Evening Mollie and Hicky.

Cloudier and cooler today here. Still nice and dry though.

Bet you're looking forward to your hols now Hicky.

I'm thinking of getting a bigger monitor for my computer downstairs. I've got a 24" one upstairs, and it makes the 19" one downstairs look small.
I'm thinking a 22 or 23" FullHD one; i.e 1920x1080. That way I can clone the display on to my 40" TV for watching movies etc.
I'd put the 19" one in the dining room.

Hi Mollie. How funny, your dog running outside to bathe in the dust.
When I was talking about wearing my shorts and sandals around the house and garden, I was more meaning pottering about in my own garden. Don't think I'd wear them for work?
Certainly not sandals anyway. I wear steel toe-cap boots, just in case the mower runs away, or I drop a slab on my foot or something.
Also I would be wary of wearing shorts because of nettles and roses and jaggy bushes etc.
Perhaps on a day when I was just grass cutting though?

We have snakes here as well. Adders in the hills. I've never seen one in a garden though.

BTW The flower theme in the BB Eye is actually supposed to represent a funeral wreath, to mark the death of Big Brother.
Having said that, they've released a funeral advert, and it's quite Happy Clappy.

I'm going to have roast pork tonight, with roast sweet potatoes and mange tout.
Have to go and get it cooking.

Good morning all
a nice morning at last, now that horrible humid heat has gone.
I am watching the state opening of Parliment. My 2 Ozzie friends I was with in Manchester were thrilled with the timing of this, because they don't go home until tommororw, so are in London for the procession.

Emptybox
yes wise idea to wear boots and long trousers if you are doing anything other than just mowing lawns. Oh yes, adders that is the name of the snakes they had when we lived on the mountanside.
Thanks so much for that link. What a good ad. Didn't realise the ad I saw had a funeral connection. How lovely to see some of my old faves in the ad eg John Tickle and Brian. harder to recognise the women, because they often change their hairstyles. Was Nicki in it? Your dinner sounds nice, I'd join you but you could eat all the pork.

Hicky..
hope you have a good day off today.

I am not looking forward to this afternoon. Have half hour appointment at dentist to sort this broken tooth out.   I am glad it is not quite so hot because I get all sweaty with nerves when I go.

have a good day both.
M
Evening.

Hope your dentist visit wasn't too stressful Mollie.
Did he sort your tooth?

Cloudy and cool this morning, but it turned into a nice afternoon and evening.

Yes Nikki was in that BB funeral pic Mollie, at about 32 seconds in.
Needless to say, the hotpants, hair and hat near the begining belonged to Aisleyne.

Theres a photoshoot with various BB bods in New magazine this week, including Nikki and Chanelle.

Didn't see anything of the State opening of Parliament. I'll have to watch the evening news, to see what we have in store, in the Queen's speech.
emptybox
Good Evening Mollie & Emptybox.

Had came over to post that picture, and Emptybox beat me to it.

Hada busy day really, finishing planting veg, getting prescription, getting Euro's, getting Fuel went for a meal at the Hungry Horse save cooking tonight.
Oh, and put Lottery on.

Hope you tooth is sorted Mollie, mine seems OK for now.

Bought a new Charger for the Mower, don't know where the other one got to, can't find it.
Checking the temperature for on Hol, it seems 80 ish (28) during the day and upper 60's (18)at night, but who cares.

Working tomorrow, might have to work Thursday as well, they are very busy at work next week, the factory hasn't got production and a lot of work is going on to aid the introduction of the new model.
Hicky
Good evening all
I am back again.
been hectic round here, daughter needed lappy to do some coursework. And I have had lots of paperwork to do for vat.
Dentist did temporary cap on my tooth, said big piece broken, so that was best for it. Paying the big bill was as bad as the treatment.
I saw my friend on tv sitting on the front row inside the houses of parliment. She is now flying back to Oz, they had a great time at the procession, so lucky they saw it.

Emptybox
thanks for that piccy. They do look good, will have to get the mag, don't recognise many of them. I am so looking forward to BB starting again, I saw the funeral ad tonight at last.   I did see Nicki in the ad, but need to see it again, to look for others.

Hicky
glad your gum is all healed now. You certainly deserved that Hungry Horse meal.
That is good that they have work still coming in at your place Hicky. All helps to add to the holiday pocket money.   Sounds like it will be pretty hot when you go there. Don't forget to wear a hat in the sun.
Cooled down a bit tonight here, but it was till hot and sticky the last couple of days.

Goodnight all

is anyone watching davinas million pounds quiz show?
me and the family are doing it onine.   wish it was real money because we got the million tonight between us.
M
Hi Mollie.
That reminds me, I've got paperwork to catch up on, but we haven't had any wet days for a while, so it is backing up.   (plus I forgot about it till you mentioned VAT )

Just a temporary cap? Does that mean it'll cost even more for a permanent one?

I've been watching Davina's show, cos the questions are quite good.
A little slow moving though.
I'll maybe try  playing online, but I watched the news headlines at 10pm, so I would have missed the first questions.
emptybox

Good Morning Everyone

A bit cooler today with some slight drizzle around.

One boss said he wants me to get away by 1pm, so I might be able to get home early.

Watchrd the million pound drop, what time wasting, finding it hard to watch, it seems Davina is being told to spin it out, they certainly don't want anyone to win.
With it being live they are asking questions that you could never have learnt from experience and the chances of winning seem very remote, you can only guess.

Chanelle tweeted this before.

Good morning all
Emptybox
glad I reminded you to do your paperwork, they don't give you much time to get the vat done, do they? Our accountant was quering the low income for us over the last 12 month period, I explained there was no work for 5 months, so that was why. But hopefully that should give us a much lower tax bill for the end of last years accounts.
Yes I am sure whilst you are out busy doing gardens it makes it difficult to get your paperwork done too. OH is glad I have taken the company secretary role on for him. And I am glad I dont have to go out for work, because I can do all the house/family jobs at the same time as the paperwork.

I agree with you and Hicky that the million pound game is very slow moving, but by playing online, it does make it a lot more interesting. And I bet no-one gets the million, surely channel 4 couldn't afford it?

Hicky...
hope you do manage to get home early today, I am sure you have a lot to do with your hols coming up. What day do you go?  are you going from Manchester or Liverpool? good job the volcano stopped erupting anyway. Do you do the packing or does OH do it for you.
At least you won't be missing the start of BB. Launch night is the best night, so it would of been a shame to of missed that.

It is a nice cooler sunny day here so far, so time to peg out some more washing.
M
Hi Mollie and Hicky.

Well, it was a wet day, but i still haven't got my paperwork done.
Luckily I don't have to worry about VAT, as i don't have a high enough turnover, so it's just my monthly accounts that i have to do. But I haven't done March's yet, never mind April's.
I'm up to date with my invoicing though. That's the important bit.

We had sunshine and hail showers this morning, but I got a few hours work in, then it came pouring rain and hail this afternoon, and it's still raining off and on.

Some people on DS are speculating that Davina's show is a fake, and the contestants are really the people that are going to go into the BB house.
I don't buy that, but's it's a bit strange that it's on every night? As you say Mollie, CH4 certainly couldn't afford to pay out a million every night, or even every week.
emptybox
Good Evening Mollie & Emptybox.

Did get away just after 1pm which was handy.
Watered the garden and the one over the back who's gone away this week, and I can lift a small piece out of the fence and get into his garden.

I go in the morning to Liverpool Airport, Taxi coming at 10am as you have to get there a couple of hrs before.

It's going to be strange without my Puter.

I'll be packing some stuff and O/H the rest, have to get it all done tonight.

Hope you guys can keep the home fires burning and the grass cut in here.
I'll be back next Friday/Sat anyway.
Hicky
Good Morning Everyone.

Just a quick call, all packed, brekkie eaten, got my Holiday clothes on, got one of my T-Shirts on, it's red with a big old car on the front, it says, Nor, Cal Speedshop Oakland California.
Trousers are thin, elasticated with draw cords, Velcro pockets 4 off, ideal.
Got some black Velcro fastening trainers,
Taxi here at 10am then we go and pick my lads lot up before going to the John Lenon Airport Liverpool.
Keep the home fires burning.
Have set some programs to record but this SkyHD box is a dead loss, more trouble than the Sky+ one, it gets all messed up and has to be powered down to reset.
Catch you later guys.
Hicky
oooppsss, just missed Hicky leaving. Didn't realise he was going as soon as this morning.
He does sounds all well kitted out and comfy in his holiday gear.
Time for me and you to keep it ticking over here Emptybox.
Let's hope Hicky has a great time.
Yes, indeed I can keep the lawn mowed, but only if I can work out how to start it, but don't expect me to pick up the bits because I can't work how to put that damn basekt back on the mower, whenever I use it.
I missed the million show last night, had to go lie down, because my back was aching. Glad you had a go Emptybox, makes it more interesting, doesnt it  if you play along?
I wonder if Hicky will miss his pc when away?  Or if he will be too busy to think about it?

Glad you are up to date with your invoicing, as you say that is most important.
we had a bit of rain in the night, but it is sunny now.

wonder what makes ds think the million pound peoople are BB HM's?  I suppose so far they are the age group and type for BB HM's though.

Have a good day Emptybox.
M
Hi Mollie.
Well Hicky will be there by now, I expect.

Hope your back is better tonight?

It was quite cool today, then we had heavy rain this evening.
It's not warm now. I've got my woolly jersey on, but might turn the fan heater on later.
I'll leave the central heating off at the mo.

I'll watch Million Pound drop again tonight.
I think the reason some were suspicious was that they weren't very convincing as couples, and they seemed to get the questions wrong too often.
I don't buy it myself.
(ETA: I don't know though? We seem to have an Aisleyne lookalike on tonight. )

I hear there's going to be 100 contestants at the beginning of Big Brother, and they will fight for a place in the house on launch night. Not literally fight, you understand.

At 11pm on E4 there is 'Big Brother Exposed: The Inside Story', which should be good.
Not quite sure what it is, but I think some of the ex-housemates are interviewed.

Good afternoon Emptbyox
Let's hope Hicky is having a good first day on his hols and found his accomodation to be good. I don't think it is a very long flying time to Portugal.
It must be cool there if you needed your fan heater on.
Have you done any gardening today?
It is rainy and cool here today, so I have my cardy on.
Me and OH went to Asda for the groceries and a nice brekkie this morning.
OH and kids are at cinema right now, they have gone to see Iron Man.

I know what you mean about the couples on Millionaire. What I noticed is that they dont seem to know each other well at all.. eg when picking categories, if you knew each other well, you might say something along the lines of.."you studied history at Uni and/or are mad on visiting castles, so I think you would be good at that section"..just very strange.
I wonder how they selected the contestants?

100 contestants... bit adventuruos for channel 4 to be able to organise that, isn't it?

thanks for the reminder about E4 show, I recorded it, and will watch shortly.

Back better than yesterday, but trying not to dash around so much today.
Am looking forward to next weeks tv.. Corrie on every day with big siege storyline, and Britains got Talent too.

Hope you have a good day Emptybox.
M
Hi Mollie.

Well, we came last on Eurovision.
To be fair, it wasn't a very good song, and the last couple of notes were a bit painful.
Wonder if Hicky was watching in Portugal?

It was wet here most of the day, so I didn't get much done at all.
Just went into town for my weekly shop.

Glad your back is better than yesterday.
emptybox
Good morning Emptybox

Hope Hicky is remembering to wear his sun hat, that med sun can be popwerful at this time of year.
It rained here too most of yesterday. Hope you don't get too behind grass cutting wise, because I guess that bit of rain will make the grass grow quickly again.

Oh dear, facny us coming last at Eurovision. We are quite good at coming at or near the bottow. I watched Britains Got Talent, and Millionaire. Well Channel 4 certainly didn't end up giving much away on that millionaire show.

Did you have spag bol last night? We had jacket potatoes with cheese and mayo.Followed by some blueberrie crumble and custard. Blueberries nice and big and juicy now they are is season in Europe.

this afternoon we hope to take dog walk down seafroint when we drop son off at drama (if  weather is dry)..

Hope you have a good Sunday Emptybox.

M
Hi Mollie.

Well it was cold wet and windy this morning. Felt more like February.
During a dry patch I cut the grass, but I had to wear my fleece and woolly hat.
It's been a bit warmer and sunnier this afternoon though.

Hope you managed to get your walk.

Was messing around with computers for most of the day.
I've got a pile of ironing waiting...but it'll have to wait.

Yes I had spag bol last night. Tonight I had home made chilli beef and tomatoes with potatoes and brocolli.

I think Eurovision is a lost cause.
I thought the fact that voting started from the beginning would increase the political voting, but I'm not sure that was the case? Perhaps people voted when they heard a song they liked, without bothering which country it was, but when they had to wait till the end, they just voted for their neighbours?
They still didn't like us though.
emptybox
Emptybox
well I guess it is good you got some grass cut, even though you did have to wrap up to do so.
We got our nice walk on the seafront, weather was not too hot nor too cold. I had a caramel cake and capacinno on the seafront cafe, it is good to sit and watch people go by.

I bet you enjoyed your tea tonight. I just had French stick, brie and grapes tonight, but it was very tasty.

yes,I think you are right, they dont like us much on Eurovision.

Are you watching Britains Got Talent?
I am looking forward to watching it every night next week, along with the big  story on Corrie, which is also on nightly next week.
I wonder when we will get to see the first piccies of the BB house?
Bank Hol tommorrow, so I think we may go to Cardiff. It is a nice city, and we park by the river, so we can havea nice walk into town.
Are you giving yourself a day off for your bank hol tommorrow Emptybox?
M
Good morning Emptybox
It is a nice sunny morning here today, so if you have the same weather, you may find it hard to have an excuse not to do any garden work today.

We are going to Cardiff later this morning. My mum will come over lo look after the pets.  The pets dont mind because they usually manage to wangle an extra treat out of my mum.

How is your cat Emptybox?  Does she still stay indoors now?

I hope Hicky is enjoying his hols.
M
Good evening Emptybox..
I hope you have had a good day, and didn't work too hard.
It was a lovely day here, plenty of sun, but not too hot, about 18 degrees. We had a nice walk down the river and through the park in Cardiff, then round the shops. I got some new Pineapple trainers.

what are you cooking tonight?
I was too tired to cook, so got a cheese and onion sandwich from M and S.

Am now enjoying watching Britains Got Talent, then Corrie, then Derren Brown.
Have a good evening.
M
Hi Mollie.

It was a nice day here as well, so I did get some work done, but I permitted myself a bank holiday lie-in, so only worked this afternoon.

Glad you enjoyed your day in Cardiff.

Think I'm going to have to buy myself some trainers for wearing with my shorts.
The sandals I bought don't have any heels, so although they are fine for slopping about at home, or on the beach etc, they wouldn't be good walking down the street, as i haven't got the technique yet, and they keep kicking off.
Bloomin' painful when that happens. Perhaps they are slightly on the big side?
Don't know if I'd be courageous enough to walk down the street in shorts, mind you?

I had a king prawn balti tonight, with rice. I gently fried the king prawns in a pan, then added the ready made balti sauce. I had it with a side salad.

My cat is doing quite well. She has her off days, but is quite healthy. I've started to give her vetzyme vitamin tablets every morning, crushed up in a little milk, and her coat seems to be more glossy that it was.

I've started to let her out a bit more, when the dog next door is not around, but she doesn't seem to want to go far.
The dog is a blasted nuisance. Even if the cat is inside, catching some rays on the kitchen window-sill, the dog comes in our gate and barks at it.
The poor cat can't even sunbathe in peace.

I was watching the last in the series of Flash Forward on channel five tonight.
It's excellent. Can't wait for the next series.
emptybox
Good morning Emptybox
It is a wet morning here so far, so wonder if you will have to take a day off the gardens today? Good for you treating yourself to a bank hol lie in.   I wonder if Hicky is getting holiday lie ins, or if the family have busy days planned for him, whilst he is away?
Yes sandals are very hard to get to fit right, so you can walk far in them. Some of mine too, just slide off when I try and walk. But I don't think any sandals are very good for walking far in really. In fact,I think mine may be the cause of my bad back, because I had been walking so far in them. I suddenly realised, that I did not have a bad back all winter when I didn't wear them.  That is the reason I bought some light trainers yesterday.

Your dinner sounds quite adventurous. I bet, Hicky, being the king of seafood would of appreciated your prawns.

Good to hear your cat is doing well. Shame about that dog, irresponsible dog owners annoy me.   They shouldn't let it in your garden at all. Poor cat deserves a bit of peace in her own home. When we take our dog out, I can't stand it in public places, when people let their dogs off the lead, especially when it plainly says dogs should be on a lead. They often come up and start getting agressive with our dog, so I have to pick her up.  And these are usually the same owners that don't clean up after their dogs.

It is good to find a series like Flash Forward that you enjoyed.
I am looking forward to Britians Got Talent this week, it was good last night.

I suppose I must get down to some cleaing and tidying now, don't feel like it though.

I hope you haven't got any BP shares in your portfolio?   Looks like they are heading into big trougle with this leak not easing.

Have a good day.
M
Afternoon.

HI boldjohn.
Nice to see you.

It's wet here today, so I'm not outside.
Hopefully Hicky is having much better weather in Portugal, than we are here.

No I don't have any BP shares thankfully Mollie, but all shares are very volatile at the moment.

Yes, I guess walking in sandals could give you a bad back. Probably better with trainers.
I might have to start shutting the gate, to keep the dog out. But that would be a shame, as I haven't had the gate shut for years. The last time was when we had a dog, and we didn't want her to wander.
Unfortunately, the neighbour just let's the dog go where it likes.
emptybox
Good evening all

Boldjohn
lovely to see you. Hope you and the family are well. I had a nice bank hol thanks, hope you did too.
What are you watching on tv right now?  My fave at the moment is Britains Got Talent, and Corrie street.

Emptybox
I thought it might be raining by you too. It eventuallystopped hear early evening, so we took the dog out for a walk, and this time I wore my trainers, not flip flops.
I think it might be a good idea to close your gate now, you don't want the dog upsetting the cat now she is older.
Yes hopefully Hicky is having good weather there.

I just noticed a post... if you cant get on here tommororw, it is because they said they are doing maintenance.

goodnight all
M
Good morning all
Nice sunny day here so far, so, whilst there was still plenty of shade, I went nice and early for a .
That pic looks a bit like my dog, and if the lady's top was red, and her hair blond, it was similiar to what I was wearing for our walk today.

Good job it is dry, because I have lots and lots of to do today.

Is it gardening day today Emptybox?
Our lawn seems to of grown quickly again, it must of been that bit of rain we had.

Brekkie time for me, cheese and tomato on toast. The dog had steamed fish and rice for hers. She loves fish.
Hope Hicky is having fun.
M
Hi Mollie.

A nice sunny day here as well.
Unfortunately I had to spend part of the morning fixing my mower. The repair that I did to it a while back failed, so I had to re-do it. It's working OK again now though, but I don't think the repair will last.
I'll probably end up having to buy a new drive cable.

I bet your dog enjoyed her walk and her fish, and you enjoyed your cheese and tomato

Just heard on the news about all the killings in Cumbria.
That's a bit too close for comfort, and not somewhere where you'd think something like that would happen.
emptybox
Good morning Emptbyox
how annoying that your mower is playing up again, because I know how much you need to use that mower at this time of year. Hope a new cable doesn't prove too costly, if you end up having to replace one.

Another lovely day today, took doggie out nice and early again, whilst there was stil plenty of shade.
Plenty of washing to hang out again. sainsburys man just delivered my shop. Free delivery because I have to spend over ÂĢ100, so saves me on petrol and time.
My friend coming over for a latte in a minute, she loves the coffee from my coffee maker.
did you watch Britains Got Talent?
I enjoyed it.

yes just dreadful sad news from Cumbria.   Those poor innocent people.
M
Evening Mollie.
Another lovely day here. Perhaps slightly too warm. But I won't complain.......yet.

I did watch the BGT results show tonight, but you only saw snippets of the acts, so it's not fair for me to judge from those.

Saw some girls dressed as skeletons, saw a fellow wearing a baseball cap sideways (can't stand that ), and saw an old lady singing in a pub style.

Mind you, Miley Cyrus has grown up well, hasn't she?
Britney Speares type performance that?

My bloomin' strimmer has broken now.
One of the control arms has broken.I don't think it's something you can get a spare part for? I've mended it this evening by grafting a bit of old TV aerial on to it , but it's a bit wobbly and difficult to use.
Another new thing I'll have to buy before next season.
Not a good thing when you turn up with 'make do and mend' equipment. Not very professional.
emptybox
Good morning Emptybox
Oh no, what a shame your strimmer has decided to give up now.  Good thing you had a bit of tv aeirial hanging around to patch up for now.  Don't worry too much about your equipment looking professional, as long as you can do the job ok, and the gardens look good in the end, I bet your customers won't even notice the equipment you use.

On BGT, the 2 lads dancing were quite good, because they were a comedy act, but on the whole I think there have been far too many dance troups put through this year. Diversity were great last year, but all these others copying them, are not as good as them, so boring. The elderly lady (she is 81) is a sweet happy soul, she sang really well in audition, but dont think she was quite so good last night. But obviously wonderful for her age. At least with her going through, it does mean the final will have a bit more variety than a show full of young dance troups.

I wonder if Hicky is due back today?  I think he said he was going for a week, and i think the week is due today. I hope he had a good time.

We may be going to Butlins over the bank hol. OH doesn't want to take time off work whilst he is in contract, so we will only go for a few nights. I am waiting for Tesco tokens first though, because I don't want to have to pay for it.

Took dog out at 7am before it got too hot, looks like a hot one to come today. She found a little playmate in the hedgerow who looked like this...

but he did notwant want to play with her, he ran away into the hedge when he saw her. After that, she didn't want to come home from her walk, she kept stopping and looking back to see if he had come back to play with her.

Hope you don't get too hot gardening today, and hope your equipment holds out.

Topic Holiday to Portugal, by Peniche
Good Evening Mollie & Emptybox.

Glad to be back, had a great time, had a Sat dish so could keep up with the TV & all the news, Villa was great, had it's own pool as well.Did quite a bit of travel, so many beaches around, Peniche was a great Peninsular, also went to an animal sanctuary island for a trip on a day out.
Couldn't find any Bacon/Sausage like ours, the Bacon was like Gamon, already cooked and cured.

Hope you have been keeping well, bad about those people in Cumbria.

About Emptybox's Strimmer, Mine doesn't seem as good as I'd expect, think the reel/cord is automatic but might get a petrol one, will look into it.

Can't wait for BB to start.

Will post a few pics from Portugal when I sort them and make them a smaller to post, not dimension just file size.
Hicky
Hi Hicky.
Great to see you back.
Glad you had a great holiday.
It'll be nice to see some pics.

Last weekend wasn't nice here, but it's been nice and warm for most of the week. Bet it was hotter in Portugal though?

The petrol strimmers are much more powerful than the little electric ones, but those automatic reels never seem to work well.
I always have to stop every now and again and pull some more cord out.

Hi Mollie.
That old lady on BGT comes from very near to where my Brother lives.
She wasn't very good, from what I heard last night, but i won't judge her on that. I'll have to try to catch some of the final.

Hope you have a good time at Butlins. When is the next bank holiday? Surely we can't be due for another one already?

It was hotter than ever today, but I think it's due to get cooler on Sunday.
My Brother and family are paying me a visit then.

Oh, I forgot to say Hicky.
I see your friend Bex has got herself a regular TV gig.
emptybox
Hi Emptybox.

Was flipping a few channels last night before bed in Portugal when I came across what I thought was Bex on one of the adult ones, mind you she was dressed so wasn't showing anything.
Didn't know what any station the channels where on as it was a strange box and was probably picking up multi Satellite's.

Not too impressed with any of the #BGT acts, so not bothered who wins, and when it's up to the public, well, enough said.
Hicky
