Good Day Emptybox.

Graphics card arrived early this morning, only ordered it yesterday.
Have to take the output socket mounting end plate off and fit the short form one
Will have a go at that in a minute, i've got all the necessary tools an socket drivers.
Be good if it works as expected.
Not too sure what difference it will make to the screen.

Visit to nurse went ok, very pleased with BP 110/75 she said many would fight for those figures.
Going next Tuesday for bloods etc, so have to fast for 14hrs, not a problem though, will go for brekkie to supermarket.
Hicky
Good Afternoon.

Well that didn't work, the Card won't fit in the Puter.
The PCI slot isn't the same way round as the card and the fixing bracket is a double width one supplied and the Puters are single.

Have emailed the feller from Dell, see where we go now.

I had plugged out the mains while I had the cover off in case anything touched the Motherboard, after I'd finished and powered back up it said i'd lost the date etc.
Now it won't recognise my Wireless usb Belkin Adaptor, so had to plug the cable back into the Router, handy these 10M network cables.

Still trying to stop the Blackbirds digging up my veg plot, making a right mess, got netting almost all over now but they are still getting in.
Going to get more netting to try and stop them

Just got an email back from Dell, I'll go see what it says.
Hicky
Hi Hicky.

That's not very good about the graphics card.
You'd think the guy from Dell would know what would fit in their own computer?

Without knowing exactly what computer you have, it's difficult for me to give you any advice.
Before you order another card though (if you have to), I would check the power requirement as well, cos Dell are well known for putting rather puny power supplies into their systems.
Fine for the installed components, but not good for upgrading.

The fact that it lost the date when you turned the power off, might suggest that the CMOS battery needs replacing?

Does your integrated graphics not allow you to set 1920 x 1080 resolution at all? Or does it allow you to set it, but everything slows down on screen when you do?
It might just be a case of getting the most up to date driver, or forcing it to show that resolution? Still, a separate card is always best, if you can find one that fits.

Another lovely day here. A bit breezier than yesterday, that just got rid of a bit of the heat.

Ben went down a bit in my estimation yesterday. He was sticking up for JJ, and saying he was right in what he said.
Some people think he's a gameplayer, but I don't know? He seems too nice so far?
emptybox
Good evening all
I lost my post this afternoon. My lappy is overheating, and has switched itself off twice today. The second time being after I had typed in a post here.

ooohh look, they just switched livefeed off, there must be a big time delay, and they are evicted now.

Hicky
how annoying that your card didn't fit.
I am glad to hear your blood pressure is dong so well.
Is your OH watching the football, mine is watching it upstairs, and the kids have Mario on the tv downstairs until BB starts anyway.
Those blackbirds seem to be trying to outwit you to get at your veg plot. I hope you succeed in keeping them out.

I wonder who will go on BB tonight? Hopefully Shabby.

Emptybox
glad you too got the good weather. I found it a bit sticky here today, but not too bad. Did you get your gardens done today.

I have been having an annoying evening... lappy playing up, burnt my arm on the oven, so had to sit here with the frozen peas on it, and then my damn filling that the dentist did last week fell out when I was eating some cashews.   Luckily the crown is still ok, I am hoping he can just stick some new filling inside the tooth again, and that it stays in next time. Wish I hadn't had those nuts now.

The dog had to have a blood test before her injection, because the vet said due to her having acute renal failure last year, it needed to be checked again. Luckily it was ok, so they did the injection. Poor dog has been so quiet today, so feels a bit off, but she has eaten too meals, so hopefully will feeling a bit perkier tommorrow. She didn't even want to go for a walk today.

Enjoy the eviction everybody.
I do think it has been an interesting first week, although I would like to see them having more fun, theose girls always seem to be crying .. and many HM's just dont seem to be getting on too well with all these squabbles already.  I do think there are a couple of stirrers keeping the squabbles and the group wars going though. eg Sabba and Giovani (?)..I am terrible at names...,and I also think there are just some rather weird people too that like going on and on and on... ...eg Sunshine (I do like her though), Ben, JJ.
Cant work most of them out either... I can't take to Rachel, chef man is a bit strange, as is Mario.  And the other 2 women just seem to sit smoking and gossiping and loooking up to Shabba.

I still like Corin though, she is so sweet.

must submit before lappy turns off again....
M
Hi Mollie.

Well I'm sad that Rachel has gone, because she was the best looking girl in there.

Corin is still my favourite, and today's highlights just confirms that. She was great in the lying task.

Hope your dog perks up tomorrow. Didn't realise she'd had so many probs.

Have you tried using the vacuum on your laptop to suck out any dust? It might help.
Just put the nozzle up to any of the grills on the outside, and suck at a low setting at first. Course it might be that the fan has stopped working.
emptybox
Good morning all

Emtybox
good idea , I'll try a shake and vacuum on the lappy. I do sometimes get crumbs in it.  I however strongly suspect because exactly the same thing happened to my daughters, which was the same make as this one, that it is a design fault.   We certainly woulndt go for this make again.

I was surprised that Sabby didn't go last night.  But I expect Rachel;s VT when she went in saying she was going to be the best looking feamle in there and after a fella didn't help her.   I expect she will now achieve what she really went in for, and that was to get herself into NUTS.  I wont certainly wont miss her in the house,  I prefer HM's who go in there to have fun, and to do their best at tasks. But I do think Sabbys continued presence will not add to the house's harmony either. I heard Sabby on livefeed last night, she seemed  full of herself because she hadn't gone, she reckoned she heard the boos for Rachel and Sunshine, and that she got cheered.
I agree that Corin did well last night, she is still my fave too. But I do like Josie too, she makes me laugh.

My dog still sleepy, so have not been out for walkies this morning. She did eat well yesterday, so hopefuly she will perk up soon.
will go shopping for brekkie and groceries later.
All round I did have a reall annoying  evening last night.
Added to the overheated lappy, was my that I burnt my arm on the oven, so had to sit with frozen peas on it.
then the new filling the dentist had done a week ago, fell out when I was eating cashew nuts.

have a good day both.
M
Good Morning Mollie & Emptybox.

My Puter is the Dimension 3100C, it's the narrowish compact form, not as wide as the normal Desktop, shouldn't have bothered really, no advantage at all.
I'll get a battery from B&Q, they are only ÂĢ2.

Was sad Rachael went, it was her VT that did her in, why do people make such stupid vids, I think they are told to by BB, but it has never helped them, think BB just like them to be boo'd on the way in.
Personally I don't think they should show any VT, just a joke.

Bad having your lappy overheating Mollie, if you are using it on a flat surface an keep it well ventilated then it can only be either the fan has packed up or the vents are blocked, crumbs may get into the keyboard but won't get into the works so won't effect the overheating problem I don't think.
One of the problems of Lappy's going thinner and thinner is that there's nowhere to dissipate the heat.

I think they turned the live feed off at 9pm in error, the show usually starts then, but it was moved to 9.35 and the live feed people obviously didn't know.

I'll have to get to the Garden Centre again to sort this plant protection out, want to make 1M x 2M sections up using plastic netting and by threading bamboo canes through it.

Bad news about the Nuts/Teeth Mollie, it's always nuts that do mine in.

Hope Doggy is ok Mollie, and bad news burning your arm as well, not a good day really.

Sun popping in and out, might be a good day, weather-wise.
Hicky
Afternoon.
The weather was grey and windy this morning, but the sun has come out now.
I'll need to get a bit of work done later.

Sorry Mollie. I did mean to say last night, that i was sorry to hear about you burning your arm, and about your temporary filling coming out, but you mentioned your lappy problems, and i was up and running with the techy stuff.
I wouldn't bother about the shake if I were you, just do the vac.

Hicky, I've now looked up your computer - Dimension 3100c manual
It's got 2 PCI slots plus a PCIe x1 slot for smaller peripherals, so you are limited to PCI for graphics really, unless you wanted to spend hundreds for a PCIe x1 card.
I see it also only has a 220W power supply, which would limit you to less powerful cards, unless you bought a better power supply. But it's a non-standard size/shape, so you might struggle to find one.

The Radeon 4350 says it needs a 350W supply, but it might just work with a lower supply, especially if the Dell guy says it's suitable. It also will take up the space of 2 slots, but unless you've got things in both other 2 slots, you should be able to shuffle things around, or does it insist on taking up both PCI slots?

The problems you are having with blackbirds are like the problems I am having with rabbits. They eat everything.
I planted some peas a while ago, and they were coming up nicely, but they've now nearly all disappeared. Must have been eaten. At least they don't seem to eat the potatoes.
I've put netting round the new rose that i put in to stop them eating that, but it doesn't look aesthetically pleasing. Not sure what to do?

Hi Emptybox.

The 2 PCI slots are spare but the end plate of the card for the low profile is 2 slots wide and so I can't install it anyway as the case slots are single with a fixed bar between each one.

The size of the card with a massive heat sink so it is silent and doesn't have a fan.
It is the width of 2 cards anyway.

I've bought some things to put the birds off, and some Solar lanterns and more netting.

The birds aren't eating the plants, just digging while rooting for insects and uprooting the veg.

I bought a watering hose, it just seeps water from it, 20M and run around the veg plot, should be ok.

I've been round and put the chickens to bed, they had already bedded themselves down for the night in the hen shed, I closed the little door and secured the gate to the hen run in case foxes come around during the night.

I'll have to go round at 8.30 to let them out in the morning and feed them.
Hicky

Hacksaw Hicky?
Surely it should fit internally? There are bars between the case slots on all computers, I would think?

No idea why the computer can't see your USB wireless adaptor?
Presumably you have tried unplugging and plugging it back into another USB port?
Also do other USB devices work?
You didn't disturb any of the headers or anything when you tried to install the card, did you?

Good luck in keeping the birds away from your veg patch.
You've got quite a responsibility with those hens.
emptybox
Good morning all
it is another bright sunny morning, but fortuanately not hot and stuff. (so far anyway).

Hicky
Yes, I think it was hard to see past that VT of Rachel's, so I think it was the main reason she went.
Glad Emptybox is able to help you with a bit of techy advice to sort your card out.
I am trying to lean the lappy on a cushion to get air under it, but it gets so hot within even an hour of switching it on.
Looks like you won't be getting your usual lie in today. Hope you manage to get up ok to see to the chickens. What a responsibility that is.
Fingers crossed your new purchases manage to keep those birds away.

Emptybox
oh dear, what a shame about those naughty bunnies nicking your pea plants, just as they were doing so well. Good job they aren't so keen on your potatoes. I do know they love roses, so you have to protect that. I used to have a pet bunny that came out of his hutch in the day and played in our garden.  He was always eating my mum's roses.
Did you manage to get some work done, later yesteday when the weather improved?

My OH is not pleased, because the snails have got at his marigolds he just planted.   The wildlife is really giving all of us problems with our garden stuff this year.

My neighbour is in France, and has asked me to go round each day to fill up the wild bird feeders. They get through about 3 containers a day that she has hanging from her tree. She gets lots of lovely different birds visiting.

Had a nice day yesterday, although it was sunny, at least it was a bit cooler , which was good. Went out for brekkie first thing, I had a cheese and onion sandwich with salad garnish for a change. My mum came and dog/bunny sat for us later, which she enjoys doing, whilst we all went to Cardiff. We love a walk along the river, and in the park, such lovely gardens there, and lots of cute squirrels. Had a quick look round shops, bought a few treats in M and S foodhall, and I had a banoffee cup cake in the coffee bar.
Doggie perked up by evening. Hopefully she will be ok now, and we will take her for a walk down the seafront later when we take son to drama.

hope you both have a good Sunday. xx
M
Morning Emptybox & Mollie.

Hi Emptybox.
The slots for the card seem back to front.
Putor Slots like this.
|-----|------------------------------|
Card Slot like this.
|------------------------------|-----|
So don't understand.

Could cut metal of case out but PCI slots not the same.

My Keyboard and Mouse are USB, maybe I blew the Adaptor when I plugged the power off the Putor, I pulled the plug out of the back, and AC is funny stuff, but all else seems ok.
Will see if I can find another one, have one somewhere.

Checked equip inside nothing disturbed.

Hi Mollie.
Chickens are lovely, let them out & fed them this morning, got an egg as well, in some bushes behind an apple tree.

Will take some of my Grand kids to see them later, can give them Green Giant sweet corn, they left me tins, one tin a day as well as the corn in the morning.
They said that the black ones will eat out of your hand, they are bigger and older.

I made some of the new netting into 1M x 2M sections using bamboo canes for edge support.
My Lanterns lit up last night, and a Blue Tit was lit up as well, all being dusk to dawn sensor controlled.
Hicky
Afternoon.
I'll just make a quick post cos I'm off into town.

Wasn't Helen lovely on BBLB.

Hicky it looks from your diagram that the PCI slots on your computer are 3.3v ones, and the card is a 5v only one, so incompatible. have a look at the diagrams on the wiki again. Only the 32 bit ones on the left are relevant.

That's strange cos most cards are universal and can accept either. Look at this card
It has 2 notches so it would fit in a 3.3 or a 5v slot. That's actually the card I thought you had gone for, and would certainly work for you.

Those chickens sound great. Just so long as there isn't a proprietorial cockerel in with them.

Hi Mollie. Glad you had a good day in Cardiff.
I'll pop back later.

Good evening all

those techy piccies you have both put on here look dead clever and impression.
Hope you can sort it ok Hicky.

Hicky..Glad to hear you are enjoying looking after the chickens. My friends keep them, and she often gives me some of their eggs. They are real good eggs too. He used to have to let them out in mornings and put them back at night, but recently he made a new coop with a small entrance so foxes can't get in it, so the chickens come and go themselves.  I bet your grandkids loved seeing them.   How nice that you can see the birds now you have those lanterns.

Emptybox
hope you had nice weather up there, like we have had here today. Did you have today  off work?

We went to Ikea today, looking for single mattress for daughter, spent ages finding one we liked then when we went to order it, it turns out they are all EU matresses, so we can't use them on the base.   Waste of time, think we will stick with argos, shame because you can try them in Ikea, but not in argos. At least we got a nice brekkie in Ikea though, the resteraunt there is good quality, but very low priced.   This afternoon we took dog a walk down seafront when son was at drama. The coastguard helicopter and van was called out yet again. It was high tide and sea was rough, and loads of people there.
I am so enjoying this summer weather with it being sunny and dry, but not too hot , and the light nights are great. When we lived in Oz, in Queensland it got dark about 6pm all year round, it was horrible, felt like it was just work and bed.

Do either of you watch Come Dine with Me?  I like that.
Am not really looking forward to BB, I think it is going to be nearly all Sabby related and I just don't like her. Actually this year, there is not one who I can say I am a real fan of, although some I do like more than others.

do ether of you fancy getting some chickens?

have a good evening. xx
M
Hi Mollie.

I've sent those PCI pics off to Dell, explaining the problem.

The Grand Children loved them, a Black one will feed off your hand.

I wonder what called the Helicopter out, always someone in trouble I suppose.

I'm enjoying this weather more all the time, am going to move my Vines to a better spot, will have to build a South facing Trellis section, am losing too much Sun where it is now.

I watch some of the CDWM, not all. I think Calum Best's is on later in July, think he will remind us on twitter.

I don't really fancy Chickens, nothing against them though, O/H not liking pets etc..
Hicky
HAPPY SUMMER SOLSTICE ALL

Hicky
Hope work did not ovetax you today.
Glad to see you have at least had time to keep up with a bit of livefeed whilst you are there.
Glad to see Shabby up, hope she goes, I thought last nights highlights became the Shabby show.   But I somehow think, with her being the proefessional actress BB will want to keep her. Plus we don't even know those other 2 girls because they are just Shabby lapdogs.

Glad the grandchildren enjoyed the chickens.   I can understand why your OH does not want pets though, they are a real commitment, and a big worry when they are ill.

Very warm here today. We haven't had rain for weeks now.

Just tuned in to livefeed, and i do not like this task. They are basing a whole storyline round  Shabby. (I think they are trying to save her).
And in fact, I think it is going to be hurtful to Ben to find out Shaby has only been friendly and civil to him because the BB Tree has ordered her to.
M
Evening guys.
This site seems to be really slow today.

Course it's the longest day today. It's all downhill from here.
It's been very warm again today though.

I'm nearly caught up now Mollie. If I get a couple of big jobs done tomorrow, I should be up to date.
The paperwork is another story though.

Just watched BBLB on E4+1. Aisleyne was stunning.

Sorry i didn't get back on here last night, but i was too busy playing with my new toys.
I bought an Acer 23" monitor (1920 x 1080) for the lounge, from Comet.
It was discontinued stock, so i got it for ÂĢ125 rather than ÂĢ150, but it's a great monitor.

The picture isn't quite as good as my 24" Hyundai, but that was over 3 times the price, and has a better TV quality panel.  But this one is all i need for the lounge.
It's the same resolution as the TV, so I can clone the displays for showing videos on the TV.

It has a glassy screen which looks good, but reflections might be a nuisance, but I can easily just draw the curtain a bit.

I also bought an HP Photosmart wireless printer and scanner combined.
My previous scanner had a fault where it put a line through the middle of everything. The previous printer is still working, but it has one cartridge for all the colours, and one colour was always running out before the others. This one has seperate cartridges for the different colours. Plus it can do edgeless photos. The old one put a border round everything.

Hicky. After I'd connected the monitor and printer to the computer, i found my sound wasn't working. Not sure what happened, but i took the side off the computer and took the soundcard out, and put it back in again, and everything is working again at the mo. The soundcard was secondhand on ebay, so might be a bit dodgy?
Anyway, while i was in the computer I noted that the PCI slots in mine were of the 5v variety.

Seems that bloke was right Hicky, It is Shabby, Govan, Ben and Dave up.
I think we could easily get rid of Govan somehow?

evening Emptybox & Mollie.

One of the Black chickens is sitting on a couple of eggs, but they aren't going to hatch as they aren't fertilised, won't tell the chicken yet.

Haven't seen BBLB yet, it's recorded though.

I'm on a Fast now from 7.20pm, have Bloods at 9.20 in the morning with the Nurse.

I'll try and speak to the Dell man tomorrow.
Hicky
Good morning all
Hicky
Hope the blood test goes ok, you will really be in need of a good brekkie by the time that is over. Sounds like you should soon be enjoying some fresh laid eggs.

Emptybox
Glad to hear the good weather means you have caught up nicely garden wise. The paperwork can always be saved for wet day.

Sounds like you got a bargain with that monitor, but shame about your sound card.

I thought you might of enjoyed BBLB last night.  I too thought Ais looked very nice, and the interveiw in the beginning was good, interesting how she likes Ben, I like him too. But I thought the second part of the interview was silly , because I don't like the way she is still focusing on her fave saying "you'd betta know yourself little girl" by using it for the HM's this year with that hand thing.  I found it cringeworthy when she said that to poor Nicki.

Watching hilghghts last night made me realise there is still no-one who I really like much this year.
I'd like Shabby to go becauses she annoys me, but I wouldnt miss Gavan either if he went. But I guess it is down to who wins the veto again.

have a good day, looks like a warm one again.
M
Good Afternoon Mollie & Emptybox.

Had a busy morning, Feed chicks, Blood test, Chemist for renewed prescription, Brekkie @ Morrison's,  went to MIL to wait for Future SIL who was having her hair done close by, and looked after her 3yr old Lad, took her home with little one and came home as Dell may ring.

Will check later to see if broody hen is collecting more eggs., if so one will vanish.
Hicky
Evening.

Another hot day, so I'm more or less caught up now.

Glad you got your blood test out of the way Hicky. Wonder what Dell will suggest now?

My sound card wasn't being recognized again in Windows, but it seems to work fine in Linux, so I'm not sure if it's a hardware fault or not?
May have to go back to the onboard sound.

I bought the soundcard on ebay. It came with a sound card, and a front bay with other connections, but no leads to connect it to the card. I got it for the price that just the card alone was going for, so i got the front bay for free effectively.
I found that it was almost impossible to get hold of the proper main connecting lead, but some had found that you could use an old style floppy disk cable instead (which I had lying about). However the Creative website specifically says not to use this, as it could cause problems.
I've now tried disconnecting this lead, and the sound is working again, at the mo, so i'll have to see if this works. I don't really need the extra front connectors anyway.

Mollie I have to disagree about Ash's saying. I thought it just fitted Nikki perfectly at the time.
However it was BBLB that thought up that game and kept playing the clip. It wasn't Ash's idea. I'm sure she'd rather live it down, but it's one of the things she's known for.

There's no one favourite for me on BB this year either Mollie. Perhaps they've yet to come in?
emptybox
Good Morning Mollie & Emptybox.

Fed Chickens at 5.45, don't think they are used to an early alarm call, but still keen to get out in the Garden and get some corn.

Dell haven't got back since my last email, it's awkward with working, so hope Thursday and Friday will get it sorted.

Strange about your soundcard, it seems a long time since I had one of them.I wonder if new HM's are going in this year, think it needs them, even the HM's think that.

I see Chanelle has said that the Baby is a boy, I've got the Loveit mag will read tonight, but she tweeted this morning admitting it.
Hicky
Hi Hicky.

As I'm caught up, I decided to do a bit of skiving this morning, before working this afternoon.

I saw that Chanelle has said that she is expecting a boy. Maybe try and get that mag?

My sound still isn't working in Windows.
It doesn't work in Windows7 or XP, so it's not just a 7 issue.
The mad thing is, it works perfectly in Ubuntu Linux, so the hardware must be working OK, just that Windows has stopped recognizing it for some reason.
I'll need to try to get back to the onboard sound, cos the BB live feed isn't much good without sound.

ETA: I've now taken out the sound card, and the onboard sound seems to be OK, but the reason I bought a soundcard in the first place was that the onboard sound was sometimes only giving me 1 channel, so we'll have to see if it behaves.

Did you ever get your wireless USB adaptor working again, or are you still connecting with a cable.
These blasted computers.

Good evening all

Had a busy day, but got tooth sorted, and groceries bought, and pressies for daughters birthday tommorrow. Dentist made murmerings about refilling, and putting in a pin. I asked him just to stick some mix in again, and I would hope for the best, and avoid eating hard nuts on it.   So he did, Fingers crossed it lasts this time. At least it was replaced for free this time though.

Hicky
I thought you might treat yourself to a cooked brekkie out , after your blood test.
5.45am for chicken's brekkie. they are early birds.   I think you deserve to enjoy some of the eggs for all that effortn of seeing to them at that time of day.
Glad to see you can still get that livefeed at work.

Hi Emptybox
good for you doing a bit of sciving, workwise you have been doing quite well lately with all this good weather we have been having, so you do deserve a rest now and again.
This sound card business sounds a bit complicated. but hope you are happy with it now.

me and you never did agree on Ais did we? And probably never willl. But funnily I did actually like her when she first went in the BB house. Then seeing that video again of her going off on one at poor Nikki, reminded me of one of the reasons why I changed my mind on her. But I must admit Ais did look very attractive on BBLB, and I guessed you would of enjoyed seeing her on it.
Oh yes perhaps we will get a new HM who we really like, hope so anyway. Do you think some now ones will go in, and if so when?

I decided not to choose to know whether I was having a boy or girl baby, I liked the surprise element.   Can't believe Chanelle will soon be a mum, she  just seemed so immature in the BB house.

who do you want to go on Friday?
I'd prefer Govan to go.

right have to go and tidy up, been trying to post this all night, but kept being interrupted.

goodnight all
M
Hi Mollie.
Glad you got your tooth sorted again. Hope it holds this time.
Will your daughter be having a party tomorrow?

No. We'll probably never agree about Ash.

I think I might prefer Dave to go actually. Although i don't like Govan, and he is a stirrer, I don't like Dave's preaching etc.
I'm not too bothered either way. In fact, if it comes down to it, I'm not fussed about Mario either.
emptybox
Evening Mollie & Emptybox.

Glad you got your tooth sorted, the pin is just to help the filling stay located.

Been giving the chicks a little sweetcorn at several times in the day when i'm off, they seem to enjoy that more.
I gave them some dry normal corn at 8.30, some sweetcorn at 12.00, 3.00, 6.00, at 6.00 they were waiting for me at 6 at the side of the house, they came to meet me.

Got a couple of wood containers with trellis, need more yet to complete what i'm making.
It's going to be a |> 15" <|>   26"  <|> 15" <|>   26"   >|< 15" >|
The 15" sections have a base box, the 26" sections will have the Vine container in front.

Hoping Govan or Dave goes Friday, had enough of either.
Hicky
Good evening all

Hi Emptybox
did you get any gardening done today? The gardens here too are now extremely dry, and the grass is starting to resemble the grass in Adelaide in summer. I have noticed that in our garden,  loads of leaves have come off the tree (due to lack of rain?). I guess they will start to go on about water shortage soon. Can't complain though, so far the weather this summer has been good, with it not being too hot ether.

no party for daughter, she is quiet, and we dont really know many people round here, but we did enjoy going out for our italian meal. I had pizza and salad, the boys had pizza and garlic bread, and OH and daughter  had mixed spicy type chicken starters and carbonara pasta. Our friend had calamara , followed by salmon pasta.

Hicky
you have been busy with those chickens.   No wonder they are waiting for you with all that yummy food you are giving them. That is an impressive diagram for your vines. I hope they come out well.

Yes I too hope Govan or Dave goes, and I wouldn't mind if both went. I think we need some new HM's.

goodnight all
M
Evening.

Well it was grey and cloudy here, and we had a small shower midday, but it was still fairly warm.
But it's much drier here than usual as well. the grass is getting parched and not growing much.

My hedgecutter is now giving me trouble.
It keeps cutting out. Seems like it's getting starved of fuel?
Hope i don't have to take the carburetter to pieces. My dad was good at that sort of stuff, but I'm hopeless.

Glad you and your daughter enjoyed your Italian meal Mollie. I love Italian.

I think you're spoiling these chickens Hicky.
When their owner comes back they'll ignore him and pester you whenever they see you in your garden.

I think Ben is being picked on in the house, but he's his own worst enemy. Rather than continually apologizing for nominating Sunshine, he should just say that it's nobody else's business who he chose to nominate.

Really dislike that John James, but something might develop between him and Sunshine?

Good morning all
another nice morning here today, hope it is where you are too.

Emptybox
what a shame about your hedgecutter playing up now.  I hope you can fix it without too much effort, because I know how much you need to use it at this time of year.

I agree that poor Ben is being picked on. I guess because he is so apologetic and full of guilt, he makes for an easy target. Sunshine had 10 noms that week, so there are many others there who know full well they too are responsible for nominating her, but they all keep quiet about it. So,  as you say, he should just say he is not willing to discuss it, instead of dropping himself in it.

I don't dislike JJ, because although he could do with being a bit more tactful, and in more control of his temper, I don't think he is deliberatly vindictive, and he doesn't seem fake, because he tells people his opinions up front. I don't think he stirs up background trouble either like Govan does. I don't like Sabby at all though. I think many are scared of her and her spoilt little girl tantrums.
I hope Ben stays tonight. Not keen on either Govan or Dave , but dont mind Mario.

Hicky
day off today?
If so, hope you have a good one.
do you have any fresh eggs today?  Emptybox is right, those chickens will want to follow you round all the time now you are feeding them like that.

My OH has a half day today, so I think I will get him to take me and daughter to Sainsburys and the Designer outlet.

Looking forward to evicition night, and also the 1st show of the new series of the IT crowd.   I really like the actress who plays the lead in this series, she is so funny.

Good Afternoon Mollie & Emptybox.

Sunshine & JJ one step further in their non relationship.
Lying close talking about Oz and where she has been and where he lives, and last night he said if he took her out he wouldn't be calling her Sunshine as it isn't her name.

Have decided that I'll leave the existing vines where they are and I've found some lovely vines in the garden centre, it is Vinis 'Fragola' white, it's called the Strawberry Vine as the grapes smell and taste like Strawberry's.

I've had a couple of the eggs, fried them, they are ok, only very small really.
Have been giving them a little sweetcorn more often, they love it.
I started rinsing the sweetcorn out in the tin, it has water sugar and salt added, so thought maybe best to since once, not sure if they should have salt.

I suppose you can expect to have maintenance problems with your hardware Emptybox, but you can't replace your equipment all the time.

Going to the Garden centre again later for the new vine, see if O/H will go, she's handy for lifting stuff.

Good Evening Mollie & Emptybox.

I did get the new Vine, bit of a struggle to get all the stuff in the Car, was going to make a few trips.

Put the Vine in first, but it was 7 or 8ft tall fixed to 2 canes.
The pot I wanted had gone, none left, go a bigger one, it's a 70cm one, never seen one this big, and also got 2 sections of trellis in 26" by about 5 ft, with s sacks of Manure and Compost.
O/H had to squash into the side back seat, where th baby usually sits, took the baby seat off though.
It was a tight squeeze but we got it all in.

Anyway all built up fastened together and sorted, will have to wait till next year to see if it works at all, but at least it's facing South.

It will be interesting to see who goes tonight, hoping Govan or Dave.

Must go and put the chicks to bed.

Evening.

Very warm day with sunny intervals. Good for work anyway.

Hope you have success with your vines Hicky, after all that effort.
We used to have a grape vine in a greenhouse years ago. Don't think they'd do outside up here?

Did the owners of the hens not leave food for them Hicky? Surely you haven't had to buy sweetcorn yourself?
But you're right. Probably best to wash the salt etc off first.

Did you get to the designer outlet Mollie? Any new purchases.
Just watched the IT Crowd. That actress - Katherine Parkinson, is one of my favourites as well.

BB. I'm quite liking the Sunshine JJ thing.

Good morning both

Hicky
at your OH squashed in the car surrounding all your vine produce. Fingers crossed the vines come on well. They sound like a lot of effort to me, but if you enjoy it, it is worth it.   Yes I agree, you do need to be carefull if you are feeding the chickens tinned sweetcorn. Sounds like they are enjoying it though.

At least this summer has been good weather wise for you to keep up with those gardens.    It was very hot here yesterday. Looks like another one to come today.

We are off for a day out today. We told daughter she could choose to go where she wanted today as it was her birthday last week, and she chose here..

it has been on tv recently, it is owned by a woman who used to be on tv's changing roooms and some other stuff, she called Anna Ryder Richardson, and she had enough of living the busy media city life, and chose to take to the country life, living surronded by animals with her family.
My mum is pet sitting, which she enjoyed doing. I am off to make a mammoth amount of sandwiches to take with us now. My fave is soft cheese with lashes of salad cream, so I always take that.

I am glad to see Ben stayed.   They were all so sure he was staying, because most HM's had convinced themselves, led by Shabby, that their chosen victim, Ben,  was the next one out. (Reminded me of the Freddie stuff last year).
In the end I sort of felt sorry for Govan when he came out of the house, because at least he seemed to feel uncomfortable about how he had acted. I think he may be one of the few who learnt a lesson about his behaviour, and think a bit more now before he stirs people up. I was glad he left though, I hated watching him sirring trouble in the BB house. Hope Shabby goes next.

have a good Saturday
M
