Good Evening Mollie & Baz.

19c today, sunny intervals (one long one) with a gentle breeze.

arrived at the docs reception, told to wait in fictional queue, lady said she would call us when the booking window opened at 08:15 so i took a seat, could only see 2 people there.

Anyway, she said could the 1st person in the queue come to reception, i waited a minute then went up hoping to be next or near that, noone else was up by the window, she asked me what i wanted, i said the doc wants to see me, they have about, they have about 5 doctors and 5 nurses on usually, anyway, got an appointment for 08:40 so went to the car to tell o/h, he said my elbow was coming on and he peeled a few pieces of skin off with some plastic tweezers, made a new prescription for another tube of cream, he checked my BP and said it was up slightly and should see one of the nurses and see what readings they get as they are usually lower, and go back to see him in 3 weeks.

O/H took me to the pharmacy to get the cream but they have to order it in, she was going to get her hair done at 10am so she dropped me at a barbers to get mine done and said get a taxi home, by the shop was a butty van, never seen this before, got a bacon and sausage on toast to take home and then ordered a taxi, had a nice brekkie in the end.

For tea i made an American Chinese Chicen Chop Suey, this recipe isn't Granpa's but very nice:

This one is by Grandpa Kitchen though:

I cleaned and cooked a few of the small new potatoes from the garden, not the Vivaldi ones, anyway, took a bit of cleaning but tasted fine.

Mollie, Wow, that was a lot of tickets to win on the machine, well done, the kiddies will have a fine time with all those.

Baz, I wonder if BB will ever come back, i do miss it after all these years of watching, even the Celebrity one would be better than none.

Loving Love Island though, only 3 weeks left to go now.

Glad your interview went well, it will be nice to meet people, good to keep your mind occupied at times like this.

Hicky

Baz

well done going for the interview and being offerred the little summer job. As you say, at least it gets you out and sounds like it should be enjoyable. They do interesting events in the schol summer holidays at our library too. When do you start?

Hicky

glad you got to see the doc eventually after all that hastle. I guess it is no surprise that your BP was up after the doc pulled some of your skin off your elbow!   Bit of a nuisance they hadn't got your cream in stock though. Good job you had chance to get a decent brekkie in.

I think my lad and OH would like that Chinese Chop suey you had for tea. Thanks for the links.

Very warm here today again, it was supposed to be only low 20's but felt hotter in the lack of  a breeze.

Went for a swim and to aquafit.

OH's nephew was working in Cardiff, so unexpectedly paid us a vist, which was very nice. OH's mum had OH late in life, so OH is similiar age to nephew and they grew up together. We went to the coast with him and we had ice creams whilst sitting on sea front. Sat in the sun on seafront till about 7,30.pm.

Am enjoying Love Island tonight.

I agree though Baz, I really miss Big Brother.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

No sun today, 18c with a smidges of rain, mainly cloud and a gentle breeze.

Had 3 fried eggs on toast for brekkie, at 2pm had a couple of salad sandwiches. for tea had the rest of last nights chop suey and added more stirfry.

Gave my neighbour on the right a bag of new potatoes for her stew she was making.

I dug up a small area of the Vivaldi potato area where the plants had died off, got quite a few nice potatoes, have put them in the garage in the dark on a bed of shredded card.

O/H picked up my new tube of cream for my elbow from the checmists in the supermarket.

Sharpened one of my rather expensive paring knives, i just hate kitchen knives with 2 bevels, they are almost impossible to sharpen, i have modified all the ones we use except this new one but i gave up trying to sharpen it with my wetstone, i don't like the drag through sharpeners as they ruin the edge of the blade so i ground the edge flat and then kust grind one bevel on the right side and leave the left side flat.

Been watching tennis most of the day when i wasn't in the greenhouse or in my manshed.

Got a lovely video from Oz of granddaughter playing peek a boo with her dad.

For the chicken stock for the chop suey i used a week mix of chicken gravy granules, it is just as easy as any stock.

Well done going for a swim and aquafit, that should keep your joints moving.

That was nice having a family visitor, and ice cream on the seafront, wow, life is good.

Loving Love Island

Hicky

Hicky

That's good you got to enjoy your chop suey again today.

I bet your neigbhour will enjoy her stew all the more for the addition of your potatoes.

Hope the new cream helps your elbow problem.

Plenty of tennis for you to watch right now.

How nice for you to get a video of your little grandaughter.

Cloudy but no rain here and quite warm, and the sun came out later in the day.

I met both of mum's ex carers in seafront cafe, whilst daughter played on the ticket machines. We had a nice talk about how they enjoyed looking after mum. One of them said she can't bear to go back in the ice cream parlour without my mum as she always took her there. Both of them have left care now, a hard job when you get too attached to clients, then lose them. Also physicially exhausting.

Enjoyed Love Island tonight.

HOpe Baz had a good day.

Goodnight both xxx

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky  How are you both? Mollie I start properly at the end of July ...but I’m going in for a trial hour on Friday  Hope your ankles isn’t be too bothersome . Hicky , I hope the cream is helping your elbow .

I’ve not done a lot today  ....just some washing and ironing Had to take an extra chill pill ....been resisting them , but ....   My daughters partner graduates today though ....and I gave him Mr Bs Gucci wallet . I found it still boxed when I was clearing out a drawer . I’ve no idea where he got it ...he  certainly never used it ... I can only think it must have been a retirement gift . Anyway , her partner  has taken it with him today , and I’m sure Mr B would have been chuffed

Anyway , hope you both have a good day and evening

Baz

Evening Mollie & Baz.

A bit warmer today at 20c with light cloud and sunn intervals, a moderate breeze.

Had sausage and tinned toms forbrekkie, midday had a salmon salad for tea had another stir fry to use the stuff up, put some prawns in it.

I dug some more potatoes up, wow very pleased, still a lot to go but the plant hasn't died yet, funny thing is, all the potatoes were planted at the same time, will leave them in the ground for now as i haven't anywhere to store them, mind you i could probably just put them on top of the others i have.

Mollie, I think i will be giving quite a lot of potatoes away as i'm not sure if they will keep to the winter in this heat, i think to make them last they need to be kept at about 4c which would probably keep them dormant.

The new cream is the same as the old cream, it was just that i had been using quite a lot with them saying put it on thick.

That was nice meeting the carers in the seafront cafe, ideal meeting place,, Ah, amazing how they get so attached to those they are caring for, hope daughter got some tickets from the machine.

On Love Island, it becomes very awkward when they swap partners as with having your ex in the house how do you get close to a new GF / BF almost impossible, not surprised Amy left she was never going to get another BF in the house.

Baz, Your trial hour Friday will be good, it will let you into the library slowly, and also let you see what is expected from you.

That was nice of you to give your Daughters Partner the Gucci Wallet, very posh, he will like that.

As you say, it could have been a gift, if he had bought it himself it would have been used i would think.

I don't do ironing, we don't buy clothes that need ironing, too much of a chore.

Looking to Love Island as usual.

Have a good night both.

Hicky

Evening Both.

21c today, some sun mainly cloud, with a moderate breeze.

Had 3 fried eggs on toast for brekkie, midday i had a crab salad on a Tiger Roll, only problem, forgot the crab, it was still on the draining board thawing out so had it after the salad, on it's own, yummy.

For tea took one of the 2 Hotpots from my freezer and thawed it them did it in the oven.

Ny box of Walkers crisps came, 24 cheeses and onion, 24 ready salted & 12 salt & vinegar, not bad for ÂĢ12.55 free del.

I took a few pictures, 2 are of the outside vine and one is the greenhouse vine,

hope you enjoy your trial work visit tomorrow. I understand it must be a difficult thing for you to do, but I think you are doing the right thing. Good luck.

Aaaww what a sweet and thoughtful graduation gift. As you say, I am sure your hubby would of been chuffed knowing his nice posh wallet was being put to such good use.

Hicky

sounds like you will be making lots of potato recipes, and your neighbours will be in luck with all those potaoto give aways.

Pity you forgot your crab for your crab salad, but not all bad as you got to enjoy it later.

Your Walkers crisps are a bargain. Do you order them online? What is your fave flavour? Mine is cheese and onion.

Your vines are looking real healthy. Thanks for the photos.

I won the jackpot again last night on the ticket machine. Another 1300 tickets! The kids are going to be thrilled when we see them and they can get to pick their prizes from all our tickets. We also went to the seafront cafe and had an ice cream crepe with strawberries. Delcious.

Last night I watched a bbc2 programme called 8 Days to the Moon and Back, really good it was. Worth watching it on catch up if you can.

Watching Love Island now.

Went swimming today to try and help the arthritis.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky  Well I survived my trial run  ....and I can now sing all the words to head , shoulders , knees and toes and the wheels in the bus !  It was pretty nerve wracking , but it must have done me some good cos I have just been out and attacked the vine etc growing over the pergola....a job I’ve not been able to face cos it reminded me of my husband too much .  However , I actually quite enjoyed doing it ...it was very therapeutic hacking away at stuff...of course the small sherry might have helped

Mollie , my favourite crisp these days is  M&S Lightly salted Hicky , your outside vine looks like mine ...or at least it did before I got the secateurs to it Do you use the grapes ? I remember the first couple of  year we had ours ( about 30 years ago) my husband made something that purported to be wine ....purported being the operative word ! It ended up down the drain

Anyway , I hope you’ve both had a good day ...and I’m looking forward to Gogglebox tonight Mollie ....wonder what words of wisdom Rylans mum will come out with this week Have a good evening both ...I’ve got a new fridge freezer coming tomorrow ...so more drama chez Baz

Baz

Evening Mollie & Baz.

20c again today, sunny intervals, a brosk breeze.

Didn't go to get my shopping this morning as only needed a couple of items and o/h got them from my short list.

Had bacon and eggs for brekkie with toast.

Midday i had a salad roll and tonight had the rest of last nights stir fry over a new portion of basmati rice.

Put some 1cm mesh nylon netting over the strawberries, the 1ft tall netting is chicken wire.

Will be making some beef rogan josh next week as i have all thats needed, also some tika masala as the flavour is just so good, i also havce a couple of jars of Rendang paste as well.

It's a good weekend for me, Wimbledon, also F1 aat Silverstone most of today, saturday and sunday and Love Island tonight.

Have pollinated 2 of my melons today, got quite a few cucumbers on the way.

Mollie, These are the crisps, came in a big box, https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0...189395841_TE_3p_dp_1

I don't have a fave type, just eat any.

Well done winning the jackpot again, wow, how on earth did you do that.

Thats nice going to the seafront cafe, ice cream crepe, sound rather yummy.

Swimming as well, well done, it sure can't do any harm.

Baz, Glad your trial run went ok, didn't realise you had to sing.

Don't understand what you are doing with your grape vine, there is a spoecific way of pruning which is usually carried out between November and Feb where the main cordons are left alone and the years growth is pruned down to say 3 buds, the new shoots from these will bear the fruit, the fruit grown on this years growth.

All the shoots you see on my outside vine have grown this year, were they meet the main cordons will be where the grapes are, i prune down to 1ft in the winter and then the last prune in about Feb before the vine becomes live, that is incase any growth has been damaged in the winter.

Pruning a vine in the summer will just harm it or allow dusease to enter the vine.

Also, if you allow too many bunches of grapes to stay on the vine the smaller the grapes will be, also it will weaken the vine for the next year.

If the vine is getting too long, it needs shortening in the winter to give the vine a chance to ripen a smaller amount of fruit.

I love fridge freezers, mine is one of the American ones with the built in cold water and ice maker, fantastic, certainly worth the money.

Hasvea good night and a good weekend both of you.

Hicky

both xx

Baz

so glad the trial run went well. How nice you have those kiddie songs going round in your brain now. And so glad it gave you are spurt to be able to fave those vines.

I had to at the purported wine. My OH did too have one go at home brew, didn't bother a 2nd time though.

I bet you enjoyed Gogglebox tonight, I know I did. Rylan and his mum on top form and what a great addition Bez and Sean are too. So funny.

Hicky

good idea to protect your strawberries with netting.

You are going to be busy wathing sport this weekend.

Thanks for the link, what a bargain for all those.

We went to see the local show today, it is on all weekend, but queiter today. I did well as I came back with a nice supply of free pens.

Also went to view the auction stuff but not much of interest this week. OH got me a posh Dior lipstick last week.

We are going to visit my mum's elderly sisters in the midlands tomorrow. Just going for the day to save money on B and B. Its about 2 and quarter hours drive. So probably won't be back on here tomorowa as we will be late home. At least the forecast is good.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

19c today, mainly cloud, very little sun, a moderate breeze.

Had fried egg sandwiches for brekkie, midday had a salad, for tea had 2 big plaice fillets, some new potato, not mine, using up what i had in and made a sauce to go with it.

Stopped the watering for the greenhouse this morning as last night raised the moisture level to a good level and there is an option on the timer to delay watering for 24, 48 or 72 hours with a reset to turn it off by turning the dial to off and back to auto.

Pollinated another Melon female flower today, using the set of childrens brushes she bought me, the ones i ordered haven't come yet.

Can't believe how must the greenhouse vine has grown, the 2 cordons that grew last year from the main stem were about 1cm in the winter and now they are 2.5cm (1") wow a total of 60 ft of growth since the start of Spring.

Been watching the Tennis, wow, Hallet won, brill, and watched the Qual for F1 Mercs again 1 & 2.

Yes, thought i had better protect the strawberry plants as they have a lot of flowers on them.

Have a good trip to the Midlands, i spent some time in Digs there in about 1960, i was working in the factory that refurbish starter motors and dynamo's, the Digs didn't do brekkie and so early nowhere was open so we went to the shelter for the homeless and got brekkie.

If i have any problem with my left eye after the op i might not be able to see the screen, it's pretty bad now with 2 eyes, probably the cataracts, they should have been done a couple of years ago but it was halted because of the AMD problem.

Hicky

Hi Mollie and Hicky . Remind  me not to buy anything new for a long time ....what a performance ....I’m shattered First I had booked and paid for a specific time slot , but they didn’t turn up then ! So I found a number and phoned the firm to be told I was next on the list ....I said ok , but requested the extra money I had paid back ....they said yes , ok ....so that was something Then within a few minutes of putting the phone down my mobile rang and it turns out the driver had got lost on my estate ....so I gave them directions and said I’d stand out in the drive

Anyway , when they finally got here they were very nice ....but turns out that since we’d had the last freezer we had had a roller blind put on the back door , so it wouldn’t swing back and open fully .....so the blind had to be taken down before they could bring me in the new one and take out the old one  And that’s without the mess under the old one  But it’s up and running now and has reached the right temperatures ...so I must have done something right

Hope you’ve both had a less stressed day than me I’ve not read back so far , but will pop back later and catch up properly

Baz

Evening Baz.

21c here today, mainly cloud very little sun, just a gentle breeze.

Mainly made food and watched tv, with Wimbledon and F1 from Silverstone it was a good day.

Had bacon and beans for brekkie with toast, and just 1 main meal about 4pm, had cooked a Jacobs Ladder, boiled some of my new potatoes, did some veg and made some gravy.

It was a very good Grand Prix, and just watching the end of the tennis.

I thought delivery drivers had satnav to find addresses, wow, strange, pity they had to take the blinds down but the equipment is designed for certain size doors.

But it's good to have it working, thats the main thing.

I've put another time delay on the greenhouse watering as since i put shredded card down as a mulch on the 7 plant buckets the moisture level has gone up, maybe with the sun level going down, anyway, it's been off a couple of days, the moisture lever on them all is around 7, 1,2,3, is dry, 4,5,6,7, is most and 8910 is wet.

It's 22c tomorrow with more sun, mind you the sun is out now here, pleased about that.

Hicky

Evening both Hope you’ve had an enjoyable Sunday ....I’ve had a nice relaxing day and done naff all Mollie , hope you had a nice time with your aunts. Hicky , were you pleased with the result of the motor racing and the tennis ? I’m off to watch Escape to the Chateau ....I love that programme ...real feel good factor I’m off to counselling agin tomorrow , so attempting to chill and get some sleep tonight . So , enjoy your evening ...and see you tomorrow

Baz

both xxx

Baz

Sorry you had such a stressfull day sorting out the delivery. Sounds like it was complicated with a few things going wrong. Hope you are pleased with it now.

Hope the counselling goes well tomorrow. I too am watching Escape to the Chateau now. (hang on its running late though!!) ...

Hicky

sounds like the shredded card is doing a good job with the moisture.

Your vine will be taking over the whole garden soon, but sounds like you will get a good crop of grapes from it.

Its a good job you don't have long to wait for your cataracts as you are having vision problems, but they did well how they sorted that AMD problemi out.

That is interesting you stayed in the midlands in 1960, you do have some interesting tales from the past to tell.

We had a lovely day with my aunts. They are both in their 80's, but unlike my poor mum who got dementia, her sisters are fully with it and get out and about and enjoy their holidays. They treated us to lunch in the pub, which was very nice. We left home by 8am and came home after 5, so avoided Saturday traffic, and had a good journey there and back.

Today we had a bit of excitement in our little local train station. See OH's photo below. Lots of people came to see it. It really was going fast.

You can read about it in the link

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-48968453

Going to watch Beecham House and record Love Island for tomorrow.

Goodnight both xxx

Hi Mollie  and Hicky Hope you’re both having a good day . Glad you had a nice time with your aunts Mollie ....sorry to hear about your mum....it’s an awful disease  My mum had it too ...but she had the early onset type ....which she got in her late 40s and died in her mid 50s .

My counselling didn’t happen today ! I forgot she’d change the timesI arrived 3 hours too early ...so I had to leave a message cancelling and asking to rearrange it ...honestly, my head is scrambled at the moment 😞😞I’d even put it on my phone , but didn’t  look until she didn’t turn up at 12

Hope your day is more organised than mine!Have a good evening  both

Baz

Evening Mollie & Baz.

23c here today, sunny intervals with a gentle breeze.

Had grilled cheese and tomato on toast for brekkie, midday had some left over spuds fried with mushrooms and chorizo, for tea made a stir fry with added mushroom and for the gravy i used some Maysan chip shop make your own curry sauce, yummy.

Dug another small area of the Vivaldi potato patch, got enough for a few meals.

Watched a couple of recordings during the day, will have to feed the trees again this week.

Mollie, Yes, the watering is still off in the greenhouse, don't understand, the needles on most plants have gone up to 8, not sure how, we haven't had a very hot sunny day so evaporation is low.

Yes, i was contracting in the Lucas factory in Birmingham, doing electrical installation of new cables in the electro dip tanks, the only problem was i soon realised that the foreman in charge couldn't read, he would study the drawings but waited for you to say what was written, i didn't fall for that, Ha Ha, i said nothing, so funny, he could see the numbers of course but couldn't read the comments, he waited for you to read them.

Glad the trip to your aunts went ok, and a pub meal, nice,  thats a good picture of the train, will read the link later.

Baz, Yes, delighted with the sporting weekend, Lewis won, Halep won, didn't want novak to win, bet he was pleased with the winnings of ÂĢ2,500,000 not bad for 3 weeks work.

Love Escape to the Chateau.

Oh dear, sorry to hear you got the appointment time wrong, can happen when times are changed, yes 4 hours is a bit much to wait, never mind, can't be helped.

Have a good night both.

Here's a picture of the corner in the greenhouse, showing some of the grape trusses, the vine is growing on 3 tiers.

oh dear at you getting the wrong time, as you said too long to hang around. I have done that sort of thing before now too. Once my kids missed Chuckle Brothers becasue I went on the wrong day!

Hicky

that is an excellent crop of grapes by the look of it.

You certainly had a variety of food menus today.

My drama son was an extra in a film today and asked me and OH to go too to be extras. A very long day but we had a lot of fun going from location to location. Filming the same shots again and again. We did go on a mini bus for some of it, but there was also a lot of walking, so me and the other oldies had a laugh moaning about our aches and pains and trying to keep up with the others. Very hot and sweaty too. We arrived at 9 and didin't finish till nearly 7.

Got to catch up on Love Island now.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

Not a bad day here, better than the forecast, had 26c forecast was only 22, sunny intervals, also wrong, had sun all day, a gentle breeze, they got that right.

For Brekkie did scrambles eggs on toast, midday had a salad batch, for tea made a pan of beef Jalfrezi, tasty, will freeze the rest, should have fed 4.

Have got more cucumbers growing on 2 plants, have 2 melons growing one on each plant, you have to hand pollinate melons.

Fed the greenhouse vine some Tomorite and dried blood, the plant is planted just outside of the greenhouse so i fed the surrounding area.

Still have some spuds in the ground but the plant hasn't died off yet, not sure why as they were all planted the same day.

The growth of the greenhouse vine is complete now, each of the 6 cordons has reached the end of travel so will just have to keep the plant in check as they want to keep growing.

That was interesting for you, extra's wow, you could be leading lady next, not just yet, i would have thought you would all be bussed around, walking, wow.

That was a long day 9 till 7, what did you all do for lunch?

Love Island was good Monday, 3 new entering tonight, yes.

Hicky

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky Hope you’re both having a good day . I’ve finally caught up on my housework....and not before time Mollie , glad I’m not the only one that gets times/dates wrong ....but way to go to your son. Hicky , my dad always used dried blood ( and bone) on our veggies ...reading your post took me right back

I’m looking forward to the new programme on bbc2 tonight ....Remarkable Places to Eat ....and then Gardeners World ....so a nice relaxing evening viewing ahead Hope you both have a nice evening too

Baz

Evening Baz.

21c today, sunny intervals, light rain showers, a moderate breeze.

Didn't do a lot, went to dentish for checkup, need another booking as i have a small hole in the back of a tooth.

Then we nt to a cafe in Hoylake for a full English brekkie.

Had a salad sandwich for 2pm snack, for evening meal just had 2 bowls of Laksa soup with a few additives, like extra mushrooms, celery and sliced chorizo.

That places to eat program looks ok, 4 programs, will record it anyway.

Have got a couple of melons growing, the plant grows so fast, it has grown about 8ft all ready, and i have 2.

With my chili plants, one is twice the size of the other and has got quite a lot of chilies growing, the other one was having it's leaves eaten, i have stopped that with spraying with neem oil.

The cucumber plants are ok, another 6 on the way, the plant outside not so good.

Have some tomatoes on the way outside, and the peas are in flower.

Have a good night.

Hicky

Baz and Hicky xxx

Baz

well done on catching up with your housework. I always need to catch up on mine with 5 of us, a dog and house rabbit. (my excuse any way).

I missed that Remarkable Places to Eat, sounds just up my street (I love food!)

Hicky

melons, cucumber, tomatoes, potatoes, grapes, chilli, peas....wow, you could fill the local greengrocers shelves with all that!

I thought Places to Eat show would appeal to you too.

Did another nearly full day as an extra. I was shattered and my poor feet were so tired. Me and the other arthritic oldies had to skip some scenes as it was too hard walking up and down the steep uneven ground to the pretend grave.

They supplied lunch, and drinks. A selection of sandwiches, salads, cocktail sausages, pork pies, fruit, crisps, which was much needed. We had to dress exactly the same for the 2 days filming for continuity. They shot some scenes with a drone. Can't believe how long it takes to film crowd scenes that will only be on the film for a couple of minutes. So repetitive till they get it right too. But at least it was real interesting to me and I had a laugh with the others who weren't so good mobility wise.

Nice day here again today, not too hot, but dry and bright.

Am behind with Love Island, will catch up tonight.

Have a good day both xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

Not a bad day really, 20c sunny intervals with a moderate breeze.

Had bacon and egg for brekkie, midday made 2 salad sandwiches, tonight had a pre-made Beef Rogan Josh, just thawed and made some boiled rice.

The Showmaster onions are coming on ok, the leaves are about 3ft long, massice, the onion bulb inself is starting to form so they could be good, they are the ones you can show at the shows.

Will be getting rid of some of my fruit trees after this seasons over, the trees really should be re-potted after about 3 years because they are in pots, but it's a big job to do that, so when they stop growing it probably means they are rootbound so fruit production drops and the tree slowly dies.

The cherry trees looked ok at the start of the season but a lot of cherries dropped for no reason, the growth has stopped this year as well so bye bye cherry trees.

At least after all that time walking you got some food, i would have enjoyed that, not the walking though.

Yes, it's normal to film for hours only for it to be edited into a couple of minutes, standard that.

Am enjoying Love Island, pity theres not long left, will miss it so much.

Have a good night.

Have made my shopping list out, not much i need so o/h will get it save me going.

Hicky

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky  Hope you’ve both had a good couple of days . I agree Hicky , you could stock up a greengrocers Mollie , that film set sounds awesome . The restaurant programme was good ....nice mixture of food and travel

Its rained all day here ...which matches my mood....I’m finding this time really , really hard  I am getting up in the morning , and managing to do the chores , which takes up all my energy ....but still putting one foot in front of the other .

Anyway , I hope you both have a good evening ....don’t forget it’s the last Gogglebox ( at least for a while )  tonight Mollie

Baz

Evening Baz.

A rather wet start to the day, rained most of it, the rain stopped at 5pm, didn't get any thunder, temperature 22c wind moderate.

For brekkie had pork sausages with a tin of peeled tomatoes and toast.

Didn't eat midday as brekkie was late, so for tea made some tonge salad sandwiches.

O/H got my shopping and in it was some packs of extra lean diced beef, will have that for more curries in the week.

I took the netting down from the cherry trees, not sure how i take the frame down as it needed a hammer to build it, it not being the screwed together type, the fittings are hammered into the tubes.

I watched a couple of recording during the day with all the rain, but i have an awful lot to watch, i think the 24 hrs in A&E is up to 52 waiting to be seen, and there are many others.

Yes, it is very hard for you these days, getting up and doing the normal chores is far from exciting, are you in any way artistic or do you fancy a type of hobby, with all this time available you need something to apply your abilities too.

It will be good when you spend more time at the library.

The golf is on but just the highlights, i enjoy watching the golf, no idea why it isn't on during the day, unless Sky have it, like everything else.

Have a good night and a good weekend.

Aaaww Baz, poor you , I am sending you a big forum.

Such a difficult time for you being the 1st year of your loss. No wonder you are struggling. You have been doing well getting our and about and getting that little voluntary job, but you are bound to have real off days around now.

Its been raining all day here too today.

Hicky

you have got a lot of  A and  E viewings to watch yet for when we get the rainy days. I too enjoy that programme, in fact caught up with 2 recordings of it today whilst the rain poured down.

You are probably right and Sky have the golf. Like you, we too left Sky as their package was too expensive. We still have our broadband with them, but are thinking of moving as not too pleased with them, they keep putting us on a contract, then when that ends, putting the price up a lot. And they seem to be dipping the connection at night, much to my gamer sons discust if he is late night gaming with his mates.

I am watching Celeb Gogglebox now, are you tonight HIcky? Still loving Rylan and mum, and Baz and Sean.

Have a good evening both xxx

M

Evening Mollie & Baz.

Only 19c here today, light rain, sunny intervals with a fresh breeze.

Had 2 egg sandwiches for brekkie, midday had mushroom soup with extra mushrooms and chili sauce.

For tea had some of my new potatoes with one of the curries, a Jhalfezi.

Didn't do a lot today, cut 2 non productive fig trees down, made a netting support for one of the watermelons.

Had a coffee in my manshed, handy having the kettle and mug with the coffee mate-and decaf coffee.

Yes, with the 24 hr in A&E, i record them so i watch the earliest recording but i will never catch up of course.

I'll be watching the Golf tonight, recording other programs, with this BT box i can only record 2 programs at a time.

Yes, the sky package we had some years ago was costing more and more, it got out of hand so we now have Freesat, Freeview and BT TV Youview box.

A lot of providers used to cut the nighttime speeds many years ago when we never had much speed, i suppose the same still happens, it would be very annoying if you were playing online games.

I record gogglebox, am going to watch the golf now.

Have a good night all.

Hicky

Baz and Hicky

Sending you a Baz as I know it is hard times for you.

Hicky

shame 2 fig trees are non productive, do you have any left now?

Melons as well, what a variety of produce you have growing in your back garden.

How nice you can sit and unwind with a cuppa in your manshed.

Yes the same still happens with Sky, even though we pay for the supposedly faster spead cable broadband!

We have a Humax box and like yours, our recordings are restricted. We can only record one channel and watch another.

We had rain this morning, then it dried up.

We visited the classic car display in town today. Very nice it was, my fave was a 1930's car, that looked in immaculate condtion.

Then off to Costco for a bit of food shopping and tea in the cafe. Mine was jacket potato, beans and cheese.

Watched the C4 Moon live tonight, a good programme. Amazing how this was done 50 years ago. Did you watch it live HIcky?

Goodnight both xxx

M

Baz and HIcky

hope you both have had a good day.

Weather been good here today, warm with a bit of cloud so not too hot.

We went to a big country park, took dog too, have to take her dog stroller as she can't walk far and there is a lot of walking uphill to the castle in the park. At least when I take her stroller I feel secure hanging onto the handles so don't need to take my stick.

There was a comic/superheroes thing on, so daughter especially enjoyed that. She bought some comics, lots of people dressed up were there.

Later we went for late Sunday lunch at local pub. I had cauliflower cheese and yummy veg, including yorkshire pud and roast potatoes. Daughter had so much beef, my neighour's dog did well. (my dog can't eat beef, only chicken). OH had half roast chicken and son had Mexican chicken.

Weather forecast says hot and humid to come this next week, not looking forward to that!

Time to watch Beecham House, love this drama, great scenery and costumes.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Evening Mollie. (

Nearly got caught out again, noticed the box asking if a i agreed with cookies, so ticked that then did a F5, so it came up i needed to sign in.

Saved me losing the post anyway.

It was 22c today with sunny intervals, a moderate breeze to go with it.

Had Bacon, egg and beans for brekkie, midday had a sald sandwich, for tea had a bowl jellied eels then a plate of chicken wings.

Most of the trees need re-potting, which i can't really do so they will have to go, when the new growth stops the tree is under stress, O/H wants the area that had cherries, apples and pears clearing as she wants to get them in to lay fake turf.

The total area i worked out on my scale layout is 48.8 sqm.

I have 2 fig trees left with figs on, pretty new ones, 1 i grew from a cutting the other one i bought about 3 years ago.

I am with NT for broadband, email, TV etc.

My Humax boxes packed up, once they give problems i bin them

classic car shows are great, none by me, not that i would go, they keep them like new, fantastic, they will last for ever, as long as you don't use them for motorway work.

Costco with Jacket, beans and cheese sounds familiar.

Yes, i remember it well, trying to think where i was working in 1969, can't remember which office / factory i was doing work for.

The moon program was very interesting, so much i didn''t know.

Hope Baz is ok, such a tough time for her.

Had my lad on the tablet this morning for half an hour, it was 9pm in Oz, 12 am here, so good to see them all.

Just watching the golf highlights from Island.

Hicky

Evening Mollie and Hicky Looks like you’ve both had a good weekend....you certainly pack a lot in  I like 24 hours in A& E too ....and GP’s  behind closed doors

I’ve not done a lot this weekend ....although I did make it to town yesterday , so got some fresh air . I’ve got counselling tomorrow , so I’m hoping it will help a bit .

Anyway , I hope you both sleep well tonight ....sweet dreams

Baz

Evening Mollie & Baz.

Warmer today at 24c with sunny intervals and a fresh breeze.

O/H asked if i had stuff for the recycle compound, i said yes and started to gather items from the garage to take in the car,, lots of electrical items and a roll of corrugated brown paper, more room in the garage, great.

after that we went to a garden center for brekkie and o/h wanted to see some of the summer clothes collection, she got a few things for when we go to stay with a relative in Suffolk late August.

When we got home i made a greenhouse wash for the glass to control the suns rays, just got it made and i realised there was too much wind, oh dear, hope it keeps in the sprayer.

I have 3 melons growing now, have made the net support for the biggest, which is the size of a big grapefruit, the others can wait till they get bigger.

O/H has estimated that to get our 50sqm of astroturf laid would probably cost between ÂĢ3,500 and ÂĢ5,00.

Originally she wanted to put the turf on the decking, of which i have 60 to 70 sqm but i said the decking would rot under the fake turf as it couldn't dry out.

At least you got into Town Baz, hope the counselling goes well for you.

I really must try and get to bed earlier, i go at about 1am, i am a night owl so don't get tired at night, i do at 4pm, i should really have a nap in the afternoon.

Hope you both had a good day.

Hicky

Hi Baz

hope the counselling helped you today.   Such a difficult time for you.

Hicky

Good job you didn't lose your post, I too have to be careful when it asked for this cookie thing.

A nice treat for you to go to garden centre for brekkie and for your OH to sort some clothes out for when you go away. We too like going for brekkie at our garden centre, and we often get clothes from it. It is Cotton Traders at our garden centre.

Hope the wind doesn't damage your greenhouse wash!

Sounds like your melons are coming on well.

Gosh the turf is expensive, but at least once you have it, you don't need to worry about keep cutting it, like you do real grass.

One of the beaties of being retired is you can choose when you go to bed, and when you nap, so don't worry too much , just do the timings to suit you.

Didn't do much today, just a quick visit to lidl and costco to get some shopping as neigbhour has asked daughter to make her a birthday cake for her son's 30th.

And of course as it is only ÂĢ1.50 had to buy my fave jacket potato, cheese and beans.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Baz and Hicky

Hope you are ok today Baz. Did you go out today?

Hicky

I wonder what nice meals you enjoyed today?

For tea, my family shared a chicken ready made curry we got from Costco the other day. They said it was delicious. I had seeded flatbread with salad that I enjoyed.

I went swimming too, the water was refreshing and cool compared to the awful humid heat we have had today! It got up to 31 by us they said. Our poor pets don't look very happy. We got the dog a cooler mat.

My freind came to our house this morning and I made her her fave cheese and tomato on toast brekkie.

Going to watch A and E and Love Island tonight. Watching a garden show on C5 now.

Have a good evening both xxx

M

Evening Mollie and Hicky Hope you are both managing to stay cool .....it’s been very hot and muggy here ....I’m hoping we might get a thunderstorm to clear the air !I like A& E too Mollie Celeb MC starts soon.....if you watch it ....and tonight I’ll be watching Alan Tichmarch National Trust

Counselling went ok yesterday , but I’ve not been out  as it’s a year today . I didn’t want company ....not even the kids ...although I’ve spoken to both of them .....but apart from I just hunkered down to get through it . ....with a lot of help from my forum friends .

Anyway , I hope the heat doesn’t give you a sleepless night . Take care both

Baz

Evening Mollie & Baz. :

Warm today, had 32c here sun all day with a gentle breeze, by my computer now it's 28.5c, wow.

With the wind dropping i sprayed some of the pains that i thought need to be done, the sun passes the end of the greenhouse as it passes east to west.

Had some fried left over slices of my new spuds and egg sandwich, midday had a salad sandwich, for tea had some bacon ribs i got yesterday from the garden center.

Put more supports up in the greenhouse as another melon is growing, wow, do they grow quick, the plants think they have moved to australia.

Got loads of chilies on the Jalopeno plants, and about 4 cucumbers.

I was checking my BP again and found this morning is was too high, tried it 3 times then had to take the tablet from the box i stopped 2 weeks ago, rand the surgery to talk to the doc, they said he would call today, that was at 10am  when i didn't get a call by 4.30pm i rang again, she said he does the calls after surgery at 6pm, and i had spent all day waiting for the call, not that i could have done much in this heat.

Anyway, i explained the situation, and he is on holiday Monday for 2 weeks, he said he would send a new prescription to the chemist for me, i rang them, they have it, will get it tomorrow.

Mollie, I like to get up around 8am in the morning as i don't like wasting summer time in bed when it's nice.

Wow, hope your daughter doesn't mind making a Birthday cake for your neighbour.

That ready made chicken curry soulds nice, i am so fussy on curries, the amount of spice etc is so critical.

Don't blame you going swimming, that water would be very nice compared to outside.

Yes, the pets cant really cool themselves, it's like walking around in a blenket, no wonder they shear the sheep, maybe they should shear dogs as well.

If your friend tells her friends you might find a crown one day for the cheese and tomato on toast.

Baz, To be honest today was just like i was still in Australia by the poolside, but without the pool.

Glad the counselling went ok, it all help, you never get over these things but you only need to come to terms with reality to help you deal with it.

I hope chatting online can fill in a few minutes of your time, only wish we could help more somehow.

Sleeping will be hard tonight.

They say stand a bottle of ice or cold water in front of a fan in the bedroom.

Hope you can get some sleep in this heat.

Hicky

Evening Everyone.

Warm here again, 23c sunny with a gentle breeze.

Had sausages and beans for brekkie with toast.

Didn't have anything midday, for tea had soup then salmon salad sandwiches, without the salmon as i forgot to get the tin from the cupboard.

Only did a bit of tidying in the garden, o/h was taking compost out of the old cherry tree tubs so we can bag the root to get rid of it, i was going to get the gardener to do it as it's too much for me, any exertion is too much for me.

Made a couple more net sling veg supports for the greenhouse as even the cucumbers are pretty heavy if you don't pick them soon enough.

By the side of my computer it is 30c, wow.

Just going for another walk around the garden now it's a bit cooler outside.

Aaawww Baz

sending you a big online , such a difficult time for you.

I am so glad you have forum friends that have been able to support you and I am also glad you felt comfortable enough to come on Hicky's page to tell us both too.

It is understandable you did not want company today, but it is good you were able to speak to your family.

Yes far too hot at the moment and the humidity makes it even worse.

M

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky Speak to me now , cos in a few minutes all that will be left of me will be one boiling puddle on the floor ! ITS TOO HOT and HUMID  I’ve been for my weekly  spa hour ......which was beautifully cool ....but then I had to go into town ...and I’d forgotten how darn hot public transport gets ! Hope you’re all managing to stay cool though  I think we might be in for a storm here later ....which will hopefully cool things down a bit . I hope so cos I do my first full volunteer stint .

Anyway , I hope you both have a good evening ...Serengeti for me tonight

Baz
