Afternoon Mollie and Hicky  It’s too darn hot !

My day didn’t go exactly as planned ....I was going to go out in the garden and plant the rest of the bulbs , but before I did I thought I’d change the bed ...which of course entailed more washing and ironing ! Then after I finished doing that I went to grab a banana only to find they all had split skins ....and I won’t eat them once that happens ! So, as I have one every day without fail....and there are no buses from this evening until Tuesday ..... I had to slap on the factor 50 and schlep into town and buy some more ...

Hicky , I only have two more weeks to go because the volunteering I’m doing is for a kids Summer Reading  project ....and it finishes once they go back to school . Anyway , I hope you are both having a good day.

Baz

Evening Baz.)

Rather nive today with 26c sunny and a gentle breeze.

Had bacon egg and beans for brekkie.

Gave my right hand  neighbour a bunch of grapes and a cucumber.

Pulled some Showmaster big onions up, gave 6 to the neighbour the other side of me with a bunch of grapes, gave o/h a bunch and had a bunch myself.

For tea i had 2 bowls of mushroom soup then made a stirfry which i had with rice.

I keep my banana's in the fridge, they go black but it doesn't make them taste different, i try to have one every day, also Nectarines, just love them.

I can only assume they split the skins when they are overripe,

Wouldn't have thought this lovely weather was best for changing bedding, you should be out getting Vitamin D in the garden.

At least it got you to town for a break.

Oh, forgot it was with the children at the Library.

This is showing 6 of the 27 i have of the onions.

Showmaster Onions
Showmaster Onions.

Have a good Night.

Hope Mollie is enjoying her New Quay trip, and caravan.

Evening Mollie & Baz.

Rather nice today, 25c sunny with a gentle breeze.

Had a Skype with family in Oz, little one coming on well.

Had eggs on toast for brekkie, picked the rest of the peas, can cut the plants down now.

Tried my new Potato peeling machine with some of my small new potatoes i grew, wow, very pleased, wish i could clean them line that in a couple of minutes.

I boiled them so i could have some with my tea, the rest will do in the week, i steamed some of my fresh peas and some cauliflower, cooked 4 chops in the oven, they were the best i've ever had, the beauty of buying straight from the butcher, much better than from a supermarket really.

O/H was doing some cleaning of the front steps and the drive with the jet washer, we have 4 sockets in the porch and a water tap at the side of the front door which is handy, also got one in the back but i use that for the watering system.

Hope you both have had a good day and have a good night.

Baz

Glad you enjoyed the spa day.

Hope your daughter has a good holiday and you don't miss her too much.I take it she has gone to the States?

Yes I can understand you will really miss it when its over, but it's good you at least have a couple of volunteer days left whilst your daughter is away. Is there anything else you might like to volunteer for as this one has gone so well?

Oh dear about the bananas preventing your bulb planting, and not nice having no buses so you had to walk to get them, especially as it was so hot! How odd your last lot all had split skins.

Hicky

those onions in your photo are certainly looking healthy.

Have you eaten any of the figs yet?

I bet your neighbour was pleased to see you with your produce gifts for her.

We had a lovely couple of days thanks.

We went on a boat trip in Newquay, unfortunately the dolphins chose not to show, but we did see a seal and some cormorants, some huge jellyfish, and lobsters. The guys doing the trip were marine biologist so told us lots of interesing stuff. My daughter held the lobster before they returned it to the sea. I never knew lobsters grew to 6 feet, and lived for 120 years! He said they have no preditors when they are fully grown like that.

We went to a shell shop and daughter bought a box of pick and mix pretty shells. She likes making things, so will use it to make something.

The caravan was fairly old but clean, the only thing was the people who the owner paid to make the beds up hadn't done it properly, and only 2 single beds were made up. We found a new quilt cover in the cupboard, so used that, and OH slept on the sofa fully clothed. I expected something to go wrong as it was peak season, and a cheap caravan. But we only wanted to sleep there. The B and B's cost 3 times as much.

Yesterday we went to Aberystwyth. We caught the cable car train up the cliff and the views were stunning. You could see fully round you 360 degrees, covering 1000 square miles. We went into the camera room to see this too. Here it is..

http://www.aberystwythcliffrailway.co.uk/

It was very hot, so we took our time and stopped for ice cream as we walked down the seafront. Because we headed West into Wales instead of East over the bridge to England we missed the huge traffic jams they had going towards Devon/Cornwall, so we chose right going that way instead, as the roads were quiet, even though the coastal towns were quite busy. It took us less than 2 hours to get to Newquay. We had never been to mid Wales before, so didn't realise how lovely the coast and views were there. Not a lot to do if you live there though, its very rural.

Not much on tv tonight, think I will watch that new series on itv called Sanderton by Jayne Austen.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky Wow Hicky , those are some onions  Sorry the caravan wasn’t up to much , but glad you had a nice time anyway ....and the cliff railway sounds fantastic .

Its cooler here today ...which suits me fine I’ve spent the day catching up on the housework,  cos I’ve got some of the Darnies visiting tomorrow...which will be lovely  Apart from that I’ve not done a lot , and what I have done I’ve done gingerly cos I strained my back last night ! Not much on TV tonight , but Bake Off is back on Tuesday ....Masterchef and Strictly next week ...so bring it on

Anyway, whatever you are doing , I hope you are both having a good Monday . Take care

Baz

Evening Mollie & Baz.

Not too bad here today, 22c sunny with a gentle breeze.

Pleased with the onions, will be giving more away, always pretty hard to get them good enough to store.

Had fried sliced potatoes bacon and beans.

Took down the peas, also the strawberry plants as they are a failure, cut down another fig tree as the figs are awful.

Had a salad sandwich midday for tea had Laksa soup then a cheese & tom Pizza.

Been bitten on the back of my left ankle, yesterday, have put some insect bite cream on i brought back from Oz, called Itch Eze plus anaesthetic antiseptic cream, it started with a baby blister but it has grown to the size of a 1p coin now.

Mollie, I had a plate of figs from 1 of the new trees i bought a couple of years ago, awful so cut it down.

Someone had warned the Dolphins you were going out to see them.

Wonder what your daughter will make with the shells, they are lovely though.

A pity the caravan wasn't as expected, at least you didn't go to it for a few weeks.

I have been to Aberystwyth never went on that cable car though.

Yes, you don't want to get caught up in any Devon/Cornwall traffic.

Baz, Oh dear, how on earth have you hurt your back, you are supposed to be taking it easy.

Hope the visit goes ok.

Can't wait for some new TV programs to start.

Have a good evening both,

Hicky

oh dear Baz, sorry you have strained your back. Did you do it finishing off your bulb planting? Hope it eases soon. Glad it was cooler there today. It has been hot here all day again, but seems cooler tonight.

Yes tv not so good tonight, but have just found Celebs on the Farm, looks quite amusing.

Hope you enjoy your visitors tomorrow.

Hicky

I am sure whoever gets your onions will be well pleased.

Shame the strawberry and figs did not do well this year. But you have had success with so much other produce, you have still done well.

These damn insects when they bite us bad are such a nuisance, especially at night if is starts when you are trying to sleep. Hope the cream helps and it doesn't get worse, if it does, go to docs. I had a bad bite last year, it went real nasty and had to go on antibiotics, it even left a scar. This year I have not gone out without using this as it puts them off....(but only for a couple of hours, so has to be reapplied)...

https://www.avon.uk.com/produc...-dry-oil-spray-150ml

I buy it from amazon. I remember years ago I sent some to Emptybox when the knats up there were bothering him. I think he always used it afterwards. (bless him).

This year, I have also been wearing one of these...you can get them from amazon

Hot again today, so got lots of washing dry. Didn't go far as I guessed the coast road would be real busy. Just visited a friend.

Baz

hope you are well and had a good day. Has the back eased now? Hope so. And hope your daughter is enjoying her hols. How long is she away?

Hicky

hope it was nice enough for you to get in your garden today.

How is the bite? Hope it has calmed down now.

We had a lovely day here today weather wise, as it was quite a bit cooler. Went down seafront for an ice cream, as we kept away bank hol as we guessed it would be packed full of people.

Had halloumi wraps for tea, I love halloumi.

Great to see Bake Off back again.

Looks like we have some real characters this year.

Evening Mollie & Baz.

Only 21c today with sunny intervals and a gentle breeze.

Had fried souds with beans for brekkie.

Bite about the same, big blisters, o/h asked pharmacist and she said just leave it but if blister bursts then cover with a plaster, if the surround turns red see the doctor.

It looked like rain this afternoon so put onions into the gazebo on one of the big benches.

Had a salad sandwich at 2pm for tea i thought i would have some hot & sour soup with a stuffed chicken breast with some curry paste inside between the chicken and the sausage meat, wrapped it in bacon, messed up really, as the curry paste is concentrated.

Picked an apple from one of the trees, some ripen late August, some september and the rest October.

I did a bit of tidying of the raised beds now some of the growth has been binned.

I had some anti insect sprays but left them in Oz,

That link is just a spray for dry skin, not an insect repellant, i've got tons of that.

I don't know if it was a Mossy bite or not, it's better than when i was in Cairns / that island i went to, i couldn't count the bites and they multiplied day by day, but i was the only one that got bitten, but i never saw anything biting that was the strange thing, i think it was being on the scooter that did it, possibly.

Hope all is well Baz and your back is feeling a lot better.

I see Strictly was launched yesterday on BBC1, i missed it, couldn't find it on BBC i player though, just saw still on the web.

Hicky

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky  Thought I would pop in and say hi before any shut down Hope you are both  having a good day . It’s been raining here , but that’s ok by me  I had a really lovely time with the Darnies yesterday I had an email from my daughter last night.....sounds like they are having a good time ....although sounds like the weather hasn’t been great .

Love the photo Hicky ....is that Llandudno...or Aber  ? That  bite sound awful  Hope it settles down soon . Mollie , I don’t think the actual launch is on TV until the 7th .....although I think they’ve  had a launch in London ...which I saw something about either on the news or FB ?I enjoyed Bake Off , but wish there was a bit  more of an age mix this year .

Anyway , I hope you both have a good evening . Take care

Baz

Evening Mollie & Baz.
Only 17c today with light rain this morning and sunny intervals this afternoon, a gentle breeze as well.
Had 3 eggs on toast for brekkie.
My Crocodile belt came today, it's fantastic, it doesn't have holes in the belt for a pin it has a sort of internal clamp in the buckle, love it, it has the ridges of the back of the croc.
I had a fig i found on my last Fig tree, it's a Brown Turkey, think they are the best Figs.
Had a bowl of Jellied eels at 5pm then had a lamb tikka masala with fried rice for tea.

Couldn't get on Gaga before, it said come back as it was upgrading or something.

Getting my list of stuff to take with me Tuesday when we go to Suffolk.

That picture i took from the link Mollie posted, it's Aber.....

Glad you have heard from your daughter, don't you chat on Skype? or some other media?

Yes, they had a London launch to show the Celebs and the Pros, but i missed it.

Just watching the Repair Shop, they are so clever.

Hope all is well Mollie.

Hicky

Baz and Hicky

Baz

glad you had a good time with the Darnies, (who is the Darnies?) and that's nice you have heard from your daughter.

Yes I too enjoyed Bake Off, but as you say, most of them do seem very young this year. I liked the birthday cakes.

Hicky

hope the bite settles now.

Not long until you are of to Suffolk now. HOpe the weather is ok for your tirp. How long does it take you get there on the train? Are you being picked up at the station?

Sounds like you are about to get a lot of apples soon.

I managed to get on gaga ok, so they must of finished the update when I came on.

Oh yes, I see the pic is of Aberystwyth.

I too saw the Repair shop, as you say, they are all clever, I liked the card duck toy today.

We too got some rain today, a change from being hot and stuffy. I expect all the weeds will grow extra quick now.

We had a voucher for 2 carvaries for £12, so off we went to the Toby for tea. Me and daughter had the veggie option, Brie and broccil bake and veggie toad in the hole, with all the help yourself veg you can eat. OH and son had turkey and veg.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Evening Mollie & Baz.

20c with sunny intervals and a fresh breeze.

Had 3 eggs on toast for brekkie as i had 6 left from the 15 pack i get each week.

I decided on making a beef stew today so got 2 packs of stewing steak from the freezer and a big dish of mixed veg and a bowl of potatoes to put in the scraper machine, made a beef stock, cooked it all in the oven as it's a lot cheaper than the hob, meat first then veg, then potatoes and more onions, thickened it with whitewash, which is a flour and water, plain flour, had one portion, will make a few freezer portions as there seems a lot, might need more spuds though, plenty in the garage, used some of my own onions as well.

Didn't do much in the garden, have set up my Tablet so i don't have to take the Laptop, it's rather big and heavy with it's 17" screen.

The train journey is around 4 hours to the stop we are getting off at as BIL is picking us up.

These first apples have pink flesh which is strange.

In the Repair shop, what they can do is amazing, loved the Duck, i think it should be able to pick the card up and drop it though, somehow.

Don't blame you for going for a carvery, i would if i had a voucher as well, you could fill your boots with all the veg they lay on.

I used to like going for the brekkie as you could have as much bacon and eggs as you wanted.

Looking forward to Strictly starting, i think it is very hard to get celebs to join up, and the older ones know they are just fodder to be made a fool of as in the past so i doubt if they can talk celebs into joining for that reason as they take themselves too serious.

Hope Baz managed to get in the garden to plant the rest of the flowers.

Have a good evening.

Hicky

Baz and Hicky

Baz

hope you are well and had a good day.

Hicky

I am not surprised your lappy is heavy if its 17 inch, so a good idea to set up your tablet. I use a lappy, but it is quite small.

Your potato peeler sounds like it is coming in useful. Think I might be tempted to get one. If we have potatoes,.... being 5 of us, we would need quite a lot. How much can it peel or do just add them in as you go along?

A 4 hour train journey as you don't need to change trains should be nice and relazing, especially as you know you are being picked up the other end. How long are you staying?

It was wet here this morning, so did some paperwork, then later it cleared up, so got the washing out, then we went walk down seafront. Had chips on the bench. Delicious. Always tastes nicer eating chips outdoors.

Watched Fake or Fortune, now watching the Millionair under cover in a school.

Goodnight both xxx

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky  I went to the spa yesterday .....did my volunteering stint this morning....paid a bill....picked up part of my son’s birthday present ...came home and changed the bed ....now I am cream crackeredI have to pop into town tomorrow to post my sons present ...then I can relax

I hope you are both having a good day . Mollie , the Darnies are what’s left of the Darnell ( bb ) Appreciation thread  I used to love the Toby Carvery , but sadly we don’t have one around here any more. Hicky , hope the bite is better . I use a tablet all the time these days ....I have a 12inch one ....and a 9 inch one ( which I tend to use to read books or post in bed ....I love them .

Anyway , have a good evening ...it’s Gardeners World for me tonight

Evening Mollie & Baz.

20c today, light cloud and sunny spells with a fresh breeze.

Had 3 eggs on toast for brekkie.

My shopping arrived, didn't order much as i/m going away Tuesday.

For tea o/h gave me half a cooked chicken so used the breast for my Hot & Sour soup, added some sliced celery and sliced mushrooms, it made rather a lot so had 2 bowls and will freeze the rest will get another bowl or so.

Had the wing and leg after the soup, put some chilli vinegar and salt on,

I had ordered 2 packs of chicken wings on my shopping so divided them into 4 bags for freezing, nice.

Mollie, We took the big heavy lappy when we went to Oz, i use the Tesco HUDL Tablet when i was in hospital as it was handy to get online, i don't use it at home, i can take lovely pictures and print direct at home.

With this electric potato peeler you can put up to 1 KG in at a time, you aren't supposed to leave it on for more than 4 minutes, my potatoes are done by 3 minutes anyway, i think it will be used a lot now as it's so easy to peel the spuds.

We are only staying away for 3 nights and the weather look reasonable for the time we are there, we are going to the town of Barnardiston.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2656304

That was nice, going down to the seaside is always good, and fish and chips a bonus.

Need to make some more Shrtbread biscuits, have run out.

Baz, You have been busy, Spa, volunteering, shopping,

My Tablet seems to measure 9" corner to corner, handy but not too big.

The bite hasn't changed for a few days, the blister is still there, it must be about 4cm diameter, it isn't sore or itchy now which is good and of course with me having short pants in the summer and not wearing socks it is uncovered all day and night, i show it to o/h now and again to make sure it's not infected as with my eyes i can't tell anything, she says i spill coffee etc on the laminate flooring but of course i can't see anything, in fact my eyes are going worse, not close work so much but with the AMD and the Cataracts the central vision seems to be missing and outside the light blurs back at me,

I've got the F1 at 6 om tomorrow and 7pm Sunday from Belgium, love Belgium had so many fantastic weeks there, lovely people and great food, si,ple food but very tasty, I was mainly in Hasselt.

https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/...vince-Vacations.html

239 Restaurants, 11 Hotels, 43 nthings to do, and Festivals i was there for one in July a some years ago, it was fantastic, it really is worth a visit, one of the best places i have ever stayed.

Have a good evening Both.

Baz

you did have a busy day yesterday. Hope you managed to get into town ok to post the pressie.

I thought the Darneys might be something to do with the Darnell thread. Gosh you have been going some years with that one and the other forumers.

Hicky

I have never heard of Barnardiiston. Hope you have a lovely time and the forecast is right for the reasonable weather.

Hopefully that is a good sign the bite is on its way out if its no longer sore or itchy.

Sorry to hear your eyes are getting worse, hope your eyes are ok next time the cateract op is due.

Interesting that you liked that part of Belgium so much. You must of been spoilt for choice with 239 resteraunts there!

Not a bad day today. Only slight drizzle now and again, and quite warm.

We went for a viewing at auction today, lots of German stuff again.

Not much on tv again, just watching some show about Cruises.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Evening Mollie & Baz.

Cooler today at 17c with light rain showers and sunny intervals with a fresh breeze.

Had bacon and beans with an egg for brekkie.

Made some more shortbread biscuits as i had run out.

Did a bit more tidying in the garden while the weather was dry.

For tea i had Mushroom soup and Cod fingers on sandwiches.

Just watching F1 Poll position highlights on C4.

The area is Haverhill in Suffolk where we are going.

The bite hasn't really bothered me at all but the blister is so big still, hopefully the skin underneath is growing, thats the main thing.

My left eye is quite worrying, not sure if they will operate with this problem coming back, but the eye clinic didn't ask me to go back in for injections so i don't know.

I need both cataracts doing as soon as possible really as my sight is going worse, i'm ok reading though.

I remember while in Hasselt, there was one pub which sold 250 types of beer and everyone has it's own glass, one had a glass that went in a type of box for support but the base was round so you couldn't put it down, some of the glasses are beautiful, really worth having so we used to buy them from the supermarket on the way home, i remember telling you some time ago.

German engineering is top notch but their programming logic software was an absolute nightmare.

Hope you had a good day Baz, did you get in the garden, if i do anything in the garden for 5 minutes i then have to rest for 10 minutes to get my breath back.

Have a good night both.

hope you had a good day today. Did you manage to get out and about?

Hicky

that's good you could get in the garden today.

As it is so important you get those cataracts done asap, I wonder whether you should ask advice from the hospital or doc about that left eye? Just incase you do need to go back for injections.

Hasselt certainly had a wide choice of beers. Do you have any of those glasses now?

Nice to see BGT on tonight.

Felt rough all day with the arthritis yesterday. Just couldn't get comfy, but have had a better day today as the day wore on.

The weather was better today too.Had some rain in the morning, then nice and bright this afternoon.
Went to visit mum's ex carer and her kiddies, they had great fun in the seaside arcade with us and  spending the tickets we had won with my daughter over the weeks. They took ages putting over  3500 tickets in the counting machine, and still had 1000 left. at first the kiddies thought they would be able to buy a PS4 with them as there were so many,   but no chance of that...they ended up getting sweeties, a toy gun with a plastic sheriff's badge and a light up mini guitar.  A PS4 would of probable been about 100,000 tickets! They were thrilled with what they got in the end though.

Goodnight both xxx

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky Hope you’ve both had a good weekend . Sorry your arthritis is playing up though Mollie Hope it’s a bit better today ...and lol at the kiddies ...I bet they loved it . Hicky, hope the eye problem doesn’t hold up your cataract op

I was feeling quite low today , so I’ve thrown myself into the housework and the garden ....although like you Hicky , I can only do so much without a sit down  But I’ve done two loads of washing and ironing , dusted, hoovered , and done some tidying up in the back garden cos it’s garden waste bin this week , so thought I’d fill it up

Anyway , I hope you have a good evening . TV is definitely improving over the next 7 days ...Bake Off , Masterchef , Strictly , and the Island ....bring it on Take care

Baz

Evening Mollie & Baz.

Only 16c here today, with sunny intervals and a fresh breeze.

went out for brekkie, very nice, went to Hoylake, i get a 7" plate, you get bacon egg, sausage, black pud, beans, mushrooms tomato hashbrown and toast, 2 meals with a pot of tea for 2 is £14,

Did a bit more in the garden, some planning for next year, will be using the old tree tubs for veg i think, going to scrap the pear trees as their usefull-ness has come to an end, they are struggling, the leaves are in a mess, they need repotting every 3 years and i can't do that, with Fig trees you are supposed to trim 3" off the underside and all round then repot back in the same pot with new compost.

Had a video link this morning with my lad and his family in Oz, only for 20 minutes or so.

For tea decided on a couple of burgers with onions but without the buns.

Mollie, I did mention the last eye clinic visit about my left eye, nothing was done and i didn't even need to see the eye doctor while i was there, so i am a bit scared to ring them in case i change their mind, i think they will probably check my eye anyway when i go to the hospital, i don't want to jeopardise the op myself.

I dumped all the fantstic glasses when i move house, i dumped most stuff or left it for the ones taking over, if you remember i left all the TV's all the kitchen, the Salamander electric grill, it was a professional one, left all the fridges, it was all just too much to move.

Glad you had a better day, that Arthritis sure is a pain.

That was lovely going with the kiddies to the seafront arcade, they sure love that, and spending the tokens.

It would take a lot to save 100,00 tokens, wow.

Baz, Yes, hope op goes ahead as sight is not good and left is worse that was why eye doc suggested doing the left first which leaves the best one for later.

Sorry to hear you were feeling low, but don't do too much, take it easy you will just wear yourself out, there's always the next day, you need something to occupy your mind without wearing you out.

Garden wast bin day Wednesday, going to ask my neighbour if he'll put it out for me, household rubbish bin also.

Yes, the TV should be improving from now on, i suppose all the system has been on holiday and are back now.

Have a good evening both.

Aaaww sorry you had a "feeling low" day,  but you are bound to be feeling like this now and again, as it is still early days since your loss and especially right now with your daughter away on holiday. You are doing so well though, as you made the effort to do the voluntary work, and enjoyed it. In addition to those regular visits you make to the spa too. Have you finished your blulb planting for the spring now?

Yes summer hols time over now, so we can look forward to all the new autumn tv shows to enjoy.

Hicky

how nice you got out for brekkie, sounds like a bargain too. and its good the weather was ok for you to get in the garden too.

Yes lets hope they do agree you are ok for the op. Not nice having eye problems.

I expect you will be busy sorting your suitcases for Tuesday tomorrow.

Are you getting a taxi to the station?

In case you don't get chance to post tomorrow, hope you have an enjoyable time and a good journey.

We went to costo this morning and had my usual lunch of jacket potato, beans, cheese, for £1.50, can't beat it.

Then sat in garden with my book on the swing chair as it was so warm today.

Son and OH have made one of the doors for the new shed we bought with the missing doors. So it is only one doorless now, instead of 2 !

Watching Antiques Roadshow now,..

Evening Mollie & Baz.

Cool today with 17c cloud and light rain showers, with a moderate breeze.

Had eggs on toast for brekkie and decided to have a takeaway for tea, delivered of course.

Have been collecting stuff together and locking things up

Ordered the taxi for the morning to the station.

Asked my neighbour if he would put my wheelie bins out Wednesday so thats sorted.

Always a problem packing for a trip away, even if it's only a short one.

My eye op isn't till i get back anyway, so i'll worry then.

You can't beat costco for your food thats for sure,

I had a swing also but we moved it when i had a leek to repair so now in the afternoon it's in the shade, will have to move it.

Thats good, what wood did o/h use to make the new door for the bin store?

The tv should be getting better soon, not keen on that C4 program bringing back all the previous winners etc, it doesn't work, i don't want to watch old acts rerun.

Celeb Masterchef on tonight at 9pm so thats good.

Baz, hope you had a better day today, did you manage to get in the garden?

Have a good evening Both.

I'll try and post tomorrow on my tablet if i can get Wifi.

nice treat for you to have a takeaway for tea for a change, especially as you have been busy sorting things ready for going away. Yes always a nuisance packing to go away.

OH put 9mm hardwood ply wood on for his shed door, the thicker one was more expensive and heavier. It is held in place with the metal frame already there. He is going to paint and waterproof it next.

I hope you have an enjoyable journey tomorrow and a lovely break. Look forward to hearing all about it.

Hope you had a good day Baz.

It was a bit drizzly here today, but managed to nearly dry the clothes inbetween the showers.

Other than taking dog a quick walk, didn't go out today.

Aaww, such a difficult time for you, clearing MrB's clothes.    That is good your daughter can come tomorrow to help you take them to the charity shop. Did she have a good holiday?

What a pity you only have a couple more counselling sessions left. But you have done well going to them.

Bake Off was really good, wasn't it?

I missed the Tower of London programme, but sounds interesting.

Arthritis not so bad today, but I have taken it easy today, not been out, just did some paperwork and washing today.

I hope Hicky had a good train journey and enjoys his time away in Suffolk.

Goodnight Baz xxx

and HIcky if you manage to call in.

hope you are well today. Did you manage to go with your daughter to the charity shop?

Hicky

Lovely to see you call in.

Oh dear about the tablets, that doesn't sound so good.

Glad to hear you are staying with a good cook, a decent supply of food is always a nice thing to have.

I bet you will enjoy your crab meal tonight.

What a horrible thing that horse fly is to do that to you! They do take a long time to go away though.

Not a bad day here today, just a few light showers.

Friend came for coffee and her fave cheese and tomato on toast.

Then me and daughter went to visit a friend who my daughter is steam stripping her dining room wallpaper for. She is elderly and uses crutches so can't manage it herself.

Son made me halloumi wraps for tea. The halloumin from costco is so tasty.

Hope you enjoy the rest of your break HIcky.

Goodnight both xxx

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky  Hope everyone is well . I’ve just got back from my spa hour ....it included a Indian head massage , so right now my hair looks awful , but I’m feeling no pain

Mollie, yes I got to the charity shop . Right person went on Bake Off I think Do either of you watch the Island ....if so , it starts at 9 this Sunday....and Gogglebox week tomorrow  But I think that might have been  the last GPs Behind Closed Doors last night....it certainly not on next week   Hicky , I hope you are having a nice time , in spite of the bite and the tablets.

Have a good evening both ...take care

Baz

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky  Hope you’re both having a good day ....and Hicky is still enjoying his holiday . Strictly starts tomorrow , so something to look forward to.

I’ve just done my last volunteering stint ....I’m shattered , but I’ll miss it But I’ve emailed the coordinator to say I enjoyed it and asked to be considered if anything else comes up, so... But  , I’ve bought myself some sugar ring doughnuts to console myself

Anyway , I hope you both have a good evening , whatever you’re doing

Aaaww that is very sad that your volunteer job has come to an end, but brilliant that you managed to do it and enjoy it. I don't blame you choosing you to console yourself with some sugar do-nuts. Yum, yum.

Glad to hear you enjoyed your Indian head massage too.

That's good Strictly starts tomorrow.

Hope Hicky is well and enjoying his break, not sure when he is due back.

Not a bad day here today in the end, although it started off very wet.

Went to Cardiff to get some going out trousers to go with my red/gold sparkly top I bought awhile ago because we are going to a premier night on Sunday where they premier the films we were extras in. Cringe time I expect, (that's if we can even spot ourselves!).   Then called into costco on way home for a cheap tea and a bit of food shopping.

I dog sat for neighbours dog last night as they went out... he enjoys me going as he hates to be alone when she goes out, especially as I give him treats of chicken breast.

I am going to watch a new comedy on bbc1 tonight called Scarborough.

have a good evening Baz.

Hope to see you soon after your hols Hicky and that you had a good time. xxx

Evening Mollie & Baz.

Had a lovely time away, it was a super bungalow and BIL is a great host and cook, it has 2 bathrooms etc, 3 gardens, we went to Bury St Edmund's Market on Wednesday and Pinmill yesterday to the Boathouse moorings and had a lovely fish and chips.

I don't fancy being on a houseboat in a storm.

I will post a pic here before i go.

Quite a few apples and pears on the ground, had some strong winds.

Not keen on 4 hr train journeys, but not keen on 4 hr car journeys either.

Mollie, Get you, going to a premier night opening, hope your part is shown.

Dont blame you going to costco for a meal, why not.

Baz, Yes, looking forward to Strictly, pity you volunteering is over, can't be helped, sugar ring doughnuts sound just the job.

Never had a head massage, don't think i'll be getting one either.

I'm a bit tired, could be the train journey

hope you are well today. Did you get out today?

Hicky

thank you for the nice holiday photo. So pleased to hear you had a lovely time away.

Sounds like you got to visit a few places, and so handy to stay with someone who is not only a great host but a great cook too.

Not surprised you are feeling tired after the long train journey , plus you have been qute busy whilst away.

Not a bad day here today weather wise. It was the Cats Home open day and we went and bought some home made cakes from there , they are always delicious, and had a look at the poor cats looking for homes. (we aren't thinking of getting a cat, but like to support them, as they are volunteers).

Not a bad day today weather wise, some cloud but a bit of sun too.

Watching Strictly now, then going to watch Britains Got Talent.

Have a good evening both xxx

Evening Mollie & Baz.

17c here with sunny intervals and a moderate breeze.

Had a bit of a lay in, needed it, we went to the farm for some fruit etc, and a nice piece of meat for my sunday roast and 4 more lamb chops, they have such fantastic fruit and veg from the farm is so good.

Had a smoked bacon and egg on toast for brekkie, yummy.

My nrighbour had let part of her washing from her walking aid with basket so i went round to help her as she just gets dizzy and falls, also her aid didn't have brakes working so i sorted that for her.

Just had salmon salad sandwiches for tea, just love salad cream.

Watching F1 highlights, recorded Strictly will watch that in a minute.

Hope you are all having a good weekend.

Just seen your post Mollie.

You were posting as i was typing, yes, had a lovely time, never understood why people have cats, you don't have any control of them so whats the point, most houses stink when they move house as cats wee anywhere they are, and bring home presents, mice birds rabbits, wow, how do you cope with that.

Ha Ha, good on you for supporting the charity, i just don't see what the draw is.

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky  Hope you’re all having a good Sunday . Mine has been great , either emotionally or physically.....I’ve slept really badly the last couple of nights .....but I’m feeling a bit better now . Consequently I’ve not done a lot today , but I did do a bit of pruning , and some washing and ironing ...so not a total waste of a day .

Hope you both enjoyed Strictly Mollie , oooooo....I hope you can spot yourself in the film  I think the right two went on Masterchef on Friday  Hicky , welcome back ...glad you had a nice break I actually prefer cats to dogs ....we always had one when the kids were at home  ( amid a menagerie of other small animals ) and in fact I’m thinking of getting another one to keep me company now

Anyway , I hope you both have a good evening ....I’m looking forward to the new series of the Island tonight .....take care both

Evening Baz.

Cool here today at 16c sunny intervals and a light wind.

Had eggs on toast for brekkie, and then made a roast dinner, had a piece of beef to cook, got some of my spuds from the garage and used the peeling machine, steamed some cauliflower to go with it, and of course some nice gravy.

My new larger bread pan arrived so will try making a larger loaf in the morning, i will try it with a kg of flour, including some wholemeal and will add some seeds.

I've never understood why people have cats, originally it was because of the mice etc but these days it is different, you can't control them, take them for walks, you have no control of were they do their business, in fact at my other place i had a beautiful grape vine and someones cat must have been weeing where the roots were and the black grapes smelt of cat wee, had to dig the whole vine up and destroy.

Not a lover of dogs either but at least there is more control over them.

Watching F1 now on C4 then the Island, i'll watch that, see how it is.

Hope Mollie enjoys here show, most people don't like to see themselves on film.

Have a good evening.

Hicky

Evening All, no-one here that i can see.

Not a very nice day here, 15c heavy rain showers that never came, saw some light rain, with a gentle breeze.

Made a big loaf this morning then had a bacon sandwich for brekkie, had a crust, very nice, it's 25% wholemeal, cut it into 3 sections to freeze 2 and eat 1, thought i would try the new bread pan, it's pretty darn big.

For tea i had a hot and sour soup from the freezer then a bowl of stew.

Have a good Evening.

Baz and Hicky

Had a busy couple of days due to Premier afternoon/night taking up a lot of my timebut hadn't forgotten you here.

Baz

Hope you have had a good day, and hope you have been contining to sleep better.

what a good idea to consider getting a cat to keep you company. There is always plenty looking for a home in the rehoming centres. At least it is a companion that is easy to look after. We have an indoor rabbit, but rabbits are quite hard work. Whilst he is clean and does use a little tray, he does tend to nibble stuff like skirting board, plaster off the walls and wires,  so OH has had to bunny proof the hallway where he likes to hop around. There is this lovely black cat who hangs around on our drive, so we give her chicken, but she is not that interested in food, she just likes company and tries to come in our house for comfort. We don't let her in though because of the rabbit and dog. She looks well looked after, but the owners much put her out in the day, so she is looking for company.

Hicky

Your home made bread looks delicious. I bet it smells so yummy when cooked so I think I'd like to eat it best whilst hot with lots of melting butter on it.

And its bread week on Bake Off tonight, so that should be interesting.

Glad to see you are still making good use of your spud peeling machine. Think I might get one too as we are starting the cooler weather, so will swop salad type meals to more meals with mash and veg.

I felt off all day yesterday, with a bad head and arthrtis playing up, after a long afternoon/evening out at the premier ceremony on Sunday. But feel passable again today after a rest yesterday and with it being such a nice day today, it was a good day to catch up with washing and sit with my book in the swingchair.

Enjoyed the premier though, so odd (cringworthy) seeing yourself on big screen.
Couln't believe it had taken us a day and half on set for the few minutes you just saw flashes of us. I looked a right idiot hobbling down the steps, but at least we had real fun filming it. Me and my friend got through lots of Heros chocs whilst in the theatre. carol Vaunderman was there presenting prizes.

Goodnight both xxx
