Evening.

Dull but mild here. Got another tidying up job done, was raking up a carpet of leaves on a lawn. Surprisingly there's still quite a few leaves left on the offending tree, so might have to have a second go sometime later.

It's not a reindeer competition Mollie....but....Frodo's is bigger and flashier....
Hope your friend was OK?

I hope it's Matthew that leaves IAC tonight. He hasn't come across well at all on the show. Mind you, I don't particularly like him on his own show either.

Was a bit worrying hearing about the RBS problems yesterday, as I have an account with them, but I checked this morning, and all my standing orders and direct debits seem to have gone through OK yesterday.

Really stupid of them to have the same problems again after promising that it wouldn't happen again after the last time they messed up.

I'll have to rethink where I keep my account.

Good Evening Everyone.

Been busy today.

O/H wanted the new Christmas Tree mounting in the front corner of the house.

She has put white & red 12mm round LED lights on the tree, 300 in all.

Put the fascia on the gazebo so thats another job done.

Cleaned the car out with the vacuum cleaner.

Made a Chicken Roast this afternoon when the light was going to fade.

Loving IAC, think they are setting Amy up, they are so jealous they are trying to stop her winning.

Joey is down to win but you never can tell.

Liking the Advent thingies girls,

Emptybox, thats bad about RBS bank, what happened, was it an update that went wrong?.

You talking about leaves, my front was 1ft deep in places, have filled the wheelie bin.

Mollie, Frodo, great having you back here, your posts are on the other page and can't remember what you were saying.

Dare not go back as my post will disappear i think.

Hicky

LOL....well if i were to knit it, you would certainly have a long, long wait for it.

Mine (that I bought from Primark) has bells on it that really ring, so I think I will drive myself mad.

Yes indeed if it was to be a reindeer competion, then not only is Fredo's smarter than mine, it is a lot bigger. Must be all the home made bread she feeds it on.

I am with Nat West too... drive me mad they do, tried to use them online Thursday and their site was down, so had to go into town to the bank, now this yet again.   They need to spend the tax money we kindly donated them on updating their IT system, instead of giving themselves big bonuses.

M

Fredo.

your qourn pie sounds yummy. Much better than the ready made ones I buy.

You are no scrooge if you want to stay home for Christmas. At least you can relax and do what you want, when you want then.

no trimmings up yet here, think I will wait till OH is home, else clumsy me might do myself a mischief.

Loved IAC tonight, lots of laughs, and far less negativity from the inmates as there was less Amy/Lucy whinging scenes. And thanks to sweet David's encouragement, less Alfonso whinging too, and a lot of fun. Loved to hear the  Tom Jones music too. He was brilliant when we saw him in Cardiff a couple of years ago.

Steve was just hilarious doing that trial too, he is one of my faves, with his dry sense of humour. I think he could be one to watch, could be a contender for the final.

And plenty of Joey'isms to make us laugh....

Is a stick insect made out of wood, and with a brain?

when the kookerboro sang....what is that, is it a monkey?

Such a funny guy.

Rebecca is my fave girl, think she is very sweet natured.

Have a good evening all x

M

Hello again

missed most of to-nights show though faffing around ....got a lovely shade for the ceiling so pretty cream with a little pendant hanging down  ÂĢ2 from a Christmas fair

Yes Mollie I like Rebecca why she has a thing about her looks baffles me

a swimming champ OBE (Have I got that right ) curves where they should be

and I love Steve Davis and Amy Is one I like ,David a gent what can you say

a really good bunch ahhh Joey I love him Its been good all round.

Yes Hicky photos of your lights when you get around to It and your car ...your birthday soon ..Is It an early present to you .

Last but never least emptybox  will you be away for the festive season ?

the little cat still comes someone must have scared the daylights out of it cos I do not think It Is ferral ..I leave an entry in the back porch so It can get some shelter    ....night all take care

FM

Hi Hicky. You're very enthusiastic getting your tree up and doing your gazebo as well.

No idea what happened at RBS/NatWest? And more worryingly, they don't seem to know either. Sounds from the News that their IT systems are very rickity.

My lawn is covered with leaves again as well. I'll have to have a go at that sometime.

Hi Frodo. If you prefer to stay home at Christmas then you shouldn't feel guilty about that.

My Brother invites me every year (so far), but sometimes I feel I'd like to spend it at home on my own. But in the end the lure of a free feed wins out.

You may be surprised to learn that I've felt absolutely no temptation to get 'trimmed up' so far.

I wonder if your little cat is feral, or has an owner? Perhaps it goes round a number of houses?

Mollie.  Hope your Chrimbo jumper with bells doesn't confuse your poor doggy.

Yes Joey was quite funny tonight. And there seemed to be less tension in camp, apart from Lucy not wanting to join in the Carlton dance (whatever that is?).

Steve is one of my favourites as well.

Good Morning Everyone.

Not too bad a day here.

Slight drizzle early on, not cold though.

Yes Frodo, it's far better to stay at home for Christmas, i wouldn't fancy staying in someone else's house for a few days.

It's ok if it's a Hotel of course.

It sounds as though you haven't got one of the fast spud peeler's, i take about 10 seconds to peel one, but lately we just cut them in half lengthways and roast them with the chicken or meat, yummy.

I'm liking them all except Lucy, an awful woman.

Mollie, will take some pictures for here, Gazebo completed except for the roof tiles and the guttering, have got the big tarpaulin over at the mo to keep some rain out.

I don't believe they tested that trial, no way could anyone get all the stars with the foot rests being retracted, ridiculous.

Joey is a scream, the things he says.

still liking Amy though.

Emptybox, I don't know how long my front will stay without leaves, think most of them have fallen from the trees now.

Wonder who will be next out of the jungle?

The betting has Alfonso & Lucy next.

Hope it's Lucy.

Hicky

all

day 4 of our advent calendar, and today I thought we would have a pretty Christmas tree, as Hicky's home decorations are up, and sound so nice.

Fredo

love your piccie of the snowman juggling his baubles.

well done on your bargain pendant buy at the Christmas fayre. I love Christmas Fayres, we always go to the cats home one, as you can buy some nice stuff that people donate to help the poor cats that have no home.

Aaaww you are so sweet looking after your cat visitor so well. I wonder if Emptybox's suggestion could be right, I know some cats do go from house to house, especially if they have owners who put them out all night. I think it is cruel to put cats out in the cold all night.

I was worried about our little bunny over the weekend, he seemed really off and he has lost weight. But read up on it, and as he is classed as a geriatric bunny, he needs to be kept extra warm, and given extra pellets to stop weight loss. He seems brighter now, because as you can guess, his room is the only one in the house that is warm 24/7 now and he is getting fed small portions more often now.

Emptybox

We need to send Hicky round to Nat West to sort their IT out. Idiots, they are, thinking they can cut back on their IT (but not their bosses wages/bonuses of course).

LOL at the reason for the lure to visit your brother over Christmas. Nothing like a good feed at Christmas.

I bet it won't be long until you get your trimmings out, I think yours looked so cute when you showed us the pics.

I too am not sure what a carlton dance is.   But it was good to see them having fun. ... apart from Lucy, what a moaner, hope she goes next.

Hicky

will look forward to seeing your pics then.   You have done well completing your gazebo already.   It was lucky the weather has been fairly dry recently, so you could get on with it.

Forgot to tell you about my busy weekend....

Friday went to Cardiff with daughter, to meet OH on his way back home for the weekend..., it was manic in the shops, so didn't do much, other than have a sweet potato burger and sweet potato chips in Ed's Diner.   Very nice.

Saturday afternoon, whilst OH took son to his next music exam, I went with son and daughter to a little Christmas do in our local town, one of my son's friends from the drama group sang under the bandstand, the local band played to carol singing, and the panto staff came in their bright funny costumes and did a funny song. Very nice, and all for free.   I wore my Christmas penguin hat to keep me nice and warm.   Emptybox...I bet you are tempted now to get a Christmas hat, aren't you?    On Sunday afternoon, OH, son and me went to Cardiff to see the John Wilson orchestra. There are around 70 in the orchestra and they play old MGM film music. Very good, but OH was so tired, he kept dropping off to sleep.

Looking forward to IAC and double Corrie for the wedding tonight.

Posted my cards to Oz today, only just made it as it is last posting day tomorrow.

have a good evening all. xxx

Evening Everyone.

Thats a lovely Christmas tree Mollie.

You poor Bunny, hope it's ok.

I was very lucky with the weather, it didn't rain the whole time i was building it, thats fantastic.

It sounds like you had a good weekend anyway.

You O/H must have been tired to fall asleep.

Just going to watch IAC now.

My O/H wanted to send our son in Oz a present etc but he's working away again 10days on 4 days off and he's have to be there to receive a parcel.

She's going to wait till he's back nearer home.

Hicky

Steve went on IAC, pity that, as I liked his witty dry sense of humour. And I thought he was so funny on last nights task.

Hicky

Aaaww what a shame your OH couldn't send the pressie to your lad in time for Christmas.

Gogglebox time, so pleased it doesn't clash with IAC tonight, because I love Gogglebox. Bet Emptybox is tuned in too.

goodnight all xxx

Evening.

Frosty start but turned into a sunny day. Got more tidying up jobs done.

What a pity Steve Davies went on IAC. I probably would have preferred Alfonso.

Despite all her faults, I quite like Lucy.

Glad your rabbit is doing a bit better Mollie. I guess they don't live all that long. I had a couple as pets when I was a boy. Can't remember how long they lived though?

Glad you enjoyed your meal in Ed's Diner.

No Christmas hat for me thanks.

Haven't thought about Christmas cards yet.

Hi Hicky. Enjoy picking up your new car tomorrow.

Pity the Xmas gift to Oz didn't work out.

Hi Frodo. Yes I remember that you're not a fan of Joe Swash. I don't usually watch that show any way, so don't see him.

They seem to have changed some of the buttons on this site. But at least if you hover your mouse over them it tells you what they are.

There seems to be a Like button as well. Haven't noticed that before?

emptybox

Morning Hicky.

Getting battered by wind and rain here.

Some parts of a rustic trellis have come down, narrowly missing my car.

Also I've got no mobile phone reception, so the mast must be damaged.

I agree Lucy has been very unfair to Amy, and she has a generally abrasive personality, but she tries hard at the trials and has been funny at times.

TBH I'm not hugely keen on any of them. Rebecca is probably the closest I have to a favourite now.

Hope the wind doesn't stop you picking up your car later.

emptybox

HI all

really must think about a new laptop ...the arrows on one side are kaput

trying the spirits up to decorate the tree etc but mmm think maybe I''ll wait a few more days ...shattered by decorating ..The dogs are hungry given them a taster but their food Is still cooking ...please I know about the children etc I give  the wind has blown a panel off the back porch ...scary cos I have a large fir tree at the back and heard they are shallow rooted about 20 feet away

If that

I hope you got your car Hicky longing to see a photo    sees you later

Evening Emptybox & Frodo.

Never got my car, there's a hitch, they don't have the Log book so can't Tax it, the owner lost it and ordered a new one, they haven't received it yet.

Had to ring Insurance and get my old one extended for a week, ÂĢ28.

Wind has been dreadful here.

Yes Emptybox, bet there are lots of trellis and fences down today,

Frodo, You've got a panel blow off as well, the wind was dreadful.

Fir tree's are usually pretty stable, not seen any blow over myself.

Hicky

all

Day 5 of our advent calendar...and it's hugs again for my 3 friends here......I think my snowman here is a friend of Fredo's as both of our snowmen like coloured baubles.

Hicky

such a shame you did not get your car, and had to mess around sorting out the insurance. Hope it doesn't take long to sort. Not as bad here as up north today, but very windy and unpleasant today here when I took dog out, so we didn't go far.

Emptybox

hope your mobile reception isn't off for too long. Good job that trellis missed your car though.

I am with you Emptybox and am not mad keen of any left in IAC, which is unusual as I usually do have a real fave...eg thought Ashley was great last year. David or Joey probably the best left from choice for me now.

But I still do not like Amy. Don't like the way she has played the game by not being a team player (all the evicted HM's seem to comment on that one), and  don't like the way she has stirred up trouble. Alfonso looked surprised and shocked when he realised what Amy had said about him.

Fredo

that does sound a bit scary if you lost part of your back porch. Hope it has calmed down there now. Think you need a bit of a rest after all that decorating.

yes little bunny is an indoor one, a dwarf one, very sweet natured. We got him for daughter when she was very young. Good idea to get a onesie, they look nice and cosy for this cold weather. Have you heard any more as to how Morse is? And how are your other 2 doggies now? I really need to hunt for a new lappy too.

Do either you 2 boys know the best type to buy for a basic lappy? ....not expensive, as  I don't do fancy stuff, just emails and forums really, and letters etc on word. One I can stick a dvd into, (I can't with this one). One I can touch type with?

Friday at last tomorrow, so OH due back home, thank goodness. So boring for him in a B and B all week.

goodnight all xxx

M

Hi Guys.

Sad to hear about Nelson Mandela, but he was 95.

Weather has calmed down here thankfully.

I hear they are worried about a high tide tonight, but it willnae reach here.

Very bad pictures from your area Hicky.

That's bad that you couldn't get your car. Strange about the registration document? You'd have thought they would have known they didn't have it.

Hope you get it soon.

The SD card came from my Brother. It worked as soon as I put it in without any problems. Wonder why the others wouldn't?

Anyway I then rooted the phone and put a custom ROM on it, so it's now a nice little phone.

Now all I've got to do is decide what to do with it. Not sure whether to put the SIM from the Blackberry in it and abandon that, or whether to put a different SIM in it and keep both.

Trouble is, I still like the Blackberry, so would be sad not to use it.

Hi Frodo. Hope the damage to your porch isn't too bad, and the weather has calmed round your way?

Really sad that Rebecca went tonight. Looks like I'll have to support Kian for the win.

Hi Mollie. I bet your OH will be pleased to get home tomorrow.

It could take them ages to fix the mobile phone mast. It was off for a good few days last time. Trouble is, the customers are thinly spread up here, so not a priority for them.

As for a lappy? No doubt Hicky will recommend a Dell, but HP or Acer are good as well.

This one for ÂĢ300 should fulfil your needs - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Acer-15-6-inch-Notebook=laptop
Just an example you understand, not a specific recommendation. I'm not all that knowledgeable on laptop brands. You could choose a better processor for a bit more expense. ('fraid I couldn't find a pink one for you on there )

emptybox

Hello

Hicky thanks for the photo of your new car ...sometimes If you miss a page for whatever reason   you tend to forget ,I do anyhow  ...you leave the page

and hey ho a memory lapse ...whatever the 4x4 looks fantastic and you have worked for It (brain power ) you must be far up in your work than you admit and good luck xx you deserve It .

Mollie your Advent pictures are lovely ...how you think or connect to the way I'm feeling your snow -man was lovely ...and thanks for the info about your tiny rabbit sounds wonderful .

About Morse I haven't heard a thing except he chews and Is naughty ..I say please give him back If he Is a pain ..and thats all I can do

My dogs are part of the family ...they go for walks when Its cold they have blankets pffft to folks who say that Is wrong .

Hello emptybox we can disagree cos I know you stick to your opinion Rebecca has been such a disappointment to me a chance to show her prowess instead she was excused from trials that folks her age where not ...one trial has she done in water .....say what you like about Amy having more tops than she should how pathetic are they about that

stoopid ...aren't they vetoed for pants bras etc ...will I get a telling off from you three Naaah ...you will disagree and Its fun .....byeee

If you do not here from me I intend to indulge of some special booze to-night

take care all                  Boozy teddy

Day 6 of our advent today....and a nice Disney pic.

Emptybox

glad the weather calmed down. Good news that the phone now works. Does the broken mobile phone mask affect you at all? That is the trouble living rural, they tend to leave you when stuff needs fixing. I hated that house we lived in in the valleys, it was real bad there and the frequent power cuts drove me nuts. Thank you so much for the lappy info, I will take a look at that one. Did you get any outdoor jobs done today?

Fredo

Aaaww such a shame you don't hear much from Morse. As you say, you have done all your can do, hopefully he will settle down, and stop the chewing as he gets older. Our dog used to chew all in sight when she was young, she is a lot better now though. However, she got behind the tv a few weeks ago, and chewed the cables.   We now wedge the tv cabinet right up against the wall, can't believe how she managed to squeeze behind it. Yes indeed our pets are part of the family.   I like to make sure they are content and comfy.

Correct, you will never get a "telling off" from us three here, just because we have different opinions. I come on here for fun and relaxation, with nice friendly easy going people, which thankfully I have found here.

I too have memory lapses...often lately because I am really exhausted or worried about something, or just plain ditzy.

eg... I know on occasion I mistype stuff, eg.....I know you are Frodo, but automatically often type Fredo..but I think I can see that, you , are like my other 2 friends here, and are too nice to make issues out of trivia, and would laugh about it...I will get it right one day in the future.   I don't think it is as bad as the typo I kept making to Emptybox though...I kept telling him to enjoy his "shag bol" instead of "sphag bol"....   I still have to pause as I type, when I mention his fave Saturday meal now though.

IAC...yes, although I don't like Amy for various reasons, I did think they did go on a bit about her bikinis. I guess she just irritates them all round now because of not being a team player.

Wonder if Joey will win, or if we will get a surprise winner? I haven't enjoyed this series as much as past ones, bit too short on fun and too much petty moans this series. Hope tonight's episode is good.

OH home and is having a nap. Took him 3 and half hours to drive home.

Hope it was dry for Hicky and he could get in the garden. I think your new car looks lovely Hicky.

Although I did press Hicky's once to see if it worked, I don't like this "likes" button under posts. I think it could be a bit competitive, and childish...ie...if you don't press my "like" I won't press yours,

I like all of the posts from my friends on this thread, and find them all interesting, so I will have no need to use the "like" button here at all. I generally do like this site though, so think if I can work out how to do it, I will pay the fee to join.

My mum is such a worry, her memory so bad, she is now getting family members confused eg the other day thinking my kids were my grandkids. Seems to be worse if she is tired or not eaten, I really have to encourage her to eat now.

Landlady has gone quiet, thank goodness, I had this dread she would want to put the house up for sale, so we would be house hunting over Christmas, but at least we are ok for now, as we have heard nothing further. Best to wait awhile to see how OH's current job goes before planning a move.

Have a good evening all. OH, me and daughter are going to the pub for dinner now, Small place, not far away, but good home cooked food, and nice to catch up with OH as not seen him all week.

Enjoy your special booze Fredo   Frodo. ... wonder what it is?   (note I remembered the name then as I had been talking about it, but can't guarantee I will every day).

see you later buddies.

Hi all.

The boffins in Seattle were making some adjustments to the site yesterday....and that's when all the buttons appeared.

The one at the bottom left let's you LIKE an individual post without 'liking' the thread as a whole. If you LIKE a post the heart should turn pink and the author of the post should get an alert tekking them that their post has been 'liked' and by whom.

The 'like this topic' button is still available on the right - near the top, but now shows the avatar of anyone who has liked the topic.

The buttons at bottom right are just the buttons that were behind the little cogwheel that used to sit at top right plus the two quote buttons.

Extremely Fluffy Fluffy Thing

Hello fluffy

personally I find the like..dislike offensive ..and could lead to tensions

I pressed people whom I wished to follow no disrespect I glance now and again

Evening.

Very frosty here today, but also quite sunny.

I didn't really venture out except to see if I could mend this trellis that the wind broke.

It's not really a trellis at all, but quite substantial rustic poles along the front of the lawn. If one had hit the car it would have made a dent.

Anyway. I decided the grass had too much frost on it for me to be messing around with hammer and nails and a step ladder.

Another day methinks.

Hi EFFT. As per usual I'd not even noticed the 'like this topic' button up top.

I go around with my eyes shut, me.

Hi Mollie. Yes the mobile phone mast affects me because it's the only one I can get a signal from at the house, and even then I only get a reasonable signal upstairs. And that's just a 2G signal mind. No hint of 3G or 4G here.

The mast is on the hills about 4 miles away.

Luckily the signal came back on this afternoon.

That was a bit of a shock Joey going? I felt sure he'd be top two. Didn't think he'd win though.

Hi Mollie. I had noticed your little spelling bloopers. Thing is it's easiest to spell it "spag bol" without the aitch; then you wouldn't be tempted to make a mistake.

Sad that your Mum is getting worse. You'll just have to make the most of her while you can.

It's good that you don't have to worry about house hunting at this time of year anyway. :cool;

Hope you enjoyed your pub grub?

Hi Frodo. There's nothing wrong with updating your house decor every now and again. My house hasn't been decorated for about 20 years, so there's only a few years to go now before I begin to think about it myself.

emptybox

Evening Everyone.

To EFFT.

Considering the 'Reply with Quote' is pretty grim as it doesn't get boxed in when it's in the post.

Could you either make the Reply box floating so i can scroll up and down the page to read it and the Reply box follows me or let us have the Reply box released from the page and i could anchor it at the side of the screen while i scrolled to see the posts i want to reply to.

And, as for Like Buttons, why on earth would anyone want to Like a post.

It's ridiculous on Facebook as well.

----------

Back to business.

Mollie, as Emptybox says, i would only suggest a dell.

17" Dell New Inspiron 17R

Love the Advent pics, they sure brighten the page up.

I don't know when i will get the car now, it's out of my hands.

Problem is i'll have to get fuel again and put my tunnel tag back and some other stuff as well.

I'm losing track of the posts with this system, trying to scroll up and down to find the post i'm replying to.

Sorry, don't know where i am, hopeless.

Emptybox, glad the SD card worked, that is strange.

Yes, leave the outside jobs till the weather gets better.

Just as well the poles didn't hit the car.

Frodo, your bathroom sounds nice now,

And i like everyone's posts i don't pick good or bad ones.

I liked Amy, bot bothered if she had too many clothes, what does that matter.

Not liking Lucy, she should have gone out last night, she's dreadful, thought Joey would win, but maybe he's just too thick.

So it looks like either Kian or David to win.

Watching Strictly now.

Looking forward to the jungle tonight.

glad you got your mobile signal back again. Did you manage to get out to mend your trellis today? Good idea to try and get used to the spag bol method....  and hope you enjoyed it tonight.

such a shame about the car, you could of done without all that messing around. Did the garage not realise there was no log book when you agreed to buy it, or did you agree to buy privately? Hope it does not delay you much longer. Did you manage to get out in the garden today?

Fredo

hope you enjoyed your little tipple last night, I had a glass of rose with my nice pub meal last night.   I had a cranberry/brie wellington with mash and peas. Lovely flaky pastry it was, nice... like your your quorn meal sounds.

We went to the cat's home today for their Christmas fayre. We like to support them, the poor cats looked so cute, can't believe how people dump them. A few had been found outdoors with their kittens. We bought lots of home made cakes there... yummy..and I won a nice wooly hat on the raffle.

Now what a shock was last night's IAC? Should mean an interesting show tonight.

Wonder if we will get a surprise winner on X factor? I think everyone expects Sam to win.

have a good evening all xxx
