that coming tbh

Anyway , it’s Masterchef tonight ...so thank goodness for AirPods Take care both .

Baz

Evening Baz.

Great to hear from you, wasn't expecting you to be able to get back on so quick.

I assume you will need some metalwork and screws to fix your ankle, suck bad luck having an accident like that.

Free Wifi, it's something, at least you can stay in touch.

Hope the swelling goes down then so they can do the op for you, yes, it's going to be awkward for you when you get out, 6 or 8 weeks is a long time, hope now you will take it easy.

I haven't watched the doi recording yet but with the result on BBC almost all day it would have been impossible not to see the result, i am shocked as well, but well deserved, i can see why he won though.

Have a good evening, well, if you can considering your circumstances.

Hicky

both xxx

Baz

Aaaww you poor thing.. still stuck in hospital and waiting for an op, so horrible for you. Let's hope the swelling does down soon, so the op can be done and out of the way. As you say, thank goodness for the free wifi, along with your airpods, it must make such a difference for you, as it is a long day in hospital without something to occupy your mind. Not going to be easy for you with the 6-8 weeks on crutches too. Perhaps you should do arm exercises with a couple of tins to build up strength in your arm muscles ready for the crutches?

Did you manage to get someone to look after Sammy?

Yes DOI result was such a shock, Joe and his partner looked so surprised. And what a good loser Perrie was,so polite to Joe. I think Joe's win was well deserved, he must of worked so hard to go from all that falling over, to giving that Charlie Chaplin routine.

You are so right, old age certainly is not for wimps.

Hicky

Pity your BBQ didn't work properly. HOpefully you can sort it out when you get chance. But I expect you enjoyed your Thai curry.

How nice you got a call from Oz and a chat with the little one.

At least your lad can get back to driving in a week, I bet he has missed that. Hope his movement improves soon.

You must have impressed that camera company with your knowledge.

Last series the "Race Round the world" used any transport they could. Sometines it involved them running to get the to checkpoint after using some type of transport to get them as close as they could. Haven't had chance to watch it yet, but recorded it.

Went to Costco today, got there for when it opended at 10, it was ok at first, but then got very busy. Cafe guy told me the weekend had been packed, as busy as Christmas time. They had notes on some items saying only 1 allowed per member, eg toilet rolls, kitchen rolls. They had even sold out of the big bags of pasta they usually have lots of. Had my usual jacket potato for lunch there.

Was very tired when I got back.

For tea, son fried some yummy halloumi we bought from Costoc and we had it on a wrap with salad and sweet chilli sauce Then I had some raspberries and custard after.

Have a good evening Hicky.

Hope you can cope ok with your wifi viewing Baz.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

Did you see the 3 videos i posted, before the post from yogi about Baz, you might have missed them in my last post to you.

Didn't do a lot, it was 9c today so decided to plant the peas, so thats done, spoke to gardener he's going to try and fit me in.

Marinated some chicken wings for tea and made a salad to go with it.

For brekkie made sausage, bacon and eggs with beans, nice.

I've gone onto having black coffee, not sure why but it saves a lot of messing getting and putting milk in.

Ordered a mini gardener weather vane as i usually have one but they don't last for ever.

Stripped the BBQ down, took all the gas pipes and covers and grating out, can't see a problem, it needs wirebrushing but i'll check it out,

Yes, that race and getting to checkpoints, not really into that.

I think a lot of stores should have put limits on quantities that people could buy like Costco, it's madness, at least you got your lunch in there.

That sweet chilli sauce is nice.

Have a good evening and sleep.

Hicky

Evening Everyone.

Hope Baz is managing and comfortable in Hospital.

Hope Mollie is fit and well, and staying cold free.

13c today with cloud and a bit of light drizzle, cleared up in the afternoon with a strong wind.

The gardener came at 09.30 and he completed all my outstanding jobs, so very pleased, he did some weeding on the blue slate and planted the dry root shrubs/flowers o/h had bought for the front raised bed.

When asked what the bill was after a couple of hours and 2 cups of tea he mentioned he had a problem with one of his machines, a mains hedge cutter, so he went to his car to get it, the lead had some damage as they twist and crack and he had put some tape over it but it had gone bang he said, so we mended that, checked the fuse and tested it, he wouldn't take any money for his time, i only got him because he was laid off a tempory job because of the weather so i was lucky.

Didn't have any brekkie as i forgot but for tea decided on Spag Bol without the Spag, made a tasty rice cake to have with the Bol, used one of my 250g mince packs, there was too much so will be able to freeze some.

Just had a bowl of peach slices with a banana and some double cream.

Have a good Evening.

Hicky

Hicky

I hope Baz is ok, I wonder if the swelling has gone down enough for them to do her op? I hope so, as they will mean she will be nearer to getting home.

oh yes, I did miss those videos , they look very interesting, so will look at them after I post this.

Glad you managed to get in the garden to do the peas. Lucky the gardener was free so he could come to you so quickly. And how nice you were able to fix something for him, so he didn't charge.

HOpe you are pleased with the weather vane, my OH bought one awhile ago, but as you say, they don't last too long.

Fancy forgetting your brekkie! Were you busy doing something else that you forgot?

The torrential rain and wind was awful again all last night, so bad that the kitchen roof has started leaking again. OH had to put a pot under it to catch the drips. Luckily it has stopped again now the rain stopped. Landlord has asked the roof guy to call out again. But he didn't turn up today. We had electrician out to do the electric check today though, all rented houses have to do this apparently.

Watched Joanna Lumley in Cuba tonight. I enjoy her travel shows.

Goodnight Hicky xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

Yes, i agree, hope Baz has been able to be operated on so she can be discharged soon.

Yes, very pleased to get the gardener, i always fix his work tools/machines for him, otherwise he has to book them into a repair place which could take weeks.

Not sure where to install the weather vane yet, i'll look tomorrow when it comes, if it's early enough, coming by DPD.

The problem with the brekkie was, with the gardener coming at 09.30 and leaving at about 11.30 i then concentrated on sorting out what i was going to have for tea so wasn't worth making a meal then.

You need that roof fixing, it you had a lot of rain it will do a lot of damage.

When Joanna was on i was flicking between station 3, 11 and 37 as i wanted to watch the 3, awkward.

Have a good evening/sleep, the farm shop i hope tomorrow, will be wearing my blue gloves, to be honest noone should go out really, so i'll have to be very careful with my condition.

Hicky

Evening Everyone.

Hope you are OK Baz, have you had your op, are you home yet, so many questions but hope you are in good spirits wherever you are.

Hope you also are well Mollie, hope the throat isn't bothering you too much and you can sleep ok.

Not a bad day here really, 11c sun and cloud but pretty windy.

Went to the farm shop, had brekkie there, nice, got my fruit and veg ok and some belly pork top try a  recipe i saw from Thailand, and some pork steaks for sunday.

Been trying a jar of green chilli in mustard oil given to o/h at work by a regular who has an allotment, he often gives her stuff to try of course she doesn't eat stuff like that, but i do, i am going to write a note to give my review, he also sent a jar of chilli and garlic, haven't opened that one yet, i have 2 jars of pickle o/h bought me in a hamper of stuff she got for me, won't need to buy any for a while.

My weather vane came this afternoon, it is now up fitted and working, will be posting a picture when i get a good one.

Had a pork oie sitting in the summerhouse, a lot nicer now with the windows not shuddering, i filled in an online form which then gives me a sheet of what to do each week of the month, so i have a printed veg planting planner, great, i start tomorrow.

For tea i had a pack of bacon ribs with a jar of green chilli in mustard oil, nice, i got 3 packs so have frozen 2 of them, choice is a fantastic thing.

Hicky

Hope Baz is getting on ok and will be home soon.

Hicky

hope you enjoyed your visit to the Farm shop, and bought something nice. (like you usually do).  Yes best to be very cautious if you do go out with this awful disease around right now.

i didn't go out today, but my friend came for her fave brekkie of cheese and tomatoes on toast and today she also had 2 cheese and chilli hot cross buns I'd got from M and S. (my friend loves her food).   My friend bought her daughter's little dog too and he enjoyed playing in the garden looking for bits of chicken I threw for him. It was nice and dry too today so I got some washing part dried on the washing line.

Going to watch double Corrie and the Dawn French series I watched part 1 of last week.

Have a good evening HIcky. xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

Just been arranging my next brekkie out with one of my lads for next week, he works funny days and days, last time he came he brought a massive photo album of them all on holiday in Tunisia at the holiday village Manar, it looks so lovely there.

Formula 1 starts this weekend from Australia but as it's live on sky we only get bits of it late on.

Had my blue gloves on, don't think i have an option, good job i don't go out much.

Your friend sure likes your cheese on toast, the last time i did it i put the cheese on top, what do you do?

Just had a big pear, a banana and 2 Kiwi.

Watching Salvage Hunters just now, then i'll flick through and see what to watch next.

Have a good evening.

Hicky

Evening Everyone.

Hope you are comfortable Baz and maybe managed to get your op and go home.Sending my best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Hope you are also ok Mollie, this dreadful virus is going to have a dreadful impact on our daily lives.

Apart from the wind ot was quite nice today, it was 10c with sunny intervals but a strong wind.

I made an omelette with cheese for brekkie, then went planting some seeds in the summerhouse in compartmented seed trays.

The onion sets arrived today in the post but with the high winds i decided to stay in the summerhouse.

I boiled my nice big piece of belly pork 1.7kg marinated and boiled for an hour.

Then i saw a video that says some countries like to cut very thin slices and make a dipping sauce, which i did, nice, anly cut a few slices, have now thick sliced the rest and choped into cubes for frying tomorrow.

Have a good evening.

Hicky

Baz

I too hope you are recovering and won't be too long coming home now.

Hi Hicky

That will be nice to meet your lad for brekkie again. That was nice for you that he bought a giant photo album of their holidays.

Your fruit selection sounds very healthy.   I have just had some of my frozen raspberries with custard, very nice. Son made a nice roast dinner for tea tonight, all the family enjoy his Yorkshire puddings.

Was it nice and warm in your summerhouse today? Best place for you in the strong winds we had today.

Those videos were good. Incredible how they can build that.

Yes this virus sounds awful, you are wise to use your gloves if you need to go out. As my son said, our breathing still isn't back to normal after the last dose of pneumonia,so we are keeping out of crowded places!

We went food shopping in asda early before it got too busy, didn't touch the trolley handle, just used Dettol wipes to hold onto, and quickly bunged the food we needed into the trolley and got out! They had no paracetomol at all, and were low on tinned food, but got what we need. Now I intend to keep out of shops as much as possible.

Not sure what to watch on tv tonight ,might just watch some recordings.

Have a good evening Hicky. xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

when i see my lad next Wednesday all being well, o/h will be able to come, i asked if his o/h could make it but she has a sore throat at the mo so not sure.

That was nice, your son making a nice roast dinner, who have them well trained.

Yes, in the summer house it was 20c so a good temperature for the new planted seeds, i will be planting each week as suggested by the weather veg chart i have.

I love watching those videos, so clever what can be built by these people, i watch so many on cooking etc as well, passes an hour or 2, there is literally thousands of videos to watch.

I only realised before, i went outside and brought the wheelie bin into the bin store and din't put any gloves on, oh dear, and you really do need to wear some gloves, don't touch anything with your hands, yes using dettol wipes is as good as anything i imagine.

They are saying the virus can stay active on hard surfaces for 72 hours, oh dear, thats a lot.

Its ok saying only 560 have tested positive for the virus but 5 to 10,000 probably have it.

I think people are passing the virus around before they even have the symptoms, that is the scary thing, you have to go on the assumption that everyone has the virus, so be careful.

Yes, stay in unless you need to go out, at least it can't be passed through the tv, just as well.

Have a good evening.

Hicky

Evening Everyone.

Hope you are well and ok Baz, have you had your op, are you at home?

Hope you are well Mollie, tough times now with this dreadful virus.

10c today with sunny intervals and a fresh breeze.

Had egg sandwiches for brekkie after my shopping arrived.

Planted the onion sets, the Fen Globe ones, just 50 as they needed to be 6" apart if you wanted a decent size growth.

I also planted the first of 4 sowing 2 weeks apart of Spring Onions - White Lisbon.

For tea i made some tasty rice and the cubes of some of the belly pork i deep fried, then i fried the rice, i made a small pan of Thai Red Curry as a side dish, not inpressed with the porh, it was better thinly sliced.

Got a video this morning on whatsapp of the granddaughter trying to talk, a bit soon yet, but it's coming.

They have cancelled the first 4 F1 meeting for now, nothing till maybe May, oh dear.

Have a good evening, and a good weekend.

Hicky

Hicky

no word from Baz in awhile, hope she is ok and recovering.

Sorry your OH has a sore throat, hope it doesn't last long.

Yes so horrible the way this virus is going. As you say, even when we don't leave home, we have to think, think and think again about who has touched what. I heard  a lady on tv say the virus even lives on cardboard for 24 hours! So I now quickly get rid of amazon delivery boxes, then wash my hands. I treat envelopes from anything the postie delivers with the same caution. After reading your post I reminded OH about the bins too. As you say, a lot more people have it than the numbers say, as they are not testing most people.

You are right, good job it can't be passed through the tv...

We did take the dog a walk down the seafront as it was quite nice today. And then daughter collected fish and chips for tea from the little local village chippie, as it is too small to ever get busy there. I had a cheese/potato rissole with mushy peas, chips and gravy. Delicous. Shame you were not impressed with your pork.

That's good your summerhouse was so nice and warm again for you, and the weather was good enough for you to get stuff done in the garden again.

Did 5 washloads, and it nearly all dried nicely on the line today in the sun.

Aaaww, I bet it is so sweet to see your grandaughter trying to talk.

Goodnight Hicky, hope you sleep well. xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

No word at all, not what i expected, hope she has managed to get home.

It was my DIL that has the sore throat, as son said it might stop her coming for brekkie with us.

Yes yhis virus certainly has legs, i am concerned about o/h on the checkout, really worrying, if i get it i'm a goner no doubt about that.

The problem isn't so much the virus, it's what your body does in response as it has never seen it before and you body overcompensates as usual and shuts down your organs.

What i was trying to find out is, if a person is infected how soon do they become contagious, and if they are before the virus shows then we really are in trouble, it would mean someone could be passing the virus on before they even know they have it, not thats scary.

At least you got a walk down the seafront with the dog, and nice getting food from the takeaway via daughter.

Yes, i just try new ideas in food, and the belly pork cost £15, nothing wrong with the pork, that was a beautiful piece, it was the recipe that called for deep frying it after it had been boiled, it was lovely before that.

I moved the mini weather vane as well, put it in an easier place to see from the summerhouse.

I tried to order my usual pack of Kirkland toilet tissue but it's out of stock, except for Ebay but the price is double.

O/h said most of the shelves in Sainsbury's have been cleaned out, even my multipacks of Maltesers had gone so she had to get a box, in the little pack you get 11 Maltesers so with the box i'll have to count them out.

The granddaughter in Oz will come on so well because of the Nursery she attends during the day, it's like a school for early learning, and she is coming on so well.

Reading your second post, what green stripe, mind you i can't see colour, where is it? and what does it signify.

Have a good evening and weekend.

Hicky

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky Sorry I've not been in for a couple of days ....my op was cancelled for the 4 th time on Thursday and to say I was gutted is an understatement! I was so upset I couldn’t even face the forum .....It’s supposedly rescheduled for Tuesday , but I’ve just heard that might not even go ahead ! I have already penned a letter of complaint ....all I need to do is hit send ! Luckily I have a friend who is a nurse here so I will no exactly where to send it !

Mollie , did you watch Gogglebox ....Jenny and Lee crack  me up  No DOI tomorrow either Hicky , yes , this virus is worrying ....but I can’t help but feel that everyone is  being whipped up into a frenzy ....at this rate the panic will be worse than the disease !

Anyway , I will try and pop in every couple of days ...and when / if the op ever happens Yogi will give you a bulletin Take care both , and I will catch up properly at some point

Baz

Evening Baz.

Lovely to hear from you, had a feeling your op had been cancelled, i understand how upset you would be, but with the many problems facing us these days, it's all down to priorities, urgencies, worrying times.

I don't think sending a letter would help, those at the top have to make these decisions and life and death cases take priority, hope they are free next week, but with this Covid-19 anything can happen.

I don't know about everyone being whipped up into a frenzy, i am scared to death, if i get it i am as good as dead, is that serious, it is too me, how do i stay safe, thats not easy because there are a lot of unanswered questions which really means i don't know who has it or what they have touched, i wear the disposable gloves to go out, they have told us we don't need masks but if someone coughed into the air the virus is floating around looking for somewhere to land, without a mask it could go on my face, it could also go on my cloths and stay active for 24 hrs, i have 3 appointments in the next 7 days and am worried about them.

Hope you op goes ahead as soon as possible and only post when you feel up to it.

Keep well, stay safe and remember, there is always someone worse off than ourselves.

They have cancelled my 1st 4 F1 meetings, so struggling finding stuff to watch now. the australian race was tomorrow.

Hicky

Baz xxx

Good to hear from you. I am so sorry to hear you are still stuck with no op in sight yet. Let's hope it can get done next week.

Yes Gogglebox was so funny again. Jenny and Lea are my faves too.

Hicky

yes things are extremely scary right now. Is it worth you postponing your appointments?

I am scared still to even go for a food shop.

Not easy for your OH working with the public. Do they supply your OH with hand gel or gloves?

The stripe is down the left hand margin ater we submit our post.

Didn't go out today, weather not good, and didn't want to mix with anyone.

Watched Ant and Dec and The Voice.

Goodnight Hicky x

Thinking of you Baz x

M

Evening Mollie.

Not too bad today 11c some light rain and sun a fresh breeze.

Didn't have brekkie so at midday i had a Piccalilli sandwich, so nice.

For tea i had a corn on the cob, then a portion of roasted chicken wings then a ham salad, remembered the ham but forgot the cheese.

Spent some time in the summerhouse, put some growmore over the raised beds prior to further planting.

I need to spray all the trees and vones with neem all tomorrow if i get the time.

I will see if they cancel any of my appointments, i have the foot one, dentist and eye clinic.

Yes, o/h gets hand gel etc for work, hope its good enough.

Whats the stripe for, any idea, to me its just a line of course.

Yes, i watched Ant and the Voice.

Goodnight, sleep well.

Hicky

Evening All.

Not bad here today with 11c sunny intervals and a fresh breeze.

Had a video call from Oz, great to see and talk to them all.

Had sausages, bacon and tinned toms for brekkie, with toast.

Sprayed the trees and vines with neem oil today.

For tea boiled some salad spuds and sliced some cabbage, made some gravy and had a pork steak, nice.

Going to have some Kiwi fruit and a banana for afters.

I have been having coffee bkack but tried it with some milk powder as i have a couple of packs of that, i mix the coffee and milk powder first then add a little hot water and stir well, then add more water, it's quite nice.

Have a good evening.

Hicky

Thinking of you Baz. xxx Hope they can sort your op out soon.

Hicky

thats good the weather was ok for you to get things done in the garden today.

Those salad potatoes are really nice boiled.

I made cheese pie with left over mash from the roast dinner the other day, with sprouts, carrots and peas, with a bit of Phylly cheese and cranberry sauce on the side for extra taste. Do you like Phylly Hicky? I use it quite a lot. Daughter made a delicous lemon drizzle for me for pudding. Your mix of fruit sounds really healthy, but tasty too.

The milk powder in the coffee sounds good.

Hope the forecast for tommorrow is correct because if so, we are due sun! Hooray!

Just did some washing today then took dog a little walk. OH popped to little local tesco before 8am whilst it was quiet for bread and milk.

Watching Race Across the World, then Good Karma Hospital. (I will think of Emptybox, as he always watched that too).

Hicky...can you please give me the link to the rice maker you got? I seem to recall the 1st one you got wasn't much good, but the next one was. Son makes a lot of rice, so fancies one to make life easier. Cooking for 5 for him, can get tiresome when we want different menus.

Have a good evening xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

I just get the salad spuds as they are very cheap and so easy to peal with the machine and quick to boil, they can be roasted and in the garage they seem to keep fine.

I like Phylly don't buy it as i have various cheeses in stock all the time anyway.

I just get what fruit looks inviting, enough for the week.

The forecast here tomorrow is 11c sunny with a moderate breeze, that will do me.

Good idea to for your lad to pop out early, best thing to do.

The rice cooker i settled on is pretty small, i do about 80g of dry basmati rice, plenty for me, but you can double up on that i think, i usually rinse the rice in the cooker pan first, empty water out then add equal amount of water, you could add a little more, this is mine.

Hicky

Hicky

thank you for putting your rice cooker details up so quickly.

I am tempted to buy a potato peeler too, as it takes son ages to peel for 5 people, plus a few for the dog. Does the machine take enough peel off to make good mash?

Enjoy the sun tomorrow, we need it with all the awful news around right now.

Goodnight xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

The spud peeler really grates the skin off, if the spud eyes are recessed then of course you would either have to take them out first or later or let the machine run longer which would take more potato off of course.

All the machines have a maximum weight per use, but of course as it only takes a few minutes you could just put more spuds in and turn it on.

Similar to the rice cooker, if you need more reload it, it only takes 15 minutes.

I only got a cheap machine, there are so many.

They have safety features and you usually need to get the top section fitted to the bottom correctly or it won't turn on of course.

Sleep tight.

Hicky

Evening All.

Hope you are comfy Baz, is your op scheduled or have you had it, hope so, you will be going crazy if still stuck in hospital.

Quite nice today with 11c and sunny intervals with a moderate breeze.

Didn't do a lot today, didn't have brekkie, sat in the summerhouse, found the 5L spray gun wasn't holding the pressure so set about sorting that out.

By 2pm i was feeling hungry so made a cheese sandwich and put dome chilly pickle on it, that woke me up.

For tea picked a tub of left over Bolognese sauce with mince from the freezer stock and made a pot of boiled rice.

This virus Covid-19 is pretty scary, wow, it's bringing the country to a standstill, couldn't even get a home delivery from Sainsbury's this morning, just a test, no chance.

Fancy being isolated with a stack of food, how awful, i can't stop eating as it is.

Have a good evening.

Hi Mollie and HickyHope you are both doing ok . Life is pretty grim here . Corona death in the hospital ..no more visitors ...op supposedly scheduled for tomorrow ...then home to quarantine alone ....goodness knows how I’m going to manage ....but not a lot of choice . Sorry it’s such a miserable post , but tbh I’m s..t scared right now ...talk about devil and deep blue sea . I hope you and yours are faring better

Evening Baz.

It's an awful situation all round, hope you can get your operation, they may have to keep you in if you can't manage alone at home, think the country will soon be in lockdown.

And this virus problem isn't going to go anytime soon.

Keep your spirit up, every problem has an answer, it's just finding it.

Hope all goes well with your Op.

Hi Hicky  x

Good idea to sit in your summerhouse today, and to have a nice sandwich to wake you up.

We went to costco as soon as it opened. It was busy, but bearable. Got a full trolley of shopping,... in and out in 20mins,... just chucked stuff in. No cafe for us today, in fact for once no-one else was interested, only 2 people sitting on one table. A weird atmosphere everywhere.

Not going out now unless it is absolutely necessary. Son didn't go to rehearsals, but he said theatre show will probably be cancelled anyway.

Worrying time for all and awful for poor Baz.

Let's hope tv has some decent shows as a bit of a distraction for us all. And we need good weather to get outside too. Let's hope the weather is good when she comes home so she can sit in her garden. her plants should be out now.

Goodnight Hicky. xxx

Aaaww Baz, you poor thing.

I so feel for you still stuck there and waiting for the op. Let's hope it does get sorted tomorrow.

Even though you will be glad to be back home, I know it will be very hard for you. especially in isolation.

Thank you for thinking to post to Hicky and I, we are thinking about you.

Evening Mollie.

Good idea to go to Costco early, glad you could get a good shop in.

Yes, eating in store is probably not a good idea, go in and get out is whats needed.

With people being advised not to gather, not to go to restaurants and bars, its going to be impossible for companies to exist surely.

Yes, it's rotten for Baz, still waiting for her Op, heaven knows how she will manage home alone.

Goodnight, sleep tight.

Hicky

Evening Everyone.

Hope you had your Op Baz, at least it would mean you could move on, difficult as it may be.

Hope you are ok Mollie as well, worrying times.

I have cancelled my brekkie out with my lad in the morning.

I won't be going to the farm shop tomorrow either, can't take a chance.

O/h going to try and find a shop with some bread, butter etc in the morning.

At work today when she looked at the shelves they were empty.

Had tomato and toast to use up half a tin of tomato.

For tea i made prawn fried rice, i boiled the rice first then froze it, i fried the prawns, then onion, added peas, sliced green chilli, eggs, then put the frozen rice in the micro, added soy sauce, chilli sauce the once mixed, plated and had cucumber, sliced spring onions sprinkled over it, nom nom.

Had spent some time in the summerhouse but the afternoon had clouded over.

I think i will be spending a lot more time in the summerhouse, glad it's spring in a couple of days, Friday.

Have a good evening all.

Hicky
