Evening.
Mildish here again today but dull. Have had my electric fire on tonight. Will need to start the central heating soon.
Managed to install an alternative operating system on my PC, after a struggle.

Don't think my tooth is going to settle down. Seems to be getting worse if anything. If I push on it with my finger it is sore on one quarter. The other three quarters seem OK. That suggests a crack in the root to me.
Also now getting a bit of toothache as well. So I'll inevitably have to contact the dentist.

The dentist recommended the crown over a filling, as he said it was a tried and tested method, and gave the best chance of saving the tooth. He thought a filling wouldn't have lasted long.
Wish I'd chosen the filling now.

Hicky. That's good that you are getting on with your greenhouse framework.
The glucosamine I take is the 1500mg one. I take it once a day.
It's this one, but I got it from the local health food shop.
https://www.greenlife.co.uk/products/natures-aid-glucosamine-sulphate-1500mg

That's good that Hamilton won. Puts him further ahead in the Championship.

Mollie. Yes the six chair challenge on X Factor is a bit of a mess, with people being given a chair, then a few minutes later having to give it up again.
Pity the care call before your Mum's is compromising your Mum's care. As you say you don't want to make trouble for hard worked staff, but you must make sure your Mum is OK. A difficult one?
Glad you got a nice warm day.

emptybox

Evening Mollie.

A warmish quiet day really, 15c cloud and sunny spells, wind down at 10.

It seemed like a nice day so started doing more work in the greenhouse, fitted the back left corner ally frame that will hold the supports between the 2 sides, i can't fit the sections in the last corner yet as the cucumber plant is in the way, for now.

Cooked 2 of those big hot dog sausages, wow, thats a brekkie on it's own.

Put the Gammon Shanks on to soak at 10am for 4 hours then changed water and brought to boil and simmered for 2 hours, wow, don't you get a lot of gammon, we had a shank each, had it with some tomato's and mustard.

Had a small tin of mixed fruit with cream to counteract the fat.

Hope Emptybox hasn't lost his broadband again.

Not surprised who left Strictly but glad Lewis won F2 in Japan.

Hicky

Hi Hicky. You always seem to miss seeing the first post on a new page for some reason?
Not bad day here either. Chilly this evening though.

Decided not to phone the dentist yet. Tooth hasn't been too bad today. Still sore to eat on it though, which is a nuisance. Will wait for a few days to see how it does.

That's good to get work done in your greenhouse while the weather is reasonable.
Glad you enjoyed your gammon.

Watched Jamie Oliver then Superfoods on CH4, then The Human Body on BBC2.

emptybox

Evening Emptybox.

Yes, i do miss the new page, nothing points me to it, i don't usually look at page numbers.

Not a bad day, 15c cloud and sunny spells, was expecting rain but it didn't arrive, probably on the next page.

We went to Birkenhead today, with having the Foot clinic at 11.40 so we went to Sports Direct for a light pair of walking shoes, got them then went to Vodafone to see about the mobile for abroad, mine is locked so he said he had sent me an unlock code, but it hasn't arrived so will have to look into it, we will have to get a new sim abroad to be able to use the phone as we are Pay as you go.

Then it was time to eat, nearly had some Chinese food in the food hall but the rice wasn't ready so i had a burger.

Feet are fine so she just trimmed my toenails as i can't really do them myself.

Did more tidying in the greenhouse, all ready to box off the rest of the framework as soon as we have another nice day, if i take out the 4 corner pieces of glass i can manage it all.

Just had a ribeye steak, smeared in Madras paste before i cooked it, had it with halved baby mushrooms and microwave chips, added some Lime pickle as i like it.

I would tell the dentist that it hurts if you chew on the tooth, i certainly don't think it should, something seems wrong to me.

One response on the web when i asked the question about crown pain:

CAUSES OF TOOTH CROWN PAIN

Crowns cause pain for a number of reasons. If your crown was fitted without having a root canal procedure to remove the tooth pulp, it could be putting pressure on a traumatized nerve. And unless the bite, also known as occlusion, is perfectly aligned, a patient who grinds his or her teeth during sleep could experience pain from pressing down on any high spots or areas where the tooth is higher than it should be. Another cause of pain comes from previous fillings, particularly those made from silver, may have had leakages resulting in bacteria infecting the nerve root.

-----------------------

It also seems that if the alignment of the top and bottom tooth are not right that can give pain when eating.

One things for sure, you shouldn't be having any type of pain.

EDIT: Meant to say, o/h got an email saying it was from BT, saying that the payment hadn't gone through and that you needed to access the account using your normal login details, she showed me the email, i said, do nothing while i chexk things out, got onto the bank system that pays the bills and all seemed fine so looked further at the email and tried to find the address that it came from, i found it and it was a load of gibberish and on the end said /bt, very clever these people are getting.

sorry that damn crown is still bothering you, teeth problems are so annoying. Yes best to not use that side and see if it settles down as it was a bit better yesterday. Then go back if it doesn't.

Must be a bit chilly if you needed your fire now. I guess we are well into October though. It still seems incredible mild here for October. But was wet on and off. And the "on" times just seemed to happen to be when I was out in it! So I got soaked a couple of times today.

How are you doing work wise? Are you pretty much up to date?

Well done settling your pc thing.

Hicky

Gosh your BT thing goes to show how carefull we have to be of these online scammers now!

That's good your feet are fine and you have your walking shoes now all ready for your hols. Sports Direct at least have lots of choice.

Hope you can sort your phone out ok.

That was nice of you to ask about tooth crowns for Emptybox.

Had a busy day involving 4 bus rides. My private carer and I just turned up at the  agency office and asked to see boss of agency today. She is so nice and was upset at how her carers have been. She agreed they should not be cutting mum's call short and not seeing to her properly, so said she would sort it.

They have now put a little electronic time thing in that shows exactly when they arrive at the flat and when they leave, so we can check mum gets her full time at least.
But caring is the lowest paid job and the job most don't want to do, so unfortunately this sort of thing happens all the time.

I now need my glass of rose and Bake Off, I am finding the whole thing so stressful as mum is unable to speak, she can't say what concerns her, so it is up to me to sort. I am lucky my private carers are so good.
Have a good evening both xx
M

Evening both.
Drizzly start, but dried up quickly and not too cold. Windy this afternoon.
Got a couple of jobs done. Strimming, weeding, mowing etc.
Bit milder tonight. I haven't needed the electric fire.

Hicky. Thanks for researching the crown pain (have been doing some research myself as well).
Seems it's quite common to get pain after a crown, and it could be one of 4 things.
1. The nerve is traumatised by the drilling etc, but recovers by itself. No treatment needed
2. The nerve is so badly traumatised that root canal treatment is required to get rid of the nerve.
3. The bite is wrong or crown too high (prominent). Treatment is to buff off the surface of the crown so it is not interfering with your bite.
4. The tooth root is cracked. Treatment is to extract the tooth.

Needless to say, I hope it's 1. or 3. Wouldn't want to have root canal or lose the tooth. But i guess only the dentist could say for sure.

I'm thinking that if it's not better by Thursday (one week after it was fitted), then I'll contact the dentist to see if he'll check it.
Most of the time I'm not aware of it, only if I accidentally catch food on it when I'm eating. Then it tends to ache for a bit. Also it's still sensitive to hot and cold.

That's good that your feet were OK, and just needed a trim.
Yes, it must be complicated to figure out what sim cards will work abroad in your mobile phones.
There's more and more of these scam emails and phone calls. You have to be very careful nowadays.

Mollie. Pity you got caught out by the rain today.
Not too bad workwise. It's nearly the end of the season, so things have slowed down. Plenty of work to do yet though, before I hibernate for the winter.
Glad you had a productive meeting with the care agency, and it looks like your Mum will get her proper amount of time.

Watched Celebrity Hunted on CH4, which shows celebs trying to evade capture.
It has Steph and Dom from Gogglebox and Anneka Rice.
It's quite good fun, although a bit contrived.

emptybox

Evening Both.

A rubbish sort of day weatherwise, warm but just cloud and light rain, 16c with 15 wind

Didn't do much with it not worth working outside so imported o/h pictures to my puter from her phone and tablet.

The email form the man in the Vodafone shop never arrived so went onto Vodafone site and requested the unlock code, anyway that came in an email this morning, so tried to do same with o/h mobile but it doesn't seem so easy for her, it might be to do with where she bought it, it's the same phone as mine anyway, they say it might take 10 days.

Had bacon and egg toasted sandwiches for brekkie and colly cheese for tea with some toast.

Mollie, This carer problem is a constant worry for you, even more so now your mum is even lass able to help herself.

You say she can't speak, can she write, was wondering if she is able let ou know by any means.

I enjoyed the bake off, why don't they cool the place down, they can't cook in that heat, crazy, they should walk out, no guts.

Emptybox, Hope the tooth gives less problems, even being sensitive to cold/hot isn't right surely.

The Apprentice tonight.

With the unlock code for the phone i have to switch it off change sims and turn on again, i have a sim i got with the phone before i put the Vodafone one in but don't know if i can test that it unlocks with using the spare sim, don't want to mess things up.

Yes, the email the o/h got made her think it was from BT, i always first assume they are fake then try to prove they are real.

Just had a call from the doctors, they have a cancellation in the morning do i want it, sure do, 10.45, better than the 18th.

Hi Hicky.
Raining here all day. Very heavy at one point. Useless for work.
Better forecast for tomorrow, but probably a cold night.
Went into town to pick up my prescription. It was ready a week early this month for some reason.

That's good that your unlock code finally came. I think I needed one for a previous phone a few years ago. It worked fine, as far as I remember. Think the phone was locked to Orange though, so Vodafone might be different?

May put off contacting the dentist as tooth hasn't given me any twinges today. Having said that I've avoided eating with it, but I think the sensitivity is getting better.
Yes ideally I shouldn't have any pain or sensitivity, but unfortunately there's no magic wand to get rid of it.

Watched Location then The Apprentice.
Both those rooms looked more like teenagers' bedrooms than luxury hotel rooms.

emptybox

Evening Emptybox.

A beautiful day here, was hoping to work on the greenhouse in the morning sun but had to got to docs, o/h was taking her mum shopping so had to get a taxi, she said she would pick me up.

Got to the docs early at 10.30 but it said she was running late, taxi cost me ÂĢ10 as well, after i waited till 11.10 o/h rang, i told her i was still waiting so she said she would take her mum home and come back.

Got in to see the nurse/sister eventually, she went through all the countries needs on the screen, i need a Tetanus jab + 1 other but because my voice sounded strange and i have a slight temperature she wouldn't give me the jabs so tomorrow afternoon i have to see another nurse to see if i need antibiotics.

I will see the jab nurse on the 20th again.

Anyway as the weather was still ok i prepared to work in the greenhouse, i took out 4 large corner panes and 2 shaped ones and got started, i managed to get all the work done, so pleased with that then put all the glass back.

Never really had any brekkie, just a very small piece of toast so for tea i made a stirfry type meal with the gravy being curry, fried pepper, onion, mushroom, prawns and Tagliatelle, problem is i always make too much so had to leave some.

Sorry to hear you had so much rain, i would defo move before you need a boat to get to work.

If the unlock code doesn't work abroad i will get my lad onto the case he's pretty wise.

Glad the crown seems to be a bit better, hope it improves more.

Yes, i watched the Apprentice, amazed how you can get so many stupid people in such an amazing program, i thought the rooms looked awful, the furniture was crap, the stuff they bought to make the room inviting was dreadful.

He kicked that feller out because he thought himself above the team and L.S doesn't like that.

But the team leader should have gone, but he will be closely watched.

my friend came yesterday and she had had a crown done a week ago. She told me it was still sensitive and was avoiding using it, but her dentist told her that was not unusual, so she is just giving it time. So fingers crossed yours is ok, especially as it was feeling a bit better yesterday.

Glad you are not behind work wise now. Good job it is a bit milder so you can save on those utility bills. Hope the rain eased so you could get out today.

I too enjoyed The Hunted, the pair off Gogglebox were hilarous. I heard they offerred them IACGMOOH, but they said no as they couldn't do without their booze.

Hicky

oh dear that is a bit of a blow, having to pay ÂĢ10 for a taxi and then not been able to have the jabs done. Do you think you are going down with a cold, as you have a strange voice? At least they are checking if you need antibiotics. Could it be another water infection causing it I wonder? Hope they sort you out quickly. Very wise not to give you a jab though if you have a temperature. My son has got a cold now, probably from college. Daughter had one the other week and I have only just got rid of the cough I had.

That is lucky the greenhouse work went well as the weather held today.

Yes you don't want to mess the phone up trying to do the unlock codes, a pity it is so complicated.

My mum can't communicate at all other than the odd word, the dementia stripped her of that. She can't walk, speak, read or write any more. So is so vulnerable, which is why I have to monitor her care so closely. She can feed herself a little finger sandwich, and a drink sometimes, but other than that carers have to see to her. Sorting all her care out and being responsible for her is the hardest thing I have ever done. It is so stressful and tiring.

Today was supposed to be dry but I had to bring my washing in and out 3 times inbetween the showers!

I have been busy sorting mum's care again today. I might have the answer but need to check a few things. If possible I am going to get my private carers to do all the care as they know her so well, and I think I have enough of a team in place now. But it is complicated as I have to go through social services as they pay for part of it and have to check I have all in place.

Watching Supervet then the Manchester school programme.

Have a good evening both xxx

Evening both.
Dry here with some sunshine, but quite windy.
Was able to work anyway; mowing and hedge cutting etc.

Hicky. Pity you had to pay for a taxi and then couldn't get your jabs.
Hope you aren't coming down with something., and don't need more antibiotics.
At least you were able to get on with work in the greenhouse.

Mollie. It must be so stressful dealing with your Mum's care. Hope your plan gets accepted by social services.
That's good to know that your friend's crown is still bothersome after a week, as it's now a week since mine was done. I guess I'll give it a bit more time before I contact the dentist.
Pity you had showers today, that messed up your clothes drying.
I hear there might be high winds coming over the weekend.

Evening Both.

A cloudy day, warmish at 19c rain expected at 6pm, wind from 13 to 20.

Did a few more jobs in the greenhouse, making up the support lines which are 3mm plastic cord.

Have turned the watering system off for this year and moving some trees around in the winter so will have to change some of the understone pipework, i want to get the cherry and plum trees further away from the garage wall.

Also want to repot the Kiwi Berry vine as it did good this year and think it will appreciate having it's own water supply inside it's own tub.

Had a sausage sandwich and an egg one this morning, my shopping arrived, with a couple of ready meals i didn't order, o/h said well, you didn't order any meals, i said i have loads of food in the freezer.

Went to see nurse, she did all the tests and said it looks like a viral think with my throat, she said take paracetamol and drink plenty, and when you come next to see the original nurse next week, if your throats no better come and see me, i will be here Friday.

Just had some left over chicken leg meat on fresh bread, i had ordered a tiger bloomer, can't beat that bread, i didn't get it sliced as i would rather do that myself.

Mollie,  Thats awful when your mum can't communicate, it does mean that she is so much more reliant on anyone who is caring for her.

I had said to the nurse, should i bring a water sample in, she said, wrong half of the body.

I don't know whether to try the unlocking of my mobile with the sim i have, don't know what sim it is, it came with the phone, the phone probably came unlocked and Vodafone probably locked it.

Emptybox, Glad the weather allowed you to get some jobs done.

A hurricane passing by not to far away, oh dear, could be bad next week, but the weekend should be ok.

Emptybox

that's nice you got good weather and so some work done. Autumn and the changing colours can be so lovely when we get good weather.

Hope your tooth carries on settling down now. Yes my friend has had a couple of crowns and said they all took awhile to settle.

Hicky

seems we are all getting it quite warm for October.

All good for you to get your jobs done in the garden.

Oh well I guess it is best to have too much food than not enough, but you will have to clear a lot out before your hols.

Hope your virus clears up soon, there are a lot of these damn viruses around now. My poor lad is cheesed off as he had to miss Uni with a bad cold.

Yes hard to decide what to do with your phone.

Let's hope they have the good weather forecast right for this weekend.

Another stressful day sorting my mum's care out, but the social worker said she will back me with working out my private carers taking over. She is not sure how long it will take but hopes it will be quick.

This weekend I have used mum's money to pay extra so the private ones can get her up and put her to bed. So I know she will have A1 care all weekend.

Went out for tea to a nice pub with the family tonight as I have been so busy again today, but ended up after the meal with a type of indigestion spasm.... throat so painfull where i had the op and full of phlemn type stiff, and it lasted about half hour. Not sure if the meal was too much for me, (and I only ate half of it) but I have hardly eaten all week, or if it was an allergy, or just caused through stress.

Oh and overnight I got woken with awful cramp in my calf, so have been drinking some tonic water today, the quinine is supposed to help.

I will be very careful to just eat little and often tomorrow. Thank goodness the weekend is here.

Enjoying Gogglebox today.

Have a good evening both xx

M

Hi both.
Wet and very windy today, but quite warm. Useless for work though.
Got a big pile of ironing done, but not much else.

Hicky. I guess it's better that it's a virus you have rather than an infection.
Perhaps a reaction to your flu jab?
It's good that you've always got the interest of changing things around in the greenhouse and garden.
Don't think it matters when you do the unlocking of your phone, but would be useful to have a different sim to try, to check that it's worked.

Mollie. That's not good that you had painful indigestion or acid reflux. Probably related to the aftermath of your op, and the stress to do with caring for your Mum?
Sounds like you haven't been eating properly as well.
Cramp isn't nice either. I get some of that too.
Pity your son is off from uni with a bad cold.

Watched George and Larry Lamb, then 'A Celebrity Taste of Italy'.

emptybox

Evening both.

Not bad today, very little sun but not bad at 18c a few sunny spells, winds dropping form 15 to 8.

Just made a few more vine support plastic wires up for holding the growing vine vertical growth.

Had a nice brekkie, square sausage, bacon, mushrooms, hash browns and egg and toast.

Have just made a Lobster soup type thing, with onions, celery, tomato soup, a chicken stock cube a tablespoon of curry paste, put the 2 tail shells in as well, after cooking i used the rotary blade thing on it all then sieved it, after that i returned the soup to the pan and added half the lobster flesh cooked it then blitzed it again, chopping up the 2nd tail then cooking that, i put some rice in to thicken it a bit then a little cornflour, it was very nice, had it with some hot toast.

Oh, and i put some red wine in, just finishing the bottle off, it was only a small 187ml size though.

Going to see if i  can make something with some apples, got them coming out of my ears.

Mollie, My voice seems a lot better today, hope it is ok,

Strange about the meal and your throat pain, hard to say what the connection could be, don't think an allergy would go that quick.

I was getting the calf cramp in bed a while back, had to grab the foot and stretch the muscles to free the cramp, it's like they get out of place, i used to get it by the way i stretched my foot.

Strictly tonight, good, love it.

Emptybox, Yes, i agree, i should see if the unlocking works, i wonder what this sim is that came with the phone, i suppose i could try it.

I've ordered a new ball of nylon type twine as the big ball of course string i had this years has broken a few times so will get rid of it, i string that breaks is useless to me.

The greenhouse is almost clear of plants now, just a big boy tomato plant and a cucumber plant left, but i can move them around with them being in tubs.

I have ordered 2 types of bill dispensers for the holiday, i can then have each days already for me to take, day and night.

I have been watching video's of people showing the different foods of Singapore and Malaysia, very interesting.

Hicky

hope your weather was a bit better for you today. At least you got your ironing done though.

How is the tooth? Hopefully even if still senstive, it has got no worse?

Did you have a day off work today?

Hicky

That is good your voice is improving.

Hope your vine support works well.

glad you enjoyed your soup.

Yes that cramp sounds just the same as I get,it happens if I stretch my foot a certain way, and is painfull until I grab the foot and stretch it. So  I am drinking my tonic water again to try and keep it at bay.

All of my private carers today said things went a lot better, mum was more content with just my private ones today and without a lot of agency ones coming and going. I will at least be able to tell the soc worker on Monday that I tested the new method and it worked. I am still full of anxiety that I can get this done though as I just want to move on now ASAP for mum's sake.

Hardly ate today as was so worried the stress would set that horrible pain again.
But I was fine with the littie I did eat. (just a yogurt and a Quorn buger today).

Am enjoying X factor, but many of them do seem to be over doing it with the screeching!

On Strictly I am so glad to see Ruth is improving with her confidence, whilst enjoying it so much. I am not really interested in the experienced ones who we know were always going to get high scores, but it is nice to see a non dancer like Ruth progress so well.

Although quite dark and cloudy, it felt warmer today than some days in mid summer. OH's car showed 20 degrees! Can't believe it is mid October!

Have a good evening both.

Did you see these piccies of Sarah Harding?

http://galleryaloud.com/displa...13#top_display_media

I am so pleased to see her looking so happy with Chad, I so hope it lasts. I did think it would despite the distance between them.

Have a good evening both. xxx

Evening both.
Raining here most of the day, so I didn't get any work done.
Have noticed a lot of the tomatoes in the greenhouse are now turning red, even though we haven't had much sunshine? Must be the milder weather I suppose.

Hicky. That lobster soup sounds delicious.
Glad your voice is a bit better.
Yes, Twine is no good in the garden if it keeps breaking. I've had a big ball in the greenhouse that I've used for years, but it now just snaps, so is useless.
Good idea to get pill dispensers for your trip.

Mollie. Pity you are still off your food with the stress and worry. But at least things went well with the private carers today.
Sounds like it was very warm for you there today.
Yes I saw those pics of Sarah going over to see Chad. She came back to the UK after about a week, and is now on a girls' break to Dubai (I think?).

Not sure about the tooth? Doesn't seem to be getting any better. Also I am feeling a little 'off', but not sure if it's down to my prostate thing or the tooth, or the fact I have a cold? Off my food slightly and have a little lack of energy.
I guess if it's due to the tooth it'll make itself known?
Most likely down to my prostate thing though, as it's very like the symptoms I had at the beginning of that (but not as bad), and is worse some days than others. (first noticed it on Tuesday)

Quite liked some of the girl groups on X Factor.

Evening Both.

Not too bad a day, 17c with sunny spells, dry and 12 winds.

Went out for brekkie, standard food, had baked spuds with a big piece of fresh salmon which i fried, very tasty.

Made an apple crumble as i so many apples, have to do some thing with them.

will be making some Raspberry and apple jam considering all the apples.

Have been altering the support cords on the outside vine to make it more manageable next spring, will also be altering the way certain canes lie because i had so much growth this year, some canes grew 2 metres.

Still picking raspberries but will be cutting the canes down soon.

Mollie, I was watching GP's and i saw a person with the same symptoms as me, and the doc said it was probably a viral condition, same as me then.

Glad the private carers worked out ok for you.

Maybe you need to make sure whatever you eat is relatively small so it can't irritate your throat, and various soups would be fine.

Ruth was better this week but i'd prefer to watch the good ones, there are 5 in the drop zone, and as long as the good ones don't go but soon it will be down to the fan base.

Sarah Harding really showed us her weak spots when she was on BB, hope it works out for her, she's needs some stability in her life.

Emptybox, I think maybe the toms know the weather is changing and they need to produce seeds for the earth.

This is the nylon string, it is strong as well, will throw the other big ball away, https://www.amazon.co.uk/Outus...TBSFKABS020T9BA0M5FP

Sorry to hear your not feeling 100%, teeth and prostate are always a worry, and a cold, hope they all improve anyway.

I wonder who will go from Strictly tonight, hope it's not Simon, always watch him cooking Sunday morning.

Hicky

Hi Hicky.
Kind of drizzly and dull here today, but not too cold, out of the wind.
Gathered all the excess tomatoes and made another batch of soup. There's still some left for salads and the like, for a few more weeks.
Think I'll get in contact with the dentist tomorrow, because the tooth isn't improving and I've had a bit of toothache tonight.
Good thing is, my appetite seems to be OK today.

Good idea to make a crumble with your excess apples.
That's good that you are still picking rasps now.
That string does look strong. Not really gardening twine though?

Watched most of X Factor (started too early for me), then the last in the present series of Victoria. Mollie will have to wait till the Xmas special to see her again.

Hope the hurricane blows through without causing any damage for you two. Seems the west coast may take the brunt.

Evening Emptybox.

A windy start to the day with winds at 20 changing to 40 to 53 in the afternoon.

It was so dark this morning i couldn't see my keyboard at 8.30 am, and that was with the blinds open.

The temperature was 20c and had some sunny spells during the day.

Just had 2 little waffles with jam on for brekkie.

Didn't do any work as i was bothered about stuff getting blown around, the wind blew the cover off the swing with the big concrete block that was on the seat, it hurled the block as if it was balsa wood.

Hope it doesn't blow all the apples off the trees as they are ripe.

Getting all the stuff ready to make the jam, have ordered new seal lids.

Have ordered clamps to fasten the ends of the 3mm plastic cord that i use for strainers for the vines.

Cooked a boned lamb shoulder before, do for sandwiches tomorrow.

Yes, a good idea to make soup with the excess toms, I've got a couple of big ones in the greenhouse that don't want to go red.

I agree about the cord i bought, far too thin, just didn't realise, will order some thicker stuff.

Didn't watch X-Factor, don't like the 6 seat challenge, enjoyed Strictly though, always sad when someone goes.

I won't really know what damage is done until the morning, hope it will be ok.

Edit: Very pleased with this new tablet, no idea how it stopped the bleeding from the blood vessel, like a miracle.

Evening Hicky.
Very dark and wet here this morning, but quite light winds. Some sunshine late afternoon, but I didn't get out to work.
The wind is getting up this evening though.

Called the dentist first thing and got an appointment early afternoon.
He didn't think there was much wrong. He buffed a bit off the surface of the tooth which he thinks might improve the 'bite', and applied some of that 'varnish' stuff to try to reduce the sensitivity. But he thinks it's just a matter of giving it more time to settle down.

I did ask whether he thought the root could be cracked, but he said it was unlikely.
So unless I get raging toothache, I guess I'll just have to put up with eating on the other side for the time being.
At least it put my mind at rest a bit I suppose.

The wind must have been strong by you, to move that concrete block? Hope it doesn't do any more damage.
I see a few have been killed by the storm in Ireland.

Sounds like you are all ready for your jam making.
That's great that the new tablet is working well. It must be shrinking the blood vessels in what's left of the prostate.

Not sure what's on TV tonight, will look when I go downstairs to make my supper.
Not sure what's on the menu there either.

Pity your tooth has still not settled down, but at least the dentist could offer you reassurance this often happens. (it did to my friend and I). But of course the dentist never tell you before they do the work that it takes so long to settle, do they? Hope it won't take too long to go now, but yes best to use the other side to give it time to settle.

How are your symptoms today? Do you think it was a cold or the usual problem lurking? Hope you feel a bit better today.

Glad to hear your tomatoes have done so well this year.

Yes indeed, I will miss Victoria on Sundays now, but that clip we saw of the Christmas episode looks lovely, so seasonal and snowy too.

Hicky

Oh I love applie crumble, and I bet your apples make good ones.

Yes that GP show is so interesting espeically when we see similiar things to those that are bothering us. So how is your virus symptoms now? Hope it is clearing up.

We had that funny darkness this morning too, then it went real warm and sunny this afternoon, so I got a quick read in the swing chair, which was great for this time of year.

Hope the wind does not do too much damage there. It is not really very windy here, not sure if it will get windy later.

Sounds like you are all ready for the jam making now.

still busy trying to sort mum's care out. First of all the soc worker thought it would take 6 months! Oh no!! Next time I spoke to her, she said she hoped to push it through in a few weeks.Phheww I hope so.  I have a meeting with her on Thursday. Fingers crossed we can sort it ASAP.

Am watching the final of Liar, a great series it has been too.

Goodnight both xxx

Hi Mollie.
Hope the social work situation gets sorted out sooner rather than later.

Haven't had symptoms today, so fairly sure it was the prostate thing that comes and goes. I've still got a cold, but appetite fine today and not feeling run down.
Of course the prostate symptoms could always come back tomorrow. That's the nature of the condition.

No, the dentist sold me the crown on the basis that it was a "tried and tested" method for saving the tooth. If I'd known it would take this long to settle I might have thought twice.
I would now be reluctant to get another crown I think.

It was really dark this evening. I was closing my curtain at about 7.30pm and couldn't see a hint of light in the sky, which is very unusual.

Evening Both.

Not bad today, a reasonable Tuesday, o/h brought a tiger bloomer in for me, had bacon and egg sandwiches for brekkie.

Gave my neighbour 6 Red Falstaff apples, 7 Sunset, 2 Braeburn, 2 very big tomato's and a cucumber, meant to give her a bunch of grapes but forgot.

The cucumber plant has started growing again, got flowers and cucumbers growing.

Cut the tomato plant down, also cut down 7 fruit tree's, 3 Gage, the peach, plum and the mulberry as they are under-producing, and the Asian pear as no-one really likes it, such a pity, it is so juicy but so light a flavour.

Have been working on the external vine support system, am changing the fixed cross supports so they can be removed or changed positions for more flexibility while they are growing.

Had some stuffed olives with shrimps midday and now just had fries, lamb and lime pickle, had a tin of rice pudding for afters.

Mollie, Not too sure how my virus is, don't do a lot of talking during the day really, have no pain or problems with it.

O/H put the cover back on the swing last night, and put 4 concrete blocks on the foot of the cover to keep it in place, the blocks are 14kg each, this morning the cover was off, the swing had moved along the decking and the blocks had been thrown off, some wind that.

O/H wants me to change Medical centres after Christmas, she's not happy with this one, too many problems.

Emptybox, Glad you got to the dentist, hope it soon calms down,

So sad to hear that people died in Ireland, so many stayed in to be safe but many can't stay out of the weather.

Yes, can't believe the difference 1 tablet can make, it's doing the job, it took a couple of days yet they said it would take 2 months to have any effect.

It's dark so early now, and the mornings are dark as well, roll on Spring.

Hicky

glad you had no symptoms today , let's hope that cold doesn't hang around for too long now. There is a lot of them around now we are into autumn. Do you have a cough with it? My cough after my recent cold was a nuisance, took weeks to go. And it has been the same for my son.

And I hope that crown settles soon too.

Did you get out for work today?

Hicky

gosh the wind must of been strong by you if the concrete blocks weren't strong enough to hold things in place.

We haven't had much wind at all , the dog and I managed a little sit in the sun again today. Not for quite so long as it was a bit cooler today though.

How lovely it must be to be your neighbour with all that fresh produce you give them.

That is great news that the tablet suited you so much. Amazing really how quickly it helped you out.

Yes getting so dark now. Good job we have Christmas lights around in December to brighten up the dark.

But HIcky, of course it is not so bad for you this year, as you will be having a good taste of summer when you go away.

So nice today, I got lots of washing dried.

Cooked a roast dinner for family with yorkshires too.

Time for Bake Off, looking forward to Celebrity Hunted, Steph and Dom were so funny last week.

Goodnight both xxx

Evening both.
Very high winds overnight and all through this morning.
No damage to speak of. A bird table was blown over, but that was easy to put back up.
It calmed down after lunch and a bit of sun came out, so I went out to start some work, but within half an hour the rain came on heavy, so I had to abandon work.

Shouldn't have mentioned the prostate thing possibly coming back, because that's just what happened. But it was the peeing symptoms this time.
The tooth seems a bit more comfortable today. That varnish stuff seems to take the edge off the sensitivity.

Hicky. That's quite a cull you've had of your trees? I suppose it gives you the opportunity to buy new ones?
You're very generous to your neighbour with all that produce.
Sounds like you've had some more strong winds, moving your swing.
Yes, it hasn't seemed your doctors' surgery hasn't been very efficient. Probably a good idea to explore a move to another one if possible.

Mollie. Glad you haven't had much wind, and even managed a seat in the sun for a while.
I haven't really had a cough with this cold yet. More a stuffed up nose and sneezing.
Surely your mind isn't turning to Christmas lights already?

Watched GBBO then Celebrity Hunted. I enjoy that but can't help thinking it's a bit set up? I mean why were Steph and Dom dragging their feet getting away from that house? They seemed to pack and unpack that car more than once?

Oh dear at the weather meaning you had to abandon work afer such a short period of work. Hope you managed to get a bit more done today.

Sorry the symptoms are bothering you again, but good job the tooth problems sounds like they are finally settling down. Do you think stress over the tooth discomfort could of unsettled your body and bought on your symptoms, plus the fact you have had a cold too? Good job at least you have not been left with a cough.

HOpe you feel better soon.

Hicky

hope you can manage to change GP's ok, as you say they have not been very good where you are.... all that messing about when you needed anti biotics was bad, as was the fact you had to get someone you knew to chase up the hospital appointment.

Did you get in your garden today? Hopefully the wind has gone now for you to do so.

Had to sort lot of paperwork out today as I have a meeting with social worker tomorrow.

Watched GP show, now the Apprentice.

Have a good evening both xx

M

Hi Mollie.
A damp dull day here, but I got a few jobs done anyway. It was slightly drizzly at times and the grass was soaking wet all day, but needs must....

There's no doubt that stress brings on my symptoms. Not so much the discomfort of the tooth, but I was convinced I would need the tooth out or need root canal work, plus I've got a long journey coming up that I'm not looking forward to (tell you about that nearer the time).
Symptoms not bad today, but they come and go.

Hope your social service meeting goes well tomorrow.
I watched the same programmes.
What a mess up, getting the name of the robot wrong. And mis-spellings in their publicity board.

Evening Both.

Did i forget to post yesterday, strange.

Anyway, a very dull day today 14c cloud and rain. wind 14

We went to the recycle place yesterday with lots of rubbish

Didn't do much today, have ordered new lids for the jars i use for the jam, think you are not supposed to reuse the seal lids, will wait for the lids before i make the jam.

Been watching video's of cast net fishing from some countries, they don't seem to use them here but you can buy them, also been watching video's of people in the Lobster restaurants with Lobster Buffet, wow.

Bought one of those electric tooth brushes, it came yesterday, used to have one years ago, they are so good.

Got Nurse tomorrow and dentist as well.

Mollie, Not going to change GP's till the new year, don't want to get in a mess just now.

I will try and get the gardener next week some time, i want to move around some trees, easier with help.

I enjoyed the Apprentice, hopeless isn't the word.

Emptybox, I don't think i will be replacing any trees, it's an opportunity to sort them out, some need more space.

O/H had your jab today, she only needed the Tetanus one, so i'll see if i can get away with just that.

My new cord came, ordered the 3mm nylon braid, that will do me.

I thought both teams had messed up on The apprentice, heaven knows how the Girls won, it was such a shambles.

glad you got some work done, sounds like it is hard going now the ground is getting wet though.

Yes I did think there might of been a connection between the tooth stress and your symptoms. (also you being below par with a cold).

Hopefully the tooth problem will ease on its own now.

Good job the symptoms have eased again.

Yes they were useless on Apprentice last night, such basic mistakes.

Hicky

hope the nurse visit goes ok tomorrow. Is this to check about your jabs and if the virus has gone? And good luck at the dentist too. I reckon you deserve brekkie out after that??

Yes probably best to leave the GP change till after your hols as it could get complicated. Hope the gardner has some free time to help you with your trees.

Yes the Apprentice girls were useless as well, spent far too much time arguing instead of just getting on with it!

Been out all day, tired now. Saw social worker and she is hoping to bring the change over in asap for me. Lots of paperwork she had to fill in. Went to Cardiff in the afternoon and met family there. Got mum some new clothes from Primark and some new winter PJ's with unicorns on for me.

Watched Supervet, now watching Manchester school.

Then a read of my magazine in bed.

I have a docs appointment tomorrow about the x ray and blood tests I had a month ago! It is a month wait to get a non urgent gp appointment now!

Have a good evening both xxx

M

Hi both.
Similar day to yesterday here, dull and soaking wet grass. But at least the rain held off till this evening.
Got a few more lawns cut, probably for the last time this year.

Hicky. Good luck with the nurse and dentist tomorrow.
Not sure why you shouldn't reuse jar lids, if you wash them properly?
Yes electric toothbrushes are good. I've been using one for a couple of years.
Hope the new cord that you've ordered does the job.

Mollie. Sounds like a tiring day, with social worker meeting and Cardiff visit.
Hope you like your unicorn PJs.
Yes I watched Supervet as well.

Will be away for a few days. I'm coming down to Norfolk to see my Aunt and Uncle (both mid eighties). It's a 6 hour drive, so that's what I'm not looking forward to.
Also they have no internet and no TV and no mobile phone signal inside the house, so very boring for me, and I'll probably not be able to come on here while I'm away.
So see you on the other side.

emptybox

Evening Both.

A cloudy day today, 14c but with 14 wind as well.

My shopping arrived ok, then got ready for doc, was thinking about the dentist while in bed and it came to me that they used to be closed Friday, so checked when i got up and it was the way she had put the 6, it had a big circle and i had taken it as 20 and it was 26.

Got my jab but nurse was concerned about my voice so gave me a walking letter to take to the x-ray dept so we went straight to one with a free car park and do it straight away, that was very fast, just walked in got x-rayed and was out again.

Didn't do much else, F1 practice 1 on at 3.55 p2 at 7.55, should be a good weekend with F1 and Strictly, very strong winds tomorrow night which is a bit worrying again.

Mollie, Will try and get the gardener sometime next week, got 6 tubs to move around, not sure what to do with the 7 tubs that have got tree stumps, they are so heavy and have got them on their side to see if i can get some of the water to drain, might have to get them out of the tub to try and dry the roots.

Hope the x-ray and blood tests are ok, good on you for getting stuff from Primark, unicorns, hope they don't stick in you.

Emptybox, I suppose the reason you are supposed to renew the lids each time is that with most seals, you shouldn't use them twice, you can't sterilise them and washing in soapy water isn't really going to kill bacteria, the seal is part of the lid so i have to get the lids, they are sold in packs of twelve and they aren't expensive, if it was just for me it wouldn't matter really but i give most away to others.

With the dentist not being for another week it gives me time to decoke the teeth.

The new cord will act as string, i have other balls of string, the type that you use for putting around meat, like what the butchers use, but for in the garden i'm sure this 3mm braid will hold anything up and won't break with a bit of bad weather.

I was going to say enjoy your trip but with no internet and no TV and no mobile phone signal inside the house it could be a bit quiet, hope they aren't deaf anyway otherwise it would be a matter of getting a whiteboard out.

Hope you don't get caught in all these winds the weekend, they are going to be pretty severe.

Hicky

Evening All.

A rotten day, 14c cloud and rain, very windy, 17 to 55 till tomorrow night.

Didn't do much, had bacon/egg for brekkie, was going to make a spag bol for tea but o/h cooked a belly pork joint so we had that.

Just collected a bucket of leaves from the fig trees as they are rather big.

Been watching F1 practice 3 and poll positioning is at 9pm on C4.

Strictly on in a few minutes, so hope you enjoy that.

Hicky

Hicky

good job you realised before you got there that the dentist date was wrong.

Hope you have been feeling ok after your jab.

That is lucky the x ray was so quickly sorted. Do you have to phone the doc or go to the doc for the result? How did the nurse know your voice was different, does she know you well so knows your normal voice? Or did she think you sounded hoarse?

I have had to wait 4 weeks for a docs appointment for my result. But my doc said the x ray showed my old tyroid problem had not grown back, which is good and the blood tests were ok, but there had been some signs of an infection low in the lungs, which explains that cough I had for about 4 weeks. She said as the cough had more or less gone now, it should be ok to leave it untreated.

Yes if you have heavy tubs to move, best to get the gardner in.

It was wet and windy here too today.

We went to Costco and enjoyed the free food samples, then I had jacket potoat with beans/cheese for lunch.

I too am watching the Dancing now. I am pleased it finishes the same time as X factor starts as I usually get to miss the end of it when I turn over for X factor.

Last night we saw a concert from old X factor/BGT contestants. Rhydian was the singer and Richard and Adam were the brothers who sang on BGT. It was a very good concert, and a sell out. I enjoyed some rose wine, and some choccie whilst there, as with the docs visit I hadn't had time for tea.

Yes sounds like a quiet weekend for Emptybox with no high tech gadgets available.

And  not a good choice of weekend for him to do such a long drive. Hope he didn't find the journey too tiring.

Have a good evening. xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

A very windy day here so didn't do much outside, went out for brekkie, and made a chicken roast just before.

Just waiting for the F1 to start on C4.

Yes, very lucky with the dentist, would have felt such a clown.

Been fine after the jab, so far anyway.

I probably should go and see a doc about the x-ray, o/h said if there was a problem they would have told me to see someone by now.

It was just that one of the nurses said my voice was hoarse, o/h said it had been like that for years.

Glad your x-rays seem to say you are ok, sounds like you should have had antibiotics some time ago, didn't know infection cleared on their own.

That was a worthwhile trip to Costco, free food and a Lunch, good stuff.

I haven't watched x-factor, have gone off it, according to the Strictly betting i'm pretty sure i know who was kicked out.

That was nice seeing the concert, wine and choccies, wow, you are spoilt.

Yes, bad weather for driving, poor MTBOX no anything, except boredom.

Hicky

Hicky

glad you are ok after the jab.

If your voice has been like that for years, maybe the nurse is wrong and there is nothing wrong? I should think they would contact you if there is a problem. My doc said she would.

But as you say, I don't understand why my doc said there was a sign of a small lung infection, but it didn't need anything as she wasnt' concerned about it. If I start coughing a lot again, I will go to docs though now I know the xray showed that.

Windy here too today, and we too went for brekkie at the Weatherspoon pub. Real good value for what you pay. Did you go to the garden centre for yours?

I think it is silly how they record the dancing results on the Saturday and then show it the next day and pretend it is not the same day! So I can't be bothered watching the results show.

I enjoyed X factor tonight, especially pleased Lloyd got through to the lives. He has a great voice and was at son's do in Cardiff a few weeks ago, presentling the prizes. He didn't say anything though, I think he was quite nervous, but all this stardom thing would be new to him I guess.  I narrowly missed my chance of a photo with him as I was scared of following him and falling over in my going out shoes. He is from the valleys near us. I guessed he had done well on the show else they wouldn't of asked him to present the prizes.    However my family were still sitting tense tonight till the end of the show to see if he got through, as he was on last.

Looked after mum all afternoon , stayed in with her as it was windy and she hates the wind. I got her a portion of cod from the local chippy and she ate it all. I had to hand feed her bit by bit so it took me a couple of hours though!

Yes I bet it is rather boring for poor Emptybox with no techy stuff or tv. Maybe he will be glad of the rest though after such a long drive. Wonder when he is due back?

Goodnight Hicky, hope to see Emptybox back soon. xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

Still some wind but it's dropping, warm at 16c but some rain, cloud and sunny spells.

Wanted to spray my trees but the wind dropped too late.

The gardener said he would drop in so i can show him my plans, but moving 12 trees around could be quite a big job.

With so much growth on the outside vine i will do some training with some of the spare canes, some canes grew over 2 meters so instead of cutting some down to an inch i will train them along other supports on the support system.

The problem with infections now, they are so scared, the infections are winning and before long the antibiotics won't work, so unless it's serious they may hold them back.

They have been over prescribed in the past and with so much use on the farms it is a massive problem, i do know of people that went in hospital with a small problem and came out with incurable infections, that is so worrying.

We didn't go to the garden centre, we went to a cafe in Hoylake, they do a fantastic breakfast, and you get it quicker.

Yes, crazy BBC1 saying the Sundays show is a Sunday show, if i look at the betting i can see who has gone because they can't put odds up for someone that isn't in the competition, so i knew who had been evicted Sunday morning.

I didn't watch X-Factor, gone off it really, don't like the format.

You don't want to go falling in those shoes, oh dear, that wouldn't be good.

If you have no TV, broadband, phone signals what is left in life, it's like being marooned on a desert island, i would write 'HELP' in stones in the back garden.

He'll be back soon, unless they don't have petrol stations as well.

Hicky

Good Evening.

Not too bad really today, 16c but cloud and threatening rain which came to nothing, light winds.

The gardener came, very pleased, he took the tree roots out of 7 trees, we moved 12 tree tubs to new positions, have moved more apple trees into a line, same with the pears, moved the 6 cherry and plum trees away from the side of the garage so i can walk all round now also paint the garage wall.

Have a lot of tidying up to do now, lots of changes to the watering system, lots of slate to move around as well.

Ordered the meds i need while i am away online, hope they approve.

Had bacon and tomato on toast for brekkie and just boiled rice to have with a beef Madras from the freezer, love making them to freeze.

Hicky

Hicky

pity it was too late to spray your trees by the time the wind dropped yesterday.

But your gardner certainly got a lot done today by the sound of it. Hope the weather stays ok so you can do the tidying you want to do.

Emptybox still not back then, hope you did not spot those stones spelling HELP then. And let's hope he does find a petrol station as it is a long walk home for him!

Good idea to order all the meds now as your holiday time will soon be here with it being November next week.

Me and daughter went food shopping in Tescos today, We had a bit of lunch there, I had an veggie burger and chips but it was a bit too spicy for me. Didn't mind as I wasn't too hungry today. Been raining most of the day today. hope it improves.

Watched Bake Off. I wanted Liam to win, so it was a shame he left last week.

Goodnight Hicky, hope we see Emptybox back safely soon. xxx

M

Evening Mollie

Not bad today so it allowed me to get a lot done in the garden, 14c with sunny spells all day, winds 12 ish.

Was tidying all day, putting the piping bsack for the trees and the bamboo cane supports, moving and raking the slate into places that some tree tubs had been, they stand in big saucers on a board made from decking, it's a 2 x 2ft square section.

Picking up leaves as well, saw lots with moving the trees, and of course i now have spare tubs and saucers etc.

Had fried mash for brekkie with sausage, bacon and fried egg, for a change, during the day i had shrimps mixed with crab meat, for tea i had a Steak and Kidney Pie.

I was going to spray the trees today but a bit too much wind again.

The online site say meds accepted so i will wait a day or so and see if the pharmacy has the order.

Strange the vegy burger was so spiced, have you had one before?

Yes, Emptybox should be back soon.
