Did one of these quizzes before on US states and didn't quite get 50. Hoping for full marks this time.

I've got all of them except for 18 and 19. ('Cleats' and 'Time to move on to e')

I wanna put Newcastle for Cleats because it's an anagram of Castle. Also, I googled cleats and it's also the name of a comic strip about a football team (Newcastle FC?)

Anyone else got these ones?

Just properly noticed this....why didn't I think of doing that instead of mentally imagining a UK atlas and all the places with City status and cathedrals? Doh!

Technically speaking it's Newcastle Upon Tyne, and as cleat is a nautical term (used to secure a rope on a boat), this answer fits even more.

Ah right. I didn't remember what cities had gone already....and it did seem a little too straightforward

So far I have:

Genuine Caviar = Truro (True Roe)

Pan-cook rabbit town = Peterborough (Peter pan/peter rabbit and burrow=burough)

Mess behind rug = Edinburgh (anagram of beind rug) as said

The result of chinese burn = Armagh (bad joke) as said

Dagenham?= Hereford (as in here ford as mentioned before)

Left opening around september 1st = I think may be westminster (Left=West and houses of parliament opens in september i think) not too sure about that one but closest i can get so far.

for Replace your old drugs all i acn see is Newry. New=replace old and Rx is medicines so maybe Ry is the new one. again not convinced of this but closest i have.

I think one of the answers is Derby, as in local derby, but I can't figure out who won what when. Could be Manchester (Utd. v City) or London teams. Be back later.

My guess is Glasgow and Derby.

Glasgow have won the right to host the next Commowealth Games.

Derby for the same reason has above. Rangers & Celtic.

Personally I think the Glasgow/Rangers/Celtic is too tenuous.

Whareas (to me)the Manchester one feels exactly right.

How about "this city won the next one" as Glasgow - because it was the city that won the hosting of the next Commonwealth Games;  and  "this city was won by the last one" as Manchester because it was the city that won the hosting of the last Commonwealth Games that were held in the UK - just an idea, but haven't convinced myself yet!

Does anyone have any ideas for the left opening around september 1st clue? I'm completely blank on that one.

It was given earlier, seamed reasonable.

Westminster. West being to the right (assuming North is to the top)

And Houses of Parliament open around early September.
