Yesterday, I was shopping in Morrisons and I had a lovely chat with the guy on the checkout. He was so cheerful and friendly, he brightened up my shopping experience. It reminded me of a conversation I’d had with an elderly gentleman on the bus a few years ago. As he was about to get off the bus, he explained that he has nobody to talk to since his wife died and thanked me for talking to him as he’d really enjoyed our chat.

It got me thinking about the little things which put a smile on my face and don’t cost money - things like, a smile or hug from my grandchildren, seeing a beautiful rainbow in the sky, the scent of a rose and watching a beautiful sunset.

So, what puts a smile on your face and lifts your spirits?

Definitely a sunset and sunlight bouncing off the water  - both mesmerising.

And on the same theme .... moonlight, love the blueish look to everything  - almost ethereal/spooky.

. . . and how people tend to repeat threads I've already started

This is a little bit like "Little things that make life great"  - aherm . . . .

Changing of the seasons - love that - the smell of cold in the air signalling the start of winter..

Long summer days with nothing to do.

Rolling into a warm bed (with hot water bottle) when it's snowing outside

Here's Goldfrapp's Happiness. Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory make several cameo appearances during it including the very end when they are the two elderly people coming to join the revelry. The bouncing man is George Foster.

I do like Goldfrapp. I wonder if that was shot in one take?

@Baz - Nice one. I hope you call it an iPhone 10 and not an iPhone ex

I'm thinking it might be my new phone in a few month time. Never been on iOS, always Android, so I figure time for a change.

How much did it cost, and ongoing costs?

Yes I am connected to internet ....I cleared the balance on my old phone ...and my iPad ...so ongoing monthly costs are no dearer ...price of device depends on how many GBs you choose ...let’s just say it ain’t cheap But the way I look at it it’s horses for courses ...because of Mr B mobility etc we can no longer go on holidays ...very rarely go out ...and don’t really drink , or smoke , so ....well that’s my excuse , and I’m sticking to it

Well you know I’m an Apple fan , so I’d say go for it ....but I’m hardly unbiased.

What she's trying to say is ...

It cost a fortune to buy

It's costing a fortune to run

She's connected to the internet right 'now'

A couple of obvious mistake in the above.

The screen is not Android technology, it's display technology which you find in TV's, watches, phones, laptops ... It was not developed with phones in mind, the technology was developed and adapted to many different devices, phones being just one.

Apple does not need to catch up to Android. They are different eco systems and users decide which they prefer and go with that. They both do some things the same and other things differently. Likewise they both develop different technologies for their devices at different times. If you look back at Android they have added and removed feature only to reintroduce them through user pressure.

As for wireless charging, if one looks at the design of the iPhone it could not support wireless charging because of the materials used in the construction of the case. Who is to say that Apple did not have wireless technology before but knew they needed to redesign first?

Just remind me who had touch id first?

I think the only time I've had a puff of a cigar was at a family function aged 12/13 and it nearly killed me as I recall!

George Foster said that it wasn't one take but several. I mentioned that Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory had several cameos in the video and as they were wearing different clothes each cameo, it would have been near impossible for it to have been made without any breaks.

Bon Fire night - perhaps my fave night of the whole year

Why do you like it so much?

Have you ever know a warm Bon Fire night? Me neither.

To me it represents the real beginning of winter and the start of the run up to Xmas.

I love it when a community comes together, there are precious few these days, Bon Fire Night is probably the most exciting

And the fireworks themselves  - I love them, the smell, the noise - amazing!!

I can identify with that. When my boys were young, we lived in a small village up north. The village shop would have a collection tin during October and everyone would contribute towards the cost of fireworks and the community bonfire. Hotdogs, soup and toffee apples were handed out and little bags of sweets for the kids. Happy days.
