Evening Mollie.

This should be the last of the blue slate, need a few ton of something if we do the frontage between house and pavement.

I can get the next stage of the garden done now the roots are out, couldn't lift the root into the barrow, O/H did though.

Hoping for a good dry week to get grass cut and fence sprayed and decking sprayed, bought a big piece of ply wood to catch the over-spray from spraying the handrails and spindles.

Chanelle did look a bit tired, no wonder, bet she doesn't sleep hardly.

Finger injury is looking pretty good now, after a day in the fresh air, mind you i've been working in the garden so it got knocked about a bit.
More of the surrounding scab has fell off, just got the middle area now, may need a week.

Good Afternoon Everyone.

Been working in the garden all day, so much to do to prepare for the new slate, which hasn't arrived yet.

Got a load more of the area's cleaned and the matting down, secured with a few bricks for now.
Have got a few clear runs down the side for the barrow to go.
Taken the Tomato plants down now, evenings getting too cold.
Have sprayed my Weather Vane Land-Rover Chrome, it's mainly for my lads little lad, he is car mad and he's only 3, but he loves the Land-Rover.
Haven't seen any TV today, will watch a bit tonight, will have to look see whats on.

Still finding meals out of the freezers, a lot of stuff shouldn't be kept very long, a shame really.
Hicky
Good Evening Everyone.

The blue slate came, and some rock salt for the winter as well, thought I might as well get some in now, it's harder to get later.

Have barrowed a few loads into the back, will do more tomorrow, think one of my lads is coming to help as well.

My weather vane looks good now in silver.

Made a concoction up for tea, had some curry left over from yesterday, had some king prawns and fried rice O/H had left in the wok as she had cooked too much.

PS.
A nice video that fans of Josie & John-James put together.

Good evening all
Hicky
gosh you have been busy in that garden of yours. We will be expecting up to date piccies soon.   Glad you are pleased with your weather vane now it is sprayed. Sounds like you had a real mix of things for tea today.

Emptybox
hope you have had a good Friday.

OH found a great tv show for us to watch last night. It is called "An idiot abroad", he was in china last night, and it was so funny, it was on Sky, look out for it , I think it is repeated.

is the Elvis Festival time again here.
We couldnt get tickets for the final heats tommorrow, all sold, so it has got even more popular. There are Elivs's popping up from everywhere. But luckily, we did manage to go this afternoon for heat 1 Elvis singing competition. We all really enjoyed it. Lasted for over 2hours, and was only ÂĢ5 each. Lots of great Elvis's too.
It was rather bracing on the seafront today, just how I like it.

Tommorrow me and OH have been invited to a party by his friend who just got married a couple of weeks ago. They didn't want to ask friends to the wedding because of the big expense, so they are having a house party for friends now.  We staying in a hotel nearby. I am a bit nervous, I'm not used to going to parties now, and apart from the guy who has invited us, I don't know anyone. I have decided on my navy frock with little pink flowers.

So be good whilst I am away, and have a great weekend, xxx
M
Hi Mollie and Hicky.

Not a nice day here, but I got some work done.
It was cold, windy and showery.
I had to wear my bodywarmer to keep warm, and I could even have done with some gloves this morning, as my fingers were so cold.
It's definitely Autumn here.

You have been busy Hicky. But it'll all be worthwhile, I'm sure.

Does it matter how long stuff has been in the freezer for?
I know some things say "freeze on the day of purchase, and consume within a month", but I never bother. I just eat them when I get round to it.
Obviously i wouldn't leave those things for years, but a few months shouldn't make much difference surely?

Mollie, i think that show is only on Sky1, which I don't get. Might be wrong? I saw trailers for it anyway. Has Ricky Gervais in it?

Elvis again eh? A friend of mine at Uni was mad keen on Elvis, while I was into Heavy Metal.
I never quite saw the attraction, but he had just about every Elvis song on record.

Enjoy your party tomorrow.
I'm going across to see my Brother's static caravan tomorrow.
He used to have an ordinary caravan, but he sold that and bought this fixed one that is sited in a park near the coast. He's had it for a few months, but this is the first time I've seen it.
It's quite big, with 3 separate bedrooms, apparently.

Aisleyne's flying out to Singapore to see the Grand Prix on Sunday, then on Monday she is flying on to Bali to do a photoshoot as 'Lara Croft', for an official calendar.
I suppose some poor b*gger has to do it, but i really feel for her.
emptybox
Good Evening Emptybox & Mollie.

It's been a lovely sunny day here, unloaded about 1 and a quarter Tonne of slate, had put the matting down ready for it, and prepared the ground for the matting.

Like Elvis's songs but wouldn't go and see people taking him off.

Enjoy your party outing Mollie, I would only be drinking coke or a fruit drink/orange anyway.

It's going to get a lot colder at night, some heating needed that's for sure.

About the Freezer Emptybox, the time food lasts is dependant on the temperature of the freezer, the normal temp is -18 but food only last for say 3 months tops.
It seems that the colder the freezer the longer you can keep the food in it.
If it was -60 I think the food will last indefinite.

At -18 the water comes out of the food and turns to ice, but the longer it stays in the freezer the dryer the food gets as the liquids are taken from the food and the ice seems to form outside the food.

I like the big static caravans, they are so roomy and have all mod cons these days.

Lucky Ash going to the Grand Prix in Singapore, I saw one in Malaya, we put the coms in with being in the Royal Signals and I had a track radio as we were Marshals for the day.
It was a Motorcycle Grand Prix, Wow, did those bikes shift.

I see Ash has a new twitter name, it's her Limited one I think, @AisleyneLtd

Just watched X-Factor, not bad, another session tomorrow anyway, I like it on for 2 days.
Hicky
Hi Hicky.

Got back after a nice day with my Brother.
His caravan is more like a little bungalow than a caravan. Even has 2 bathrooms. Very nice.
It's sited near to where I used to live, on the East Lothian coast.
We went for a walk on the beach, but it was bracing to say the least, but sunny.
The tide was coming in fast, and my youngest nephew got soaked by an unexpectedly big wave, so we had to go back to the caravan quickly to get him dry.

Coming back this evening, the temperature gauge in the car was reading only 4 degrees, so I've put my electric blanket on tonight.

I've eaten things that were years old, from the freezer. But it's probably not a good idea, as you say.

Aisleyne's personal Twitter is still @Aisleyne1. The @AisleyneLtd one used to be @AshForAllStars, and is updated by Ash's manager, with what she is doing.
It's a bit confusing because it is using the same avatar as Ash's own one. I've suggested he change it, but he hasn't as yet.

Hope Mollie enjoyed her party, and has a nice time at the hotel.

Hi Emptybox.

That sounds a good caravan, I would prefer big ones.

I moved all the 2 bags of slate by myself, am aching a bit now, still need some more but i'll pick up some bags local to finish off, probably need about 12 bags.

I bought a clock for outside as well, it turns round as well, it's a thermometer on the back, it is supported by a bracket so it can be swivelled.

I think it depends on what food it whether it can be frozen for longer periods.
You can buy fish and prawns that come with an ice glaze, they will keep in the freezer for a long time because the air can't get at it.

Hope Ash enjoys her trip to Singapore, I saw a bit of the race, it looked an awful track, you'd be lucky to finish, not enough run-off area's.

Hope you've had a good day Mollie.
Hicky
Hi Hicky.
Not too bad a day here.

I went into Galashiels to B&Q to get a few things. I got some energy saver bulbs that will work with my existing fitting.
I also bought a new toilet seat, because one of the ones in the house was getting a bit scruffy.
I also did my weekly shop in the Galashiels ASDA. It was certainly cheaper than my usual supermarket.

Well done barrowing all that stuff yourself. the outdoor clock seems a good idea.

I think Ash enjoyed the GP, judging by her tweets. I meant to watch it, but forgot.
Tomorrow she flies on to Bali to do a photoshoot as Lara Croft. It's something for the official Lara Croft franchise, and will produce a calendar and other material, but i don't know much more about it. Don't even know if it's just Ash doing it, or if there will be several 'Laras'? can't wait to see the results.
Unfortunately it'll mean she misses the wrap party for her film 'Anuvahood', which she finished filming for on Saturday, but that can't be helped.
emptybox
Hi Emptybox.

You need a good toilet seat, why not, and you can't have too many Energy saving lamps,  think energy is going up 50% so it will pay.

Have seen a few tweets from Ash, she seems happy enough and has just seen Maria Carey on her flight to Bali.
Here's a tweet from 7.15 this morning in case you miss it.

Good evening all

Hicky
I am not surprised you are a bit achy with all that physical work you have been putting into the gardening lately. Hope it has eased a bit now. I love outside clocks. They look so nice in a garden. We have got a little terracata one.
I did notice the ice on the outside of food from the freezer, and wondered why it did that, so what you just said , explains it.

Emptybox
glad to hear you got to go for a day out . The caravan sounds nice, and in a nice area. Trust the young fella to get a soaking.
4 degrees, no wonder you have dug your blanket out.
It is a bit cool here, meaning I have dug my cardy out to wear indoors, but havent got my blanket out yet, or had heating on.

We had a nice weekend, stayed in a wonderful hotel. We got a last minute deal on it, so it was a lot higher standard than we realised. We got given a glass of chamapne on arrival, had a coffee machine in the room, slippers and dressing gown, and lovely sea view. When we got back on the Saturday evening, they had folded back the bed, closed the shutters, even  folded little corners on the toliet roll, and, on the bed,  there was a handwritten card on the bed saying they hope we had a nice stay, and a box of choccies.  The hotel was an old house, all done up to how it looked originally..all dark and myserious..lovely but one night enough, too quiet for me.
I have never encountered folded toilet roll before.. thought it was dead funny.
My son now has caught this cold off his sister, so he was not very pleased to of had to miss college today. His nose was streaming and limbs aching, so he couldnt go.

have a good evening.
M
Good Evening Emptybox & Mollie.

I can take it easier for a bit now, still have some work to do, just got another 10 bags of slate to get, spray the decking and all the fences, spray her new lamp fitting, make and fit some design work on the downstairs toilet door.
Got to order the new tree tubs and the tree's, am thinking of getting a walk in greenhouse section, just a short section for some early plants and somewhere to keep my compost etc.

Chanelle's little feller is doing well looking at him.

Can tell the winters drawing in, getting so much cooler now at night.

Glad you enjoyed your weekend, sounds a great place you stayed, nice when they take that much trouble over details.

Hope you Son's cold soon goes, try and sweat it out of him.

It doesn't look too good weather wise tomorrow, might have to rearrange jobs.
Hicky
Good evening all

Emptybox
was it a gardening work day today?

It was nice weather wise most of the day here today, but looks like we are all in for a soaking tommorrow.

Hicky
I see you are still busy depleting the country of its stock of slate then. By the list of jobs you have given here, it doesn't sound like you are slowing down much in the garden yet. But I guess tommorrow's weather forecast may mean a bit of a break for you in your garden. And it looks like you have all next summer booked now for completing your decking.
Yes Chanelle's babe looks like he is coming on well, so cute.

Do you reckon eating spicy food helps sweat out a cold?  i gave son some spicy chicken tonight.

I have seen an advert for The Apprentice , I hope it is good this year.

Goodnight all
time to go to bed, think I will read my Heat in bed.
I subscribe to it, used my Tescos vouchers to pay for it, so cant be bad.
M
Evening.

A mildish day, but cloudy and a bit damp.
Got a bit of work done though.
Think it's supposed to be wet tomorrow.

Think I'll give this 'Seven Days' another chance tonight?

Good idea to put off decking your patio till next year Hicky. Will give you something to look forward to, and you've got plenty to keep yourself busy in the meantime.

Hope Mollie had a good day.
emptybox
Hello to Emptybox & Mollie.

A wet night/day again, at work anyway, just as well I suppose.

My Flue Jab is booked for the 14th Oct, getting it early this year.

The salte is looking good, another 8 bags needed to finish off.
O/H wants to put blue slate in the front as well, that would take about 3 ton or more I would think.

Still plenty of jobs to do though. We also Fancy a big water feature, it would go well with my new layout, but the big ones are so expensive, I might make my own, nothing very difficult about it.
It's only a cascading water feature using a pump, a tank to hold the water and a few waterproof lights, I'll have to get my thinking cap on.

I enjoyed the last Apprentice, so will be looking forward to it.

I see Josie & John-James are doing OK, they are on twitter and so is their manager, they are busy at the Mo
They have a one hour or so show on soo, I've got the details here:
It's a Reality Show, Monday C5 11th October 10pm, I don't want to miss that.
They have a Flat together at the Mo, he's doing a lot of PA's and has to travel a lot, but the manager says things are happening and some announcements soon.

Hope it's not too busy today, but we should be paying a load of invoices later.
Hicky
Good Evening Emptybox & Mollie.

I ended up very busy at work, gave me loads to do in the afternoon, was there till after 6.30, so it was a long day.
As i thought, it was the invoicing.

Had a nice tea, O/H went out with friends, so I had Fillet steak, fast fried in butter & nut oil coated in flaked sea salt with a teaspoon of cracked peppercorns then add onion ans sliced mushroom, thrown onto a plate with 2 handfuls of French Fries, yummy.
Hicky
Good evening all

Emptybox
are you watching Seven Days tonight, after your misunderstanding last night? I am watching it, seems a bit better tonight, maybe that is because the C4 site seems to be working tonight, and maybe because I have got used to a couple of the characters.
Glad it is milder for you and you got a bit of work done yesterday.
How was your day today. It poured here this morning, but dried up this afternoon.

Hicky
gosh, a water feature now, you will be chargin the public to come in and view your lovely garden next.   I love water features in gardens, they give them so much character.
Glad to hear you enjoyed your tea out tonight, It is always a treat when someone else gets to clear up after tea, that is the bit I hate most. I think you deserved a nice meal out, after your long working day today.

I had some lovely onion barjis for tea tonight with veg, Really nice and tasty.
Followed by blueberry crumble and custard.

Emptybox.. did you know the British blueberries are in season now, so you should be able to get some if you fancy some on your porridge, or if you fancy making that recipe again.

Yes I too am looking forward to the Apprentice, and IACGMOOH.

Emptybox at your Heat in bed joke. I was too tired to read it all so will take my Heat to bed again tonight. I also bought Look today. I like that mag, full of fashion piccies.

are either of you joining the C4 seven days to chat to the characters?
I think I may give it a go.

goodinght all xxx
M
Good Evening Emptybox & Mollie.

You misunderstood Mollie
I made the Fillet steak dinner, O/H went out with her friends, they ate out.

Going to get my petrol mower serviced and a wheel is loose, probably the bearing.
Will give it to my Lad, going to get a small flymo, we don't have a lot of grass  to cut now.

Have taken down the gazabo, all packed up and put away.
Have got to power spray the decking then let it dry and spray with protective coat for winter.
Have got all the stuff for that.

SCD on Friday at 9pm, would prefer the Ice skating though.

Had a lot of rain, will be growing gills next.

Pickled a big jar of Beetroot, gave a load to the canteen ladies at work, have still got some in the garden yet.
You can get big jars of pickling vinegar all ready.
Hicky
Evening.
Day was mostly dry, but the grass was soaking wet, and it came on rain by 5pm.
Still, I got a bit done.

Watching this Trinny and Susannah thing. A spoof obviously, but a wee bit funny.
Not much else on anyway.
I might give SCD a look tomorrow, but it's not really my thing.

Hope the work canteen was pleased with the beetroot Hicky. I like a pickled beetroot on occasion, but there's only so many you can eat yourself.
Probably a good idea to take the gazebo down for the winter.

I had a look at the Seven Days site Mollie. I quite like the little interior designer Hannah, and the property developer malcolm might be interesting, even if he does look a bit like a tortoise who has lost his shell?
emptybox
Evening Emptybox.

I bought a small pack of seedlings of the beetroot, it only cost a few coppers and they are so easy to grow, I got about 80 seedlings.

Solved the Tiatan Robot riddle, the one we saw is remote controlled but can also respond on it's own, it has a High Res imaging camera behind it's mirror 2 way chest plate, you can read all about it here, very interesting.
http://www.cyberstein.co.uk/
Hicky
Good morning all
forgot to post my post yesterday.

Hicky
sorry silly me got it wrong about you going out, when you werent going out. Sounds like you still managed to get youself some good nosh though.
Not having so much grass to cut now is the big advantage of all that work you have done in your garden.
yes Hicky, I will be growing gills here too today here.
sounds a good idea to grow beetroot, and an even better one to keep those canteen ladies happy, to make sure they keep serving you those nice brekkies.

Emptybox
I will give 7 days another go next week. Oh yes, you are right,  that Malcomn does resemble a tortoise.   And what a weird one he is.
are you getting behind work wise with this wet weather, or had lawn growth slowed now it is October?

Did either of you watch Nigella?  What an  attractive lady she is, and what great recipes.Me or daughter are going to have a go at the peanut butter choccy cake,
I think you Hicky would of really liked her seafood recipe.
It was so good, I advise you to watch it on iplayer if you missed it.

Looks like a wet one everyewhere today, but I dont mind, it is OH's half day, and we dont have to go to a party this weekend...we can chill out with the family.  Hurray!!

It was week 2 of Idiot Abroad last night. Do any of you watch Idiot Abroad? Brilliant show, me and the family all love it. It is good to see, a travelshow, that for once goes behind those luxurious toursity spots, to show how the real locals live. And although I think the whole show is so funny, I think he manages to still show us what awful condtions the locals exhist in, with a total respect for them.

Job time for me now, already had yummy brekkie of cheese and tomatoes on toast, with freshy squeezed grapefruit and orange juice. Must keep those vitamins up with all these colds around.
Fortunately my kids have just shaken theirs off now.

Have a good day.   xxx
M
Good Morning Emptybox & Mollie.

You are so funny, "A guy in a suit", what kind of guy has a body that could go inside a Robot? there isn't anywhere for his legs, body, arms or head to go, so how could he control it anyway?

The controller is the bloke who drive it into position and picks it up, most of the things he does are preprogrammed into it's memory, he doesn't control it like you do a remote control car, he doesn't have a joystick.

Have been looking at Mowers online, haven't decided which would be best yet.
A bloke is coming the weekend to look at what is required for the French doors for the back-room, they will lead onto the future decking which would be outside, when that's decided.
There's so many jobs that want doing now, going to be busy next year by the looks of it.
O/H wants to buy a sanding machine now so she can sand the woodwork down, it's too hard for her using her hands.
What next I ask myself?.
The Dancing starts tonight at 9pm, don't know if you'll be watching, haven't seen any I like yet.

PS.
Got the OK set of mags as well, Chantelle & her Mum had 6 pages, she looked stunning, Josie & JJ had a good few pages as well, they are doing fine.
Hicky
Hi guys.

It's very wet here, so no work today.
I am getting behind, but the grass isn't growing fast, so there's not the same urgency, and people can hardly complain with all this wet weather.

Not sure what to advise as to small lawnmowers Hicky?
Personally I couldn't be doing with trailing a cable around, so would probably look for a rechargeable one, if they were powerful enough.

But then again, I do use a customer's electric one (with a cable), in a garden that doesn't have good access for my large petrol one, and it gives a reasonable result.

I think that "Idiot Abroad" programme is only on Sky Mollie, so I can't see it, but I might look for the Nigella one?
Glad your kids are getting over their colds now.

About the robot Hicky. I don't think there's any point in us arguing about it , but even the link you posted says the current version (Mk5)  is controlled by an operator in a body suit; for walking at any rate
It's possible the body suit is separate  from the robot, and that the operator is prancing about in the camera runs or somewhere, but I'd have thought there was a real danger of standing on someones toes by accident, if that were the case.
I think there's plenty of room in there for an average sized man. That's why they've made it so large.

Evening Emptybox.

Had a lot of rain here as well, but it's not constant.

I cleaned the decking late afternoon, used my power wash thingy, just got to let it dry now.
I've looked at a couple of Bosch Mowers, one had the rotating vertical blades, like the old ones but of course it's Electric, don't mind the cable now as the grass is such a small area.

The Robots we see don't have anybody inside, there is no room believe me, and a person wouldn't be able to balance it anyway.
It is remote controlled at the Mo, but full autonomy can't be far away now.
It is in constant communication with the Human controller.
I think it has multi programmes stored so it just activates the one it wants, but a lot of what it does it does by itself because it has the built in camera equipment which picks out people/objects and colours.
Hicky
Evening.

Mollie, I'm just watching Nigella on the iPlayer.
The food looks good.
The seafood recipe was simple, if you could get hold of the clams, squid and prawns. It was a bit disconcerting seeing her eat the crunchy bit of the prawn though?
Nigella is attractive, but she's a wee bit too pleased with herself for my liking.

Hicky those cylinder mowers are supposed to give the best results. They only really work on a flat, firm piece of lawn, but from the photos, your lawn certainly looks suitable.
emptybox
Hi Emptybox.

Didn't see Nigella, not sure what you mean about the crunchy bit of the prawn, you only eat the bosy, and thats the same with all prawns, after the shell is removed.

The lawnmower I fancy is the Bosch ASM 32F think it will do me, it's around the ÂĢ100 mark, might wait though, so many things to get.

Couldn't resist getting some fruit trees, found a new intake at the garden center, found myself an Apple, Pear, Plum and Cherry, the trees are dwarf stock and about 3 years old, well trained really.
Have made a support bar like they use to support their young trees, It's just till I get the big tubs to put them in, but they need protecting from the winds etc for now.

Just remembered, haven't eaten my big crab legs I got yesterday from Costco.
Must have them after the X-F show.
Hicky
Good evening all

It was nice and sunny here today, hope it was for you too.

Hicky
sounds like you have plenty still planned to get on with, on the house front. Your fruit trees sound a good idea.
hope you enjoyed your forgotten crab legs.
Thanks for the mag hint, I'll have a peep at that now.

Emptybox
Yes I too wasnt impressed with Nigella's prawns, but did like the look of that peanut butter cake.   I think it may be very rich and fattening though.
Shame you cant get Idiot Abroad.

I don't watch the Strictly show, not keen on it. I like the ice one, but not this one. I enjoyed X Factor though.

Hope you are having a good weekend. xx
M
Evening Mollie.

Yep, plenty of jobs to be done at home.

Had one of the crab legs, so delish.

I like the dancing, only to see the wonderful outfits the girls wear.
Some pretty ones this year as well.

Have been on twitcam watching/listening to Josie & John-James from their house or apartment they are living in.
They are both very busy, and looks like more pics in OK next week from their holiday in Portugal.
Hicky
