Hi Hicky.
Dull and a bit drizzly here, and cold too. Only 4c this afternoon.
I went out in the van but didn't actually do any jobs.

Sounds like you needed that cooling drink by the poolside with that heat.
You really are liking those Vietnamese ribs.
Eating out in Australia sounds really expensive. Hope it's not you picking up the tab?
Good luck in dodging those crocs, if you go fishing.

Watched 24 Hrs in Police Custody.

Evening Emptybox.

Just had an Indian takeaway Lamb Rogan Josh with rice and pickles, might have more later or in the morning, you get so much.

With it being the wet season here it basically rains all night, the day time, well, you can be lucky but it could stay cloudy all day, not that it seems to effect things as if the sun was out you couldn't do much anyway as you would bake

Hicky

both xx

got back late from Llandudno, and was busy today as it was the day I rearranged a meet up with a friend that was cancelled last week due to her train being cancelled. We were lucky and it was dry  when we were away, with a cool breeze which I didn't mind as we walked down the pier. Niece loved the shove halfpenny (which is now 2pennys), so we spent several pounds winning tickets that she exchanged for some rubbish worth not more than a pound! But she was well happy with the fun of it.

Emptybox

pity you felt so unwell going away, but good job it cleared up. Sounds like proof that condition is definately aggravated with stress. The funeral sounds very well planned and special in that it was so personal to your uncle and family.

Did you buy anything interesting in Lidl? I enjoy browsing their middle shelves for their different weekly bargains.

Hicky

wow, what an interesting day out that sounded. And what lovely photos, I love train rides, that one sounds real special, especially with the view of the waterfall and the fact it is 100 years old. The cable car journey sounds great too. Did you manage ok getting into the cable car? Yes I remember living in Queensland how hot and humid it was this time of year, and we were not as far north as you are in Cairns. Nice for a relaxing holiday, but must be exhuasting working there.

Have you finished your antibiotics now, and are you well?

Gosh meals out are so expensive there?

As Emptybox says, good luck dodging crocs and falling coconuts, that is something that doesn't worry us over here!

Going to watch Bake Off now.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Hi both.
Another wet day here, and cold as well.
It was only rain at home, but when I went into town to get my prescription and fuel for the mowers, I faced snow and sleet. Not nice at all.

Hicky. perhaps going to Australia in the rainy season may not have been the best idea?

Mollie. That's good that it was dry while you were away, and you had fun with your neice on the pier.
Hope you enjoyed your meet up with your friend?

Yes I guess my condition is definitely aggravated by stress.
The funeral was very well organised considering it was done with only minimal input from the undertaker.
No i didn't get anything special from Lidl (apart from a couple of bottles of beer).

Watched the documentary on the murder of Jill Dando.

emptybox

Evening \both.

Another washout today, 29c, went to the pool, no sun, just rain and cloud, it didn't seem to bother anyone, i don't like getting wet though.

We can drop some of our luggage at the next hotel stop ahead of arriving in 4 days, it means we can take less stuff on the ferry to Fitzroy.

O/H had to see a dentist as a back tooth was giving trouble.

Mollie, As long as you enjoyed your trip away, thats the meain thing.

That railway is quite scay, travelling around the edge of shear drops.

The humidity is the main problem, my breathing is pretty bad as it is, have to keep taking the puffer, have got 2 new ones from the chemist, have also go another course of antibiotics in case i need them.

I don't feel too bad myself, still not eating as i should be but it's not the meds, it could be the heat.

Emptybox, snow and sleet, not what you need at all, you are probably right, coming to Cairns in the wet season may not be the best choice, but our options were limited with o/h's knee replacement.

Hicky

both xxx

Emptybox

any snow there today? I saw on the weather the Scottish borders had snow.

Hicky

Sorry you are having problems with your breathing. I can understand you strugging with the humidity, as you are right up north there in Cairns and it is still the end of the summer wet season. It is one reason we came back to UK, couldn't stand the heat any more. (lots of other reasons too though).

The railway and cable car sounds a really good experience though. But glad you are not feeling too bad now, so it does sound like it is just the heat putting you off eating much.

That is handy you can drop your luggage off in advance for the next hotel. I bet the ferry will be interesting too, and the Barrier Reef a great experience.

Your poor OH having trouble with her tooth, hope she can get it sorted ok.

Didn't do much today, it was very cold, but did take the dog a walk and neighbours dog too. It was mostly dry, so managed to dry the washing.

watched the Bay tonight, quite a good series.

Goodnight Emptybox xxx

Hope you have a good day Hicky. xxx

M

Evening both.
Very wet and snowy here today. Was snowing for a while, but too wet to lie, although the hills around are white.

Hicky. Pity you had rain today.
That's handy that you are able to offload some of your luggage.
Sorry to hear your OH had tooth trouble. I guess that's the problem with being away for so long, you have to cope with these things in a foreign country.
Glad you are feeling not too bad in yourself, despite your breathing problems.

Mollie. That's good that you were able to get a dog walk in despite the cold weather.
The only good thing about it being cold is that the grass isn't really growing, so missing out on work because of the rain and snow isn't so urgent.

Watched 'The Bay' as well. It's pretty good.

Emptybox

not surprised you had some snow, we had a lot of hail here and the hills not far away had a good covering of snow this morning.

Yes this late winter weather does slow down your spring workload, but I guess as soon as it warms up, everyone will want you all at once!

Hicky

glad to hear you slept well and your OH has got her tooth sorted. Did they just fill it for her? How did you choose a dentist ? Good idea for you to have an extra supply of antibiotics just in case. Have you finished your first dose now?

Pity you got covered in bites, that often happened to me, you get bitten so easy in Oz especially at dusk. I ended up on anitbiotics once as it was a real bad one. HOpe yours clears soon, anti histamine is supposed to help.

Hope your journey to Fitzroy went ok.Look forward to seeing some photos when you have chance.

Very cold here today, we had a few real heavy hail storms.

I went swimming today, as I am supposed to go 3 times a week.Find it hard to fit it in though especially when it is so cold, and  its such an effort taking coats etc and having to shove it all in the locker.

Went to cafe  with son and daughter after though and had a halloumi salad wrap.

Not much to watch on tv tonight, so am watching the biscuit programme.

Good night both xxx

M

Hi Mollie.
Wet again this morning, but turned sunny late afternoon, but everything was too soggy by then.
Yes, I expect everybody to want to be done at once, when the weather improves.

That's good that you could go swimming, and enjoy a cafe snack with your son and daughter.

Watched 'Manhunt: Catch Me If You Can' then 'Code Blue: Murder' on ITV.

emptybox

Will get back on tonight.

Just post this for now.

Got back online, no internet in rooms, using a signal from my lads phone, it sends out wifi like hub.

27c light rain showers, brisk wind
Had quite a rough crossing, wasn't sick though, very pleased, we were like a bottle in the ocean, tossing about.
Was glad when we got here, only a 45 min crossing, but 1.5m swell.
Got a few pics, rooms lovely, had a buffet breakfast, in the price.
this is the boat.

Hicky

Hello Both.

Mollie, i finished 2 sets of antibiotics, got the spare set as standby.

My lad sorted the dentist before we came to Fitzroy, they are local to the resort, $255 AUD i think, not sure what they did.

It was scorching here yesterday, very hot, nice today as well, don't stay in the sun long as it's overhead.

Had some brekkie from the massive choice on the buffet.

Just had some deep fried squid, not rings.

My lad and his o/h went snorkelling but water too cloudy, in the tide.

Emptybox. Am eating better, got more stuff to put on the bites, wow, so many, everywhere.

The scooter is fantastic, need a 4 x 4 though here, well 1 part is coral bits either washed up or placed outside the activities hut, had to get off as wheels spinning, mind you went down the hill ok.

Hicky

both

Emptybox

work today or too wet?

not too bad here today ,bit showery but not huge hailstors like yesterday. Still cold though.

Hicky

thank you for those lovely photos.

good job you weren't seasick on the boat in such rough weather. But it looks like a nice little boat.

The hut piccie reminds me of Keith's hut in IACGMOOH!

Pity you don't have wifi in the room, that must be a strong wifi your lad's phone has. Didn;t know you could get wifi from a phone at all!

So glad you are eating better again, the antibiotics must of helped.

Wonder what you are up to today? Do you plan to take a trip out on a boat round the Barrier Reef?

Hope the tides calm down a bit, to stop the cloudy snorkelling.

Started my new job today, only did a couple of hours but it went ok. I only did one thing wrong and that was to give one student 2 question papers by mistake. I worked with my neighbour, so she showed me the ropes. There were around 34 students, all were polite, and only asked for things like extra paper etc, but they were A level students and i am told they are the easy ones, so it let me in lightly.

Went to the pub for tea with all the family as we don't see OH much now he is working away. I had veggie cottage pie with mash, peas, salad, delicous.

Going to watch Gogglebox after Corrie.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

Yes, their wifi that i get is as good as the internet signal they get.

It can run our phones, tablet and laptop and they are 4 doors away, not sure how.

Only 29c today, had a couple of hours on the poolside, in and out of the sun as it is very intense.

The weather is too rough for me to go out on a boat, water rough, sea murky, pointless really.

Glad your new job went ok, keep you occupied for a while.

Veggie cottage pie sounds nice.

Hicky

Hi Hicky xx

Don't blame you not going on a boat if it is rough, but a good idea to relax around the poolside. I can see in your photo they have sunloungers.

29c still very hot, so you are wise to limit the time in direct sun.

I bet you and OH are enjoying spending time with the baby.

Still a chilly wind here today, but fairly dry and sunny, so got a lot of washing dry and was able to sit out on the swingchair for awhile.

Went to costco for food shopping and had tea there for all of us, so cheap , we can't go wrong.

No Emptybox for a couple of days, hope he is ok and has just forgotten to post.

BGT back on tonight which is good.

Then looking forward to watching the final of The Voice.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Good Morning Mollie.

Emptybox won't have forgotten to post, maybe no internet, medical problems, something is stopping him posting.

Only 27c here but 29c later as its only 09.41 am Sunday Morning.

Just had brekkie, had a nice steak last night, got a pic of the sunset while eating outside.

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/D3dhZACUcAAzkyo.jpg

Moving soon, taking the Fitzroy Flyer back to Cairns.
winds pretty high though.
Been watching the fish off the pier, wow, hundreds of them, plus a big bail ball of tiny ones.

Using SIL phone internet Wifi to get online.

Should be ok when we reach the Pullman Cairns International hotel.

Glad weather not so bad there, on the swing, that good.

Yes, Costco such good prices for a meal.

Haven't seen much uk tv, just the chase and a few others, signal not good on the island.

Hicky

Hicky

still no Emptybox? Hope he is not unwell as if he loses his signal, he usually posts with his phone allowance. If you are reading, hope you are ok Emptybox.

Lovely photos of your hotel Hicky. Being in the 12th floor, you do have some nice views, and obviously a lift this time round! The road looks really quiet. I expect as it is your town stay, you will get to go out round the town now. Did you bring the same scooter with you, or have you got another one there?

The hotel sounds lovely. HOpefully you are enjoying your food enough now to take advantage of the fine dining.

Not a bad day again today here, wind a bit chilly, and some cloud, but have plenty of washing drying and got to sit out on the swing chair, and take the dog out.

Enjoyed the Voice and BGT last night.

I guess you are too busy exploring and enjoying time with the family to bother with tv Hicky . Plenty of time for that when you get home.

Hope you enjoy the rest of your day Hicky.

And hope to see you back here soon Emptybox.

Have a good day both xxx

Hi Mollie.

No Emptybox, strange, hope he didn't have to go to hospital.

Got the same scooter, took it to Fitzroy, bit of a struggle.

Eating a lot better anyway.

Just had brekkie, wow, never seen anything like it, will get pics tomorrow, everything you could even imagine.
Just had a coffee, beans and scrambled egg on toast then a Kiwi fruit.
It is just a massive self serve buffet with a chef if you want something made.
A bread / tpast station, a fruit one, a cold one, a hot one, a coffee / drink station, a breakfast cereal stn, i lost track.

I am eating better but the bites on my legs sting at night, have used a tube of relief cream, o/h out buying more.
I seem to have a load more bites from yesterday, could be from Fitzroy, thing is nobody else has been bitten.
They must like dead meat.
Kept waking to put on cream.

Nice 3rd floor pool, as seen from 12th through glass.

Hicky

Hicky

I am concerned for Emptybox, not like him to not post, even if he loses connection. And as we know he was upset and stressed when his uncle died, so was unwell when he was going to the funeral. Puzzling still though, is that he seemed improved when he was home again. But as you say, maybe he had become unwell again and has had to go to hospital? Hope we hear from him soon, and it is just something to do with his connection, rather than being unwell.

What a lovely photo of the pool, how unusal to have one on the 3rd floor. Have you or the family been in it? It looks huge and is very quiet too.

Glad you have the same scooter but yes I can imagine it was a bit of a struggle having to take it to Fitzroy.

That's good you are eating again, so are able to enjoy such a good brekkie. Look forward to seeing the photos of it when you get chance. Sounds like you can get enough to eat there to last you all day.

Sorry you have got bitten again. I know they only go for some people, they always went for me too, but not the rest of the family! You will have to put some repellent on, especially at dusk time now, as the bites can get nasty. One of mine went infected at one stage.

Went to work today to sort rota and do a quick course about working with children. All good, as the lads came too and we all get paid for going. One lad had to rush off to uni after, so he didn't miss much.

Not a bad day after morning mist cleared. Managed to sit out on the swing chair for awhile and got all the washing dried.

You will notice when you get home HIcky how much lighter it is now. It is nearly 8pm and only just going dark.

Have a good day Hicky.

Missing you Emptybox, hope you are back soon xxx

M

Good Morning Mollie.

Yes, worried about Emptybox not posting.

Forgot to take the pictures of the food are this morning.

Went for a drive on the scooter to the Esplanade, got a few pictures.

Just had a drink at brekkie, beans on toast.

We were on the poolside yesterday, you can order drinks and food.

The bubble pool is heated.

Got so many bites on the left leg i just coat the whole leg with cream to stop the itching, have even had tea tree oil on.

----------------------------

27c today, light rain showers, 12.01 am on Tuesday 9th April 2019.

Been out for a wander with my lad and family, went around the Cairns Esplanade, wow, it's huge, a bit much for 2 life guards.
A few pictures from around it.

Hi Hicky

still no Emptybox. Hope he is ok.

Lovely photos again Hicky.

That esplanade  looks huge, nice you can visit it with the help of your scooter.

Handy you can relax around the hotel pool, and order food/drinks at the same time. Have you tried the heated bubble pool or is it too awkward for you to get in?

Poor you, your bites sound real uncomfy. Have you enquired if antihistamines would help, (if they are ok with your current meds).

That was clever getting a photo of those bats. I can remember seeing them hanging upside down in the tress in the day, when we were in Queensland, and then flying around as dusk started. They were called fruit bats the ones we saw.

I have had a cold for a few days now, so annoying. Not a bad one but does give me a cough now and again, and is making me tired.

Took dogs to vet for her annual booster injection. She seemed ok having it, but when we took her to the car, she had a bit of a fit, yelped and passed out, and we couldn't stand her up for awhile. Poor thing. Vet checked her over, and told us to hang around for awhile until she walked a little. Which we did. She seems ok now and has eaten her tea.

It is a lot cooler here again today. But mostly dry.

HOpe you have a good day today HIcky.

Thinking of you Emptybox  xxx

M

I will reply to your post later Mollie.

Just posting this while i have it.

Good Morning Everyone.

30c today with brisk breeze, sunny, sunny and sunny.
Just had breakfast.
A few pictures from the restaurant as set up with the food.
Bread and toast etc station.

Fruit, Juices, Yoghurt station.

Chef cook your eggs station.

Hot drinkies station, machines, wow, you need BSC in engineering to get a drink.

Hot food section, lots of choice.

Other station also, cereal, cold drink fridges.,

Hicky

Hi Mollie.

Will have to see the Chemist about the anti histamine, if it goes with my meds.

can't get the bat video off twitter to post in forums, darn it.

Still no Emptybox, worrying.

Hope your cold / cough has eased, nothing worse.

Strange about the dog, but you never know how they will take injections, not nice for you, a bit scary to say the least.

Hiring big vehicle again tomorrow, off to Mission Beach, about 100 km, just charging the scooter, it really is marvellous.

Got an upgrade on the Singapore airline flight from here to Singapore to Business class, have to go premium economy for the rest as it was too expensive to upgrade.

Will give flight details before we leave anyway.

Hicky

Hicky

Still no sign of Emptybox,  I am worried, I suspect it is a waste of time, as if he can't get on here, I can't see him getting on twitter, but never the less,  I sent him a PM via twitter yesterday, but as I guessed, I haven't heard anything back.

That would be great for me to see your flight details so I can follow it on flight radar. Shame business class was too expensive for the 2nd leg of the journey, but hopefully you will be happier with Singapore airlines than the one you came with.

Goodness me, that tower of sea food is absolutely huge! Good job you got your appetitie back so you could tuck into that.

The breakfast selection looks incredible too. Looks like there is not a thing lacking there.

Good to see your feet up and relaxing round that lovely pool.

Looks like there is clear blue skies and sun too round that pool.

We had a nice sunny day here today too, although the wind was cold 1st thing, but I did manage to sit out on the swing chair in the afternoon and took the dog a walk.

Watched Corrie, watching an itv drama now.

Have a good day HIcky. xxx

M

Good Morning Mollie.

Yes, can't figure out what has happened to Emptybox at all, hope he appears soon.

Yes, an upgrade on the second part of  the flight was double, they wanted ÂĢ2,000 extra, too much.

3 of us shared that seafood in the picture, there was such a lot.

Off to Mission Beach soon, so will sign off.

Oh, and my onions got delivered to my neighbour, we messaged each other, they are fine.

I could do with a swing seat here, they don't seem to have them.

The bat video is on my twitter, can't get it off to post it though.

Hicky

Hi Hicky

yes ÂĢ2k each is an awful lot of money, hopefully you will be comfy enough in the seats you have. That's good your onions got delivered problem free in the end.

I will look at your twitter to see the bat video now you mention it.

Glad to hear your enjoyed your trip to Mission Beach, especially the fish and chip tea.

Thank you for the lovely photos again. Looks lovely relaxing beach, and such nice blue skies. The swimming pool looks set up for a race. Hope you did not have to run to avoid any parachutes. You will miss the warm weather when you leave there. But at least you are coming back to late spring and summer here soon.

Have your bites calmed down at all yet?

Another lovely sunny day here today, but very cold first thing, temperatures dropping quick again now the sun has gone in and we are due a frost again. I stayed home and sat on the sun chair, got my washing dried nicely.

I have a horrible cough from this cold, that woke me about 4 times in the night. Damn nuisance. I am not coughing all the time, but it is worst at night time.

I just cannot figure what has happened to Emptybox. As you know, we have been posting for years each day together now, so this is not right. Even when he loses signal he finds a way to post via his phone. I so wish I had his phone number now, I did have his address once, but not sure If I can find it now. It has been a whole week now since he posted. I have had no response to my PM I sent him on twitter.

Have a good day Hicky. xxx Don't forget to post your flight details so I can follow them.

M

Morning Mollie.

Yes, very worrying what happened to Emptybox.

Just had some brekkie, orange juice, 2 fried eggs on toast, 2 quasants with butter and jam, baby loves her brekkie in the restauran, she gets some fruit mashed into a baby feeding net, she enjoys that, she also loves chips, or a pork rib bone with the loos meat taken off, she has her bottles of course, she loves ice cream, and a drink from my water bottle, she is coming on leaps and bounds, so different from when we arrived.

Will be having the all you can eat seafood buffet tonight in the hotel, will see if i can get a couple of pictures.

By Mission beach, my had had 2 plots of land, he sold one, he has one left but 2.3rds of the area is covered by forest, you can't cut the trees down of course, plenty of room to build a property though, area is over 2,000 sqm.

I think that pool is used for the schools or local swimming clubs, the starting blocks are covered over while the public is in.

My bites have eased, put cream on the latest, will have to spray with insect repellant today though.

My cough went, hope yours does as well, slep ok, hard with the air con blowing though.

Yes, i'll let you have the flight details, maybe in the pm.

Hicky

Hicky, if you are trying to get the the private messages section here there are two ways of doing so.

One way is to move your pointer to the upper right corner so that it's over your name, a drop down menu appears and then select Private Messages.

The other way is to click on this link:
https://www.gagajoyjoy.com/member-cp/private-messages

You'll see a list of private messages to which you have been part of and select one where Mollie is also on - ?"Mollie's Op" is one she mentioned in January.

Once in the private message, post as you do on the forum.

El Loro

I see your concern about Emptybox being missing

If he belongs to a private message that you do, then you could post a message to him there. If his settings are set to receive email notifications for PMs, then an email will be sent to him.

Another way is to send a mention to him. Do that by typing @ Emptybox (without the space) in this thread as part of a post for him. Again, an email is sent to him if his settings are set for this (the default is on).

If there's no response and you can't contact him any other way, you might sent a mention to Lori, the administrator, to see if she can make contact though that's when all else has failed,

I thank you so much El Loro for your help there.

I will try what you suggest.

As you can see, we are just so puzzled and worried by his disappearance, as in all the years he has posted with us, Emptybox rarely missed a day, and if he was going away , told us he was.

Thank you again for your help.
